15 Classic Chinese Restaurants In LA's Chinatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"We don’t know why so many Chinese restaurants are named after American television networks, but that’s the last thing on our mind whenever we’re at CBS Seafood, a Chinatown favorite that for Cantonese roast meats and dim sum. There’s a window full of delicious Peking duck up front, followed by a busy to-go counter, followed by one of the grander dining rooms in town. It seats close to 200 people, complete with gleaming brass columns, turquoise chairs, and red tapestries on the wall. Come here on a Sunday morning, or really any morning, for a fantastic brunch—load up your table with shiny metal tins filled with fresh sticky rice, scallion dumplings, and braised bean curd." - kat hong

The Best Soup Dumplings In Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"In a white, nondescript building in Chinatown stamped in curly blue letters, you’ll find ABC Seafood, an extravagant Hong Kong-style restaurant serving dim sum, barbecued meats, and of course, seafood. It’s a place to bring hard-to-impress friends, or yourself, whenever you’re in need of dumplings. The golden order here ideally combines their best dim sum: shrimp har gow, a few baked BBQ pork buns, shumai wrapped in bright yellow paper, and soup dumplings. The dough is a bit thicker than that of other xiao long baos, but it’s the perfect addition to any picnic basket or brunch order." - kat hong

SGV’s Mama Lu’s Dumpling House Is Slinging Xiao Long Bao in Chinatown | Eater LA

"At 700 N. Spring Street in Chinatown, CBS Seafood—opened in 1999—has teamed up with Mama Lu’s Dumpling House to offer a more robust menu that mixes Mama Lu’s soup dumplings, beef rolls, spicy wontons, and scallion pancakes with CBS’s Cantonese hits and dim sum; the Chinatown stalwart has extended its hours to 8 a.m.–9 p.m. daily to accommodate an evening crowd amid a rapidly changing neighborhood." - Cathy Chaplin

CBS Seafood - Review - Chinatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"We don’t know why so many Chinese restaurants are named after American television networks (although to be fair, we also don’t fully understand how zippers work, so maybe that’s on us). But that’s the last thing on our mind whenever we’re at CBS Seafood, a Chinatown institution that, despite the name, specializes in BBQ meats and dim sum. There’s a window full of delicious, roasted Peking duck at the front, followed by a busy to-go counter, followed by one of the most opulent dining rooms in town. It seats close to 200 people, complete with gleaming brass columns, art deco turquoise chairs, and red tapestries on the wall. Come here on a Sunday morning, or any morning really, for a fantastic brunch—load up your table with shiny metal tins filled with fresh sticky rice, scallion dumplings, and braised bean curd. The Grub Street Diet of Linda Yvette Chávez and Marvin Lemus

"A longtime Chinatown dim sum haunt favored by a partner’s family, highlighted for pork shumai and BBQ pork buns and presented as a nostalgic, family-oriented reference point for introducing someone to dim sum." - Chris Crowley

Open early in the morning for breakfast. In Chinatown, an easy 5-8 minute walk from Union Station where we had a 1.5 layover. Not enough time to do the sit down dim sum cart breakfast, but plenty of time to order takeout and get back to the station. The pork steamed bun was the best I’ve ever had. The filling was a slightly sweet smoky pork.

I don't believe I have anything bad to say about CBS Seafood Restaurant. Visiting Los Angeles and thought this would be the perfect place to go. The price per items were very good compared to other places I have visited in my home town. I ordered (2) Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Egg Rolls, Orange Chicken, Shrimp and Leek Dumplings, Beef Noodle, and Fried Shrimp Rolls. ALL the food that was ordered is delicious. The services was fast. Staff members were very kind and friends. Food was hot and fresh. I have provided pictures of most of the items I ordered. If anyone is in the area, would recommend stopping here. Great food at great prices.

We had Dim Sum on a Sunday at 9:30am. We were seated immediately. We received our dim sum very quickly. We enjoyed the the the large baked bbq pork buns the most. Freshly made still warm and the buns were soft. Not the best dim sum but good enough.

Great dim sum place in downtown LA. Service was fast and food was hot and steamy. We ordered a little too much for two people but it was worth it :) They have a menu to order from but also traditional push carts.

Went here today. Service was slow Requested chili sauce but did not arrive. Requested for oranges and fortune cookies but waiter said only for families. But our group has 5 people. We ordered worth $69 and they denied our request. I gave 1 star for this experience. We have been eating here before but i cannot make a pass on this experience hence 1 star. I'm not even so sure if they made the correct bill for all our orders.

CBS is now Mama Lu's and part of a chain of restaurants. The Har Gow was much too oily. The shrimp with leeks lacked flavor. It was insipid. The service was awful because it is under staffed. This used to be one of my favorite dim sum eateries Chinatown. Following a long absence, I hoped to reexperience some of their delicious offerings. It was disappointing. I will revisit in the future to see if they improve. Hopefully they will train or hire better chefs and more servers.

Ok to decent dim sum at a fair price. The service was incredibly fast, the tea was nice and hot, and the different dumplings were mostly alright. Honestly for its price I think its pretty fair, but just don't expect to be blown away by any of the food.
