The 6 Best Dim Sum Restaurants In Miami

"Canton Palace is a Chinese restaurant serving really good dim sum in Westchester. They've got a pretty minimal dining room with some big round tables perfect for all eight of your very hungry cousins. The vast dim sum selection includes classics like dumplings, pork buns, and rice noodle rolls. This is another all-day option, so if you wake up late, don't cry. It's available till they close—and they do takeout too." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

The 6 Best Dumplings In Miami

"A couple of miles north of Kon Chau, you’ll find Canton Palace. There are a whole bunch of tasty Chinese dishes on the menu here, but if you’re on a hunt for dumplings (which sounds like a movie we’d watch) then go straight for the dim sum platter. It comes with shrimp shumai, crispy fried shrimp balls, steamed shrimp dumplings, thick pan-fried pork dumplings, and a couple egg rolls. It feeds two, even though we finished one ourselves and had to lay on the floor in silence for 30 minutes afterward. It was worth it." - ryan pfeffer

Canton Palace Review - Westchester - Miami - The Infatuation

"Canton Palace is a Westchester restaurant that serves a whole bunch of tasty Chinese dishes, like salt and pepper squid, Szechuan shrimp, and some great dumplings. We thoroughly enjoy their dim sum platter, which is served all day. It comes with shrimp shumai, crispy fried shrimp balls, steamed shrimp dumplings, thick fried pork dumplings, and a couple of egg rolls. It feeds two, even though we finished one ourselves and had to lay on the floor in silence for 30 minutes afterward. It was worth it." - Ryan Pfeffer

Westchester’s wallet-friendly dim sum destination with a deep Cantonese menu and lunch bargains. Highlighted by local critics and community guides; a straightforward room where the focus stays on dumplings, noodles, and congee.

Google
With "Canton" in their name, I was expecting authentic Hong Kong style cooking, but my experience was very disappointing. Both the Sauteed Scallops and the Shrimp Ball with Bean Curd tasted the same--really bland. In fact, the bean curd was overcooked and broken, while shrimp balls were sour (old, expired). Salt and Pepper Squid had very little seasoning, leathery tough, and mostly batter. They also don't itemize receipts, which makes it hard for business expenses. Not returning here again.

The first time I came to this restaurant was years ago and I absolutely loved it. I forgot the dishes I tried but I remember everything was good. So when I was craving Chinese food today, I decided to come here and the food was just as delicious as I remembered it. To eat, we ordered the krab rangoon, spring rolls, pan fried dumplings and chicken lo mein with white rice. And everything was delicious. The krab rangoon was crunchy and you could definitely taste the crab meat in it. The shrimp in the spring rolls was a nice surprise. The pan fried dumplings were tasty as well. As to the lo mein, it was cooked to perfection. The service was okay. We did have to ask for water refills and to go containers but they packed our leftovers, which was nice of them to do. The server also gave us suggestions as to the portion size of the entree when we were ordering, which we appreciated. As to the ambiance, it could be better. The table next to us was dirty and it took them a while to clean it and the chairs may need updating. Overall, the place is clean. I would definitely return to this restaurant again whenever I’m craving Chinese food again.

Google
Mom and pop type of place, great prices and outstanding food. Been looking for a solid dim sum spot in west miami and after a lot of looking, definitely found my go to spot from now on. Everything was fresh, clean and delicious! Service was spot on too! If you are looking for solid, authentic dim sum and are not looking to break the bank, this is it!

Google
The traditional dish review on 明火烧鸭: The duck is cooked just right although the meat is a slightly tougher than expected, the sauce isn't HK style and is salt based rather than sour based. The traditional dish review on Dim Sum platter: no choice of dim sum selection, but provided set is comfortable to eat with hot tea. The traditional dish review on 干炒牛和: no further comments. All is as expected.

