If you are looking for the laid-back energy of Tulum with the artistic pulse of Miami head out to Casa Madera in Wynwood.
From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by “everyone”. The restaurant itself instantly transports you to a beachside retreat. The aesthetic is stylish yet relaxed, with dim lighting and a chic, bohemian vibe that sets the tone for a memorable dining experience.
They have live music which enhances the relaxed vibe of the space. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind with friends over great food, sip cocktails, and not have to yell across the table to be heard.
They specialize in coastal Mexican gastronomy, with a menu that celebrates fresh, high-quality ingredients and bold flavors. The dishes are inspired by the culinary traditions of Tulum with locally sourced ingredients.
We had the Tuna Timbale and Mayan Hummus to start. The tuna was so fresh you could almost taste the salt water and the hummus was a big hit. My husband dislikes olives, so I didn’t tell him that what he was folding into the hummus was Olive tapenade. He liked it so much he spread it on everything he could, even his main course.
For our mains we had the Prime Black Angus Filet, Pistachio crusted Salmon, truffle fries and mushrooms. Everything was cooked to perfection amd the fries stole the show for me. They use use fresh truffle (not processed truffle oil) so you can actually taste the potato and have the hint of truffle.
Desert was their take on key lime pie. The presentation was very unique and the flavor rivals all Key Lime pies I’ve had before.
Our cocktails were a twist on gin and tonic and they were very smooth.
The service is warm and attentive. Despite the high-energy environment, the team maintains a level of professionalism that ensures diners feel well taken care of throughout the evening. Sebastian, one of the managers, made his way around the restaurant, always attentive, but never intrusive. He was knowledgeable of the menu and quick to offer recommendations. Jon our host (because server does not do him justice) was funny but not obnoxious and attentive, but not bothersome.
Casa Madera Wynwood is a must-visit spot for anyone seeking an immersive dining experience that combines exceptional coastal Mexican cuisine with a fun, laid-back ambiance. Whether you’re in the mood for a casual night out with friends or a special evening filled with flavor and live music, Casa Madera delivers on both fronts. It’s the perfect blend of Tulum vibes, Miami style, and mouthwatering gastronomy.
