"Pizza is always a hit and is usually very affordable. Locals looking for a cheap slice will want to get the NY Slices, which cost about $4. Of course, one can’t live on pizza alone. Other cheap eats on the menu include Wisconsin-style cheese curds that come to the table perfectly golden brown and melty and the Greek Island Salad, which comes topped with stuffed grape leaves and other traditional mix-ins." - Megan duBois

"Carmines Pie House bakes New York-style and Chicago-style pizzas to have a little something for everyone. Inside, the restaurant boasts a unique interior, with murals by local artists and interesting decor like a pink cow wearing Mardi Gras beads. The specialty pizzas here are worth driving across town for, with combinations like jerk chicken with onions and bacon; French fries, mushrooms, and Philly steak; and the Triskaidek-Italia which comes with a dozen toppings including three types of cheese and five different meats." - Megan duBois

The food was good but definitely could use more flavor. The atmosphere on a Friday is packed and lively but very nice and the servers do try to get everyone seated in a timely manner. The server we had was very sweet and helpful. The portion sizes are huge! When I say huge I mean it! Literally the lasagna could feed 3 people! The appetizers are also great sizes you really get your moneys worth. I loved this place overall 💕 these items came out to $50.85

Google
What a fun spot! I was in Chicago last month and had some deep dish- kept me craving more and it's hard to find. Carmine's has a ginormous menu, and all I tried was a deep dish with tomato and black olive. I always review for vegetarians, and this place has plenty of options and labels it, too. Although the pizza was not as good as Chicago, it was still very yummy! It comes as a filled pizza with dough and marinara on top. They do NOT scrimp at all- loads of cheese (maybe a little too much), sauce and crust nicely done (I added crushed red peppers but always do). My server, Ashley was perfect- enjoyable and timely despite the parking lot full at 6:30 on a Thursday. I don't live in the area but if I did, I would definitely come back!

Out of town for a convention, first time eating here. We sat outside to eat and it was raining so hard to judge the atmosphere. The food though.. food was fantastic. Pizza was great and I had the best Oreo cake I've ever had! Service was pretty slow and we almost left but, I'm glad we stayed for that great food.

Google
A great local pizza joint with cold beer and awesome pizza. Great service and good food. I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. It’s a no frills place with a chill atmosphere. Our pizza of choice is the Isabella Rossellini. So good we ate half before I took the pick. On site parking is a plus.

Earlier this week I read that a local Jacksonville restaurant was voted by Yelp to be the second best Chicago style pizza in the US. So, today we tried out Carmine's Pie House with some friends. We got a thin crust and a Chicago style to share. They were both good, but that deep dish Chicago style was the bomb! We don't know who the #1 Chicago style pizza is, but our guess is Gino's East in Chicago. So good!

Omgosh.... where do I even start?! This was our first visit, and won't be the last when we visit Jacksonville. As soon as we entered we were immediately greeted. It was a Saturday night and they were busy. However a booth had just finished and left, and they immediately cleaned it and sat us! The server came over with menus and took our drink order. When she returned with the drinks she answered questions we had about the menu. Mainly for myself since I do not eat meat. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and had a very pleasant attitude. A few minutes after we placed our order she returned to inform us they were out of eggplant and the 2 pizzas we ordered included eggplant. It wasn't a big deal, we kept our pizza choices just without eggplant. Our food arrived and was piping hot! The presentation was on point! Everyone in our party was very happy with their food selection. The server also kept a sharp eye on our drinks and refilled in an appropriate timely manner. The Playlist was everything!!!! It put me in such a good mood! It had me singing (not out loud, that would be criminal) and swaying in my booth! Overall, the restaurant was very clean, the staff was extremely friendly, and the food was amazing! We will have to go back now to retry our pizzas with eggplant!

Google
We read about this amazing Chicago style pizza in an article in the local news. Carmines was rated one of the best pizza places in the country for Chicago pizza. We were not disappointed and enjoyed the very much. The pizza is very heavy and one slice maybe two should fill you up, plenty of leftovers! I liked the plain cheese, but my husband got a meat lovers pizza and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely be back to try more things on the menu.

