"Chef Luke Kolpin went from working nine years in the kitchen at Copenhagen’s legendary Noma to appearing on Top Chef; then, he landed in Kenmore in 2023 to helm the Lodge at Saint Edward State Park’s flagship restaurant. It was a huge get for Cedar + Elm, and if you’re looking to see what Kolpin has been doing over here, Christmas Eve is as good a time as any: Cedar + Elm is showcasing a $125 tasting menu with an optional wine pairing. (The menu isn’t online, but expect an exacting approach to seasonal PNW offerings.) To book, go here." - Mark DeJoy, Eater Staff

"Earlier this year, the restaurant inside the Lodge at Saint Edward State Park got a shot in the arm when Top Chef contestant and Noma alum Luke Kolpin took it over. If you’re looking to see what he’s done with the place, Christmas Eve is as good a time as any: Cedar + Elm is offering a $125 prix fixe menu with an optional wine pairing. First time, but we will be back. Gorgeous settling in the woods of this old monetary. Inside is nicely decorated but outside views are unmatched. Be sure to visit in the daylight to really take advantage of the views. Food portions seem a little on the small side and minimal plating for the price but the meal was very fresh and tasty. I would think add potatoes or fresh fruit or something.

Great location. We were enjoying the lovely view while seated outside under the umbrellas on the patio. The location was wonderful and dog-friendly. We had a light brunch, cool drinks, and a farmer's fruit basket in addition to breakfast. Cold basil rose mocha was good but I didn’t take a picture.

Perfect for a Sunday Brunch. Do make the reservation, even on a rainy day it was completely packed. The space is truly beautiful, tall arched windows overlooking St Edward State Park, quiet, pleasant interior. Service was a bit slow, but what's the hurry? We had time to enjoy the conversation and the view. The food was quite delicious, very good quality produce. I enjoyed my Smoked salmon sandwich, I'd say it even had a little too much salmon on it, so it was very rich, decadent. The Wague brunch burger was huge and juicy. And absolutely delicious fries. Good coffee. BRUCH DRESS CODE: Everyone was dressed very casually, since most people come straight from a hike. PARKING: Valet parking is available as well as a regular paid parking lot. Don't be confused by the "Park pass needed" signs, day pass and parking payment is the same thing, just use any pay station and keep the ticket on your dash.

The food is a bit overpriced but the view, location, and environment is great! The ginger and turmeric tea is great! Worth going, as least for once. It is located in the Edward state park and a few hiking trails around the area. The building is also a historic site with art pieces that you can tour on your own! Nice experience! Highly recommend at least for once.

3.5 The building is beautiful, and the space is really nice. The flatbread and wine was good, but the fish dish I ordered was fishier than expected + not the greatest texture. I’ve heard brunch here is good, so would consider returning for that.

**Cedar + Elm: A Culinary Gem at the Heart of St. Edward’s Lodge** My recent dining experience at Cedar + Elm was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to the culinary genius of Executive Chef Luke Kolpin. The moment you step into this warm and inviting restaurant, you know you're in for a treat. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, making it ideal for any occasion. Our meal started off with Chef Kolpin’s bread with drippings. This seemingly simple dish is elevated to new heights with perfectly baked bread accompanied by rich, savory drippings that left us craving more. Each bite was a testament to Chef Kolpin's meticulous attention to detail and his passion for creating unforgettable flavors. Every course that followed shared the same depth and complexity, leaving our whole table with no words. Complementing the food, the expertly crafted cocktails are not to be missed. The bartenders at Cedar + Elm have mastered the art of mixology, delivering drinks that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Each sip was an adventure, with flavors that danced on the palate and perfectly paired with our meal. For wine enthusiasts, the winemakers dinners featuring Pacific Northwest wineries are a must-attend. These events are not only a delight for the taste buds but also offer a fun and educational experience. It’s a rare opportunity to savor exceptional wines while learning about the craft from the winemakers themselves. The synergy between the wine and the food created a harmonious experience that was truly memorable. If you're planning a romantic night out or a getaway, the Lodge at St. Edward’s is an exceptional choice. The cozy rooms provide a perfect retreat after a night of indulgence at Cedar + Elm. The lodge offers more than just delicious food and beverages; it also boasts an on-site spa for relaxation and rejuvenation. The historic grounds provide ample space to roam freely, adding to the lodge’s charm and making it an ideal destination for both relaxation and adventure. In summary, Cedar + Elm at the Lodge at St. Edward’s offers an unparalleled dining experience. From Chef Luke Kolpin’s extraordinary dishes to the expertly crafted cocktails and the exciting winemakers dinners, every element comes together to create a perfect culinary journey. Whether you're dining in or staying overnight, this gem is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Great service, food, and atmosphere. Had brunch and gelato outside on a nice quiet Sunday early afternoon. Look forward to going back for lunch and or dinner!

