Cake Therapy - Review - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Cake Therapy in the Mission specializes in (obviously) cakes, with rotating flavors that spotlight Filipino and other Asian ingredients. Standouts include a pandan cake crowned with just-sweet-enough coconut buttercream and a bold shot of sugary buko jam, and a dark chocolate pistachio cake thick enough to resist your fork on the way down. And while the cake slices are the main draw, the sometimes-available matcha mochi brownie has everything going for it, too. It's crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, and has a fudgy finish. Hours at the bakery vary, and there is a limited inventory for walk-ins, so it’s best to pre-order online and schedule a pick-up to avoid any disappointment. video credit: Patrick Wong" - Patrick Wong

its not bad but quite expensive for what it is. I paid $6 for a cookie — granted, a rather large one, but dandelion chocolate is 2 blocks down, just as hefty, and charges $4.75. The mochi brownie was just a dense brownie, and the matcha strawberry cookie mostly just tasted like a sugar cookie. The staff and space are warm and inviting, so I am open to giving them a second chance. But the hours are not convenient and I have not had the chance to visit again. Check them out if you happen to pass by and don’t mind paying a higher price point, but it’s not worth planning around, especially when the competition in a 2 block radius is so stiff.

Super cute find in the neighborhood! They’re Asian owned and fairly new. We got their most popular ube tiramisu which was so decadent and creamy it lasted us a few days! Will definitely go again to try out the other baked goods. There’s a few indoor seating spots and a cute plant ambience.

Lovely. Delicious. Moist. Flavorful, perfectly prepared. What a great way to treat yourself, friends, and family. We had the ube banana bread, black sesame cookie, and cinnamon swirl. Strongy recommend! Thank you!

Incredible baked goods in a lovely atmosphere. I tried the black sesame chocolate chip cookie, brown sugar chocolate chip cookie, and banana bread, and stayed to get a fresh from the oven slice of ube banana bread. Everything is so good!!

Absolutely delicious! Warm, welcoming and gorgeous storefront. The crispiness of the black sesame cookie and the crust and almost mochi-like texture of the banana bread (regular and ube) were to die for. Must try one of everything..

I’ve been eating Andrew’s baked goods for free for the last few years. About time I started paying for them. The chocolate chip cookies are goated.

Yelp
On my lunch break I like to walk the surrounding neighborhood. I came across this awesome little boutique dessert cafe. This perfectly situated cafe is located in a newer building the Mission. Cafe has clean crisp interiors with cozy seating. The desserts are the star. Traditional flavors and pastries are displayed but the Filipino/Asian inspired desserts are exceptional. Very instagramable worthy!!! Recommend and will be back! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJcvX5YBV5h/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Yelp
I went to the Yum Yams annual event with lots of local small business vendors food and retail pop up shops. The lovely presentation and friendly owner made me want to try something at his booth. I asked what the best seller item was and he said the Black Sesame and chocolate chip cookie was, so I bought it. He also makes vegan Ube banana bread. If I could eat everything on the table I would. lol Surprisingly I bought my first non Ube dessert and I was not disappointed. Cookie has a unique flat circle shaped with sea salt sprinkles on top and it had a nice soft l, moist chewy texture that lasted more than 3 days. I divided the cookie in 3 parts to enjoy it over 3 days. It was the best cookie I had from the event. I had tried another vendor with an Ube cookie and it was just alright and nothing special. I was a chicken and didn't get the vegan banana bread item. The reason he made it was because his friend is vegan and he wanted to make her something that she could actually eat which is nice. But it did look good. I know some vegan pastries can be good and can also be bad. Visually that slice looked great. Maybe next time I can try it, if I see his pop up again. Very nice owner baker. The website said they do preorders and have pop ups too. Yes I wouldn't mind trying another sweet next time.

Yelp
I have never enjoyed scones....too dry for me. BUT the black sesame scone at Cake Therapy has given me hope! Made me a believer ! It was delightfully moist and full of flavor. I'll be going back for that. Plus their cookies are moist and delectable. The kind that leaves a slight oil mark on the bag.THAT is the hallmark of a gourmet cookie in my book. I LOVED them! And the atmosphere was bright, clean, and welcoming. I came all the way from Berkeley on BART and I'll certainly be going back.

Yelp
small part-time filipino bakery run by andrew who is super sweet and nice!! the bakes change quite a bit and are always pretty creative :") the ube banana bread was moist and light but couldn't really taste much ube... the black sesame chocolate chip cookie was fire though not too sweet wish the black ssm flavor was stronger but I love black ssm so I'm picky
