Build your own tasting menu w/ curious, subtle, delicate, robust

"Located in Notting Hill, my restaurant Caractère was set up with my husband Diego after we met at Le Gavroche; the restaurant’s journey to earn a MICHELIN Star was captured on Knife Edge and I found that experience incredible. The menu is intentionally playful and instinctive, with dishes grouped by character traits — curious, subtle, delicate or robust — so guests can build their own tasting menu." - Andrew Young

"'Never judge a book by its cover' certainly rings true here, as within this former pub sits a convivial and really quite stylish restaurant, where sophisticated cooking combines with efficient, unstuffy service. Alongside an à la carte, you have the option to ‘build your own’ 5 course tasting menu by selecting one dish from each of their ‘character’ profiles; these range from 'Subtle' (such as Acquerello risotto) to 'Robust' (roast lamb, perhaps) and finish with 'Greedy' for dessert. Top-notch ingredients and strong classical technique run throughout." - Michelin Inspector

"Caractère, owned by Michel's daughter Emily and son-in-law Diego, is located in Notting Hill. It's a neighbourhood haven offering food and service of exceptional quality." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team
"What It Is: High-end Italian inspired restaurant in Notting Hill Perfect For: Fine Dining, Dinner With Parents, Corporate Cards This place is casual enough, in that we felt that we could have turned up in jeans and t-shirts (so long as they were our best jeans and our best t-shirts), but we also found everything we expected of a high-end Italian spot. We had ravioli which was filled with rich-people meat, and totally swimming in butter. And then there was butter on top of that. All very tasty of course, but we also paid a pretty hefty price to eat it all, and although the room was a bit cold, it suits the crowd perfectly, and the service was delightful. Verdict: If Our feeling is, if you’re going to spend this much on a meal - save just a few more pennies and hit up the Ledbury, or Core By Clare Smyth instead. If someone else is paying, do it." - sam collins, oliver feldman, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, eileen twum

"A Notting Hill restaurant opened in 2018 by Emily Roux, the daughter of Michel Roux Junior; it represents the next generation of the Roux family’s presence in London's dining scene and continues the family's culinary tradition." - Adam Coghlan
