The Best Nachos In London - London - The Infatuation

"Attention to detail isn’t something you can usually say about a pile of nachos. But Caldera, a Mexican-inspired spot in Hackney, gets it. They’ve got well-salted tortilla chips, guacamole with the right chunk-to-smooth ratio, and an abundance of green toppings. You’ve got sliced rounds of spring onion, large jalapeños, and coriander—plus charred, roasted salsa which makes this feel like a balanced meal rather than a cheesy, carby mess. If we had to choose one bowl of nachos to eat forever, we’re happy for it to be these." - sinead cranna

Caldera Review - Hackney - London - The Infatuation

"Caldera is a Mexican-inspired spot in Hackney that we could definitely nap in. It draws you in for “just a few to pick at” totopos with well-seasoned guacamole, but keeps you ordering with corn kernels with chipotle aioli, and before you know it you’re wrist deep in a bowl of nachos. And these are really good nachos. Well-salted tortilla chips, fresh guacamole with the right chunk-to-smooth ratio, and an abundance of green toppings like spring onion, large jalapeños, and coriander. This is just a really pleasant spot in which to lounge, nestled between rows of empty chipotle pepper cans and propped up on calavera-print cushions. Then you can weigh up your post-nachos options—namely, crispy pork belly tacos and sea bass ceviche. " - Sinéad Cranna

Caldera is an amazing spot with delicious food that’s full of flavor and beautifully made. Every dish feels special, and it’s clear a lot of love goes into the cooking. It’s the kind of place where the food alone makes you excited to come back again and again. The vibe at Caldera is just as good as the food. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, making it a perfect place to hang out with friends or enjoy a nice night out. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Caldera really is a restaurant you can’t help but love.

Amazing food and experience!! The quality was high standards and the food came out really fast. Tacos, margaritas, quesadillas and the lamb was outstanding. Our service from Francesca was outstanding, really polite and anything we need happy to help with a smile. Thanks again for the experience.

Lovely experience, the food was all stunning and great portion size. The price is very fare and it has a lovely menu selection without being overwhelming.

Been coming here for years, pre and post pandemic. Consistant menu, and chicken tinga is always great, margs hit the mark. Lots of creativity on the menu. Welcoming staff and dog friendly. Best seats are the booths in the front if you want to be away from the noise.

DO NOT ORDER FOR DELIVERY. I ordered once and the food was okay, however, after ordering a second time I will not order again. Shocking quality and value for money. They delivered a plain cheese quesadilla instead of chicken, with a price difference of £5.50. The cheese was barely melted and cold. Nachos were delivered in a soggy box which was falling apart. The nachos themselves were flavourless. A plain cheese quesadilla and terrible quality nachos for over £19 (would have been £7 more without Deliveroo discount code). See photos for reference...

my favourite place in london! amazing food everything is homemade from the tortillas to the sauces, i have come back countless times. The top dishes for me are the elote chicken wings, 18 hour beef short rib (whole rib is served) tacos and the prawn tacos! On top of that it is beautifully decorated and has a nice vibe with latin/spanish music. Go on tuesdays it’s 2 tacos for 5 pounds

Great food and drinks, and lovely friendly service. The only dish we wouldn't rave about was the aubergine burrito, which was predominantly rice. Tasty, but just a bland texture. However we mentioned thisntomthe waiter and they brought over more sauce.

Yelp
I loved my grilled prawn tacos (spicy!) and ceviche but my husband said his steak tacos were bland, despite the neat padron peppers a top. The price is decent for three tacos. He loved his chicken tinga burrito tho: said it was full of flavour. The margaritas are fantastic: potent and yet subtle. The waiter was fairly attentive. I Table water provided in old tequila bottles. I would definitely return.