Came here yesterday because my previous experience was phenomenal. I used to come here all the time with my parents growing up in Miami. Yesterday was a disappointing experience to say the least. The dumplings were doughy, the shrimp filling tasted rotten and the pan fried turnip cakes were sticky. The quality to their food has taken a nose dive. I wish I did not have to write this kind of review but the lack of customers in this restaurant on a Sunday speaks volumes. Compare this to Tropical Chinese and Kon Chau on bird road I would choose those places before coming here. I also did not like how the waitress flipped my credit card to where everyone waiting at the counter could see my credit card number and details on the tray before she handed it back. Especially since the card is one sided. Very unprofessional.

Google
Good honest cantonese cuisine. Nothing fancy but good home cooked style food. They have dim sum and specials on the lighted board. Been going there for many years. Fried tofu, steamed pork spear ribs with taro, Chinese broccoli and beef, eggplant filled with fish paste (sounds not so yummy but is good) are a few dishes. Also pre order special chicken which always sells out ( farm organic taste different from your standard chicken) not on the regular menu..!!!

Google
I ordered 1 quart of Special fried rice and two orders of Spring rolls, the rice was tasteless so I called and a woman answered the phone and I was only trying to help her business and told her how tasteless the rice was. I told her I was not going to return it but she needs to try the food they are selling. This woman got mad at me and hung up the phone. Well good luck and I hope they do something about it because soon they will not have any more Canton Palace.

Yelp
We came to try this with my baby and a friend and since we walked in it had a very questionable smell.. the service was horrible and wouldn't even give us one of the 3 free high chairs. Go try Tropical chinese their dimsun are the best

Yelp
The food was PHENOMENAL... however, due to the service I'm giving this a 2 star review. The service was downright terrible, we were waiting forever for any drinks to be brought to our table. In addition when being asked kindly if we can split bills we were given some rather sharp looks and not the good kind of sharp. In the end there were a couple of items some people didn't receive at the table and were still rung up for it even after arguing. Rather than causing a scene about it we merely just paid and left beyond unsatisfied. This is my fair warning if you are coming in a group do NOT come here, they don't care if they mess up your order and ring you up incorrectly. When we went to complain they swore we were lying and that all the food was brought to the table. Will I be back? Unfortunately no. Edit: our group ended up paying an extra $20 for things that we didn't get!!! Money doesn't grow on trees for some of us!

Yelp
Overpriced and below average quality Chinese food, and I am Cantonese!! People are friendly, and the service was quick.

Yelp
Never picks up the phone and lets the phone ring until you reach voicemail. I believe this place closed down. Do not waste your time here.

Yelp
My goodness. Folks I was blessed... right after church too lol. Sheeeeesh!!! Stopped in because you know I'm Asian and I'm hungry. I knew there was a Cantonese spot close to Brave Church in Miami but man I didn't expect this insanity of amazingness. Me and my homie Joe who is a black belt in Kung Fu we threw down starting off with shrimp dumplings, moving to pork siu mai. We also got large pork dumplings and shrimp/chive ones as well. Mixed soup action and some shrimp chow mein that changed the game! Young Chow Fried rice & roast pork for the finish. Ooooooof... we went in folks and then I drive my overstuffed self home to Broward County so I could lay on my sofa vegged out watching the Dolphins lose to the 49ers... It's ok my wife checked on me from time to time lol CHEERS!

Yelp
Best Chinese food in Miami. This quaint hidden restaurant doesn't look like it has such good food was looks can be deceptive. Price is not high and worth the food

Yelp
I love seeing that this restaurant is still going strong. It definitely is still one of the best places in South Florida to go to for Dim Sum. They have all the classics and they execute it well. While the ambiance is starting to feel dated, and service could probably be better, but you are here for the food. The food still tastes good, and they still have a pretty extensive dim sum menu for you to select from. The crispy taro shrimp cakes are still the highlight item for me. Wonderfully crispy on the outside and deliciously flavorful and moist on the inside, it really is the ideal dim sum item. So keep supporting local restaurants! I hope to drop by here again in the future :)

Yelp
I came in once they open at 11 on a Tuesday. This is the experience I had with Peter - Very poor customer services the man "Peter" at the front taking orders wants to argue on what I had ask for and order. He seems to think I'm wrong when I kindly ask him that wasn't my orders and maintained my composure and politely again asked him that's not what I asked for. He then started yelling at me in front of another customers. He then continued yelling attacking his work colleague.