Google
My boyfriend and I visited Carmine's over the weekend for their Chicago deep dish. It was amazing! I had the Boca white pizza and he had the American Graffiti; we also split some onion rings. The place is small and has a dive-y feel - which is far from a bad thing, but just something that's nice to know before you get there. They were suuuper busy the evening we went both with dine-in customers and takeout, but our server kept drinks coming and we felt we were taken care of. Part of the feel of the place is the eclectic collection of indoor decor. Some of it needed to be dusted as it was hanging from the ceiling and that's a hard place to get to for routine cleaning. I'd love to go back! The pizza may be the best I have ever had. I guess I will definitely have to go back to put that to the test, haha. Thanks for a great dinner, Carmine's!

Yelp
Amazing pie! Deep dish was great! HH beer specials, great pizza, good salad and dressing and attentive servers graced this place at our last visit. Please give their Chicago deep dish a try...even if you're from Chicago. We had sausage and mushroom toppings and this one pizza gave us easily 4 meals....1 in house and 3 lunches take home. Thick and full and sauced right with no skimping in the toppings. That's right.. no skimping. The first sign of any restaurant as it topples over and heads into the gutter is skimping on things that should not be skimped on. Carmines is doing it right. I've been here before with coworkers for lunch, but I've not written a review on those instances. But I brought my wife here so she could experience it while we were downtown last week and she felt like I did. We love this place. We loved the food.

Yelp
Bailey and her team were wonderful! Thank you! David Kanefsky Insurance Agency 720-625-0221

Yelp
Sshhh! Stop telling people about Carmine's! No but seriously, this is a quirky little spot with very limited parking, but the food is fantastic! I'm giving five stars even though I think they really need to up the beer selection game. Less fru-fru stuff and more real beers, please. Good pizza is meant to be enjoyed with good beer! The pizza at Carmine's might be in the top three in the city!

Yunior R.

Yelp
Pizza and salads are great! The service was outstanding as the sever was very attentive and answered several of our questions. The place is small but has charm and is clean. Recommend for those looking for good pizza!

Yelp
My husband and I recently came in while visiting the Jacksonville area. We were fortunately staying just steps away from the restaurant and smelled the garlic billowing out as we walked up. They were slammed around 6:30 pm on a Friday night as to be expected, but we were able to find two seats at the bar. We got excellent, friendly service throughout our experience. They have a great selection of draft, cans, and bottled beers & seltzers. We decided to get a Caesar salad and a New York style Margherita pizza. The food was delicious, and clearly made with fresh sauce, high quality cheese, and other ingredients. We did not leave any trace of food or drinks behind. We will 1,000% be back next time we're in town!

Romero H.

Yelp
I was able to grab a table outside upon arrival. My party was quickly greeted by a server and our drinks came out promptly. On to the good stuff. I've heard good things about Carmines pizzas but today wasn't the day for me to experience a whole pie so I settled for a Chicago style Calzone with some pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. VERY flavorful! I also sampled the Ranch Cajun wings which were absolutely delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and I will be returning to try out a whole pie in the near future with more friends. With that being said if you're in the San Marco neighborhood stop in and try some of their delicious food. You are bound to find something to your liking

Priscilla M.

Yelp
This was our first time here and it did not disappoint. We met another couple and it was perfect for a casual and fun dinner. We had the sweetest server who was very attentive to our needs. We all throughly enjoyed our meals and there was plenty to take home. Can't wait to go back to try something else.

Sam C.

Yelp
We read about Carmines in a News4Jax article about the top places in the country for Chicago style pizza. We went on a Friday night and it was busy but organized. The pizza was amazing and will definitely be returning.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Carmines is our go to for a family friendly dinner out. We love their pizza, salad, wings, and sandwiches. This time in we got a kids cheese slice, which is cut up into small pieces which our son loved. I ordered the large cesar salad and a slice of pepperoni. The salad was big and came with more than enough of the homemade dressing on the side! The salad made me full enough that I had to bring home the pepperoni slice I ordered ( it was delicious the next day). I wanted the purple parm (eggplant parm sandwich) but they were out. My husband ordered the Jersey Shore Fried Calzone with sausage. It was stuffed with their delicious ricotta mixture and the crust was so soft yet crunchy! The service was fantastic. We were seated promptly and our drink and food orders were taken shortly after. I did order a togo dessert but did not get a picture of it before we ate it up. I am obsessed with their almond tiramisu. Be warned if you are a die hard for the coffee flavor this is not for you. It is almond flavored and has crushed almonds on the top layer. I get one every time we are in. Not too sweet...just sweet enough. If your in the King Street area check out Carmines!

