This is it, y'all. The perfect bistro. I can't say enough good things about this place, and I dare say I don't have a single bad thing to say, either.
I told my husband this place feels like the end of a feel-good movie where the beloved underdog that always dreamed of opening a restaurant, and finally does it to rave reviews.
Despite its buzz, what I love about Cannonball is it has the excellence without the snobbery.
It's clear everyone here's an industry veteran and is the best at what they do. This was easily some of the best service we've ever had in the LA area, and Cameron, even though he had probably 10 (!) tables, was kind, thoughtful, and always around even though he was probably doing a million things at once. I never once had less than half my water glass empty (as a big water drinker too, oops).
The wine + spirits list is impressive along with the perfectly paired cocktails.
As a snobbish southerner, these may be the best biscuits I've EVER had. It's more like filo dough!
Despite ordering multiple dishes, they all came out freshly cooked at perfect times - it's obvious they have this down to a science, and the burger + fries are even worth a try. The steak was my favorite, though!
Also, the playlist was GOOD too. We heard some Oasis deep cuts, Cold War Kids, Jungle, and a few others. Host told us the playlist was compliments of the chef, which makes perfect sense in the best way. Taste begets taste.
This may have been one of my favorite meals in LA, ever. Run, don't walk, friends. Cannonball team, please give yourselves a pat on the back, because all of your hard work hasn't gone unnoticed. THANK YOU for bringing such a great restaurant to south pas!
