Best Barbecue Restaurants in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"In Gilbert, local barbecue veteran Clay Caldwell serves up Texas-style smoked meats from a converted house surrounded by fields. Offset smokers puff away, producing juicy, flavorful ribs and a brisket that many people contend is one of the best in Arizona. Vibes are chill — picnic tables, umbrellas, the feeling of eating at a friend’s home. Some standouts include a baked potato heaped high with shredded brisket, and pinto beans jolted with shreds of pulled pork. Sides and desserts are worth the stomach real estate. But first, consider a cornbread casserole that reaches max richness with sour cream and Hatch chiles, a side that deserves a spot in the local barbecue Pantheon." - Chris Malloy

Absolutely fantastic BBQ spot! The food was outstanding—perfectly smoked meats, flavorful sides, and everything cooked to perfection. Service was top-notch, truly 5/5 friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We especially loved the outdoor seating in the evening. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, with just the right vibe for a laid-back meal. Indoor seating is available too, but if the weather’s nice, definitely opt for outdoors. Highly recommend if you're looking for great BBQ, excellent service, and a welcoming environment!

Google
THE. BEST. BBQ. in all of Arizona…no debate, no discussion, just pure smoked glory. The second I walked in, the staff treated me like I was family…not the weird socially inept kind, but the kind of family you actually like seeing during holidays. Friendly, fast, and clearly used to people drooling over themselves before they even order. After inhaling my food like a starving raccoon (right before the meat sweats kicked in), I rolled myself out back like a curious tourist on a meat pilgrimage and behold! There stood Jimmy from Mississippi, Pitmaster Extraordinaire, doing what can only be described as meat yoga over giant offset stick burners. The man was tending to briskets, turkey breasts, and pork butts like they were his crown jewels. His enthusiasm? Contagious. His meats? Legendary. This was my first visit, but I’m already considering getting a sleeping bag and just moving in. P.S. Dont forget to wear a bib along with stretchy pants. The aftermath on my tray looked like a crime scene and I also think I may have lost circulation to my lower extremities for a brief moment. P.S.S. Do yourself a favor and follow the dang signs to enter the place…you know, the signs with the big arrows that show where to fall in line? Yeah, those signs. Don’t go through the inviting double glass doors on the back patio, those aren’t it. If it feels like you’re about to partake in illicit activities by going around the building/down a dark alley (there on the left), then you’re on the right path. Don’t be like me and half the state of Arizona, who tried entering through the wrong door like we owned the place…finding ourselves wandering around dazed and confused like BBQ zombies because our brains were too fazed thinking about delicious smoked meats. TL/DR: Go get yourself a mountain of masterfully smoked morsels of meat at Caldwell County BBQ. You’re welcome. 😎

After a first visit that didn’t go as well as we hoped, my wife and I came back for a second try. And honestly, it was like eating at a different restaurant - and I mean that in the best of ways! I ordered the sandwich with three meats and a side, my wife ordered the brisket sandwich, sans bread because of her celiac. Not only was the food absolutely tender and flavorful, all of the food preppers changed their gloves and wiped down their serving areas to avoid cross contamination. Talk about stellar service! And a huge shoutout to Mason and Jaden for really making us feel welcome. The sheer amount of business they do here can be overwhelming, but if you’ve had a poor experience here, or haven’t even ventured to try it before, I would strongly suggest it after our wonderful visit.

Just ate at Terry Black's in Dallas last week, and this place blew it away. The service was much better here. The facility was much nicer, and prices were more reasonable at CC. Critically, the original bbq sauce was actually good, compared to being way too sweet at TB. They even offer a salad for those looking for low-carb options. The brisket was very good but I liked the turkey just as much, and it's way leaner. So, if you want excellent Texas BBQ, there is no need to go to Texas.

Google
The service was really great! I was immediately impressed by how cheerful everyone was. They all seemed to sort of work together for me as the customer. I get that that is generally the goal for any food establishment, but it really is so rare for me to notice it. The food was great too! I liked their house sauce and the El General Patton had a real nice flavor to the different meats. The mac & cheese had good flavor, but seemed slightly chewy. Maybe it was just a little undercooked? Still, the place was really nice. I'll definitely be coming back with the family and recommending it!