Linda A.

Yelp
Carmine's never fails to provide a fabulous meal. On our most recent visit Richard was our server and he is a consummate professional. Always making sure our drinks were full and we had everything we needed. We had the "It's a train wreck baby" deep dish Chicago pizza and it was incredible and I was completely full on one slice. I tasted the tiramisu, which was to die for, but had to save it for a late night snack. The interior is so unique. You never know what you'll find in the ceiling. It's a great place to take children who are old enough to play "I spy", because they can find almost anything. This is definitely the best pizza in Jax.

Sompong P.

Yelp
It's Friday and the beginning of Easter weekend some Za was on the mind and what better hour to hit your local neighborhood pizza joint than happy hour! I saw it as soon as I looked at the blackboard above the bar.. some ales on tap and a house white or red wine for the anti-hoppy drinkers were the specials tonight. Another section of the board was a list of Fan faves and Go-to selections for the little bunnies. Loved that the restaurant is family friendly and all are welcomed especially with the warm welcome of staff. Places like these even if in its chaos you can feel the love that gets put into the craft and guests. it also says so on the menu which I thought was fun. it was surely a happy vibe during dinner rush. Food was fantastic and I would most definitely come back to try another specialty pie. Maybe our next visit we will indulge in the Dinner menu as well. Eyes on the Parm! Husband and I ordered Cheese curds, wings and the Train Wreck tonight. We both became a fan of Carmine's at first bite. Fried cheese curds were perfectly fried and so were the wings. Breading and crunch was excellent. The Gold Rush sauce was delish. I also ordered a side of the mango habanero sauce--also yums-spicy kick. I enjoyed the wings so much that I finished the plate and had barely any room for the pizza. Husband complimented the Dough/Sauce/Topping ratio. It has been awhile since we've had s crispy crust that the toppings actually stay on when you take a bite. If we could we would just order the dough to take home and bake with a cup of that marinara to dunk it in. Respect to the Dough and Sauce. The taste and texture 10/10. No regrets on the carbs tonight!

Lana C.

Yelp
I'm going to preface this by saying I really wanted another place that's closed today so it would take a lot to displace that. The wings are enormous, which you'd expect for $15/10. The garlic parmesan flavor is good. But there's something about the breading I didn't love. I like zucchini fries but there is barely any in here, like 90% fry and 10% zucchini. And the remoulade has a distracting amount of horseradish. The funny part about this is I so rarely complain about food, I'm usually just happy to be eating, but I didn't love it. However I'm glad I did it and I'll probably come back and get other things. And my server Madison was great, especially considering it is the lunch rush inside and I was the only customer sitting outside.

John P.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best wings I've ever had. Sorry I didn't take a picture but man were they flippin fantastic !! How do you keep a wing super crispy and crunchy while drenched in flavor??? What is this madness???? We had the garlic parm which was a house made sauce that was out of this world. Then our Chicago Deep Dish pizza arrived. The crispy top is slathered in a ricotta garlic smear that set this pie apart from the ordinary. Everything was super delicious !!