Yelp
I have been looking for a solid Cantonese food spot in Miami ever since moving here. Everything I've found is some sort of fusion. But Canton Palace had the menu of my dreams with all of the classics I had missed. The hot and sour soup was bursting with flavour and had all of the expected tidbits inside. 10/10 The salt and pepper shrimp unfortunately was soggy from the time travelled for the delivery, but I am sure they would have been 10/10 if I got them fresh. I still loved them! The sweet & sour pork combo for me wasn't what I expected. I had thought this would be traditional battered pork with sweet and sour sauce and onions and pineapples. I think the description should say they are fried balls - like the popular chicken balls with sauce in the side. Although when I tried it, it was very good, just a surprise they way they cook them. The fried rice was great with bits of BBQ pork and chicken throughout. Huuuuge portion too! 8/10 I also got the wonton soup, which in the photo had some noodles in the bottom and I expected a different type of thinner shrimp wonton instead of the chicken one I received. Didn't love this one and wouldn't reorder. 5/10 The har gow was perfectly cooked with a delicate outer chewy layer and lots of filling. 10/10 I also ordered the lychees for dessert, which were just peeled lychees in water, and exactly what I wanted. 10/10 They also gave me some freebies like a egg drop soup, spring roll (very crunchy and good), fortune cookies, and some crunchy snacks. Such a nice surprise - reminds me of the old days where you got extra for phoning in an order at Chinese takeout spots. Safe to say, this is my favorite canto spot in Miami, and I will be ordering again soon!

Yelp
Have been coming to this restaurant for a very long time, and it's hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant to buy from or go and eat at. I always over eat but it's so worth it! Great staff and service, they always make us feel welcomed.
google avatar

Yelp
Where do I start? I see all these reviews about how good the food is and I know these had to be paid actors. I ordered a tiny quart of house fried rice and orange chicken and it was 32 bucks. I pay less for double the rice literally 5 miles up the road. The ORANGE CHICKEN.. was soggy as hell, every piece was just stuck to each other. All breading barely any chicken. On top of all that.. I literally let them know I'm in a hotel and they didn't send any disposable cutlery or anything. Will never ever order from such a cheap place again

Yelp
I love me some dim sum and this place is definitely a great spot for that! They have all the classics to choose from! Great prices and the service is always welcoming. The ambiance is true to a legit dim sum spot! I am a fan

Yelp
Awesome Chinese Restaurant ! The location is in a strip mall right on Tamiami Trail . The decor is very traditional and has the Lazy Susan tables so you can easily order different plates and share . I started with the Eggrolls and then the Dragon & Phoenix platter which is awesome. The Special Friend rice was on point and taste very FRESH ! Come check it out

Yelp
Delicious! Such amazing authentic food. Spent the night with my husband and we ordered vegetable lo mein, steamed pork buns, steamed shrimp, shrimp dumplings, salt and pepper pork I think it's called, and we are so full! Loved there tea because it soothes your belly if you feel to full. This is a go to spot of ours! It may not be the prettiest looking but I can make an exception here because sometimes it not about looks, but the service and outstanding food! Everyone is so friendly and nice. Highly recommend you try their dim sum. Yummy in my tummy.

Yelp
Great little place awesome good. Family friendly. Parking is a challenge for there is a large restaurant that causes havoc on the parking lot.
google avatar

Supawat J.

Yelp
This place becomes one of our favorite place for Dim Sum. Very reasonable price , quantity and quality are preferable. I recommend Bean curd skins rolls. The Shrimp pork dumpling is tasty and tender. Taro shrimp is another one you have to try . Steamed Pork Ribs are big and delicious as well.!

Helga P.

Yelp
I love the food. The cook the best Shrimp mince tofu. Either to eat there or take out.