Google
Being from Texas, this place is the real deal. I was excited to try this place after reading that the owner traveled through Central Texas to learn from the area pit master’s techniques. The brisket was exceptionally moist, the ribs had a great tenderness to them and was slightly disappointed in the jalapeno/cheese sausage only because I was expecting a bit more of a kick and cheese flavor (my preference). The pinto beans and corn casserole were on point as were their pickles. Overall, they deserve a 4.5-4.7 stars. I’ve been in the Phoenix area for the past 6 weeks as I’d wish I would’ve found this place sooner. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks and will make it a point to make the drive to Gilbert again!

Google
This was our first time, and we will definitely be coming back every time we are in Gilbert. The customer service is outstanding, and the food is to die for. I grew up in Texas and this is the best bbq I’ve had since living in AZ. Will definitely be telling everyone about this place and bringing my family. Great job. The brisket is so delicious too. Great atmosphere as well. Management is great too. And if you have gluten allergy get the banana pudding gf so good!!!!

Google
One of my favorite BBQ places in all of Arizona. Reminds me of the BBQ I was used to in Texas I got the brisket and ribs that were both excellent. I will say their meats are very tender and moist. Was pleasantly surprised that they had corn casserole as a side. Very reminiscent of the south and quite tasty. The guy manning the smokers was very friendly and explained their process for smoking their meats I found the guys who worked the line serving food very polite and friendly. Only complaint is parking. Small lot and many people park on the street.

Yelp
Cadwell County BBQ, helmed by pitmasters Chad and Steve, is a standout in the local BBQ scene. Their commitment to traditional smoking methods is evident in every bite, with meats boasting a deep, smoky flavor and a tender, juicy texture. The brisket, a crowd favorite, features a beautiful bark and a melt-in-your-mouth interior that's hard to beat. The sides at Cadwell County BBQ are more than just an afterthought. The coleslaw is fresh and tangy, providing a nice counterpoint to the rich meats. The mac and cheese is creamy and comforting. Overall, Cadwell County BBQ offers a well-rounded and satisfying BBQ experience that's worth checking out.

Yelp
It's actually hard to only give Caldwell's five stars because their customer service, friendliness, and food are beyond anything you could conceivably expect from a local BBQ joint. Walking in, you see where the magic happens. This is where we met pit master Steve and Brendan. They gave us a run down on how they run their giant smokers. These men genuinely love their jobs and it made the experience even more enjoyable. Caldwell's quickly became my number one pregnancy craving, so we have come often this summer and always look forward to returning. Even though it was 108 today, sitting on the patio was definitely tolerable with the fans and misters. The manager (I think his name is Ben) takes care of patrons like we're family and the staff greets us warmly like we belong there every single time. Mid day on Sunday was a great time to go for a slow pace and even available indoor seating. This is my family BBQ spot for the rest of time and this baby is going to come into the world probably wanting BBQ.

Yelp
I'll be honest--I'm usually not a huge BBQ fan, especially if it's not straight from the South. But Caldwell County BBQ? This place takes the trophy. Every time I visit, there's a line out the door--and it's easy to see why. During my most recent visit, I ordered the East Side Pig (a pulled pork sandwich) along with Julio's Mac n Cheese, which is rich, creamy, and packed with flavor from the blend of cheeses and roasted green chilies. I also got Aunt Susan's Corn Casserole, a comforting mix of cornbread, sour cream, and hatch green chilies that was absolute heaven. Every bite is full of bold, savory flavor that feels like comfort food straight from someone's Southern kitchen. Their house sauces are also worth a shout--they perfectly complement whatever you're eating without overpowering it. If anyone asks me where to get good BBQ in Arizona, I tell them: make the drive to Gilbert and try this place. You won't regret it.

Yelp
The smoked meats were 5 stars. The brisket was very well smoked and not super fatty yet moist. My wife had the Turkey and also said it was excellent. So good in fact she asked if they did a Thanksgiving Meal. She also enjoyed the Cole slaw. I had the brisket. Strongly recommended. The beans, I'd pass and get something else. It took quite a bit of added BBQ sauce to get a good flavor. The service is you walk up to the counter and order but everyone was very pleasant and helpful. The tab is $20-$25 a person unless you add dessert. If you do get the chocolate pecan sheet cake. Very good and in our case free as one of the employees came over to ask about our meal and asked if we'd like to try one of the desserts. The ambiance is picnic table casual but comfortable as well. I'd give it a five if I liked the beans better. On the more expensive side for lunch or casual dining but worth it because good meat isn't cheap.

