Where to Find Portland’s Most Enticing Margaritas

"This longstanding Portland Mexican restaurant serves the kind of margaritas beloved by Tex-Mex aficionados: giant goblets — or even pitchers — of lime and tequila, with several choices of flavors and preparations. One of the finest on the menu is the jalapeño cucumber; the vegetal notes of the muddled cucumber and pepper temper the sweetness of the Cointreau and tequila. Wilder options include a Midori-spiked number and a tasty mangonada." - Alex Frane, Eater Staff

Ask Eater: Where Is the Best Tex-Mex in Portland, Oregon? - Eater Portland

"To me, Casa Colima is the go-to option for this vibe here. It has been open for almost 20 years, and it covers all of the bases: Chips and salsa at the start, queso, generous margaritas, fajitas you can hear as they approach the table, combination plates with choices like chimichangas and enchiladas. And yes, most dishes come with hefty servings of rice and beans — pinto unless stated otherwise." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

We had early dinner here one Sunday and the food and drinks were fantastic! Such reasonable prices. We ordered the three taco plate w/asada, beef enchiladas, and a strawberry Mezcalrita. The carne asada was some of the best I have had in a taco in a long time. Quick to seat and quick to serve. The chips were fresh and warm, and the salsa was delightful as well. Very cute decor inside, reminiscent of a casa style abode. This is a large space and has ample seating that would be great for two - or for a large party as well. Lots of parking and easy to find.

My daughter ordered a quesadilla plate and I ordered the caldo de siete mares. Siete mares has been a favorite of mine for decades, and this was the best I have ever had! Service was great. Premium margarita was perfect.

Everything was perfect. We went during a time when it wasn’t busy at all and we got the most wonderful service. The food was perfect. Everything was perfect. I have zero complaints. The shrimp cocktails were made exactly how we ordered them as just enough shrimp, and they were cooked perfectly, they were not over cooked. I hate when restaurants do that. Our strawberry margaritas were made perfectly, and our server was wonderful.

Overpriced mediocre Mexican food for overpaid boring white people. That's the neighborhood, and if that's you, you'll love this place Ordered a chicken enchilada and a birria burrito combo. The contents of each inside the tortilla was literally just meat. The ice and beans were on the side. Not even onion to break up the monotony of pure meat. The chicken was fine. The birria had the correct texture, but was so flavorless it literally went straight into the compost bin. Arrived covered in homemade red enchilada sauce and cheddar cheese. You can tell it was homemade sauce because the stuff you get from the store in a can has more spice. They should have used the canned stuff. The chips could have been good, but were completely unsalted. The salsa is like an upscale mild Pace. And was the closest thing to a vegetable I could identify in the entire dish, no onions or peppers were yo be found the enchiladas or burritos. And I'm pretty sure cilantro is too exotic for their client's tastes, none to be found in the salsa or the dishes. These food sins would be more forgivable if the food wasn't priced in the 15 to 30 a plate range.

Food was very delicious hubby and I got the taquitos dorados with birria 10/10, sister for the enchiladas a la crema she gave them a 9/10. We both had drinks a jalapeño margarita and a piña colada. Everything was fire with great customer service, the best customer service we received in Portland our whole trip. The restaurant is super cute I love the vibes! Will visit again when we come back.

Best service ever! I've been to over $150 per person dinners and they can't compare to the service here! I've been here 3 times and the service is amazing. Oh and the food and margaritas are delicious. Stop by and be impressed.

I went on a solo dinner date here and had a great time! Staff was warm and welcoming, atmosphere was great and had no problems. I ordered the enchiladas and not even 5 minutes, got my order! It was delicious! I also got the mango margarita mocktail! Will come again or get it delivered :)

I've been to Casa Colima several times over the past several years. The atmosphere is very fun, and the staff has always been very nice, which makes up for the fact that the quality of food is not particularly good. However, the last time I went, I ordered the veggie burrito from the vegetarian menu - I am vegetarian - and the server asked if I wanted to remove the rice, because it has chicken broth in it. I’ve never been told that before by other servers when I’ve ordered it. I’m not 100% sure that it was the previous servers who did not know that it had chicken in it, or if it was that particular server who is wrong that it does have chicken in in. (It’s fairly common for Mexican restaurant to put animal fat in their rice and beans.) So I flagged down the manager. Instead of checking in with the kitchen, he just asked our server about it in Spanish, and got the same answer from the server as we did (unsurprisingly). He didn’t even bother coming back to us to help straighten things out. On their website they have a contact form, and I’ve sent two inquiries to them, and they have not responded in weeks. If they’ve been serving a product with chicken in it for years on their vegetarian menu, that is *very very bad*, not just for vegetarians but for those with allergies. And it is also very very bad if the manager doesn’t know what’s in the food and doesn’t check, and it’s very bad if the servers (either that day’s server, or the past ones) also don’t know. And it is bad if they have a contact form on their website but don’t respond to those who send messages with it. I will never go there again, and I encourage others to think twice about any place that can’t tell you what’s in the food they serve.
