Caretta on the Gulf

Beautiful place for a fantastic dinner. Our server Amanda was exceptional! We sat outside for sunset dinner. The bread is amazing! We had sushi, Ceasar salad and grouper dinners. It was all delicious. This is an upscale restaurant, although we thought the prices were reasonable for portion you received.

Nice restaurant located inside of the Sandpearl Resort. It's open to people not staying in the resort and has a beautiful view of the beach if you sit on the patio (which is on the second floor), we didn't have trouble getting a table but I suggest making a reservation on the weekend. If you drive they provide free valet for up to 3 hours. The food was pretty good, they brought some complimentary bread and hors d'oeuvres while we waited, the crispy flakey bites were delicious. I ordered the Gulf Grouper, which was good but the sear was a bit over cooked (in my opinion at least) which I ended up cutting off. The other two people in my party had a salad and the NY strip which they both liked. Overall we had a very nice dinner, if you looking for an upscale restaurant with a beautiful and quiet view this is a great option.

We loved dining here! We had excellent service from Amanda (who was kind enough to take our photo outside) and the host was accommodating when we were a few minutes late to our reservations due to traffic. The food was amazing with great portion sizes. We got the lobster and filet - both great! About $65 each and $15 per drink. Also came with good bread. There is outdoor and indoor seating and we got a good view of the sunset from inside. We were not hotel guests but were given free 3 hour valet by being restaurant customers.

GO here if you are Gluten-free! They have the most amazing Gluten-free bread, and everything is either Gluten-free or can be made to be. The food is fantastic and the oysters were amazing! You get fresh bread with 3 dipping sauces....hands down so delish! The service was amazing. They make you valet park, but it's door to door service. I tipped the guy a $5 after he offered and have us water for the road. The sunset from the restaurant or beach after is amazing. Highly recommend!

We came here for lunch and had a lovely experience. The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic — refined and with a touch of high-end cuisine. We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful ocean view, which made the meal even more special. Highly recommend!

Had an amazing experience here food was exceptional. I was seated at a bar table my waitress was phenomenal I wish I could remember her name. The meal here was easily the best I had during my time in Clearwater Beach. I highly recommend and will definitely return for another wonderful experience.

Actually gorgeous place to have breakfast. The service is top notch. We will be back for dinner for sure. The eggs benedict was absolutely perfect and the presentation was beautiful!!! We went back a few days later and had dinner it was out of this world. The sunset view was absolutely stunning. The wine that was recommended by the manager was so smooth. I went here with my husband for our anniversary night. We had an amazing dinner and view. The food and wine were delicious and our waiter, Devin, was the absolute best! Definitely plan to come again!

Unfortunately the food was sub par. While our steak was delicious, our appetizer ~jumbo lump crab ~was served cold. We mentioned this to our incredible server and Sam promptly took care of this. Served with our steak were fingerling potatoes ~ delicious. And hard, cold vegetables. No bueno. We chose grilled mushrooms ~ also not good at all. We are not picky or complaining folks and choose to keep our comments for this review. Two great things ~ our server and the gorgeous sunset!!! Chef needs to pay a bit more attention to details of food temperatures. Thanks.

Here we are and it's almost Christmas time again... Our 2023 Christmas dinner buffet was everything and more! The hotel was festively decorated and the Gulf views were stunning for our perfectly gorgeous sunset! The delectables were beautiful arranged with choices beyond measure and yes, ever so scrumptious! Such a lovely and romantic setting and atmosphere, we almost felt we were in our own little bubble! We absolutely loved everything about our time there that my husband and I are looking forward to this Christmastime at Caretta on the Gulf with great anticipation!

Loved the decor and vibe of this place. I wish I had more time to explore the menu. Unfortunately I came here before leaving Florida just to have their crab martini. I love crab meat and would rather have thieie crab martini then going to some of the local crab places in the area to crack the legs open It's a nice amount of fresh crab meat delightfully served in a martini glass. No cracking. No fuss. No mess. Just delicious indulgence. The bartender was friendly, engaging and helpful. Ended with sorbet. The bartender was right, the tropical one is best! Until next time

The brunch experience is a must-try if you're in the area. The assortment of food is a good mix for all taste palettes. The tops are fresh and tasty. However, for me, the star of the show is the spinach and artichoke dip. It is addictive and so creamy. The unlimited mimosas is awesome too. This is a 10/10 and is on the "definitely will return) list. Last but not least, our server Connie provided exceptional service and made the time enjoyable.