Yelp
Today, we surprised our supervisor with a birthday/bosses day lunch. I searched for restaurants in the Riverside area, and this one sounded very appealing, and the team voted on this one over other establishments. I have to say their votes were casted very wisely! First, we arrived a few minutes before they opened, and a gentleman greeted me with a handshake, a welcome and open the door. Even though it was a little before 11 he did not hesitate, and was very accommodating to seating 15 people. They quickly got the tables together and provided an opportunity for all of us to share a meal, celebrate our supervisors, birthday and bosses day. First thing that caught our attention is the decor, the upside down Christmas tree, and the various artistic pieces truly capture your attention. This is definitely a local owned place, which is very important. My only suggestion however, the ceiling fan blades needed to be cleaned. That was the one thing I noticed when I looked up. Let's talk about the Service. I wish I had our servers name because she was phenomenal. She remembered everybody's drink order without having to ask and she was very patient was such a large table. She may spot on recommendations and maintain a great sense of humor when she had 15 hungry mouths to serve. I had the calzone, which I will say was very good. (wished it wasn't cooked as Brown, but nonetheless, the flavor was good). Several of my coworkers got a slice or two of pizza and I have to say not only were they huge, but they were loaded with toppings! I almost wished I had done the pizza because it looked so good. I think the next time I go to Chicago crust is in my purview, because that really looked great. Overall I love supporting local establishments versus chains, and here is a good reason why! The food is worth it, very surprised at how inexpensive and customer service you received and the ambience makes it worth your time to drive over.

Missy H.

Yelp
Best pizza ever! Awesome salad! Love, love, love Carmine's!!! Great service! Easily accessible.....go early because they fill up fast.

Rachel C.

Yelp
My husband is from Chicago so we know Deep Dish Pizza. Hands down Best Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Rated #2 in U.S. - Carmines Pie House in Riverside. Building is nothing to write home about but the Pizza is A+!!!

J D.

Yelp
Pizza is awesome. Cosmic Collisions was very yummy. Service was fabulous. Great place to eat.

Jessica R.

Yelp
Ventured in again after many ,many years hoping things were better than I remembered - they're not. My husband saw a Yelp top 10 deep dish pizza post and wanted to try the 'Chicago style' deep dish. I wouldn't compare this to Chicago deep dish. There was an unexpected (and unwelcome) top crust slightly hidden below the sauce, that made it seem like there was the expected amount of thick tomato sauce on top. Had to ask for a side of marinara just to make the pizza just okay. Wings were breaded and not very good. Wouldn't go back.

Jacqueline R.

Yelp
I love this local joint - the food is great and it has the feeling of 'Cheers'. You will see locals here. The prices are very reasonable and the servers are friendly neighbors.

Anthony P.

Yelp
I LOVE CARMINES!! They have AMAZING PIZZAS & CALZONES!! Plus a whole menu of great offerings! The staff is quick & attentive, did not have to wait very long for anything! (And they were packed!) Can't say enough about the food!! Even though the place was packed. We didn't have to wait that long to sit. The wait staff seemed to do a great job expediting, and getting tables done. The place is a little Retro- but that's part of the charm! Love coming here! Never disappointed!!

Nathanel J.

Yelp
My sister said "if you're coming to Jacksonville you have to try this place out" and she did not disappoint with the recommendation. Pizza slices as big as my face? Calzones as big as my head? Wings so bomb they make you forget your entre? and to put a cherry on top with draft beers? enough said. I love it here. also ... S/o to Phinehas. by far the coolest server. made sure we were taken care of. from recommendations to to-go cups. He had our backs. Inside, it felt like a true local spot. Felt like the people and staff here were all like my next door neighbors.

Keith B.

Yelp
The Chicago style deep dish is by far my favorite in the area. It is always worth the extra time when sitting in or waiting for a to go order. I've yet to be disappointment. It's throughly cooked and not lacking any sauce. I've had a few sandwiches from here as well and they are great which was unexpected. The serves always seem to be nice too. The atmosphere isn't something for fine dining, but it certainly feels welcoming.

Hope S.

Yelp
Carmines Pie House was really tasty and worth the wait! Ambiance: Carmines is casual - like typical pizza places. The wait was a bit long (1 hour), but I would say worth the wait. There isn't much seating for people waiting except for in the parking lot when inside area is full. Service: FAST and HELPFUL! We asked our server what she would recommend we get as it was our first time and she immediately gave us a bunch of tasty options. Food: My husband and I ordered the garlic bread and the Boca Raton White Pie Chicago Style Pizza (photo). Both dishes were AMAZING! The garlic bread is pretty big, too. I would say this could easily feed 4 people. We added pepperoni to our pizza to give it some meat flare and it did NOT disappoint. Needless to say, we will be back to try more of their options.