Yelp
First of all, who doesn't like barbecue and I could definitely never ever in my life via vegetarian or vegan because of Caldwell's. Now that's out of the way let's continue. I enjoyed this place because it truly felt like a barbecue place. The outdoor seating was amazing. You could see everything right there being cooked. They chopped it up in front of you which was like dinner and a show. They gave out free samples as you're waiting in line to try the brisket and it just made my mouth water that much more. OK now let's get to the meat and bones. Literally, I had to beef ribs and there's not too many barbecue places that will do beef ribs so this has become near the top of the list of every place I go. It was cooked to perfection. Had a great bar and char on the outside that kept everything nice and juicy on the inside. Flavoring was right on point. You could not deny that it almost didn't even need barbecue sauce. I just did the barbecue sauce because it was there. So definitely get the beef ribs worth the trip worth the drive worth the money just outright worth it. And then I got some corn. I don't know what it was something corn in a casserole I guess but that was flavor town and stealing Guy Fieri's words so yes. I guess I've given this a pretty long enough review but I will definitely say this hunger Hawaiian will go back many many times just for the beef ribs and I might splurge and get the sausage which was delicious. The brisket was flavorful and if I'm doing barbecue sorry I don't do chicken so go to someone else's review for that

Yelp
Caldwell is by far one of the best bbq spots we have ever been too and we have been to Dallas, TX before. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the food is next level. We order the family of 4 combo and our boys devour the pulled pork. Be sure to order the Mac and cheese as it's probably the best I've ever had. My husband loves the corn casserole and our kids love getting a slice of bread and baked beans. The restaurant is decorated very western and is a great place for couples, families and singles. There are hand washing stations, 3 incredible sauces to choose from and lots of paper plates for sharing meals. We love how we all leave there feeling full and everyone has something they like. We look forward to trying the pecan pie and banana pudding next time we go but we stuffed our faces too much to try last time. This was our 3rd visit and our family already wants to make this a weekly spot. Go on a weeknight to avoid long lines. We don't have any food pics because we literally dove right in :)

Yelp
This place is worth every single penny. The Best BBQ I have ever ate in my life. Super good food, the sides were so delicious. The brisket was killer, turkey was so soft, pulled pork was insane. I would go here every day if I could. The customer service was amazing, everyone super friendly and kind and makes sure you are well taken care of. The place was extremely clean and well organized. I'm gonna rate it a 11/10. You have to go here.

Yelp
It's been a couple years since I've been back to Caldwell county bbq. I honestly don't remember much from the last time but this time I was blown away. The brisket is a great example of simple is best. Not too complicated and letting the beef and smoke shine the strong flavor of mesquite is one of my favorite types of smoke. The ribs were perfect. Being able to take a bite with no tear or feathering. Just leaving a cartoonish bite mark with minimal pressure required. This is what a rib is. Anything that is "fall off the bone" where it actually can't even be moved was probably overcooked. But here. Perfection. Oh I also got to see the pits and talk to Zack who was working the pits and we talked about barbecue joints he wants to go to and ones I thought were interesting. He had such a hunger for knowledge and a want to try out all the different barbecue joints Texas has to offer. Because as they say you can't make good barbecue without having eaten great barbecue. If I had more time in Phoenix this trip I'd love to come back but I'll definitely try to stop by the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
The food is excellent! We got some brisket and some sausages with jalapeño and cheese and oh my gosh, such good food. We love the corn casserole. The banana pudding is very good as well. I was really impressed with the coleslaw. It was light and refreshing what a wonderful place to eat highly recommend we ordered online and went to pick up so nice not to have to wait in the line but wow, they're busy for a reason
google avatar

Quinn B.

Yelp
The absolute best bbq around. The staff is super friendly. The brisket is amazing, all of the sides are delicious. Brisket samples for our pup and free water too.

