Where to Eat at Portland International Airport (PDX) - Eater Portland

"Café Yumm! is a smart option in Concourse C, specifically because its namesake dish is only available in the Pacific Northwest: The Yumm Bowl looks like just-your-average rice bowl with salsa, veggies, and cheese, but its eponymous Yumm sauce — tangy and a little salty — makes it a distinctive Made in Oregon staple." - Zoe Baillargeon

Google
I am a long time cafe yumm lover and yumm sauce addict. I absolutely LOVE that they open at 5am so I could enjoy the sauce one last time before leaving Oregon on a early morning flight. Today was my first time trying their breakfast and I had the huevos rancheros. I have to say I was unimpressed, literally one egg scrambled and overcooked and 2 tiny slices of avo that were almost entirely brown. The rice and beans were of course good but they were also very skimpy on the cheese. I would skip the rancheros and go for one of the tried and true bowls instead 🙌🏼 Nice staff, fast, and good energy even though it was so early. Appreciate them!

Google
The service was really fast and the workers were nice. I just didn't like the food which could just be personal preference. I think my main issue was the yumm! sauce I don't think I liked that. The portions aren't great. Also the prices are outdated on the pictures of the menu online. I should've taken pictures my bad. In summary If I had to do it over again I wouldn't go. However if you want it get it we might have different tastes. My total was $16 for the smokey bowl with chicken.

Google
I was skeptical because I thought this would be asian cuisine (I'm sometimes intimidated by asian ingredients and sauces) but it turned out to be the same food I am used to, just with a subtle twist. I was unsure about the "Yumm sauce" even after the nice employee described it to be so he gave me a sample. It was great! It reminds me of a subtle tangy sauce, like tomatillo without the spice. The other ingredients were exactly what was detailed on the menu, and were very fresh. The flavors came together deliciously! In addition, there are many gluten free options and what the celiac in our party ordered did not cause her to get sick.

Google
The gal working the counter was super friendly and helpful. This is someone who genuinely loves people and doing a good job. The staff all seemed to be friendly and working well together. This pays off with the service. My order was made fast and as requested. I'll be coming back next time I fly thru PDX.

Google
Kudos to the lady in the kitchen with the blue hair that jumped right on to a register to help, after she noticed the line was backing up. Food is awesome and this gesture made me rate this place 5 stars. 👍

Google
I got the teriyaki tempeh bowl, The food was pretty good but on the salty side. I also got a plant protein drink which ended up being grainy. The bowl plus a drink was $18 dollars.

Google
Stopped here before my flight. The food was pretty good but it was a bit pricy for only one skewer. They did give plenty of rice to fill you up. The coleslaw had WAY too much mayo. Free drink refills too.

Google
Most friendly restaurant in this airport. Even at 9pm. Employees are so great and kind to everyone. Food is of course great.

Yelp
I love this location at PDX! It's very nice to have a solid veggie spot at PDX and the staff here is super nice and accommodating. Travel can be stressful and a fresh Yum Bowl with all of the fixin's just makes it better. It's a great to-go option for your flight home as well. I ask for my bowl vegan and always comes out 10/10. They also have packets of hot sauce and sides. I always try to stop here when I am in the C concourse.

Yelp
Haven't had Cafe Yumm for a few years and was craving it. Was at PDX airport and wanted a bowl. Ordered the Hot and Jazzy...my usual go to in the past. Asked if they had the liquid aminos and the guy at the counter assured me they did. Come to find out they were out of it. It was 1:00 in the afternoon. I told him fine and got my order. What a disappointment. My medium bowl was barely full and everything in it was mushy. Nothing at all like years past. For $11 it was quite the disappointment. Went on-line to find a copy cat recipe and that is what I will be doing in the future when the craving strikes. I think this company is now relying on their history and has actually cut costs. Now the bowls are not the same and cheap replacements. Sad.

Justin H.