Ben M.

Yelp
I've ordered take out from Carmines a few times now and it's quickly becoming our favorite local pizza place. A bit more expensive than Pizza Hut or Dominos but it's a lot better and worth the price. Although the New York style is called "Thin and Crispy" it's not hard or wafer thin, it's actually perfect. If you are looking for a regular pizza, you will want to order this. The Chicago Style is a deep dish pizza and it rocks too. The one we ordered had sauce on the outside but I am not sure if they all do. The below photos are from two separate orders.

Deunka T.

Yelp
My favorite pizza place in jax! Always hot and made to order . The workers are very nice always speak and make you feel welcome. I don't know about you but, when I spend my money with a business I would like to be spoken to lol. They sale Chicago style and New York thin pizzas. Also pizza by the slice (New York style only) cake slices and much more . Stop by and buy a pie you will definitely enjoy

Tish C.

Yelp
Man! I cannot believe we have been living in Jax for over 5 years and September 2023 was the first time I was blessed to taste this goodness. The sweet chili wings are amazing! The combination of sweet and spicy was a love like no other. I also had NY style pizza, eh wasn't moved. My second experience was recently when having dinner with a friend. We decided since we were already in the area we would sit down to eat. The restaurant is quite eclectic and shows support for all communities. The server Richard was so nice and attentive. I ordered onion rings and a calzone with pepperonis and sausage, with an order of wings to go for my wife. The portions are so large they cannot be eaten in one sitting. It's true, leftovers are the best. While I didn't get a chance to explore the dessert case, I'm looking forward to adding that experience to my review.

Sharon T.

Yelp
Good food. Great service! Family friendly. Will definitely go here again. Casual dining.

Samantha R.

Yelp
Another great lunch with the Team. The Topefo and a NYC Cheesesteak. Highly recommend both!

Cami W.

Yelp
Always tasty! Pasta was cooked as well as bow tie can be. Meatball had a lot of flavor. Pizza is delish and filling!

Cathy D.

Yelp
Personally I ate inside once and would not do so again because it felt so dirty, but the place usually crowded so I guess it's just me? I know a lot of people who love the pizza here. The times I've had it we did takeout and it was pretty good pizza.

Meryl S.

Yelp
Called the restaurant at 9:00 to ask if they are still serving. The manager told me that if we arrived prior to 9:45 that they would serve us. We arrived at 9:30 and she told us that they decided to close early and refused to serve us. We drove 30 minutes to get there and would have gone somewhere else if she had told us that they would not be able to serve us . They lost good customers because of their poor customer service. We will not be back. I do not recommend this establishment.

Mike B.

Yelp
Had to get my Chicago deep dish pizza Fix it was like going back home the deep dish was cooked to perfection great crust lots of cheese and an awesome sauce. I was glad I stopped in, our friend tried the BBQ chicken pizza and tasted oh sooo good we had to try the chicken pesto nice and creamy with a great pesto flavor. Nothing fancy just great food and service.

Thomas H.

Yelp
The food was delicious. One of the best pies I have had in a while. Beats the chains for sure. Service is as expected. Sort of delayed with service (as I base it upon my drink - which sat empty on the edge of the table for over 7 minutes - with 3 servers and 1 customer table). The ambiance is eclectic, pretty cool and interesting. If you're in the area, give them a try.

Whitney S.

Yelp
We had been waiting to go here when it wasn't packed. Today was the perfect opportunity. The service and the food were amazing. We got the cheese curds and the pesto change-o bread as an appetizer. We came for the stuffed Chicago pizza and it was great. Our only complaint was the bottom of the pizza was burnt but everything else was 10/10.

Kiera M.

Yelp
Came here because it was National Deep Dish Pizza Day, and Carmines did not disappoint. Ordered the Chicago Style Deep dish pizza with pepperoni, and it was great. The cheese was warm and gooey, and the pepperoni was flavorful. Even my family, some of the harshest critics, said it was good. Our waiter Richard even made his special Ginger Ale for us. Definitely give this pizza place a try.

