All Those Viral Croissant Spin-Offs, Ranked

"The Onigiri Croissant The Onigiri Croissant (also known as the onioissant, or the cronigiri) at Cafe W in Flushing is exactly what it sounds like. Triangular croissant dough is piped full of classic onigiri fillings, like mayo and pollack roe. This is the one we wanted to like. This is the one we wanted to surprise us. It sadly did not. The outside is sweet and sticky, and the insides are creamy and fishy." - willa moore

Cafe W Review - Flushing - New York - The Infatuation

"Cafe W went viral for the cronigiri—also known as the onioissant—which is exactly what it sounds like. The Flushing bakery makes an onigiri-shaped croissant, pipes mayo and pollack roe into it, and finishes it with a small square of seaweed. It’s sticky sweet on the outside and creamy and fishy on the inside, and it’s not necessarily anything we’d ever eat again. Still, if you’re in the area and you need somewhere to do work, the large space has high ceilings, lots of tables, and other baked goods, like matcha croissants and lemon croissants. Serve yourself something sweet from the self-serve pastry area, round out your order with a black sesame milkshake, and then use all that sugar to get some work done. There’s also a parking lot out front, if that means anything to you. photo credit: Kate Previte" - Willa Moore

Cafe w is such a nice go to cafe in my neighborhood. I really love their ambiance and pastries. Its my weekend coffee place, i always go there for their variety of bakery and lattes and of course the amazing ambiance. Their 2 story sitting area is very unique.

I liked it! I got some as a gift so I didn’t visit the actual store. All time favorite thing here was the strawberry pastry (if the business replies; please just say the name of that one) SO good. I would come back for that. Fantastic. Fluffy and light and airy with a perfectly sweetened cream fluff inside. Wow. Corn cheese bread was sooo fun. If it’s served warm; I bet you it’s fantastic but I did eat it a couple of hours after it was ordered. The fig bread had an amazing texture to it. Light and fluffy like Portuguese bread (I did personally wish the figs were cut smaller to enjoy more evenly but that’s personal preference) The variety of stuff was really fun! Some things I did not like at all but my friends did so that was just personal preference.

Was not impressed at all by the pastries that we got. The chocolate croissant had a small bar of chocolate in the middle that was rock solid and not enjoyable, would have been better if the chocolate was folded into the layers. The other 2 pastries were mediocre at best. Don’t remember the name of the 3 mound one, which for some reason was slathered in sugar water and sticky but the cream on top wasn’t sweet at all, I guess they were trying to balance the sweetness but it didn’t work in my opinion. The other croissant was a sesame seed with raspberry filling which was fine, nothing crazy. Ambient was nice. Limited parking. We came when there weren’t too many options. Maybe that was our mistake, but either way we won’t be back.

Would go back for their Oni-Croissants! FAMILY FRIENDLY: Yes PARKING: Tiny tiny parking lot… like 5 parking spaces in front of there cafe PET FRIENDLY: No FOOD: Plain Croissant $4.25: 5 Stars – Flaky, buttery, and oh so good Ham and Cheese Croissant $4.75: 3 Stars – Needs more filling and not as great as plain croissant Oni-Croissant: Mayo and Pollack Roe $6.50: 5 Stars – maybe because I had low expectation since most filled anything thing doesn’t come with a lot. There was definitely plenty of filling in this! I love the idea of this which was the reason I wanted to try this place. The exterior was good but because it was compressed it wasn’t as flaky as a normal croissant. Oni-Croissant: Chive, Bacon, and cream cheese $6.50: 5 Stars – Fillings galore!! Still loved it even though this was a touch too creamy which is funny coming from me. Garlic Butter Baguette $7.50: 3 Stars – I grabbed this as it was something I always wanted to try due to all those viral videos. There was a touch of sweetness which I did not enjoy. I like my savory to be savory. Everyone else seem to really like it though! Burnt Basque Cheesecake $8.00: 5 Stars - Creamy and custardy! I only had Basque cheesecake once and I didn’t enjoy it. I got this on a whim to see if the one I had previously was just poorly made or if I just hate all Basque cheesecake. Earl Greg Cassis Mousse (layer of earl grey chestnut cream, cassis confit, earl grey mousse and biscuit) $12.55: 3 Stars – I mean look at it! It looks so perfect and unassuming. I love chestnut and black current/cassis so I was really excited. Which probably was why I was a little disappointed. There was different texture like it should in an entremets but the lack of chestnut and earl grey was very lacking. DRINK: Black Sesame Cream Latte, Hot $6.75: I’ve been on a hunt for good black sesame cream latte but sadly I need to keep looking. Barely taste the black sesame. MENU, RESTAURANT, and SERVICE: The offering at the café did not have everything shown on their website. The majority of the café is self service for the bakery items but you would need to order from them for any of the refrigerated items (cakes) and coffees. The restaurant is pretty spacious for how little tables they have set up. I believe they have a second floor but I have not been up there. Very clean and minimalistic. There was only one person I spoke with and he was friendly and helpful.