Yelp
Fast, friendly, fresh and nourishing. This cute local staple never lets you down. I love the Hot 'N' Jazzy with extra avocado. The BBQ Tofu skewer is such great item. And I love to finish my meal with an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie. Before I leave I like to grab a bottle of Yumm! Sauce for the fridge.

Yelp
Cafe Yumm! PDX I was hard traveling like Woody Gutherie in Oregon. I was in need of eats at PDX aka Portland International Airport. I live in San Francisco these days yet have lived in both Portland and Eugene. I love Eugene. As a longtime vegan I love the cuisine in Oregon especially PDX aka Portland and Eugene which has some of the best vegetable forward vegan cuisine anywhere. When I was in both Portland and Eugene I was a fan of Cafe Yumm! Perhaps I am mistaken Cafe Yumm for Laughing Planet yet the one in the Whit in Eugene in awesome besides cuisine has the coolest art anywhere from Frank Zappa photographs to R. Crumb paintings with three futures aka dystopian, future like the Jetsons and back to the land hippie paradise. Enough here's to there' back to where I was in the moment of then about to head home to SFO from PDX. I was hungry so I got a bite at Cafe Yumm! In the airport. Awesome cuisine. I got the large original bowl and added organic tofu. Since I wasn't doing the cream cheese and cheese was able to sub cabbage and shredded carrots. Very healthy and nourishing bowl. Recommended in PDX when traveling. I was they had a Cafe Yumm! in the SF Bay Area.

Yelp
Stopping by here before my flight is always a must!Great customer service. They are efficient, kind and quick. I always order the hot and jazzy hot with chicken or tofu and it's amazing every time. Can't wait for the next time I fly out!

Yelp
The staff are amazing and the food... chef's kiss! It's the perfect spot for a weary traveler who is hungry. The vegan and vegetarian options are fantastic!

Yelp
Came home from a trip, was starving and stopped at Cafe Yumm. The food was so good and the service was great. Really friendly staff and quick service.

Inigo M.

Yelp
Good food, decent price, pleasant staff. Not much else to say besides this superfluous sentence to meet Yelp minimum sentence count requirements.
google avatar

Monique S.

Yelp
I'm from Oregon but never tried cafe yumm until today. And I'm so happy I did, the yumm bowl was delicious, and staff were quick and friendly. I will definitely be grabbing a bowl on my return flight .

Yelp
This is a perfect spot for travelers looking for a healthy and delicious meal on the go. I had the Hot and Jazzy wrap it. The staff greeted me promptly and were so friendly. The food was ready in minutes. Great send off for my vacation this morning. Tip- they have sriracha and tapitio packets.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
The food was good and fresh for airport food. We were in a rush to catch a flight and everything came out very quickly.
google avatar

Cole J.

Yelp
As a frequent business traveler in and out of PDX, Cafe Yumm is my favorite place to start my trip. I always look forward to my stops here before my flights. The entire morning crew is always friendly and on top of things to provide a quality experience. Best food in the PDX airport hands down!!
google avatar

Martina C.

Yelp
Airport food typically isn't great but thankfully we have Cafe Yumm at PDX! You can eat HEALTHY and have great food all at once. I got the edamame bowl and made it vegan with extra avocado. I was not disappointed! It was warm, filling and fresh. Exactly what you need while traveling, not heavy and greasy junk food. Fill up on goodness at Cafe Yumm!

Katrina N.

Yelp
this is the ONLY place to go when you're at the PDX airport!! best service, always friendly, and the food is delicious and well priced. favorite restaurant in the northwest area!

Brian A.

Yelp
Large Southwest bowl was decent & filled me up. BBQ tofu skewer was ok. I'd probably pass getting tofu skewer next time but would get SW bowl again. Service was good and friendly. I'll be back again.
google avatar

Collin E.

Yelp
At Cafe Yum you'll find tasty, comfort food that's fast, good quality, and affordable. With no frills, you won't walk away astonished, but instead you'll leave happy and satisfied.

