Capet

"A restaurant with a rustic-urban feel in the heart of the city’s Gothic Quarter. Updated traditional cuisine that is highly contemporary but with a straightforward approach that comes as a pleasant surprise." - Michelin Inspector

Barcelona’s Best Restaurants in the Gothic Quarter, El Born, and El Raval | Eater

"A Catalan market restaurant that liberally uses French cooking techniques from a Venezuelan chef who’s done the rounds at some of the best kitchens in Barcelona. The food is elegant and well thought out. For example, a rice dish with botifarra comes with a shallow layer of rice so that there is abundant “socarrat,” the much-coveted crispy rice that forms around the edges of the pan." - Suzy Taher

Extraordinary food experience! I’ve never been to a Michelin restaurant before and I was expecting it to be good but it was even better than imagined. We went for the big tasting menu for 90€ (excluding drinks) per person which was a birthday present for my boyfriend. We got 8 courses (4 starters, 2 main dishes and 2 desserts) and every bite was so flavourful! I was absolutely amazed by the quality and the details that were put into each dish. Also I’m gluten intolerant and it was no problem at all. The vibe was also great and I loved how we got every dish well explained (in English). I would definitely come back again and can highly recommend this place! My boyfriend loved his birthday present and I’m happy we could share this special experience together

Very nice space, unfussy atmosphere, and absolutely top-shelf seasonal food prepared in simple, sophisticated ways. This is my favorite of the places we ate in a one week stay in Barcelona, good enough that we went a second time. I honestly don’t know why it’s not on everyone’s “best of” lists.

Sitting at the kitchen at first I felt observed but soon I was absorbed into the the care and attention given to each meal. More like an intricate and quiet dance than a group of workers. This food was beautiful and delicious. In addition it was so much more than we could have anticipated. Unfortunately we started to taste before remembering to take a photo.

This was the biggest culinary disappointment of our week in barcelona. We chose this place as an anniversary dinner and chose the €75 tasting menu. We dined there 12 march. There was no menu card describing what was to be eaten and when. First dish was carrot and pumpkin soup, with powdered curry on top. The powder kind of clumped when eaten; nothing spectacular. We didnt finish our serving. Next was a pumpkin something with salad/greens. The something was soft and formed but squishy. We couldnt finish the serving. Next was a guinea fowl in a sauce with probably pickled white beet or turnip. The meat was absolutely not warm. The server came by and said it was supposed to be served room temp - and that's fine, but it was not good. The flavor profile was good - just the room-temp meat was unappetizing. Server said she'd mention to the chef. Next was a hake fish served atop white beans. Not cold, but barely warm. Fish was cooked well, but the beans were in a kind of gooey clear sauce. Bland, and the pairing was odd pairing in flavor profiles. We didn't finish the service. Server said she'd take the feedback to the chef. Next was bizarre. Pig foot/hoof meat in a, frankly, gelatinous shaped blob. Completely inedible texture wise. Would have been better as a salsa or spread maybe? We didn't eat three bites. Server said she'd take the feedback to the chef. It featured corn and green and yellow sauce Last - dessert. An ice cream with no flavor and a banana bread toped with a - yes gelatinous maybe caramel "sauce"; the entire of the "sauce" could be picked up by its edge. Like thick jello. But what killed it was a chia cookie added. If any of the chia got onto the bite it destroyed every other flavor. Dessert became chia and thick jello slab. Server said she'd take our feedback to the kitchen. Service was fine - our server was very rushed dealing with a large group next to us and another couple. She tried hard to keep up. But even water service was delayed until after we had our wine. Still, i tipped her cash because nothing was her fault. Bill with wine was about €180 - no representative from the kitchen nor management cared to visit our table to talk about our experience. No mention of the anniversary occasion. Aside from the food, this place being listed in a Michelin guide and delivering substandard results was a huge disappointment.

We had the 5 course tasting menu. Fantastic! The wait staff were superb. Great experience. Restaurant is nestled in the winding lanes of the Gothic Quarter. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The environment and food were incredible and the staff were incredibly attentive and engaging. The food was of course amazing as well and the combinations of flavors in the kimchi croquetas and eggplant bites were perfectly balanced.

Tucked away in the Gothic Quarter, Capet offers a refined take on Catalan cuisine with French influences. Chef Armando Álvarez’s seasonal dishes are praised for their perfect execution and simplicity. The open kitchen adds to the experience, while the curated wine list complements each dish beautifully. A must-visit for an exceptional dining experience!

Wonderful meal, excellent service. A mix of local dishes, we went with the 5 course tasting menu with pairings. Not qualified to describe the food, except to say we thought the portion sizes perfect, and loved the local in season aspect to the food and wine. Really appreciate the accommodation of our 10 year old, where they cooked to his tastes and made the evening more memorable as a result. We ate early so had excellent attentive service.