Cute cafe. They have a downstairs and upstairs. Good place to study. However, large groups do come in and talk, so keep that in mind. Their pastries are all fresh and it looks delicious. I have tried a couple and went back for more the next day. They also have cool lattes. I've tried the black sesame ice latte.

Google
Really great bread quality, a lot of variety and very fresh and delicious. I recommend buying it to take home and reheating it in your oven for maximum deliciousness. Reheating the onigiri croissant in the oven gave the texture this extremely satisfying hot crunch! It was so tasty too. All the super creamy bread was very good but in my opinion, over stuffed with cream and the cream was always sweeter than it had to be, especially if the bread was a savory type bread. The other downside is honestly how expensive it can be it was about $52 for a small cake and 6 breads…but I would make an effort to come back if I’m in the neighborhood to check the place out.

Google
First off, amazing!!!!!! The only downside is finding a parking space but other than that this place is amazing!!!!! It’s self serve with the pastries and the food just tastes amazing!!!! Looks amazing, tastes amazing!!! 10/10 recommend for anyone to come!!! Definitely worth the 35 min drive!🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Google
Had some time to kill so we popped in to see what kind of baked goods they had. There was a bunch of assortment of breads, mousse and cookies. We picked up 3 different types of bread. The Castella Cream Salted bread was soft which I like. The cream was tasty and the crunchies on top gave it some texture. The bread itself was so-so. Second item was a Bacon Chive Cronigiri. It was sweet and savory but it was very hard. Third item was a Garlic Cheese Butter Bread. It was very garlicky and sweet. Did not like it at all... All in all I'm not sure if I would go back since everything was so pricy and it was just OK.

Yelp
Have I ever had onigiri? No. But have I now had two onioissants (onigiri + croissant)?! Yes and I need more! My friend and I tried a oniossant w/ cream cheese, bacon, & chives, and one with vanilla rice. She got a black sesame latte and I got a matcha latte. Everything was excellent! The place itself is two floors with tons of space to hang out/do work! I'm so glad i stumbled across this place on tiktok before it got banned!

Yelp
Had the matcha Croissant, Bacon and Chives Onicronut, Almond croissant, and raspberry cake. All were delicious and unique. Onicronut was a cool concept but flavorwise, it was a bit dull. Service was friendly and quick. Also had the black sesame milkshake which was a bit too sweet for my taste

Yelp
Decided to give this place a try based on the good reviews. Their raspberry pistachio mousse is outstanding! All the different flavors are really good together! Also tried the black sesame latte and a hot cappuccino which were all tasty. The Cafe closes at 1030pm on Saturday and at 9pm, it's still fairly busy. I have a feeling if they stayed open even later, people would still come by. Plenty of seats and tables to hang out as well as an upstairs seating area. The one thing that I would rate a B+ on, is the echo on the first floor because of their high ceilings which makes for a noisier sound level, and also their very bright lighting makes it feel less cozy. I'll be back for sure to try their other baked goods.

Yelp
I've probably been here 4 times in the last month with is unusual and probably a bit dangerous health wise, but that damn Einspanner keeps calling to me and I get an iced one each time! I was well on my way to 5 stars but I thought about a couple of minor issues... I was pretty disappointed with the vanilla/black sesame ice cream twist came with look pretty large to find a hollow center - pretty deceiving. 1 out of the 4 Einspanners didn't hit the mark - it was made a little less generously and instead of thick layer of cream on top it was a bit thin and watery.. so there are some consistency issues that I noticed. Perhaps it is my psyche trying to find minor issues with this place to give me some distance to avoid making it a habit because it would be very easy with their delicious breads and pastries.. I got the garlicky pull apart bread, which is unlike me because garlic doesn't always agree with me, but it was so sweet and buttery it hit the spot. The onion flatbread was cheesy and creamy with plenty of soft onions that was very delicious. I tried the Mayo Pollack Roe Oniossant which had great flavor and generous roe filling. So besides all the trendy baked goods they make here they also set the agenda by inventing new ones (Oniossant/Cronigiri). Anything Ive tried has been as delicious as it looks. There is an aesthetic to this place that is very mindful, very demure as Tik-Tokians might say. Its pretty easy to see this place stands out in an area packed with cafes. A few parking spots in front, a second level so there is plenty of seating.. Cafe W is my go to!