Yelp
I've got to say, I craved this place. I landed in PDX hungry and looking for a quick it. I got one of their wraps which was delicious and hot the spot. I couldn't wait to get another wrap in PDX on my way out of Portland, and I did! The staff is really nice as well.

Cathy P.

Yelp
Tired, hungry and so happy to get decent service and go on my way feeling good about the quality of food! I will eat at Cafe Yum again!

Laylanie L.

Yelp
favorite place to eat breakfast, my absolute go-to when flying out. Always fast and good customer service

Casey M.

Yelp
Amazing service! Food was perfect! Love this spot! I stop by every time I fly. Best spot at the airport.

Yelp
More of a grab and go food, could be pretty healthy if made the right choice. Nothing interesting about this one

Tram D.

Yelp
Love this place! It's my favorite spot to go to whenever I go to the airport. The morning staff people are my favorite. They're always super nice & funny. A great way to start my trip!

Linda J.

Yelp
Went to NE Portland location for first time. Not easy to find street parking -- parked in a lot that thankfully had free parking for an hour. Once inside, there was no clear indication on where the line starts to place the order. Cashier took my friends order and left to go to a different register and helped someone else instead. Could have asked me if I needed help (if he thought I was waiting for her), or tell me the line started elsewhere and then helped me. On the way out, was told my order was not made correctly -- had chicken when none was requested. Food quality poor -- watery sauce, not much chicken; didn't taste good; overpriced. I would give it zero stars if I could. Definitely will not be back.
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
My man ordered food for us & he wanted to be healthy. It did not disappoint! This stuff is bomb! Big portion too with lots of chicken! I added sriracha on it& it was 10x better! I'm so full now. Hopefully I can try other dishes.
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Excellent options, the flavor is just not for me and it would have been a little better if it was hotter(as in temperature the food was room temperature, not spicier ). I'll have to tinker with the choices next time instead of getting the standard options . I ordered the jazzy bowl with southwest chicken and sauce on the side .not sure what the difference between plain chicken and southwest but it looked and tasted like plain chicken . GET THE COOKIE ! I picked the ginger spice one because it's gluten free . *oh and I like the bottled water they have as well as the kombucha selection.*

Yelp
It's surprisingly hard to find soup - not chowder - at airports (My PDX go-to is Bambuza's wonton noodle soup, but it can be too much food & I hate to waste). Also, Potbelly's "machine" was down so they weren't serving soup. Hence, Cafe Yumm! Cut to the chase: it's a good option before a flight, not too heavy but satisfying and filling. Plus it's quick. My order: The Chilean Zucchini soup is piping hot, and comes with a roll & butter. Tips: - If you need a heartier meal do the Souper, then you get brown rice with it. - Add the pat of butter for the roll into the soup for creaminess & to cut acid I, typically, steer clear of soups that use tomato as a base...unless I want tomato soup. They remind me too much of the canned soups. But a slight hint of curry elevated the Chilean Zucchini, and it was chock full of veggies.

Jenna K.

Yelp
I normally love Cafe Yumm. But I ventured here for a quick breakfast before a flight. Eggs were cold and hard, the whole bowl was barely above room temperature. Plus, no calories listed for breakfast options. I will pass on them in the future.
google avatar

Shon K.

Yelp
My first Café Yumm experience and my most frequent one to visit as I was flying every monthish for the most part. The team here works in a fairly high traffic area and they sure know how to work quick, accurate and professional without losing any of the friendly nature you would expect from a service industry business. I was in here pretty regularly as stated, never had a bad experience with the food (always fresh and as ordered or the team working.

Yelp
Amazing new skewers and Yum bowls! I wish they had these places where I live. So yummy!
google avatar

Gayl B.