Yelp
I wasn't feeling too well so decided to order from Canton Palace through one of the popular apps for pickup. Upon arriving, the staff found out that one of the orders was wrong and told me to wait. A few minutes, she asked me if I wanted to substitute for something else when I thought that the missing item was already being cooked. I told her the food that were cooked already will be cold by now. She offered to heat them up but I said no, worried that they may overcook or spit in the food. Then she said they will prepare a new batch of my order, which means an even longer wait. The point of ordering to pick up was to be able to pick up as soon as the food was ready. I get that mistakes can happen here and there, but the restaurant has been around for decades that I think they should have been more thorough by now. I feel that they should've double checked and caught their mistake right away instead making customers wait even longer. I used to love this restaurant and would come frequently when I was younger. The service has changed so much. I'm extremely disappointed.

Yelp
I ordered the salt & pepper squid, chicken feet, Young chow fried rice, and sweet & sour pork online. A lady called to make sure that I wanted the sweet & sour pork and not the sweet & sour pork chop. Thank goodness she called because I wanted the sweet & sour pork CHOP which has the sauce on it, not the sweet & sour pork, which doesn't. My husband had ordered the salt & pepper squid and the sweet & sour pork chop a couple weeks ago and I have been craving more ever since!! The food was delicious and definitely satisfied the craving!! I was so happy the lady called to check my order otherwise I would have been disappointed. They are only offering takeout right now because the restaurant is very small. Please support small business and order from them. The food is delicious! Order from the authentic menu and the dim sum menu! Get the sweet & sour pork CHOP! You won't be disappointed!!

Yelp
Authentic and very good tasting chinesse food, I have been coming here for more than 20 years and have try almost all in the menu.

Yelp
Stopped by to place an order for some dim sum for lunch one day. Already parking I could see a fotmed line outside. At that time the restaurant was only available for pick up, no dining in. No problem was in a rush anyway. Placed mynorder and waited about 15 mins. When I finally sat down to indulge on my mini feast, the food was still hot and all the good smells reached to my nose and the first bite of my shrimp and pork shumai melted in my mouth. The flavors were all here. Bite out of my eggroll let out a huge crunch and a mouthful of veggies and pork. Didnt stop there, the chi ken feet (yes, I said chicken feet) were tender and were cooked in a perfectly In a black bean sauce. Finished it all off with the steamed ribs in the same sauce. Lunch was a success and my fat ass loved every bite. They get it here right with their dim sum and I am all for it

Giovanna D.

Yelp
Top on our list for Chinese restaurant in Miami, very authentic, family friendly, well priced, staff is very nice. Over all a very goodplace to eat authentic Chinese food. Dim Sum it's also very good. You got to give it a try. Look wise is not fancy, but don't let that deceive you. VERY VERY GOOD. G.D
google avatar

Yelp
Shame...some dishes scored high while others did not! The stuffed green peppers, stuffed bean curd skin, fried turnip cake, stuffed eggplant, shrimp and chive dumpling, fried pork dumpling, fried mixed dumpling, Singapore rice noodles, and beef chow fun were very good. The sticky rice had chicken but I'm used to pork, the har gow and shu mai were overcooked and the skins fell apart, sesame balls (too doughy), egg custard buns, roast pork buns, egg custards, and soup dumplings total misses IMO.

carlos g.

Yelp
The food was great. Unfortunately the people who answer the phone are very rude. When you call it rings and rings and rings. Then when they do answer they talk with other people that show up to pick up their food and you have to repeat your order again. I live about a mile away, I was on hold for more than 10 minutes. I drove there and was still on hold waiting for someone to come back to the call. The next visit had to wait 45 minutes to pick up my order and when I got there it wasn't ready, had to sit and wait another 30 minutes. Not once has my order been in time.

Yelp
My Chinese girlfriend introduced me to this little neighborhood gem many years back with the BEST Dim Sum ever. It is freshly made and arrives hot to your table. The staff is always friendly. All the food is excellent. A fine little Chinese choice!