Yelp
Bookmark this post immediately if you're a fan of korean cafes/bakeries!! Cafe W & Bakery is a two-floor cafe in Flushing with ample seating, high ceiling, and most importantly, pastries comparable to those I had in Seoul. If you've seen the viral Nudake croissant-themed cafe in Korea, you can find onicroissants that taste even better and with more generous fillings here. As a sucker for anything corn, the sweet corn croissant has won me over with the sweet corn cream cheese filling. While their sweet croissants are fully stuffed with custard fillings and not too sweet. If you prefer sth basic, their salt bread is also very solid. Incredibly buttery. The chive salt bread has too much cream cheese for my liking though. My favorite bread/pastries listed in order: - Sweet Corn Croissant - Bacon Chive Onicroissant - Black Sesame Raspberry Croissant - Salt Bread - Lemon Croissant - Chive Salt Bread - Baked Blueberry Bread Pudding - Injeolmi Red Bean Bun The einspanner is creamy, thick and fluffy, complementing with the nuttiness of coffee. Like most korean drinks, it is on the sweeter side. My only complaint is their location is inconvenient if you don't drive. I'm excited to try their cute cakes, bingsoo and more pastries next time.

Yelp
I've had this on my bucket list for a while, and the only reason stopping me was how it was not the most accessible without a car. There are a few options: - Take a bus - Take the LIRR to Murray Hill - Take a car I took a bus from Flushing Main St, which was about 20min. It drops you nearly right by the Cafe, but be ready for it to be a trek from the city. Is it worth it? I thought so!! I loved the different pastry options. A lot of unique flavors; everything looks beautiful! I ordered a lavender latte and two of the renowned cronigiris - the bacon mayo one. I noticed a Yelp review that mentioned the packaging. Cafe W has upgraded, and the packaging to-go is quite nice. My friend ordered a mousse dessert, and it was packaged in a pretty (and hardy) box. I got my cronigiri in a square plastic casing, and stayed intact for when we brought some of our pastries home. My friend and I enjoyed our drinks and other desserts there. It's a nice cafe; great for studying or chatting with friends. It's overall very quiet for a large space which is nice, and there's even an upstairs area. Service was good; they provided a cup of water when I asked. I liked their croissant-onigiri creation. It has a good umami flavor with kewpie mayo and bacon filling. I will say the pastry didn't as delicate folds as I'd like for a croissant, but given it's a very cool shape and a hybrid of onigiri, I don't mind. My friend and I also enjoyed their blueberry croissant. The cream was so light and fluffy. These pastries are quite large; it was optimal to use a fork and knife. I'd recommend for others to visit. The pastries here are a must-try!

Yelp
4 parking spots in front but people park way over the line so really only 3 spots. Found parking on the street a block and a half away though. The area with the breads is a little tight when there are several people grabbing breads. But the seating area on the ground floor is comfortable. I didn't even check the upstairs seating, but it looks even more comfortable in the pictures! The staff seemed like they were in a chaotic mood. The owner(?) was moving things to the back, and the receipt printer got jammed while I was in line. They were polite and efficient though. The Yuzu Earl Grey has a pretty good balance of the flavors with fresh yuzu slices, though I personally would like more Earl Grey flavor (extra bergamot for me!) The Mayo Pollack Roe Oniossant (Cronigiri) had great flavors in the mayo pollack roe mixture (onion-y garlicky). I like the crisp glaze on the outside, contrasted with the soft croissant inside. There is a decent amount of filling, though most of it is towards the bottom. Don't expect this to be a buttery airy croissant... it's a compressed croissant so that it holds its shape and fillings. I would like to try thier other flavors. The Salted Butter Bread is buttery for sure. It is too crisp on the outside for my preferences though. I wish it was soft outside like the inside. This texture seems better for their Butter Breads with fillings, which I will have to try. The Injeolmi Soybean Bread has thick layer of cream over a thin layer of red bean paste on the inside. It is the perfect balance of the two. It is also covered in injeolmi powder so it is definitely a messy eat. If you like injeolmi and red bean paste, this is worth a try. I'm not a huge fan of cream, so I personally wouldn't get this again. Pricing is on the higher end, but quality seems to be there. I like the cute subtle logos on their bags and coozies. They have unique offerings, so worth trying for those!

Yelp
Cafe W has easily become my favorite cafe in the area but this place is definitely not for the faint of heart. Mainly croissant-based pastries that are extravagant and on the rich side. They have an olive bread that is wonderful to take home and dip in olive oil too. The pastries are a little on the pricey side but pretty unique in the sense that you can't find similar pastries elsewhere - good ratio of both savory and sweet. Drinks are also pretty solid, I like their fruit-based drinks. The viral ice cream croissant is really not as insane as it's made out to be on social media--they basically just fill some soft serve in a croissant, but I will say that the black sesame/vanilla swirl soft serve itself is worth getting. The owner is also pretty active in the shop and makes sure things are running smoothly, though my last visit was extremely unpleasant when the staff rung me up for ice cream before finding out the machine was broken and didn't even apologize for making me stand around waiting and confused. Do yourself a favor and do not come during after-Church hours on Sunday. There's either a swarm of big groups of a bunch of college kids lounging--like any other cafe in the area.