Yelp
I love this place , went back again for my daughter's birthday dinner . She had her choices and that what she wanted . I had passed by this place forever and never gave it a second thought. Boy I was bummed when I finally decided to stop in after all these years going to " the other place" . They are super nice and will let you sample stuff before you choose . I love getting the turkey and the brisket . Last night they had the beef rib with chimmichurri sauce ., braised in tallow ... it was like butter pulling it off the bone . The staff is always nice , food is consistently good
google avatar

Yelp
Three of us came down here for my 68th birthday. We had the ribs iandthe brisket which were both excellent. RibMaster Steve did an excellent job on both the ribs and the brisket Moses came in and it took care of us since it was my birthday we didn't get the $15 discount on it but because I forgot to ask for it, he gave me a cookie and banana pudding, which was delicious. The corn cornbread casserole is awesome and the mac & cheese are right up there too. I love what the new place looks like with standing outside in line to sit next to the tables will be back. There's the remnants of what we ended up eating one rack of ribs gone a chunk of brisket gone, and all the sides gone

Yelp
yea this place is the spot! it's been a few days and I'm still thinking about the juicy meat and Mac and cheese! All the meats were so tender and melted in my mouth, also perfect amt of salt and smoke flavor. We came during a busy time but the line moved fast and I liked that they gave us samples of each meat to try. At first I was concerned to find seating but they have a lot of inside and outside seating and the ambiance is nice and better than I expected. The service was excellent and everyone was friendly and checked up on us during our meal. Wish I lived closer to this spot but maybe that's a good thing lol
google avatar

Drake R.

Yelp
Pretty good stuff, but seemed like a lot was under-salted. Sauce was pretty dang good but I can't do 5 stars, because I can make better ribs at home. Still not a disappointment, just not 5/5. Ambiance is really cool, but they should crank the music up a bit so you can at least hear it.
google avatar

Nicolle N.

Yelp
Very good BBQ. But they don't have bbq chicken. I get the Turkey. The sauces are great. It's pricey but quality bbq. I just hope they add chicken
google avatar

Scarlett M.

Yelp
So I'm not even a huge BBQ fan but wow this place has a doing the Lord's work. They gave me a little sample of brisket while I waited for my order. Staff were very friendly and offered suggestions of what to try. I got the el general sandwich to get a good variety of what they have to offer. So so good, I'd definitely just get the brisket next time as that was my favorite. The Mac and cheese is also super yummy. I love that there are three kinds of bbq sauce to choose from. My favorite was the az gold and house. Cute interior with more outdoor seating. Parking can be alittle squishy in the back so I just parked across the street.
google avatar

Roman K.

Yelp
This place went from non busy to a last eatery on earth within minutes during lunch. The management had to redirect the traffic to a one-way flow, order from one door and exit from the other. This kind of traffic can only mean one thing, absolutely great food! Even though it was pricey, it was totally worth it! Definitely try the Turkey, it's AMAZING! Service quick and friendly, lots of indoor and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Monique M.

Yelp
We drove an hour to try their food. And it was worth it. The staff were very nice. The pit masters welcomed us hello and also said bye as we left. It was clean inside and out. Lots of seating. Torrin went out of his way to make sure everything was great, sat and talked to us for a few minutes, made us feel like family. He's a great asset to this establishment, you can tell he truly loves his job. Great atmosphere great food. Definitely gives terry blacks a run for its money. Next time I'm in town I'll be back . The pulled pork is seasoned so well, you don't even need sauce in it. The brisket just falls apart, tries both lean and fatty, both amazing. The turkey is moist with great flavor.
google avatar

Lacy K.

Yelp
Caldwell County Barbecue is Texas style barbecue with meats smoked over mesquite and pecan. Choose from brisket, turkey, pulled pork, and sausage. Order by the pound or as sliders. Every order comes with pickles, jalapeños, onion, and white bread. Sides include potato salad, mac & cheese, slaw, beans, or green salad We ordered family style for 4 (it easily fed 3 adults and 2 kids with leftovers to spare). We had a metal tray covered in brisket, turkey, pulled pork, and jalapeno cheddar sausage shopping with Mac & cheese, corn pudding, and sliced white bread. We grabbed our tray, canned ciders, napkins, plastic ware, and BBQ sauce and headed outside for a picnic table on the patio

Yelp
Food:phenomenal Service:Excellent and quick Ambiance:appropriate Great experience including tour of smoker

Yelp
It's been about a year since my last visit, and I must say, it's a complete 180 from before! I feel I owed this place a new review! The gentleman cutting the meats wasn't squeezing out all the juices this time, which was a huge plus in my book! I got the El General Patton sandwich again, and for $20 it's still a heck of a lot of meat, on a very tasty bun! It also includes a side coleslaw, which tasted amazing. Not sure what's in it, but I loved the taste. I also bought a banana pudding, but I was so stuffed, I took it home instead. I like that people know ahead of time to just park on the street and walk over. My new fav bbq place around town!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing spot for barbecue in Arizona. The menu is perfectly condensed to offer the best barbecue combos. We ordered the pulled pork with lemon, poppyseed coleslaw, and corn casserole. You also have the option of complementary pickles, onions, and/or jalapeños. The restaurant offers plenty of seating inside and outside. Each patio table has an umbrella to shield the sun as well, which is super nice. Each table also comes equipped with their three barbecue sauces... Gold, house, and a spicy sweet house sauce. The staff are always extremely friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Highly recommend Caldwell's!!