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Good and service were good. We didn't expected to have good chinese (Cantonese) food in Miami but to our surprise Canton Palace was good. We went back twice during our visit.
google avatar

Rafael S.

Yelp
What a discovery! After 13 years in Miami from up North this is now our best takeout! The pan fried leek & shrimp dumpling is delicious. All their dumplings are super well made and delicious Also Bao Buns are special. All very good from this hidden gem. Wow! Chinese comfort food

Sam L.

Yelp
Read lots of positive reviews and liked their menu, and so we just tried it out. Started with egg rolls, and they totally missed. That's a bad start for a Chinese restaurant. Then, had steamed shrimp dumplings, and they were mediocre. Then, had two seafood entrees that had no taste. Not terrible, but far from good. Not expensive, but I'd much rather pay a little more and have good food. Won't be going back. Sorry.
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
When we came here back in October (my wife was going to a trade show at the South Beach Convention Center), we stayed at the Hilton property fairly close-by, but we weren't gonna EAT there. A quick search on Yelp led us here, but they were (STILL!) only doing take-out. Only one window was open for people to pick up their orders and pay. It wasn't terribly impressive peeking inside - things kind of in disarray. The food that we ordered was not ready at the promised time, and I'd say the extra wait wasn't quite worth it. The quality is a touch below what you could expect from your average neighborhood Chinese take-out, but the quantity is there. The next day, as much out of a lack of time to search for other options as "let's give them another chance", we ordered some Singapore mee fun to take on the drive back to Orlando. It was slightly better than what we had the night before.

Adriana C.

Yelp
I don't have much to say but to feel dissatisfied and disgusted. I was on my lunch break and I went here just to waste $15 dollars , highly disappointed. As I was eating the chicken I noticed the quality of the chicken looked old but still ate it but as I continued going to the other chicken wings I seen dried up black blood or just old chicken.. my stomach isn't strong enough to eat something like this so as much as I don't like to waste food it definitely went in the garbage .. like how can you sale someone when the wings look like this NEVER AGAIN ..
google avatar

Ligia S.

Yelp
Súper authentic! Every ingredient is incredibly fresh making every single dish a beautiful delight! Some of our favorites and regular orders are the special fried rice, mixed vegetables, ribs, egg rolls, and the wonton soup that is as hearty as one could possibly wish for. They are in a simple strip mall but that just makes it an extra special find, like a diamond in the rough. One of our weekly stops rain or shine! Oh! and I can't leave out the fact that they ALWAYS get the order right with attention to detail and great portions!

Yelp
I have travelled far and wide in East Asia and I always come back to Cantonese food with its' rich delicious sauces! When I'm home in the U.S. me and my Man pal, tag along Bruce Lee, Master Lee would go to get these great brown sauces. To find a great brown Cantonese sauce is a true treasure like what you can find here. So enjoy the treasure! Charlene Collins-Lee Bruce Lee (Lee Jun Fan in memorium)

Yelp
I really love this place. I have been coming here for years and they never let me down. The service is great. The place is clean. The food is delish.

Confused O.

Yelp
First of all, I will say that the food was great. That was it, everything else wasn't. For starters, the waiter that was serving my group was somewhat complaining that we wanted to split the check and lept trying to tell us to put everything in one check (we still ended up splitting the check as we kept telling her). The service was bad to the point where it took a long time just bring out some drinks that a few of us had ordered (water was also asked again but never brought to the table). Also, as a restaurant, you would expect then to bring all the food that you ordered, but not this place. There were few times that drinks were mentioned (as stated earlier) and the waiter just kept saying "yes its coming" but never did until the third or fourth time it was asked, and there were some food missing overall that people had ordered. The best part was that when going to pay, it was mentioned to the waiter that some food never arrived, but the waiter kept saying it did arrive when it actually didn't (best part was that some of us actually wrote down what we had ordered and marked off on what was brought to the table, showing that not all the food came) and this was brought up to the waiter when paying but they kept persisting and complaining that everything was brought. Sadly, they still forced us to pay the full amount even when some of the food never arrived (what great service and listening skills they had). Overall, the service was bad and didn't live up to its expectations. All the reviews here are mainly about the food, but in reality reviews should be about both the food and service. If you are planning to come to this place, consider what is written here and either go alone or with someone else and make sure that all your food is brought to the table.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
The quality of the food is well above average with a large variety of menu choices. The service is average and the decor is below average. All in all, the quality of the food more than compensates for the average decor and service of this restaurant - consider take out.
google avatar

Annette M.