Yelp
The cafe is super spacious and has so many options for pastries and drinks. I recommend the croissants and milk bread for pastries! For drinks, their sparkling ades are good as well as in einspanner! The lines move fast so there isn't much of a wait.

Yelp
This is the only place that sells croissant onigiri's aka onioissants. It's good, and what I always get, the only thing I change up is the flavor combos The place has that typical quiet-noisey vibes of a well light and busy cafe. Everyone's minding their own business so you can get your work done or meet up with your friends and be pretty loud without disturbing people. Lots of space, there's actually a second floor and that's typically where you can find little ol' me. Outlets can be found along the walls so fear not when you plan to set up somewhere for a full work day

Yelp
Cafe W definitely reminds me of some of the Korean cafes I've been to during my trip to Korea! Their baked goods are super aesthetically pleasing and instagram worthy. I came here specifically to try their onioissants (onigiri and croissants hybrid). The flavors were good but didn't have too much flakiness which was disappointing. If I had to choose I enjoyed the chive bacon cream cheese filling more as it was less dry. I also ordered their garlic butter bread which I didn't like very much. It tasted too sweet for my liking. Their salted bread with pollock roe was amazing though! It has the perfect amount of chewiness and was a savory delight. It tasted very similar to the salted bread we had in Korea. Overall, a wonderful cafe with innovative pastries and breads. Prices are reasonable as well. I'd come back next time to try their cafe drinks!

Yelp
Such a hidden gem. I can't wait to come back to try desserts. I got the black sesame latte and the foam was nice and thick, complex flavor and this sweet black sesame cream at the bottom! So unique and the staff was very attentive and friendly on a Sunday.

Yelp
Came here for the onigiri+croissant, the "onioissant" and wasn't too disappointed! They also have the popular croissant+cookie, the "crookie". Having been to Seoul in the past year, this gave Cafe Onion vibes in terms of the taste of the pastries. I would also say the breads leans towards the sweet side, which was my experience in Seoul as well haha. For the onigiri croissants, there's two flavors: mayo pollack roe, and chive bacon cream cheese. I was expecting to like the mayo pollack roe more because these things are usually saltier and more unami, but it's much sweeter than expected. On the other hand, the chive bacon one delivered on the salty aspect and was pretty delicious. I'd get that flavor again. The croissant part of this is sooo good though, the layers are there, the outside is very crispy. Croissant cookie: my first time trying the crookie and it's pretty good! I wouldn't really crave this but the combination of the two tastes yummy, although the cookie's sweetness definitely overpowers. Not a bad cookie though! I also tried the salted butter bread with pollack roe bread (can you tell I love pollack roe?) and again, it's sweeter than what I'd like, but the bread has the crispiest bottoms but really soft insides. I'd definitely get this again if in the area. With the seaweed on top, it does have more saltiness which I loved the combo of

Yelp
Love this place their food and drinks are so unique to anywhere else. The vibes in the cafe are super clean, quiet, and spacious.

Yelp
At a request from wifey, I was here for some pastries that she had seen posted on instagram. It was pretty tucked away on a side street with other Asian restaurant on the corner. Cars were parked outside the bakery and you kind of had to squeeze through them to get inside. But inside the restaurant was brightly lit and sooo spacious. I could see this place easily being a spot that you could do a wfh sheesh if you wanted. The staff were really friendly and helpful with helping me find what I was looking for. Getting there earlier probably next time would be beneficial as some of the choices were sold out. Go here!

Yelp
The W in Cafe W Bakery must stand for "WINNING" because Cafe W is a winner for sure. I was out in Queens one afternoon and was looking for a place to grab some lunch while also getting some work done. I typed "Cafe laptop work" into Yelp, which is one of my all-time favorite and super useful Yelp search phrases. As soon as I walked in I noticed how huge the cafe is! The second thing I noticed was there massive selection of delicious pastries and goodies, both savory and sweet. I opted for the onion potato bread thing (I don't actually know the real name) and oh my goodness.. I've never had anything quite like that before in my life! I can't wait to come back and try their onigiri croissant. It's a French and Japanese fusion treat that looks simply incredible. Pro tip: Upstairs has ample seating (and I mean AMPLE!) and also outlets. There's even a cute little 2nd floor back patio!

Yelp
A cute spacious café in Murray hill that serves your typical drinks, bakery items and desserts. My friends, and I wandered in here for a place to sit and relax after our lunch. We ended up ordering the tiramisu to share and found a table upstairs. The area was a perfect place to study in, with many available on a Saturday afternoon. After having one bite, we all found the tiramisu to be overly sweet. Good thing they were able to offer us free cups of water at the front. I would love to come back to try something else.

Yelp
I would come back for that earl grey mousse cake! Strawberry latte lacks a lil bit of sweetness though.