With a desire to sit outside the reserved table took a little longer than expected, but that was okay. It was good to start at the bar and be called over when it was ready. Sitting outside on a Saturday night in April had the bonus of listening to the wedding party still going on full tilt below. The CAESAR - chopped baby romaine, shaved parmesan, tomato confit, brioche croutons, reggiano tuile, housemade dressing, to start was amazing. I have never had tomato confit like that before. Wow! For my main I had the Gulf Grouper - roasted corn & poblano risotto, foraged mushrooms, artichokes, heirloom tomato, aged goat gouda, lobster béarnaise which was perfect. Plus, I had a small taste of the CHILEAN SEA BASS - pan-seared, spaghetti squash, scampi butter also at the table. Though I still preferred mine you couldn't go wrong with either choice. Overall, from start to finish it was a great experience and service outside was excellent.

I was visiting Clearwater Beach to see the Phillies play in spring training and stayed at the Sandpearl Resort, which is also the home to the restaurant Caretta on the Gulf. Caretta on the Gulf is easily the best restaurant in Clearwater Beach and is one of the best dining experiences that I have had anywhere! In fact, it was so good that we went twice! The ambiance of Caretta' did beautiful. There is a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. If you come for dinner, you will also see the beautiful sunsets at night. There is indoor seating, which we sat in, but also outdoor seating. The food here is delicious. Every item that you get is guaranteed to be high quality and scrumptious. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and the Wild Mushroom and spinach ravioli in both times I was here and they were amazing. Fresh ingredients, served hot, perfectly seasoned and nicely presented. The bread they serve here is also very solid. They serve fresh and warm challah bread and cheese rolls. Very tasty! They also have a sushi bar here. Very wonderful! I had the bagel roll, which is very similar to the Philadelphia roll, and the surf-and-turf roll, lobster, asparagus with a thin slice of steak on the top. These were some of the best sushi rolls that I've ever had. Very filling, so don't get too many, though, or come with a big party. The waiters that I had here were classy, professional and attentive. One of my waiters, Devin, was very professional and nice. He knew the menu well and help guide us in the right direction. The waiters here are definitely well-trained and could be working in a nice New York steakhouse, but also balance their professional with the fact that this is a restaurant on the beach, so a bit more casual. The chocolate ice cream that I had here for dessert was the best that I have ever had. Extremely creamy with a distinct chocolate taste. The chocolate skillet cookie was also good, but it's massive! Be prepared to share. Altogether, I highly recommend Caretta on the Gulf! This is the best and nicest restaurant in Clearwater Beach. One if the best dining experiences that I have ever had!

Been there a few times always great service and food, the amazing view is pretty great too Took my 5 year old grandson there for his birthday a few years back the chef made a special meal for him (chicken nuggets and rice) that was awesome we had a delicious filet and crab meal our selves They were wonderful

Amazing! The food was exquisite and the service impeccable. The entire place was a vibe. There was a live band and their selection of songs kept everyone on the dance floor. Our server was attentive and we had everything we needed at a moments notice. Our glasses were always full and they even brought me a free dessert for my birthday!

Birthday dinner for my wife. Amazing service and beautiful decor. Oysters - awesome. King Crab legs - amazing. Steak - how about a 24 oz Wagyu on bone steak? Nice. Great drinks. Loved it.

