They’ve got well-salted tortilla chips, guacamole with the right chunk-to-smooth ratio, and an abundance of green toppings. You’ve got sliced rounds of spring onion, large jalapeños, and coriander—plus charred, roasted salsa which makes this feel like a balanced meal rather than a cheesy, carby mess. "Caldera is a Mexican-inspired spot in Hackney that we could definitely nap in. It draws you in for “just a few to pick at” totopos with well-seasoned guacamole, but keeps you ordering with corn kernels with chipotle aioli, and before you know it you’re wrist deep in a bowl of nachos. And these are really good nachos. Well-salted tortilla chips, fresh guacamole with the right chunk-to-smooth ratio, and an abundance of green toppings like spring onion, large jalapeños, and coriander. This is just a really pleasant spot in which to lounge, nestled between rows of empty chipotle pepper cans and propped up on calavera-print cushions. Great Mexican joint right next to the best building in London. I’m not a Mexican food expert but I rate this place! Fish taco - 8.5/10 Fish cooked well, moist and flakey, batter was crispy which contrasted well. Condiments and dressing paired superb. Fish could do with some more seasoning. Best dish, had to order two portions. Padron taco - 7/10 Deep fried and battered pepper, great flavour and texture. Batter separated from pepper when taking bite not sure if I need better teeth?? Steak taco - 7/10 Meaty and beefy flavour although slightly chewy. The sauce was really good though. Pork taco - 6/10 Pulled pork looked a bit dry and was a bit dry (no photo sorry). I think would be better with the steak taco sauce (hint hint). Pumpkin taco - 8/10 If I were vegetarian or vegan I’d say this was the best dish. Very complex flavours, sweet, savoury, spicy. Texture maybe leaned more on the mushy side? Overall - 8/10 I’ve been here a few times and I think it will become regular place for me, esp on taco Tuesdays. I would recommend the tacos for sure, the quesadillas aren’t bad either, nachos are fine. Service and vibe are good too.

Beautiful Mexican-inspired dishes in a beautiful space. The food is definitely fusion rather than authentic Mexican, but beautifully presented. The aubergine was the standout for us, but it we were less impressed with the shrimp tacos and ceviche. Overall though, a nice place for a weekend lunch - perfect ambience and music!

Ordered 2 frozen margaritas and guacamole- the margaritas were not frozen, but iced, and the guacamole was disappointing. We pulled out guac from the store since it was better, which says something. I called to discuss but they just left me on hold then hung up. Discouraging cause we were really exciting to try the place.

Went for a family dinner to celebrate our son's birthday. We had a mixture of vegetarian, pescetarian, and a definite meat eater! The nachos were a good portion. Enough for 3 to share. The tostadas and fish tacos were very tasty. The tostadas had a nice level of spice, leaving you with a hot mouth but not a fire! The pork burrito was pretty large and good (by all accounts). At the end they brought out churros with a chocolate sauce as a gift. I've had better but the portion size in this case was just about right and they weren't overly sweet. If we were in the area I'd go back.

Such a good spot. All the staff were friendly, accommodating and made it really easy for a big table of people ordering lots of different things. The bottomless margaritas for £22 is a STEAL and the strawberry one was particularly nice, they’re not stingy with the refills either. Food was 10/10, I’m veggie and was super impressed. Will be back for sure and would recommend to anyone!

Mezcal mezcal mezcal! Excellent Tacos and great agave spirits on the bar. In case I never mentioned, absolutely delicious mezcal cocktails!

This was brilliant. Mexican food isn't even my favourite but everything was so well balanced. Really appreciated how not everything had coriander in it! Chicken quesadillas were amazing, as well as baja fish tacos, the ceviche, the guacamole and totopos, and the grilled king prawns taco w/ guacamole & gochujang sauce (quite spicy!). The cocktails were great and the 2 for 1 deal was AMAZING!

We went here for dinner and drinks with friends. Drinks were good, chicken quesadillas was delicious and so was the sea bass in sweet tomato sauce. However the chicken burrito was completely dry and tasteless.