Yelp
Heard some good things about this bakery so we decided to come get some bread. The croissants were all okay. The taste was okay. Nothing really special. I wish the croissants were a little more buttery. It had a lot of filling on the inside. The raspberry jam filling was not overly sweet. We also got their vanilla ice cream soft serve. It had a good taste but wasnt creamy like regular soft serve and had a weird film on the outside so when you took a bite you can feel it in your mouth. Overall we were happy to try the croissant but wouldn't go out of our way unless we were in the neighborhood.

Yelp
We ordered a hot chocolate and a vanilla late, one of the worst drinks even worse was their pastry. One was very dry and tasted old and the other very soggy. Extremely expensive!! Two drinks and two pasties for $30!!! Paris Baguette far better!! But the ambiance was good, that was the only thing we liked. Won't be going back again for any sweets or drinks.

Yelp
This is such a lovely new cafe and bakery addition in the flushing area! There is plenty of room for seating with two whole floors, a clean bathroom and hand sanitizer/wipes :) as for the food, you can't go wrong with their savory breads and croissants... my favorite has been the scallion cream bun, their famous onioissant and chocolate almond croissant. The drinks we've tried are ok but I would go back and try the matcha eispanner, matcha croissant and squid cream cheese ciabatta. The croissant that comes with the soft serve was also a little cold and stale but could be better warmed up and served fresh (we did come later in the day). Overall, I highly recommend checking out this cafe when you're looking for a treat!

Yelp
Ok, the hype is real. I came here because of the onigiri croissant. I grabbed the last pollack roe and 1 bacon chive/cream cheese. They had a vanilla as well but I wasn't feeling sweet. The two pastries were both $6.50 each and were packed in a box. It was kind of hard to bite into and it got quite messy. I suggest cut it in half then eat. I thought I would like the pollack more but to my surprise the bacon chive and cream cheese was tastier. I definitely would come back for that. They also have some unique pastries and cant wait to give them a try next time!

Yelp
Ame in out of curiosity, my wife mentioned this cafe is new. I ordered a blueberry bread pudding $8, a bit dry. Clerk at the front made the bread pudding warm which was a nice touch. But honestly, not the best for the price-certainly there is better if you look around. The ice coffee large $6 ( ask for the ice coffee with very little ice) i basically got an cup full of ice with very little coffee. Nonetheless the coffee was brewed well. My wife wanted to try a lime pineapple mousse cake $8 and i noticed the basque cheese cake. While i love cheesecake, this cheesecake was good, not too heavy kn the cream cheese taste, somewhat fluffy but too soft. Overall good flavor better than most. My least favorite was the lime pineapple mousse, i didnt like it but my wife loved, every one has their favorites. Great open space, hard to believe its a 2 floor cafe with an amazing amount of seating and pretty relaxed atmosphere. Everything came out to $32, so not cheap. I dont know that i would come back, since is off the main street and its not cheap to have dessert here but tonight we were just walking around the neighborhood so we are here bow.

Yelp
i LOVE this place and salt bread is elite, give it a few tries because i was disappointed at first and i am addicted now!! the food: SALT BREAD!! they bake them fresh every day and when done right, it's so chewy and savory inside. the garlic bread is also fab. the space: huge space, lots of tables and also a big upstairs area where a lot of people work the service: nice!

Yelp
Fantastic Korean bakery in Murray Hill. Obviously their unique hit is the "Onioissant". These are onigiri made from croissants instead of rice. Their specialty drink is the Einspanner (hot espresso topped with cold cheese/ cream). I ordered and tried each of the Onioissants they had on offer, 2 savory and 1 sweet. They were all incredibly delicious. I prefer the savory to the sweet, but if you're interested in either flavor profile I'd recommend trying them. I also had an iced Einspanner on the baristas recommendation and it was good but it was too sweet for my liking. They do have 2 hour parking in front for customers but it's very limited and you're unlikely to find parking as all of the spots were occupied by the same cars during my visit. The interior is massive. It spans two whole stories with elevated, loft-style ceilings. There's an outdoor terrace with strip awnings. There's space to work, hang out with friends, or to take a date. I personally won't drive here again as parking is difficult but I'll bring friends on public transit or through a ride-share app.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. It has all the markings of a great bakery, but... I tried the fruit tart. Disappointed to find small spots of mold on the raspberries. For the price they charge, they should really use fresher berries. So I threw the fruit out. Then just ate the cream and crust. Not enough cream compared to the large chunk of crust you get. The cream is very tasty. The crust is too dry and bland on its own. Needs more cream filling. Chocolate croissant: Tasty, filled with chocolate mouse and covered in chocolate. Didn't like that the outer layer of the bread was a bit on the hard crusty side. Maybe from over baking. Personally, I prefer it on the soft and fluffy side. I would get this again though. Tastes great, slightly heated. Pastries are on the pricey side. They do have a lots of interesting drinks to try. As a hang out or 'work away from home' spot, this place is great! Lots of room and different forms of tables and chairs. Very comfortable and cool looking. Comfy ans cozy. A nice sized seating area can also be found up stairs. Makes a great private room. Takeout packaging. For the premium price you pay for these pastries, I expected a lot nicer packaging than a plain brown paper bag with a small hand stamped letter 'W' on the front of the bag. Similar what you get at the corner bodega... a plain brown paper bag. I took this brown paper bag, over to a friend's house for dessert. She didn't believe me when I said I purchased these at a premium priced bakery. She though I got it at a supermarket because it was packaged so shabbily. A brown paper bag??!! , she said. Each pastry is wrapped in some tissue paper then all are placed in a brown paper bag. She especially didn't believe that these were fresh, from a higher level bakery when she saw small spots of mold on the raspberries of the fruit tart. Argh! Thanks Cafe W. You made me look bad.