Quy M.

Yelp
If you've never eaten here. YOU ARE MISSING OUT. The parking can get a little tight and the restaurant is not that big, but the food is amazing. They have hands down the best cheesesteak and fries in the area. The portion is massive too. If alterations are your thing then this place might not be for you, but everything I've ordered on the menu has been great as is. Wait is totally worth it.

John M.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza and subs! Top it off with a slice of the chocolate malt cake - you won't regret it. Victoria was great!

Bob B.

Yelp
I headed to JAX for some business and went out to dine with my co-worker's family. We hit up Carmines on a Sunday night during a Jags game. The place was absolutely packed, loud and they were slinging pies and pasta and appetizers left and right. We grabbed a corner booth, sat down and perused the menu. After a few we ordered up cheesy bread, pizza fries and some wings to start all of which were incredible and tasty. Next came the pies. I love Chicago Style Deep Dish, so I jumped at the chance to grab one. Pepperoni and sausage was the choice. It came out after the rest of the pies since it has to cook a bit longer. It was worth the wait. It was every bit as good as Lou's in Chi Town. Carmine got it right. When I'm back in JAX, Carmine's will be my jam. Note: Parking is a bit of a bear and if you park in the drive thru spot a guy, who could be Carmine himself, will come out and yell at you to move.

K H.

Yelp
Always a great meal at Carmines. Extraordinary service from Richard today. A table wine pour. Great music mix. A must do for us when in Jax.

Edward F.

Yelp
Stopped by while working in the area, coworker said it was really good. Three of us went twice! First time pizza slices and the chef salad was ordered. Pizza was amazing and the salad hit the, hearty salad with extras. The next day for lunch two of us got the beef sandwich..... holy hell was it amazing! This was hands down one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The sauce to dip in was amazing, fries perfectly cooked! The other sandwich was the gyro. He said it was fantastic as well!!! Great prices, amazing food and service!!!

Hannah F.

Yelp
New to the area and stopped in to Carmines for a bite. The fried pickles are some of the best I've ever had- perfect ratio of pickle to breading. The Calzone/ Stromboli and the pizza were also great! The service was delightful and quick to accommodate our requests. Would highly recommend a visit!!

Sean S.

Yelp
Best pizza in the south. From a New Yorker. Staff is great. Feels like home. Great ambiance.

D. L.

Yelp
Good food, good service. I had pizza. My mother had a sandwich and my father got pasta. All of the plates were great.

Yosh S.

Yelp
Heard a lot about their pizza. Happy about the pizza but not the service. server was rude and very sarcastic with his comments. He needs to learn to be nice to customers. Every question was met with a rude reply. Tables were very sticky, not clean at all. Won't come again.

David R.

Yelp
Great pizza and atmosphere! Service was friendly and very good! Great service and pizza subs are good also

Cassidi R.

Yelp
We loved the food! It came quick and delicious!! Staff and ambience was awesome, very homey feeling. Big fan.

First L.

Yelp
Our go to place for deep dish awesome pizza Great service, old Italian family style pizza and pasta. Great beer and wine selection.

Aliya J.

Yelp
I love going here I love the food and the atmosphere is very nonchalant. Last time I had chicken Alfredo it was perfect but last time just needed a little salt, however over all very good. Our waitress was on point and so kind.

Nikki P.

Yelp
Love Carmine's! The pizza, the sandwiches, the zucchini fries!! Great local beers and one of the best service staff that you will ever encounter! We love to see Gordo when we are there! Great vibe!!

Typhanie B.

Yelp
The service and entrees here were so amazing. They are known for it all, paninis, Stromboli, Pizza pies, calzones, pastas, and so much more. I started with a Caesar salad, it was fresh, crisp, and the Parmesan to crouton ratio was perfect. I ordered the barbecue chicken deep dish pizza... ooh baby, it was flavorful, deep dish crust for days, cheesy, barbecuey (has me making up words) deliciousness. They have a great variety of desserts here, which is the main reason we pulled up. I was too full this round to try a dessert. I will order a slice of dessert next time I visit. To be continued, because the food here is really, really good!