Lovely brunch. The space is beautiful, service was good (they were very prompt on water refills), and the food was good. I wouldn’t say it blew us away, but it was all very good and I would still recommend eating here. My partner got the burger and fries and while the burger was good, he said the fries were amazing. My congee was also very yummy. Ask to omit the fresh chilies if you can’t handle spice, but I loved them. I didn’t love my cocktail (pine frost fizz) and ginger latte, but I was taking a bit of a chance on the flavors to be fair. Cocktail cost almost as much as my meal, so I think the price would’ve been decent until I added that on. I thought the price for each entree was reasonable. Nice to be able to go for a walk in the park before or after the meal, and explore the grounds and artwork displays.

Yelp
Wow, what a hidden gem tucked away in Kenmore! Our group was easily able to make a reservation for Friday night for a party of 8 within a week. We drove up to free valet parking and stepped into the modern, beautifully decorated, intimate space that is Cedar + Elm. We were promptly seated, and while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, ordered drinks and perused the menu. We shared a couple orders of the flatbread with the Danish butter and 'dirty dip,' which was like a balsamic vinaigrette. The bread was airy and had some sort of gooey cheese in the middle. The serving size was rather small for the price, two orders was basically enough for each person to have a couple bites, but we subsequently filled up with dinner and dessert. I appreciated the relatively small menu that was pretty much limited to one option of each protein (fish, chicken, beef, pork) and a vegetarian option. Most of us had selected our entrees when our waitress Jillian (who was absolutely lovely) came by to tell us the specials, which included a crispy pork belly that captured the intrigue of nearly all the men at our table I enjoyed the hearth-roasted sablefish with mushrooms and charred cabbage and savored every bite from beginning to end. The fish was flaky, moist, melted in the mouth, and contrasted in texture to the chew of the mushrooms. Salty, creamy, herby, citrusy - this dish had it all. My husband devoured his crispy pork belly, which, to our surprise, was accompanied by some red grapes that sat in a citrusy Asian-inspired fish sauce. Never having encountered such a pairing before, we were pleasantly surprised to find the flavors harmonizing so well together! For dessert, we had a chocolate tart with pistachio and a profiterole with ice cream (I want to say it was a brown butter or almond butter ice cream). Our friends also ordered the honey crème brûlée. We passed around our desserts so everyone could try each, but the favorite among the table was the profiterole. It was "not too sweet," but also had elements of surprise, like bits of sour mango and cherry gelée. Days after our dinner, my friends and I are still raving about our dining experience at Cedar + Elm. We were able to enjoy our meal and each other's company at leisure, without ever once feeling rushed to leave. Wonderful ambiance, very attentive, kind, and delightful service, and delicious food presented beautifully and thoughtfully. It's rare to find such a high quality dining experience without having to drive into the city, and even then, the quality of the service is often lacking. We will definitely be returning to try the restaurant's other offerings. Thank you for a memorable meal!

Yelp
This was the best fine dining experience that I've had in some time. Service was outstanding and food was delicious! Flavors were well balanced on most of the dishes. We had a large group of 8. Although this is a large space, we were still able to hear each other. We were started off with complimentary bread that had focaccia like texture and buttery garlicky topping. Served with delicious dipping oil and vinegar and also butter. Most men ordered the pork belly special and everyone loved it. Im told that the grapes and Spicy acidic sauce balanced the dish very well. Pork was crispy on the outside and the acidity of the sauce went well with the fatty bits. Most of the ladies ordered the sablefish including myself. So perfectly cooked, flaky and melts in your mouth. Not too fishy. Under the fish were some yummy little mushrooms and on top was charred cabbage. The only addition that would have made this dish more elevated for me is some crunchy topping. The cabbage crunch was not it. Disclaimer: creme brûlée snob over here! The honey creme brûlée was perfect! Apparently they use their own honey from their backyard. It had a very lovely honey flavor which is not something I ever tried in a creme brûlée. The sugar topping was perfectly thin. And the creme itself was smooth and light in texture....yess, the way it's supposed to be. The only part that didn't make sense was the pickled blueberries. Thankfully they were served separately, easy enough to omit! Second best dessert was the profiterole. I only tried a bite but wow I would definitely return for that. So many flavors and textures to uncover...nom nom! The chocolate tart looked beautiful but was soo rich, not for me! I would definitely return for more!