Yelp
The pastries are interesting, and the interior is well-designed. They put a lot of care into making sure there's adequate seating by banning laptops on certain tables. That said, the iced teas have no flavor because they're just a tea bag in iced water. The WiFi is also strangely glitchy because it constantly requires you to sign in.

Yelp
Visited Cafe W specifically to try the viral cronigiri! I had the bacon cream cheese flavor and my partner had the pollack. I enjoyed it and thought the flavor was pretty good! Kinda like a bagel with cream cheese and bacon. Wished the outside was a little crispier but enjoyed the overall taste. They're about $6-7 each. Also tried the onion cheese pastry which was good, definitely heavy on the onion though. I'd probably skip that one next time and try the Korean sweet garlic cream cheese bread instead. Small selection of pastries compared to other Asian bakeries but everything they do have looks beautiful!

Yelp
Such a nice and spacious cafe! Great for groups or solo - they have a second floor with bathrooms! Been here on the weekends and it never seemed too busy in the late afternoon but there were still a lot of customers even at 9pm. Love the bacon cronigiri - the flavor of the cream filling is sooo good. Everything looks beautifully curated and pleasing to the eyes! The shaved ice was really good but definitely pricey for the size of it. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Spacious two story cafe in flushing with desserts and pastries. Stopped by for light breakfast and got the lime pineapple mousse, a pastry with garlic butter, and iced coffee with soft serve on top. I think if I had known that the mousse cake was more like an ice cream cake and not so much a mousse I would've held off on the ice cream lol. It was refreshing but I had way too much cold stuff to eat. The garlic butter pastry was okay, but the butter was too sweet (and there was too much of it) and I think it would have been much better if it was warm. If I were to stop by again I'd probably want to try some of their butter rolls with fillings because it seemed like those were the popular item here.

Yelp
This Korean bakery is located in a space that used to be a salon. There is limited parking in the front, so you would need to find parking by meter or in the residential area. It's spacious with two floors. Cafe W offers drinks, pastries, and desserts. I ordered the Lime Pinapple Mousse, Strawberry Bingsoo, Salted Butter w/ Cream and Chive Bread, and Salted Butter w/ Pollack Roe Bread. For the price, the Lime Pineapple Mouse was definitely overpriced for something so tiny but tasted delicious. If you want to try it for the taste, go ahead. The Strawberry Bingsoo was delicious and the cookie with the cafe's logo wad a nice touch. The strawberries were very tart when I tried it, so the ice cream it came with complemented the bingsoo well without it being too sweet. The cream cheese in the Chive Bread was sweet, so don't be surprised if it's not salty. The Pollack Roe Bread on the other hand, was savory and my favorite from the two. Ordering and purchasing the items was a breeze. Once you place an order with the staff for the bingsoo, they'll give you a buzzer to let you know when to pick up your item from the other side. I was too full to try the drinks they had to offer. I will be coming back to try their sweets for my next visit.

Yelp
Roomy with surprisingly comfortable seating on the second floor with outdoor seating! I can see people hanging out here for the day and work with their laptop!

Yelp
Great service. I've been here twice and the same girl has been super helpful and friendly There are a few parking spots out in the front The first time the baked goods were alright. My most recent time here the baked goods were better. I def tried a lot more my first time. Bread is pretty pricey. Earl grey eclair - so pretty and good. Salted bread roll- first time it wasn't as soft, chewy, and slightly crunchy but this time the pollack one was soft, chewy, and slightly crunchy. Def want to try more now Potato salad bread- good but there is a light sweet glaze which I am not a fan of Cream chive pretzel bread- sweet. I am not a fan of the sweet cream when I'm expecting something savory. I wish places would note that it's slightly sweet. Pretzel bread is not salty but has the pretzel taste Tried a few mousse cakes and thought it was okay. If you get it in the summer like I did my first time then it will melt quickly so don't take it to go if you have quite a drive Espresso- good Will be back to try more things...