Yelp
Caldwells was great! The service was fast and the food was delicious. Very generous portions. The staff checked on us multiple times. I'll definitely be back.

He said we have to come here Friday for dinner ! I'm not a big bbq fan, but everything here was Fire!!! And we were checked on by BEN , the general manager ... he is awesome , and even ISAAC came and talked to us . Family friendly , it's like chipotle set up --/ but bbq! Good fresh! We had a little of everything ! Had to try it all! Brisket , pulled pork, slaw, corn casserole , jalepeno cheese sausage, ... banana cream pie , omg ! Cookie ,.... Omg!!!! Leaving here FAT AND FULL! Yelp
This bbq place in the city where are kids live is amazing. The ambiance is super cute and accommodating for small groups to big crowds. While we were waiting for our kids, a nice young man- who worked there- was carrying a high chair inside and we told him we would take it from him. He then asked if we needed anything while we waited and also gave us recommendations! Everyone was so NICE! The order was a combo of a baked potato w/ bbq sour cream and brisket, a brisket sandwich, and three El General Patton's. We also literally ordered every side and a banana pudding for dessert. The corn pudding was the winner but everything else was fabulous too! Will definitely come back when visiting the kids again!!!

Yelp
LOVE the allergy menus at this restaurant. Honestly, they couldn't make it any easier for people with top allergies to figure out what they can/can't eat. Given my allergies, my options were brisket, pulled pork, beans, salad, and the Carolina vinegar sauce. Both meats were tender and flavorful. The beans were meaty, salty, and a little sweet. I could eat here everyday and not tire of it. Staff were friendly, gave us samples, and even checked on us to see what we thought of the food. I appreciated the large hand wash station by the drink fountain. It was cool to be able to sit at a picnic bench outside and watch the meats being prepared, but there's also plenty of indoor seating for chilly days. Highly recommend for family outings.

Yelp
Met a contractor for business lunch, we stepped inside and were immediately greeted and offered samples of their brisket and pulled pork, both meats had a nice smoke ring and were very juicy. I chose the "Dixie V" brisket sandwich with a side of coleslaw for lunch and my friend ordered the "General Patton" sandwich. The brisket was very tender and did not have a strong smoke flavor to it. I put their house BBQ sauce on the meat, and it paired well with the brisket. I was pleasantly surprised with the lemon poppy coleslaw, it was crunchy, seasoned well, and dressed perfectly not too wet not to dry, it was pretty good coleslaw which seems hard to find these days. I watched as the line to order food grew longer but the service remained quick and friendly. Next time I go back I want to take on the "General Patton" sandwich it looked fantastic and very hearty!

Yelp
Have been meaning to try Caldwell for a long time. We went with family a few days ago and it was amazing!! It is the best BBQ we have had in the valley. My son ordered the pulled pork and he said it was amazing. Even my 21 month old grandson loved it. Hubby and I split a rack of ribs and devoured them all. All the sauces were top notch, need to go back and buy some to use at home. Between us all, I think we tried every side and they were all 5 star. The line was long but it went fairly quickly. Glad we found a table inside as we had 2 babies with us. We will be back!!
google avatar

Rob L.

Yelp
Well, dang. Awesome BBQ/SmokeHouse in Mesa. Too much food LOL. We came in for lunch, the smell of Smoked meats engulfing the parking lot. Big barrels slow smokers, looks like you're in Texas, near Driftwood. 5 stars fer sure fer BBQ!!
google avatar

Trish V.

Yelp
I went in there to get food to go. It's my son's favorite bbq. I was blown away how busy they are. The line moves fast. The customer service is off the charts. I was overwhelmed by the amount of people and the noise level. Lanae helped me checkout. She made sure I had everything I needed for a great meal. She was so calm, helpful and friendly. I spoke with another associate about the growth since the last time I was there about six years ago. She was super friendly and informative. They were so pleasant! So rare these days! Got home with everything and the food was cooked perfectly and so tasty. They have a goldmine. That place is beyond delicious. Great employees... I just love that place!

