Tulum cuisine, craft cocktails, brunch, bottomless mimosas

"Brunch and bottomless mimosas are served every day the restaurant is open, starting at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. on weekends. Led in the kitchen by chef Nelly Terraza, expect dishes like empanadas stuffed with steak and Oaxaca cheese, steak and eggs topped with chimichurri, huevos divorciados, and shrimp and grits served with crispy polenta during brunch. The restaurant transitions to dinner and cocktails in the late afternoon." - Eater Staff

"After closing 10th and Piedmont and G’s Midtown, owner Gilbert Yeremian replaced both restaurants with Casa Almenara: Tulum Cuisine and Craft Bar. And it serves brunch and bottomless mimosas, Wednesday through Sunday, for $20 a person. Look for steak and eggs topped with chimichurri, huevos divorciados, and shrimp and grits served with crispy polenta during brunch here." - Beth McKibben
"It’s hard not to think of Katy Perry’s “Hot N Cold” bop while eating at Casa Almenara in Midtown. One minute we’re loving the spicy, fresh flavors of the jalapeño-sauced salmon tostada, and the next we’re disappointed by the bland aguachile ceviche. While the small plates had some tasty moments, most of the entrees can best be described as fine. Their updated and fashionable interior with trendy wicker lighting fixtures (every chic restaurant in town seems to be using the same damn lighting designer) is perfect to sip rather good cocktails like the fruity Cheesecake Martini. So basically the move here is to drink with friends and only order small plates like the tostadas or nachos. It’s important to know your strengths." - Juli Horsford

"Taking over the corner of 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue just beyond Midtown’s famed rainbow crosswalk, Casa Almenara—whose name means “beacon” in Spanish—is owner Gilbert Yeremian’s new neighborhood destination focused on Latin American dishes from Tulum and the Yucatán. Led in the kitchen by chef Nelly Terraza, I expect dishes such as empanadas stuffed with steak and Oaxaca cheese, al pastor wings, aguachile ceviche, a smoked tequila-cured salmon tostada, and a trio of tacos featuring tinga, shrimp, and birria at dinner; brunch offers steak and eggs topped with chimichurri, huevos divorciados, and shrimp and grits served with crispy polenta. It serves brunch and bottomless mimosas Wednesday through Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m., with brunch hours Wed–Fri 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sat–Sun 10 a.m.–5 p.m., dinner Wed–Sun from 4 p.m. until closing, weekly specials like a $12 taco trio and $9 margaritas on Wednesdays and $12 cocktails and enchiladas on Thursdays, and plans for a live entertainment series called Tulum Nights." - Beth McKibben

"Replacing the former 10th and Piedmont and G’s Midtown, I see Casa Almenara as a neighborhood destination for Latin American dishes centered on Tulum and Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula — Almenara meaning “beacon.” Owner Gilbert Yeremian describes it as a new chapter in his restaurant history, and the design will lean into lush coastal Tulum vibes with breezy neutral tones, reclaimed wood, and green plants throughout the dining room and bar. Expect brunch in the morning and early afternoon, followed by dinner and cocktails in the evening, plus a live entertainment series called Tulum Nights during dinner. Brunch: Wed–Fri 11:30 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sat–Sun 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Dinner: Wed–Sun from 4 p.m. until closing." - Beth McKibben
