The 31 Essential Restaurants in Tijuana, Mexico

"It’s hard not to get excited as the tableside cart arrives and you watch as a uniformed waiter whisks up a garlicky, umami-rich dressing in a wide wooden bowl before gently tossing the mixture with fresh leaves of romaine. After all, this is where the Caesar salad was invented a century ago, and since then, Caesar’s zesty, simple recipe has gone on to grace menus globally. Opened in 1923, and acquired in 2010 by the Plasencia Group, the legendary restaurant has reclaimed its Prohibition-era splendor. The Roaring 20s menu includes period classics like oysters Rockefeller, sole meuniere, and beef Wellington, as well as local Mexican trends born in recent decades like savory tamarind martinis." - Bill Esparza

The Secrets of Tableside Caesar Salad at Tijuana’s Iconic Caesar’s Restaurant - Eater San Diego

"At the height of Tijuana’s Prohibition-era decadence, Caesar’s owner Caesar Cardini first created his eponymous Caesar salad. The tableside specialty quickly became a favorite with the many Americans, including Hollywood’s A-list, who were heading south of the border in droves to take advantage of Tijuana’s plentiful drinks, gambling, and live entertainment. With its golden years long past, the original Caesar’s closed in the late aughts during a slump in Tijuana tourism due to strict border restrictions and intense organized crime activity. However, the Plascencia family, regarded as Tijuana’s leading restaurateurs, revived the restaurant at its original location in 2010, during a time in which the city was shedding its anything-goes reputation for that of a bona fide culinary and arts destination." - Mario A. A very old school, peaceful and beautifully decorated restaurant. The service was impecable. I came for the caesar salad and it did not disappoint. It's the original and the best ive ever had. The fried calamari was also delicious and actually pairs well with salad. I will definitely come back here again especially for the caesar salad.

I'll admit, I do not know Spanish so I was a bit nervous coming here and being able to properly order what I wanted. However, they were very accommodating and had menus in English. The staff was rather attentive and generous. Food was rather tasty and is at a very appealing price. I got the beef wellington and some calamari Both were rather tasty.

Classy-looking but not pretentious. I like the old-timey, classic look. I thought it was going to be uppity but I was pleasantly surprised that it's pretty relaxed inside. The wait staff were friendly and tried their best to explain things in a mix of some English and hand gestures. I got the legendary Caesar's salad and it's made and served table side. It's quite a performance. I certainly enjoyed watching it. But more than that, it's also the best Caesar's salad I've ever had. I also ordered the beef wellington, which can only be made medium-well or well done. I usually like my steak rare, so I chose the better option of medium well. Sorely disappointed of how it came out though; it looked and tasted well-done. But I didn't want to make a fuss about it and just ate it with disappointment. Note that the beef wellington takes 20 min to cook. Put in your order early!

Great classic old-school restaurant vibe. 2nd time here. Food was underwhelming. Service good. Went back for nostalgic reasons. Very busy but comfortable and inviting.

Salad: Ceasar- it was good, really cute that they do it in front of you. We got the large for a group of 4. So it came with 5 leaves. It was more than enough. It was delicious, a little too much on the dressing, but that might be a personal preference. Appetizers: Great! Loved the calamari and the pulpo (see pics) it was cooked perfectly aka, not chewy at all. The Huevos Lucio was also delicious, highly recommend! Entrees: I got the carbonara and it was Mid. My partner got the taco de res and he said it was OK but not the best. Service: Great staff! Accommodating and attentive.

Caesar's Restaurante Bar Av. Revolución 8190, Zona Centro, 22000 Tijuana, B.C., Mexico It took 5 yrs and Cataract Surgery to get me here, finally , but I am here to try the original Caesar Salad Wow, just wow! I had the most incredible meal of my life here! Caesar Salad Delight Let me start with the Caesar salad. The dressing is absolutely phenomenal—it's finger-licking good and so addictive! I would happily fly to Tijuana just to enjoy this salad again. Ribeye Steak Perfection Next up was the ribeye steak, cooked to perfection and seasoned like a true culinary artist. While the meat itself was good, the chef's seasoning and that delightful gravy took it to another level. The steak was incredibly tender, and I absolutely loved it! Beef Wellington Adventure I finally tried Beef Wellington, something I had always wanted to experience but hesitated due to the $80.00 price. Here, it was only $20 USD! Although I have type 2 diabetes and skipped the pastry, the steak was tender and seasoned beautifully, with a gravy that was simply to die for. The chef truly excels at making gravy and seasoning steaks exceptionally well. A New Favorite This was my first visit, and I am completely smitten! I loved the food so much that I can't wait to return with all my nine girlfriends. I felt like I was dining at a five-star restaurant while only paying fast-food prices. What an amazing experience! Caesar's Restaurante Bar, located in Tijuana, Mexico, is famously known as the birthplace of the Caesar salad, which was invented by Italian immigrant Caesar Cardini on July 4, 1924. The story goes that during a busy holiday weekend, Cardini faced a shortage of ingredients due to an influx of American tourists escaping Prohibition. In a moment of culinary creativity, he combined whole Romaine lettuce leaves with garlic-flavored oil, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, raw eggs, and Parmesan cheese, creating a dish that would become iconic. Originally served as a finger food, the salad quickly gained popularity and has since become a staple in restaurants worldwide, with Caesar's Restaurante Bar still preparing it tableside today, honoring its rich history and Cardini's original recipe

Been here twice. Super honored to have eaten the original Cesar salad which is delicious. It’s a nice place to have dinner. Eveything I’ve tried has been pretty good, nothing great though, besides the salad. I could just be ordering the wrong things. Regardless I’m sure I’ll continue to eat here when I visit tj.

This place is a real treat. Very upscale but not snobby. Service was excellent! And the "original" caesar salad... Incredible! We also had Beef Wellington, a first for us, perfectly cooked, and came in at about 12 ounces for the small price of about $20 USD. We love Mexico prices! This type of thing in the USA is unattainable to most. But, here in Mexico at the "fancy" restaurant, we had 4 cocktails, 1 caesar salad, bread, 2 beef wellingtons, plus a 15% tip for all less than $100 USD. If you go to Tijuana, don't miss this experience!