Yelp
This has to be one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at and I'm not super big on BBQ! Food was delicious, the place was very clean, and staff were so kind and helpful!! Andrew literally went above and beyond for us today, if I had a business I would want a dozen of him!! Trent was super cool answering all my husband's questions about the process of BBQing here! We live in hour away and I think I would make the drive for the food and customer service over and over again!! The banana pudding was some of the best I've ever had. I had a pretty big piece of fat, which isn't my thing, but everything was so yummy!!! And best part as a woman and mom the bathroom was so clean Congratulations Caldwell, you guys have outdone yourself, hope to get a location in North Peoria!!!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
This is hands down some of the best bbq you will ever taste. It's worth the trek across the valley. Tucked away off of Warner and Power- you'll want to aim for non peak times because parking is limited. Primary seating is outdoors on picnic tables. Go for the sliders- the amount of meat you get is unreal, then snag the coleslaw, pickles, potato salad and corn casserole you won't be disappointed. There will most definitely be a line but they move quickly and the service is great!
google avatar

Allison M.

Yelp
Did a little search of the area after a long hike and this place popped up. It had good reviews and they were not wrong. When we arrived, there was quite a line. Apparently the front door is basically useless because the line wraps around back. I will say the workers were incredibly fast and even though the line looked daunting, it was only about 15 to 20 minutes of a wait. I got a barbecue sandwich and a side. The barbecue was incredible. Tender pulled pork and amazing sauce options. The potato salad was good in a neutral kind of way. Nothing unique about it, but the benefit of that is that it is a certain crowd pleaser. Everything tasted really good quality. I like that they don't use frozen meat and seem a little more local oriented. There were a few vegetarian/vegan options, which I always appreciate, especially at a barbecue place. They also were creative in terms of how you ordered - you could get a plate or combine a few things. They also had some homemade desserts that looked delicious. They have a very nice story about how they came about and the passion behind the business. I appreciate the combination of Arizona and Texas and how intentional they were. Even the beers were from either Texas or Arizona and it felt nice to support local. Of course they had some basic ones as well but the diverse options they offered that were fit what we were looking for. The price is not cheap, but the food is certainly worth every penny. The outdoor seating is an absolute delight. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, and the place was super clean. They could probably use a few more bathrooms, but nobody was really left waiting too long. They run a tight ship but do a great job making you feel welcome and not rushed

Yelp
Came by at 11am on a Thursday and it was very busy. Line wasn't too bad as people were quickly given their orders. Heard a lot of positive things about this place and now I can agree! Ordered the family meal for 4. Meats were nicely smoked and tender. Fell in love with their house bbq sauce (bought a couple bottles to bring home!) Overall, great crew, good bbq, and quick service! FYI, parking can be limited so plan accordingly!

Yelp
Delicious as always. While my absolute favorite is the brisket, the pulled pork and the sausages are equally good. The sides!! This corn casserole and the Mac N'cheese are 11/10. My favorite BBQ for years now and they are consistent with quality, taste- and service. My to go to place.

Yelp
We have been occasionally eating at Caldwells since it opened. The turkey and brisket never disappointed. But we visited for lunch and noticed a big decline in the quality of meat. The turkey had an injection type taste when you buy sub quality, almost like mystery meat. The brisket as well, not sure what happened? Feeding the masses equals cutting corners? Hope you don't follow this trend, I would give you two thumbs down on quality. Also noticed many men like to enjoy lunch inside at Caldwells. Maybe add some ceiling fans because the smell of sweaty, blue collar working men...was a bit overwhelming.

Yelp
Tried for first time and I loved it. Indoor and outdoor breezy set up, good ambiance, fast service. We got the Pavo turkey with mac n cheese and Prime Brisket with corn bread. Not a big fan of corn bread but this was good one. Will be back for my son's graduation celebration!

Yelp
Would give 6 stars if I could, food is always tremendous when we go for a cheat meal. The service was outstanding, as the manager checked on us multiple times to see if we needed anything. Best BBQ in AZ by far! (The banana pudding is outstanding and a must)

Yelp
This is one of the best BBQ places I have dined at so far. Service was quick and efficient, staff were very friendly, and the area was very inviting. I was told that this place can get quite busy but I didn't wait too long around lunch time on a Saturday. I really enjoyed the brisket sample I received. My husband ordered half a rack of ribs and I ordered a sandwich. For sides we got their lemon poppyseed coleslaw, Mac and cheese, and corn casserole. Everything was very tasty! You can taste the rub and nothing seem overly seasoned or heavy handed with sauces. I have no complaints. Parking is available but can be a bit difficult to maneuver around as there is only one way in/out. There are outside and inside seating areas. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area! It's on the right side of American Warehouse Furniture.