Yelp
I had half a salmon burger and half a ginger veggie burger (sharing each with the hubby). The veggie burger sounded really yummy with the asian slaw, but it was rather dry. However, the salmon burger really hit the spot. Definitely a fishy flavor, but if you like salmon, you'll like this. The veggie burger also came with some tortilla chips that were quite addicting. Before I knew it, I'd eaten the entire bag. Oops.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food I got the yummlet which is eggs salsa quinoa and cheese it tasted great and I could eat it all day the staff is also really friendly

Yelp
Happy to find a vegan/vegetarian-centric place to eat. YAY! Ordered the SEITAN REUBEN SANDWICH, comes with tortilla chips and a proper crunch pickle. Also CHIPOTLE VEGAN CHILI, comes with a roll and a pat of butter. (not vegan). The reuben mimicked the meat version very well...and it was a thick piece of seitan, and it was a hearty sandwich. Comfort food without the meat! It's not visually appealing, probably because the bread was charred...but I scrapped off the burnt toast, and enjoyed it's yummy verisimilitude. The chili...it was spicy hot and smoky...it was a bit much for my tastebuds...but I ate half and was satisfied...comes with a tough hard roll and butter, which is funny since someone ordering vegan probably doesn't want regular milk-based butter, just saying. Might be nice to have a vegan butter option. OVERALL -- Service was friendly and helpful. When I asked it the bottled REED GINGER ALE needed a bottle opener, the cashier said it was a screw top but if I needed help with it, he'd help me. I'd eat there again if I'm passing thru PDX, I'd love to try other things like their BENTO box. Good dining experience. Ample seating available.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I always stop here when I head out of town. Very fast, healthy, not too heavy, but extremely savory and satisfying. Original Yumm bowl with grilled chicken is my go-to.

Tell E.

Yelp
Cafe GROSS more like it! My dish was clearly prepared hours before perhaps even the night before as my "organic egg" have the consistency of rubbermade Tupperware. It was more firm and chewy like a piece of meat jerky than it was a fluffy scrambled egg. It was placed on top of brown rice which was fine with partway frozen tomatoes and Frozen cheese dumped on top. Like I said Gross and not worth the $12 I paid. To add insult to injury they have programmed their kiosk to ask for tips?!?!?
google avatar

Loren R.

Yelp
I love breakfast. I love the healthy greaseless egg " or tofu" b- fasts here. Bonus. I just had b-fast at 5pm. Yippee. I add avacado to their yum bowl. Breakfast perfection. 5 th time here. Consistently excellent.

Yelp
So I'm at the airport for a few hours and don't want to spend $$ for breakfast (I'm looking at you The Country Cat PDX) so I decided to walk to the other terminal to see what options there were. Uh....yes! Cafe Yumm! Sounds good. I have one near work but never went to it before. Oh look, they have a breakfast. I ordered from a super nice employee, the Racheros Yumm! It came with two corn tortillas, topped with brown rice, scrambled eggs (can opt for tofu) salsa, black beans avocado, cheese, sour cream and lots of olives. Tons of olives, a little too much. I added some not very spicy siracha and each bite was tasty and filling. Really, the star was the tortilla on the bottom. They were able to crisp it up and the cheese melted on it. All of that goodness for $8. Now I know where to eat at the airport if I want something healthy. I feel it's worth the amount you pay unlike a lot of airport food. I would have liked a little more spice, a little less olives but Cafe Yumm! You live up to your name.

Yelp
Let's just say that Cafe Yumm! messed up the beginning of my Oregon trip. After landing at PDX, I was hungry and needed something to eat, because I was about to embark on a 2 hour shuttle ride to Corvallis. Ordered what I thought was a simple egg breakfast bagel, ended up taking FOREVER!!!! Other people who ordered complex meals after my order, got their food before me. Next I couldn't find any ketchup to add to my eggs, nor any forks. I ended up using chopsticks? Because the food took a decade, my luggage was hustled away from the carousel to the baggage claim area. Talk about making your heart pound. Now the food. It was so messy! I don't understand, but the eggs were in a scramble form and fell all over the place. I ended up making a huge mess, totally made me leary about how the rest of my trip was going to play out. Fortunately it was a good trip. In conclusion, don't go here if you are in a rush.

