Tokaji Aszú in Cocktails – The Next Big Thing?

"Situated within the Peninsula London hotel, Canton Blue (and its Little Blue bar) offers a bright, lower-alcohol Tokaji Whisper that balances the Aszú’s elegant sweetness and floral aromas with pear liqueur and verjus for freshness; I found it a perfect pre-meal palate cleanser and a great match for Cantonese plates such as the black truffle crispy tofu, where the cocktail’s sweet and floral notes stand up to the earthy umami of the truffle." - Lane Nieset

"Housed inside the spectacular Peninsula Hotel, this Cantonese restaurant is part of a brand housed inside their hotels around the world. The London version boasts its own entrance at the side of the hotel and a sumptuous cocktail bar, Little Blue, which is the perfect way to kick off a rather glamorous evening. The restaurant itself is equally stylish, and the extensive menu offers a wide selection of authentic, flavoursome dishes, from finely executed dim sum to Peking duck for two. The interesting wine list includes a selection of Chinese rice wines by the glass." - Michelin Inspector

We had a lovely dinner at Canton Blue. The food was really well made with lots of attention to detail, especially the dim sum combo, my favourite was the lobster one, very impressive. The soup was rich and full of flavour, you can tell they use good ingredients and no MSG. The drunken chicken was also excellent. For mains, I really liked the lotus leaf fish — very creative and you can really taste the nice aroma from the leaf. We also tried the sparkling tea, which was something different and definitely worth a try. Service was great too. everyone enjoyed the night. A very pleasant experience overall.

The caramelised walnuts were so good I couldn’t stop eating them! The dim sum platter was excellent ! Fresh and well made with lobster dumpling, har gao, xiao long bao, chicken siu mai, and crab meat dumpling. The soup was a highlight ! Tender conch, rich flavour, slow-cooked for six hours with no MSG. The cha siu was probably the best in London and the XO sauce was outstanding. For mains, the lobster noodle, crispy lotus root, and lotus leaf sea bass were all amazing, especially the lovely fragrance from the lotus leaf. We finished with a light creamy mango pudding and Saicho Darjeeling sparkling tea. Highly recommend and will definitely come back again!

Exquisite Cantonese delicacy. Exceptional service and amazing ambience. Our glasses were never left empty and we had a great night with my friends celebrating their birthdays. We were a fan of their lobster noodle, lotus root, lotus sea bass, dim sum and mango pudding. The lotus was crispy and for the sea bass you could really taste the lotus leaf from it. For the dim-sum, they were delicate and tasty - clearly a lot of thought and effort have gone into the dishes in delivering the best to the guests. One of my favourites was the mango dessert where it was creamy and milky and left me wanting for more. I would definitely be back.

Very nice restaurant, it's very luxurious and the service is excellent. The crab and cuttlefish dumplings, scallops asparagus dumplings and the Peking duck is delicious but unfortunately the let down is the pancakes. The pancake texture is too thick and gets cold very easily which becomes abit hard. Authentic pancakes that are served with the Peking duck are supposed to be very thin, these ones seems like they were from the local Chinese supermarket and not freshly made by the chef. Unfortunately I personally wouldn't be going back

Had a truly memorable experience. The steamed lobster dumpling, Peking duck, lotus leaf seabass, and mango pudding were all exceptional, with well balanced flavours and generous portions. Service was warm and attentive, with staff ensuring our glasses were never empty. The interior was simply stunning — elegant, refined, and perfectly in keeping with the hotel’s luxury setting. Impeccably clean and beautifully presented, this is a restaurant I’d be delighted to return to.

Canton Blue transforms Cantonese dim sum into a high-end, Michelin-star experience, but its steep price likely explains why we were the only ones in the entire restaurant. The exclusivity created an intimate, almost private-dining vibe, enhanced by the stunning decor—ornate, elegant, and perfect for photos. Every corner feels like a visual masterpiece. Service was outstanding. Veronica, an Italian server who presented the menu in Cantonese, and Sinja were warm, attentive, and professional, making the meal feel truly special in the empty dining room. Their personalized care was a highlight. The food, while beautifully presented, comes in small, Michelin-style portions—think delicate dumplings and vibrant, artistic dishes. Flavors are decent but don’t always match the visual flair, and ultimately, it’s still Cantonese dim sum, just at a premium cost. The high price point clearly limits its crowd. Canton Blue is a splurge for special occasions, not your typical dim sum spot. The empty restaurant, likely due to the cost, made it unique but highlights its niche appeal.

Authentic Cantonese food, cooked to a high standard. The price is a tad too high for not having specialty ingredients. The Peking duck wasn’t the best I have had in London. There are quite some chewy bits. Great ambient, it resembles the moods of a high end Cantonese restaurant you will find in Hong Kong.

Canton Blue in the Peninsula offering innovative Cantonese cuisine. Canton Blue is part of a brand housed inside Peninsula hotels around the world. The Peking Duck was very good but the fried rice and the noodles were a let down. Honestly, a hotel such as the Peninsula deserves a better restaurant.
