"Café La Joie is a Mediterranean cafe in the Richmond with coffee, pastries, and smoothies, plus heartier dishes like salads, bagels, and merguez lavash wraps. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Julia Chen

I cannot think of a better addition to the neighborhood than this cafe. The sandwiches, especially the chicken pesto wrap, were excellent. Unusually, the pesto tasted exactly like my mom’s and took me back to basil season at my childhood home in Virginia. Aziz, the owner, has a history of success in the industry and seemed to be in his happy place serving up what he knew to be five star food and drinks. Though I worried that the block doesn’t get enough foot traffic, it may be for the best as it was lovely to sit outside on 6th in the sun, protected from the hustle bustle and wind on California. Stay tuned as I’ll be returning post-haste to try out the smoothies and coffee drinks.

Stopped in on their opening weekend and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff and owner, delicious Lavash wrap (I had the grilled vegetarian one) and I found the space cozy and comfortable. Loved my Berry smoothie as well. Will definitely be back for the espresso drinks and baked goods which looked inviting in the case. Good quality ingredients 👍

Great place for the family! Our picky 4 y/o daughter loved the egg and cheese wrap + strawberry banana smoothie.

Absolutely loved my visit to Cafe La Joie! I had the Merguez Sausage wrap and it was truly outstanding—bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and unlike anything I’ve had in SF. It’s a unique, crave-worthy dish that I’ll definitely be coming back for. On top of that, the owner was incredibly kind and hospitable, making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and a menu that goes beyond the usual cafe fare. A true gem!

I love the new Cafe La Joie on 6th and California Streets. Great coffee and breakfast selections, wraps, Moroccan dishes and salads and sandwiches. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Enjoyed a casual Sunday brunch here after the Clement farmer’s market. The sign said it was the grand opening. Food was solid and service was super friendly. I got the GF bagel with bacon, egg and cheese, which came served open faced and with a small side salad. Partner got the turkey sandwich which also came with the salad on the side. We both got iced teas. The total came out to ~$45 with tip. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a restroom for customers - which after COVID is somehow a rare find - IYKYK. There was only one other customer while we were there, so I hope they find more customers with more good reviews.

The vibe in this place is great! Food is delicious and the owner is a gem. He personally checks in to see how's the food for you, and even keeps an eye out for parking enforcement if you park in front of the cafe. Very friendly staff!

Google
INCREDIBLE wraps and sandwiches. We got the chicken pesto, sausage, and veggie ratatouille and each was fantastic. The grilled wraps come on lavash wraps and are very generous servings. Delicious flavors and good ingredients. Super clean facilities and nice vibe. New favorite spot in the Inner Richmond!!!

Yelp
Everything is done to perfection in this small and charming breakfast location. The coffee is delicious. The food and drinks are made with great care. I highly recommend this place. And the owner is incredibly sweet and very proud of his place, as he should be.

Yelp
This spot recently opened and I went for lunch. I got the beef kofta wrap and it was delicious! I mentioned I was in a time crunch but also hungry, and they served me half and preemptively packed the other half without me asking. A very thoughtful gesture! Will come back for lunch again. I want to try their smoothies too!

Yelp
Cafe La Joie, a beautiful and new Mediterranean-style cafe is now at the same space once occupied by Nourish. Love the intimate and clean interior flanked by a wall of white subway tiles. And the three outdoor tables making it a dog-friendly neighborhood place. The owner/chef is very enthusiastic and friendly. The food is also delicious. Love the beef kofta wrap (I ate half and my hubby finished the other half), and the cup of tomato bisque was superb. The pastrami sandwich that my husband ordered was okay. I think we would come back to try other Mediterranean dishes. The Americano was also good. Besides making good coffee, they also offer smoothies and breakfast sandwiches/wraps. They have a pastry case, but not sure if those are house-made. 4.5 stars. Located on 6th Ave and California.

Yelp
Charming spot with vegetarian options. Tried both soups--loved them both! Ordered the power bowl, which was delicious and super filling, the portion was so big I couldn't finish it. Staff were very attentive and accommodating, definitely a spot to come back to!

Yelp
Beautiful place! Has a nice European/Mediterranean vibe to it. The food is SO GOOOD!! MUST TRY!! It opened a week ago and the line is already out the door. Coffee is excellent, lunch menu is so diverse and there's something for everyone. MY FAVORITE WRAP is the kefta melt & grilled veggie ratatouille!! ( vegetarian & vegan options).

Yelp
Cute shop that recently opened! walked by in the morning and stopped by in the afternoon to grab a snack and it was wonderful! Great team in the shop and so friendly - la joie smoothie is more a juice and was really good, great flavor with a touch of coconut - also the macaroons were so good, no wheat in them either! Happy to have this spot nearby and will be back again - they have a great menu

Yelp
So happy to have a friendly cafe back on this corner of our neighborhood! The owner and staff are really welcoming and inclusive - love that they have gluten free bagels! The space gets a tonnn of natural light and the lattes are great.

Yelp
incredible cafe! such a genuine owner and hidden gem tucked in within inner Richmond. the Ketfa is authentic and flavorful, don't sleep on this cafe. coffee is great, but food blows it out of the water. calm and friendly environment.

Yelp
Finally, finally a cappuccino worthy of its name in Inner Richmond: perfectly extracted espresso, creamy foamed milk (neither too airy nor too liquid), proper proportions: 1/3 espresso/1/3 hot milk, 1/3 milk foam. A cappuccino like you'd find at a terrace in Rome or Paris. It must be said that the very friendly and affable owner of this new café, a true gem, trained in Paris. As for his croissants: same story! Made with butter, perfectly layered with just the right amount of butter - absolutely nothing like the croissants from the cafés around (horrible Costco croissants from Ashley and La Flore - how can you call that a croissant?). I really hope this new café will be able to prosper because for me, going to this little gem is like traveling to Europe - without the plane ticket. Just what Inner Richmond needed: a slice of authentic European café culture, perfectly executed with passion and expertise.