Yelp
Not sure about the hype I hear from people. I stopped in on the reference from a colleague. I ordered a large Jazzy bowl with chicken and a small Lentil Soup. First of all the service was very quick and friendly, but there really was no line; just one person in from of me. Now the food. The Jazzy bowl was just okay, nothing special. All of the ingredients were fresh (rice, avocado, tomatoes), but there really was nothing special about the entire bowl. They call themselves Café Yumm and sell their Yumm! sauce, but it was just a rice bowl with chicken. I am not sure what is in the sauce and I still don't know, because the amount that was on my 'large' order was about the size of a dime. I couldn't taste anything different, unusual, or YUMM! I was just an ok chicken bowl with jasmine rice and beans. So, what up with this Yumm! If you say Yumm, I want some YUMM! Chicken rice bowl complete, now onto the soup. The small Lentil soup was tasty, but, oh man, was it thick! I could spackle holes in my wall with that stuff. It was definitely not a soup, but more of a paste. There was absolutely no liquid. But it did have nice flavor and was hot. So, all in all, I was not impressed with the Café Yumm. Oh, and by the way, if you intend on asking them for extra sauce, the Yumm Sauce, be prepared to pay for it. I guess I should have gone for that, since I couldn't taste any at all on my bowl.

Amy A.

Yelp
This chain was once reliable but no more. Order was COLD and special instructions were ignored. Too pricey for this.
google avatar

Jana C.

Yelp
Whole pint of Pilsner and something relatively healthy to tide me over--- $8. That's pretty darn good! The beer, that is. Edamame, nori, and nacho toppings are sort of , well, just gross. I don't want olives and tomatoes when I'm having clean soy beans. I don't want yellow mustardy goo coating my crispy, briny, salty seaweed bits. Can't do that one again.
google avatar

Lara R.

Yelp
This location is very fast if you need something quick to eat. My food was prepared and ready for pick up in less than 5 minutes. Very nice staff at the front of the store.
google avatar

Christy K.

Yelp
It might just be me or what I ordered, but my food was disgusting. I had the Souper Bowl with African Butternut Soup and the flavor was that of vomit. I give 3 stars instead of one because I'm hoping it was just the soup flavor that I didn't like, not that there was something wrong with the dish. The toppings were fresh and the presentation was really nice. Plus, the employees were kind. I wish I'd asked to taste the soup before ordering the bowl.
google avatar

Mz T.

Yelp
This place is very sorry. The pictures looks very delicious. But when I received my food it was in a paper cup that's looks like for soup. I received three small cups and handle to and and asked if I want a bag? It common senses to pack it if it more than two items. The chicken teriyaki is very very salty as it soak in soy sauce or something. The tofu skewer is hard and dry. This two side order super small portion not even worth the prices$ 3.50-4.50. Lastly the original bowl, the brown rice is so hard, I'm pretty sure I read the menu and nothing about sour cream and some weird yellow sauce that taste like sour. This place is waste of money. I will not come back here.
google avatar

Mary W.

Yelp
Delicous food while on the run between gates...lol. I ordered chicken bowl, it was delicious. Chicken was very tender and flavorful.
google avatar

Yang C.

Yelp
Got the Breakfast Rancheros. Well, it's like an open-face taco. But the sauce was too sour... I didn't really like the taste. The ingredients are really rich though.
google avatar

Josh N.

Yelp
Thank goodness for Cafe Yumm at the airport. I was stressed about finding something moderately healthy and gluten free at the airport. In steps Cafe Yumm where you can customize your own bowl and eat clean and healthy. I wish we had more options like this.

Yelp
Efficient. Super customer service. Perfect for people with dietary restrictions. Delicious!