Juan Carlos is the bomb.com! Celebrated a very special occasion and had impeccable service, as well as a beautiful ambiance (sunset vibes). Juan was so attentive and fun - we came back the following day just to say hi, share some of the egg rolls we didn't try the night before and have a smoked old fashion. Needless to say, we had 2 orders of the egg rolls and an undisclosed number of oldies! A must have is the gluten-free bread. Trust me, you'll be asking for a separate basket of this bread service! So yum! Like a cheesy, warm pillow of goodness in every bite. You don't even need the accompaniment of butter or oil, but it's provided if you're feeling like you need a lil extra something. We split the tuna appetizer and sea bass for dinner. Tuna was high-quality and very fresh. Was a little on the spicier side for my liking, but that's just a personal preference. Nothing went to waste, nonetheless. The sea bass came on a bed of spaghetti squash. It was nice that they split the dish for us, but the squash was a bit tasteless and the sea bass had an odd soapy taste to it that lingered. Fish was cooked to perfection and presentation was nice, the flavor just wasn't giving what we expected it to. There were a number of other delicious looking choices on the menu, so I'd probably go with something else next time. The meal ended with crème brûlée for dessert, courtesy of the restaurant. Very nice added touch and oh so delicious! The consistency and flavor was *chefs kiss*. I liked the fresh fruit with it. Made for a nice balance-still pretty rich though, so we couldn't finish but enjoyed every bite. The location at the Sandpearl Resort is very convenient and I would definitely return to celebrate another occasion, putting this place on the list to visit again with our amazing server, Juan. Thank you for making us feel so special!

This is a review of both a dinner and a breakfast. We were staying at the Sandpearl so we tried both dinner and breakfast here. I heard that if you're here for less than three hours and eat here your valet will be comped. Otherwise it was $42. There isn't any self parking at this hotel, so moral of the story is stay for less than three hours. Dinner: Their bread basket is amazing. The cheese bread was the best thing I ate all weekend. It was amazingly chewy, as if there was a bit of tapioca flour in it. I'm not kidding when I say I ate three of them. For dinner I got the grouper with risotto. Weirdly, there isn't a lot of carbs on the menu (hence the reason I ate three cheese biscuits). There's a lot of spaghetti squash, but no actual noodles. That's why I went with the grouper, I wanted the risotto. After spending the day drinking at the pool I was ready for carbs. It was really good. At dinner the lights are low and there's a wonderful view of the ocean. We witnessed a couple getting engaged on the beach, I feel like that must be a common occurrence here. Breakfast: They have a breakfast buffet and a breakfast menu. After perusing the breakfast buffet, I decided I rather order off the menu. I got the duck menage a trois. It was so good, but a little too fatty for me. The duck confit was fried, so there was a lot of grease. I ended up leaving part of the biscuit. It's a lot lighter in the restaurant during breakfast. Overall, I think this is a great restaurant, which adds to the allure of staying at this resort.

I absolutely loved that they texted me initially after our hotel reservation to see if we wanted to book. I followed link and it looked perfect for dinner so we booked and we got reminder confirmation day of -so great!

Don't go here if you are a couple in your late 20s on vacation. They automatically assume you don't make money and treat you unwell. I wish the older generation understood young adults now work hard to make good money and aren't your "spring breakers" all the time.

Took my wife for a date night(we are local) and was very impressed. The ambiance, views and overall vibes were very good. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server (can't remember his name) was extremely attentive. The cheese bread and challah were a great way to start the meal. We also ordered the lobster bisque (not pictured) which I would say was the only negative of the experience. It was not buttery, didn't come out hot and I would have expected more lobster for the price. Everything else was fantastic though. My old fashion was amazing, our NY strip was cooked perfect and the snapper was very tasty. We finished with the homemade creme brûlée and coffee drinks which were all top notch. After our meal we went down towards the beach, grabbed a drink and watched the sunset. Overall, a great date night and we will return.

Fabulous dining experience. The service was as amazing as the food. The crab cake was one of the best i have ever tasted. The sushi was also top notch! There were three of us dining, we had the grouper, snapper and Chilean sea bass. We all tasted each other's meal, and we were all in agreement, we could not decide who had the better meal. All three fish dishes were amazing and prepared to perfection. Great wine selection as well! We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful sunset! I will certainly be back. Only the next time I will be staying at the Sandpearl Hotel. Hoping for the same level of service within the hotel as we experienced dining here at Caretta's. Fantastic job, a big thank you to the staff at Caretta on the Gulf!!!

