"Calle Sol is as dependable as a 1998 Toyota Camry—it’s the restaurant we turn to whenever we want a guaranteed excellent lunch or dinner. Start things off with any ceviche, then go for the vaca frita that’s fried on a griddle with garlic, onions, and lime juice (the braised beef paired with the crisp created by the griddle is a texture and flavor combo we can’t get out of our brains). For lunch, go with a Tampa- or Miami-style Cuban sandwich with a side of fried sweet plantains. And even though you might have other responsibilities, you should still pair it with an off-menu spicy margarita that uses muddled rocoto chili peppers. This spot sits on a corner in one of Charlotte’s most walkable neighborhoods, which means it’s always buzzing, and you should definitely make a reservation." - tess allen

"The menu at Calle Sol bounces all over Florida’s Cuban influences (even Chinese-Cuban dishes) with a sharp turn into Peru’s ceviches. There’s only one version at lunch (but it’s a generous one, with lots of sweet potato, planks of fried plantain, and crunchy cancha). Dinner brings four kinds, including one with the fruity Peruvian pepper aji amarillo. For those wanting mixto — shrimp and fish together — add $6. And more is on the way: Calle Sol just announced plans to open a second location in SouthPark in 2023." - Kathleen Purvis

I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this place! First visit and the food was top notch while the service was outstanding. Kim immediately gave us recommendations for a good combination of plates to share and we loved every single bite. The Cuban fried rice was my absolute favorite with plenty to share and eat the next day. We had a cocktail from the May features and I’m just sad it won’t be there next month. The Cuatro Smash needs a permanent spot on the menu.

Great food! Everything was tasty. We found street parking easily but it was on a week night. I would go again to try the rest of the menu.

First time here definitely not the last. The food here is excellent 👌. We were looking for some Latin/Cuban style food. We have passed this place a thousand times. Finally went in . Absolutely no disappointment here. The portions are good size the prices are good especially for what you get. The service was great the server Kim and her trainee Carlos were attentive and polite. The manager Kaylee stopped by a couple times and checked on us also. I watched Kaylee and she was working the entire dinning room area. Just doing things a good manager should do in the restaurant business. We will see you guys soon again.

¡Delicioso! ¡Estoy impresionada! I will definitely be coming back again. I'd love everything about this restaurant. Eric S was a wonderful server. We ordered the classic ceviche and cuban fried rice. Both were amazing. I eat out a lot domestically and internationally. I was delighted to enjoy flavor combinations I hadn't had before. My inner foodie was very pleased with this meal! Calle Sol has something special.

I had the pork hash brunch special today and it was outstanding. The manager came around, so I told her as much. My server was awesome and he was the one who recommended it to me. Everyone was in a good mood and it was cheerful. I love this place. It’s so colorful and I can’t wait to come back. I’ve been before and the drinks are great.

Had a good experience here. Good food and service! The flavors were unique and the atmosphere was really cozy and homey! The only comment I have is that I wish they were more clear about substitution and add-ons. We ask for a chicken and shrimp combo and got a $7 charge without knowing until the end.

I had the lechon asado with rice and beans. It was delicious!!! It reminded me of my mother's cooking and it made me feel like I was home. Service was great. The manager stepped in and checked on us because our server had just gotten sat with a ten top. She even upsold us on the flan, which was delicious as well.

First time here today after reading rave reviews online! First and foremost, the atmosphere was excellent. Expect vibrant colors, appropriately suited music, and wonderful smells as you walk in. From there, our server, Kevin, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations since it was our first time here. We ordered the ceviche to start, plus the Tampa cubano and the fried rice, and honestly, we loved all of it. The flavors were an explosion in your mouth, and we’re craving more visits to come! It’s well worth the visit. One thing to note, parking can be a little tricky in the area, so arrive a few minutes early to allow time for finding a spot and try to carpool!
