I went to Catch & Cut on Las Olas recently to celebrate a friend's birthday. First time visiting. They did a very nice job on renovating the space and it was fairly busy for a Monday night, albeit not packed. We intentionally got there 30 minutes before our reservation time to check out the upstairs bar and have a pre-dinner cocktail.
Turned out, the main upstairs bar area to the left as you get to the top of the stairs was closed because they don't open it on Mondays, so we took a right and and hung out for a bit at the other bar area that was fairly busy with bar patrons and diners enjoying the Las Olas views. After downing a very refreshing cocktail called a "Sunny Day Crush", which consisted of Watermelon Infused Gray Whale Gin shaken with Aperitivo Select, Cucumber, Fresh Lemon Juice & Finished with Bubbles, we headed back downstairs for dinner.
Our server was very professional, knowledgeable, and personable, and overall the service was very good with just a couple minor quibbles. First, he never offered pepper for the salads my 2 friends ordered. Then, he totally forgot about my order of shrimp cocktail and didn't bring it to me until after we were done done with all our appetizers, and basically just served it with our entrees. And lastly, just a general cleanliness issue that wasn't our server's fault per se, but one of the glasses he gave us was dirty and had a funky stench to it.
Heres a rundown of all the food 3 of us ordered...
Appetizers:
* Bread was complimentary
* Jumbo Shrimp cocktail (honestly wasn't so jumbo)
* Caesar salad
* Chop Chop Salad
* Las Olas Sushi Roll
Entrees:
* 3 steaks - 1 Filet Mignon (8 oz.) and 2 NY Strips (14 oz.)
Sides:
* Balsamic Honey Glazed Brussel Sprouts
* Parsley Garlic Potatoes
* Grilled Asparagus
Dessert: Key Lime pie (deconstructed)
I have to say that the star of the show for me was my NY Strip, which was perfectly cooked medium and was without a doubt the leanest New York strip steak I've ever had in my life. The sushi roll that I had was also excellent. The sides were decent but nothing special.
The deconstructed Keylime pie was quite tasty. Including 4 total drinks (2 cocktails & 2 glasses of wine), the total tab before tip was $416, which averaged to about $138 per person. Would I go back? Probably, but not in a hurry. Though, I do want to go back when the upstairs main bar is open to check out the scene on the weekend.