Everyone says you must go to Caretta's but I thought the food was overrated. The restaurant is elegant and classy but the food was not up to par and the service was OK at best. We were visiting for a few days and went for a friday night dinner. The oysters were delicious but the Caesar salad was a huge disappointment! It's so simple but the the dish was just the ingredients thrown on a plate to look pretty. It was whatever and I would never order it again. The oysters were good, the fish was ok and the steak wasn't seasoned that well. One of the biggest disappointments was that we ordered a very nice bottle of wine and our waiter poured it into the decanter but forgot about it and never came back to pour our glasses for us. So my husband just did it. I meanC he came back 15mins later and said omg, did I not pour you glasses? We will not be returning! Ha! No thank you.

Was staying at the Sandpearl Resort and decided to give this on-site restaurant a try. The service was excellent, our server was really sweet and helpful. I ordered the surf and turf sushi roll and my friends ordered wonton tacos (very small for the price) and volcano roll. The food and drinks were tasty. For the pricing I was expecting the portions to be a bit larger but overall I would be back. Best of all - the view of the ocean, try to come during sunset!

This whole experience was so beautiful. My friend and I went for my birthday which was on a sunday. We drove almost 2 hours just to have this experience and let me tell you it did not disappoint. The view was impeccable, we sat right in front of the window over looking the beach and the ambiance was just beautiful. Our server was amazing and helped us through the menu as it was our first time there. One the food started to come out I knew for sure I had made the right decision. The wagyu short rib as an appetizer was absolutely delicious, perfectly tender and juicy. We also got two hand rolls, the yellowtail jalapeño and the california with snow crab and both exceeded expectations. The yellowtail roll was so buttery and flavorful while the california roll had a good classic flavor with a little bit of a twist with the snow crab. As our entree we shared the sea bass with a lemon butter scampi sauce and my only complaint would be a few heavier handed sprinkles of salt and pepper. Overall, This was an amazing experience that I highly recommend for anyone who's celebrating or just looking to try something new!

What a wonderful dining experience. The worst part of the meal was the bread. It is so good you will not want to stop eating it thus making you struggle through the later parts of the meal. All the food and the wine was perfect. Would've been a five but after 8:00 hit it was as though Cinderella had to run home. The restaurant ambiance significantly slowed down and along with that the wait staff slowed down somewhat also.

Food is amazing and love the outside seating on a good weather day. The atmosphere inside is A little dark and could use an update but food is incredible.

Best dinner my husband and I have ever had! The staff was so incredible and our waitress was so sweet! We were sat right by the window with a beach view. It was our wedding anniversary and they brought us the most delicious dessert. If we ever travel back to Florida we will absolutely be coming back here again!

This is my absolute favorite brunch in the state of Florida! An amazing buffet with sushi, raw bar, salad, fruit, omelet station, carving station, AND a whole separate room with chafing dishes of hot entrees. Bon Apetit!!

Great ambiance and service. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset as we ate. Summer salad was as worthy, Caesar salad only so-so. Lamb chops were good, Sea Bass was not as good as at Clear Sky or Seaweed. Little overdone here. Ambiance and atmosphere cannot be beat. We loved being here and the view is magnificent. Come for that.

I made reservations about 3 months out for my mom's 90th birthday. When we arrived we were given a table in the corner right behind a banquet room, in which there was a large and loud event happening. I asked our waiter if he could move us, as we couldn't hear each other talk. There was no one else in the restaurant. He came back saying everything was booked, but managed to get us a table a bit away from the banquet room. The service was less than adequate. No one ate their dinner, except for my brothers and they both had the Ahi Tuna. Every other meal was too salty or just plain bad. The only redeeming quality was the pastry chef!! I called the day before and she was able to make a small cake just for mom. And it was delicious! I did speak to manager Dan, who told me he'd have his food and beverage manager look into this... of course I've never heard from anyone. And lastly, I'm not sure they tout this restaurant as a ocean view, but from the 2 tables we had there was no view Would I go back... Hell no....

The crispy skin chicken is a 10, we eat here 3-4 times every time we visit Clearwater beach. The staff is always pleasant, they remember our daughter each time as well.