Yelp
I'm sorry, but this was the worst Chinese food. I've eaten in a long, long time the Mongolian beef had a few pieces of beef and all vegetables the fry wontons the oil was dripping from them in the general Tso chicken had no flavor. NEVER AGAIN
google avatar

Anh P.

Yelp
Great dim sum place! Solid food all around. Made to order. Everything we ordered came out hot and delicious. Highly recommend.

Esther H.

Yelp
Great food! Today was take-out and everything was as ordered, delicious pan fried dumplings & the special fried rice did not disappoint! I have been going to Canton Palace over 25 years... and all I can say is... always great food- that may be why the Chinese tourists' tour vans may be spotted parked nearby and our visitors are enjoying comfort food of China in Miami! Don't ever stop making delicious authentic Chinese dim sum and those dumplings! Thank you! E.H. + daughters!

Amber C.

Yelp
Food is gross they need to clean there wok taste like it has mold on it. Customer service is great up front but they still messed up my order.
google avatar

Patricia S.

Yelp
Nothing tasty except black bean sauce. Sorry . But it was not a good idea to get foods from here.

Mike M.

Yelp
I've lived in China and been to Chinese restaurants all over and I'm not exaggerating when I say the baked BBQ pork buns at Canton Palace are some of the BEST I've ever had. Unlike cart dim sum restaurants, all the dim sum here is fresh and made to order. I got each dim sum fresh, in the order it was prepared. This restaurant is a treasure. a dim sum brunch with friends is the perfect weekend activity. Support small family owned local businesses like this! They are the heart and soul of any city or community.

Ginger A.

Yelp
Okay place to eat for Canton food. The clam might be good, but others are okay, especially the shrimp dumpling, the wrap was not firm enough.

Buff E.

Yelp
So I moved to California and regretted leaving Miami because nobody in this state can make their dish. It's overwhelming to me that none of the Chinese restaurants here can make nor compare the taste of the Salted pepper pork, fried chicken with garlic and soy sauce. I wish I can go back Please keep this business afloat before they are gone.

Yelp
In a chilly November day, my roommate and I had the craving for some good' ole dim sum. We've been to many around us and have not been truly satisfied. After seeing the reviews and how many individuals stressed its authentic flavor, we decided to give Canton Palace a try. We came around noon and was immediately seated upon entering. On first look, the place was larger than what I expected from the outside. The decoration was nothing grand or flashy, but reminiscent enough of an Asian home that immediately gave me some unexplainable comfort. Servers quickly greeted us at the table and showed us both the dim sum and a-la-carte menu. Now, this place does not have the fancy metal carts to push around their dishes but, instead does dim sum by order. I actually don't mind this so much as this ensures that my plates are freshly cooked and at the proper temperature. Sometimes with dim sum carts, I feel like the foods get cold or taste like they have been out for long. My roommate and I ordered a number of dim sum favorites that they had on the menu (see pics). The variety they offer were pretty decent for a small local establishment -- carrying most of the necessities. We probably ordered more than necessary for two human beings but, #noregrets as each dish affirmed the choices we made. The beef chow fun noodles were perfectly soft and did not stick together - a true test of the chef's skills. Highlight of the dim sum has to be the lotus wrapped sticky rice and the tripe - a must at your visit. Overall, I loved this place, it has great dim sum and I can't wait to visit them again to try their other options, especially the duck!

Yelp
Authentic Chinese Food... It has gotten a little worse after the pandemic, but they are still one of the best Chinese restaurants, and with truly Chinese recipes