Yelp
I LOVE THEIR BUNS. Garlic cheese bun. Onion cheese bun. Chive and cream cheese bun. Every bun is great!!! You can also ask them to heat it up to eat there. DO IT. There are also 2 floors with lots of tables and even a sofa. Love that it's so spacious! They have a few tight parking spots in front.

Yelp
RATING: 7/10 PRO TIP: Came here mostly for the ice cream croissant cone which was super fun. This cafe is actually such a great place to hang out and study. There's bathrooms, wifi, plenty of seating upstairs. The menu is HUGE and so you will def find something you will like and most of their items and baked goods are interesting. CAFE W CLASSIC PUDDING Forogt the name of this but it's the thing with the face on it. It seemed to be their namesake item and didn't super love. It was ok/good but nothing to write home about, the textures didn't blend super well. But it was nice, had a bit of a crunch, chestnutty, and lightly sweet. Nice to try but probs wouldn't get again. BLACK SESAME ICE CREAM CROISSANT Had to do it for the vibes. Black sesame ice cream was nice and nutty, a pretty solid black sesame ice cream. The croissant cone is a fun concept and the ice cream doesn't melt through the cone which is good. It's not a bad croissant but the combo isn't necessarily greater than the sum of its parts. But it's fun, and if you like croissants and you like ice cream why not have both at once?? FINAL CATEGORY: OK/GOOD (terrible / bad / OK / GOOD / great / excellent)

Yelp
We were in area looking for dessert and coffee, came to try this place due to reviews. We got there an hour before closing, they have bingsu(shave ice), and pastry's, and some cook food. I wanted the strawberry bingsu but the machine was not working. Started to check out the pastry case, all pastry's were 50% off, i brought a croissant fill with cream and fresh slice strawberry, and a puff pastry filled with chocolate. Had the strawberry croissant on the second day it was so good, the cream was just right not too sweet and croissant nice and flaky and fresh strawberry, and the chocolate pastry was good just could have more chocolate filling. Will go back at an earlier time to try there bingsu and other items.

Yelp
I came here after having lunch nearby on a Saturday afternoon. I got here pretty late (3pm) so unfortunately, a lot of pastries were sold out. However, the place was packed even though it was pouring outside. The pastries were huge and reasonably priced. The flavors were interesting like squid ink and corn. They also had small mousse cakes as well but they were pricey ($12-$14). I tried their famous raspberry vanilla croissant which was huge. The croissant was flakey and the filling was fresh. I would definitely come back! There's so many pastries I want to try!

Yelp
whether youre looking for a study cafe or a place to grab a sweet little treat with your friends- cafe w is a go to! very spacious with a ground floor and upstairs seating. the mango mousse was so good, perfect sweetness and such a cute design. but wasn't a huge fan of the strawberry dessert pictured (can't remember the name). the pastry for that one tasted almost stale and there wasn't anything special about it

Yelp
I've seen Cafe W all over social media for a while now but didn't end up going until I heard about their onigiri croissants (onioissants). Walking in, the café is so spacious and well lit; it looked like a good spot to eat, have a drink, and chill for a few hours. I went in the afternoon and walked straight to all the pastries but it looked like a lot of stuff were sold out, especially the onigiri croissants. There weren't a lot left. I snagged a Mayo + Pollack Roe onionissant, Coffee Brioche Feuillettee, Matcha Croissant, and a Salted Butter w/ cream and Chive Bread. The onigiri croissant was still crispy and flaky on the outside and was actually stuffed with a good amount of pollack roe. It was good, but it probably isn't everyone's cup of tea. I was confused by the Coffee Brioche Feuillettee; it was fluffy and flaky but there was no coffee flavor at all. The Matcha Croissant was my favorite; it was flaky and buttery and the matcha cream on the inside was perfect. The Salted Butter with Cream and Chive Bread unfortunately was not a favorite; the cream was very overwhelming and the bread was just ok. Café W is a cute café with many things to try. Some are either hits or misses depending on what you like. I do have to warn that everything is quite expensive to me.

Yelp
Been here twice already and the ambience is top notch!! There is a downstairs area, expansive upstairs area with outlets and roof deck area where you can sit. Initially came here for the pistachio cream latte, which was superb. But, my new favorite are the iced regular and matcha einspanner drinks. They are a sweet treat and the perfect pick me up for the afternoon after a heavy meal. Chocolate mousse was about $12-13 and just okay, but I mainly come here for the drinks. Staff are extremely nice and will not kick you out even after chatting for hours. Bathrooms are very well maintained.

Yelp
A roomy cafe, with more seats than your average NYC cafe. They sell baked goods Asian-bakery style, where you grab a pair of tongs and a tray and have at it. Every pastry they have is around the 5-7 dollar range. The double chocolate croissant was a highlight for me. The pistachio latte was okay but the flavor of the espresso itself seemed muddled with the sweetness of the syrups. A good place to do some work for a bit. They have three parking spots in the front, with a 2 hour limit, but there's also street parking around the area.

