"This laid-back strip mall joint in Burien isn’t near any body of water, but it feels like a beachside diner—there are crab nets, an aquarium by the register, and wafts of freshly fried seafood coming out of the kitchen. Of that deep-fried stuff, get the Captain’s Platter, a combo of flaky salmon, cod, and halibut with choice of beer batter or panko-breading. They leave a satisfying crunch, and we like that you can mix and match different tartar sauce flavors." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente

"This laid-back strip mall joint isn’t near any body of water, but it feels like a beachside diner. There are crab nets adorning the walls, a wooden boat hanging upside down on the ceiling, an aquarium, and wafts of freshly fried seafood coming out of the kitchen. Of that deep fried stuff, the fish and chips dish stands out the most, with a wonderfully flaky casing that leaves a satisfying crunch. Get the halibut over the cod for the best flavor. And don't neglect the restaurant’s crab rolls, either —they come with a substantial portion of meat mixed with celery, diced red pepper, and housemade tartar sauce that adds depth. Food Rundown Fish & Chips Combo You can get the salmon, cod, or halibut individually, but all three as a combo is the best choice. We like the beer battered version, though there's a panko option, too. And you can mix and match tartar sauces (go for the habanero for a little extra kick). photo credit: Gabe Guarente Crab Roll A more than admirable hunk of crustacean, but you’ll probably need to sploosh in lots of lemon to add brightness. This roll also has nicely toasted bread and crispy fries are included." - Gabe Guarente

"At Burien Fish House, diners choose their own fish and chips adventures. The menu allows choices for the type of fish (halibut, salmon, cod, or shrimp), the number of pieces, the type of breading or batter, and it offers selections of ten sauces (including three housemade tartars). For those who are decision-averse, the beer-battered halibut and a side of jalapeno tartar is an excellent choice." - Nate Hall

"You can find really good seafood at this laid-back Burien strip mall joint that isn’t near any body of water, but feels like a beachside diner. While the fish & chip dishes stand out the most, the restaurant’s crab rolls don’t disappoint. There’s a substantial portion of meat mixed with celery, diced red pepper, and housemade tartar sauce that adds depth (though you’ll probably need to sploosh in a lot of lemon to add brightness). This roll also has nicely toasted bread and crispy fries are included in the $30 price." - gabe guarente

"The shatteringly crisp beer-battered fish and chips are just the beginning of the stellar seafood offerings at this takeout favorite restaurant in a strip mall behind the main drag in downtown Burien. The fish tacos are the true star of the menu, though, featuring a piece of fish as large as the tortilla itself, either battered, breaded, grilled, or blackened. Among the variety of tacos offered, the Northwest salmon with apple mango salsa is a standout, packing crunch and acidity in each bite — and just the right amount of heat." - Alana Al-Hatlani