Yelp
Seen them on Instagram and finally got to try them today! Very limited parking but when we came it was barely packed at 12 (an hour after they opened) but lot got full quick shortly after we arrived. Super friendly and welcoming at the Gilbert location, yet have to try the Queen Creek location which is bigger with fun events onsite, where this location is small but simply well worth the visit! I loved the whole outdoor layout vibe, very cute and well kept, they even have misters! There is indoor dining area as well. We got their "Family Meal of 4" with choice of turkey, brisket and pulled pork and sides of macaroni and cheese and corn casserole. We all devoured it! We ordered 2 BBQ Salads to go home with to eat later for dinner, it was delicious!

Yelp
Best BBQ in AZ. The pork ribs melt in your mouth. I could drink the Carolina vinegar sauce. The brisket is so tender and juicy. Small little mom and pop. I would recommend it to everyone. Wait wasn't long at all. I will be back.

Yelp
Been here a few times and still good BBQ. The outside seating area is very nice with blocking roll road traffic from Gilbert Road. Quick derive and the meals were awesome

Yelp
Great BBQ, wait in a long line to order and hope for a table. When the weather is good there is outside seating. When you're done looking at furniture across the street swing by.

Yelp
Great BBQ & Even Better Service We recently visited our son in Phoenix and made the drive out to Gilbert for a family dinner at Caldwell County BBQ. What a great decision! This place has a fun, laid-back vibe that's perfect for relaxing and spending quality time with family. The line was long but moved quickly, and we were even offered samples while we waited--a great touch. We ordered a little of everything: fatty brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and cornbread casserole. As a bit of a BBQ enthusiast, I was especially impressed with the beef ribs--absolutely top-notch. Everything was very good, with one exception: the pulled pork just didn't hit the mark for us. That said, the real standout of the evening was the service. Every single staff member we interacted with was exceptionally friendly and helpful, which really elevated the whole experience. Overall, this is a fantastic spot that we'd absolutely visit again.

Yelp
My first time here today. I love the atmosphere, both inside and outside. The brisket was so moist and juicy, literally mouth watering. I also really liked the corn casserole, very yummy! It's my new favorite BBQ place.

Yelp
Worth the 45 minute drive from Phoenix! We were in Phoenix/Scottsdale vacationing for a week. Today my wife told me no breakfast till 1100 hours. She told me to drive and I did straight hostage style! Luckily for me around 1056 hours, we pulled up to Caldwell County BBQ. What a beautiful surprise! Doors were just about to open and I could smell the amazing BBQ smoke in the air. The grounds of the Caldwell County BBQ house are very beautiful with plenty of seating. Staff was extremely kind allowing us first timers to even sample their amazing brisket. We ordered up half pound brisket, half pound turkey, half pound of pulled pork, two jalapeño cheddar sausages, and one amazing banana pudding. Its been said many times before me here, however from a guy who has had many many BBQs including Rodney Scott's BBQ in Charleston, South Carolina, Pit Room BBQ, in Houston,Texas, and now Caldwell County BBQ. Caldwell County BBQ is some of the best tasting BBQ you will find in America!!! After packing up my to go box I was admiring the smokers out back. A young pit master wearing a Melin hat asked my wife if we wanted to see a smoker full of briskets? Yes Absolutely! We got a quick glance at the cook craft real time. Thanks guys, we will be back!

Yelp
After looking into Yelp, I had to check this place out when I was visiting! Be ready to wait in a long line if you show up during prime meal hours. Line wrapped around the inside of the building and went outside all the way to the parking lot! That's how you know it's gonna be good. Luckily, we beat the crowd. Indoor and outdoor seating. Casual atmosphere. Place your order at the register and they bring it out to you when it's ready. Fast and friendly service. We split the family of four pack and got a couple extra sides. Everything was amazing! Meat was extremely tender and delicious. Three kinds of bbq sauce at each table to drown your food in. Plenty of food for four, so they don't rip you off on quantity. Must try!