Yelp
TLDR; came here for the cronigiri, left with disappointment. Like many of the customers, I came to Cafe W after reading the Eater NY article featuring their cronigiri. I was impressed with the beautiful open space, the radiance from the natural lighting (lots of windows, which I love!), the chic upstairs dining area, and the gorgeous array of picture perfect pastries. I specifically chose the description "picture perfect " because that's the only thing going for them -- pretty on the outside, flavorless on the inside. I ordered the regular bingsoo, the cronigiri with the vanilla creme, and the raspberry croissant. The bingsoo was overpriced and bland -- if you want great bingsoo for the same price (or less), drive across the GWB to Pal Park and check out Cafe Mocha and Cafe Leah. The cronigiri and croissant most likely used the same dough, and it wasn't buttery and flakey, and lacked the slight pull/chew a good croissant has. This is a textbook example of an eatery that seems glamourous on Instagram but leaves your tastebuds unfulfilled and shortchanged (and at that price point, their desserts should have tasted better). And I wasn't the only one who thought so -- I saw a couple other tables with abandoned, half-eaten cronigiris. What a shame, truly a shallow eating experience. I would have given Cafe W only 2 stars but gave an extra 3rd star the young lady at the counter -- I guess they were short staffed so she was soloing as cashier, barista, bingsoo maker, and greeter. I wish I remembered her name because that young lady deserves a raise for all that hard work!!! (I want to say her name was Jessie? But I could be mistaken, so it was whoever was working on 7/21/24 in the evening -- thank you for you positive attitude and great service!) If you need new photos/content for your socials, this is definitely the place for you, but if you're looking for some good eats, hold fast to your wallets and run somewhere else, without looking back. Life is short, bakeries are aplenty, and bellies are limited -- save yourself time and agony and skip Cafe W.

Yelp
Stopped by after dinner, looking for dessert. Ordered the Earl Grey Cassis Mousse. $13.66 after tax. Earl grey flavor can be a bit stronger. But tasty blueberry sauce inside. Lots of interesting flavors pastry. Would like to try next time. Very nice interior. However, maybe the owner's kid was there running around from kitchens to seating area.

Yelp
I ordered an iced matcha latte with less sugar and the corn croissant. Both were delicious. My sister ordered the chives and cream cheese bread with a pistachio latte. She recommend mixing the latte otherwise sipping on the cream alone would be too sweet. This is a nice spot to chill and study. Lots of space and not very crowded. I think there's a second floor but we didn't go since there were spots on the first floor. I would definitely try their other pastries and cakes next time.

Yelp
Super cute bakery with 2 floors and an outside balcony. Plenty of seating throughout both floors as well as beautiful high ceilings on the first floor. Very aesthetically pleasing. There was no line, so I was able to order quickly. I just got a drink since I had eaten already, but it was pretty average. If the interior wasn't so amazing, this would probably be a four star place based on their drinks, but the interior passed my expectations with the spaciousness and amazing lighting.

Yelp
Late night run to get dessert with friends and we decided to go to Cafe W. This place is good and we decided to get the strawberry bingsoo, Mr.W special mousse, and strawberry latte. The strawberry latte isn't as good as the other things on the menu such as the strawberry bingsoo. The W cake is also good, the flavor of coffee is spot on. It's a cute cafe with adorable decorations perfect for photos. The items were kinda pricey though but definitely worth it with parking outside and a lot of space to dine in and get some work done!

Yelp
The cutest cafe spot with various menu items and spacious, minimalist interior! We tried the popular 소금빵, which is a buttery slightly salted roll. My favorite was the black sesame ice cream - the creaminess doesn't overwhelm the nutty flavor - and the matcha eispanner. It's definitely on the sweet side but you have to indulge every once in a while! The pastries were so beautiful and artfully crafted - unfortunately, their popular mousses are made with tree nuts so I could not taste but my friends said the mango and coffee flavor were their favorites.

Yelp
I spontaneously decided to visit this trendy new cafe when I discovered they had wifi, and we needed to get work done. The place is humungous, stretching beyond the first floor to the second, with even a patio area. We got the Iced Vanilla Latte w/ Oat Milk ($6.75) and Iced Lavender Latte w/ Oat Milk ($6.75) and both were pretty good! They were on the sweeter side, but I love that they fill the drinks to the brim! I never had a Lavender drink before I think, so it was fun to taste the hints of tame floral in the mix. We spent quite some time there doing work, but I honestly couldn't tell because of how in the zone you can get. The ambiance was studying and doing work mixed with friends catching up, so it was pretty casual. There's also plenty of tables to space yourselves out from everyone. The amount of times workers came up to clean is not missed. They are pristine! The prices are expensive, but it's needed to upkeep this fantastic huge space. I'd come again to try their desserts.