Yelp
TL;DR: Nordic-inspired dishes didn't disappoint. Top tier service. Elegant and refined dining room. Perfect date night out, business meal, or celebrating an occasion with a large group. Wow. The low rating of Cedar + Elm does not reflect the amazing experience we had for dinner here in 10/2024. The chef trained at a Nordic restaurant in Denmark. The inspiration and precision shows in the complementary but unique flavors of the well-cooked dishes. The flatbread was very rich with flavor soaked into the soft insides of the flatbread, but it was offset by the crispness of the flatbread crust. The salads were both light but very flavorful. The sablefish was cooked perfectly and paired well with the mushroom and cabbage. The mushroom Agnolotti had chewy and firm texture, and the mushroom filling was very tasty. Lastly, the seasonal crème brûlée balanced the sweetness augmented with vanilla bean with the tartness of local blueberries. The service was top notch. The water was always filled. The empty dishes were always removed including the utensils, with new settings for each course. The server was knowledgeable, personable, and punctual. I highly recommend coming here for dinner. It's well worth the $$$ ($100 for 2 apps, 2 mains, and 1 dessert; for 2 people). While the portion sizes aren't like the Cheesecake Factory, it is more than enough food that has an amazing taste, competing by great service.

Yelp
Such a beautiful restaurant, we sat outside and the weather was perfect. Only downside is your coffee gets cold pretty quick- which is only expected when you sit outdoors anywhere. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Reservations are recommended as they get pretty busy especially during the weekends. I ordered the smoked salmon sandwich and they did Not go light on the salmon! Coffee was amazing as always. Excited to come back and explore more of the menu!

Yelp
The lunch menu is much smaller than it used to be. I wish all the food was as good as the brussels sprouts. They were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Loved their flavor and texture. The beets were too one note and needed more seasoning. The biggest disappointment was the steak salad. The steak was cooked as ordered (med). I would guess it had no seasoning at all. It was sliced and spread over the salad, which I didn't understand as plating until I realized there was nothing else of interest on the plate. A shredded bed of romaine overly dressed with vinaigrette. You could taste nothing else. I think there may have been a couple little pieces of marinated shallot and a couple small, soft pieces of carrot. Not even the tiny sprinkle of blue cheese was enough to bring flavor. I expected something more interesting, and certainly better seasoned, for a $23 lunch steak salad.

Yelp
Met two friends for dinner yesterday at this newish place. Driving into the state park I was wondering: do I need my Discover Pass to park? Not to worry, follow the signs for valet parking (free, though don't forget to tip your valet). The friendly valet pointed me to the entrance to the hotel (not obvious as it's an old seminary building). I was early for our reservation so dropped into the adjacent bar where they had happy hour going on. I ordered their HH white wine, which was a tasty Côtes du Rhône white and a good deal at $8. The HH menu looked tasty but I had to wait for our reservation.... Once the first of my friends arrived, we were quickly seated for an early dinner. As we were three, we ended up in this great table that had a love seat for two facing into the dining room. We ended up ordering everything to share which the staff accommodated nicely. Starters were the filet mignon tartar, crab salad and bread; mains included the sablefish and gnudi. All were very well executed and delicious; the seafood dishes were especially good. I was driving so ended up having mocktails with dinner--the Dewberry Drought was tasty. If I had one thing to ding the restaurant on, it'd be that food came out slowly. Not that I ever want to be rushed, but this seemed really slow, especially since the restaurant was not full. However, our server was very attentive and was following up with us frequently to ensure we had what we needed; it was more that the kitchen was a little slow. All in all it was a pleasant experience and I would return.

Yelp
Me and my girls were there for a bachelorette party and it took 3 hours for us to get our entrees.

Yelp
Brunch at Cedar + Elm and a walk around St. Edwards is one of my favorite ways to spend a free day. Some of our favorites is the french toast, smoked salmon sandwich, and granola parfait. My favorite cocktail from here is the King Louie. I love the interior with the rattan and the green velvet. Something about it makes me happy. I also enjoy talking to Roberto who is one of the servers here. I like hearing about his family and his stories make me feel more connected to this place and the community.

Diane S.

Yelp
I was there for the Sunday brunch and had the best smoked salmon sandwich! I often order smoked salmon sandwiches at the various restaurants but I must say, this one was the best one I have ever had. The salmon was a good quality but I think what made it amazing was their bread. It was flaky bread which melts in your mouth!

Yelp
2nd time here. I really want this place to succeed, but it's a struggle to see how they'll get repeat local customers.... The prices are on the level of El Gaucho, Sea Star and similar, and the quality of the food is close. Yet, there are no sides available other than what's shown. And they're weird on the menu with your entrée (a small wedge of Romaine with some kind of broccoli on top with an avocado/guacamole sauce next to Wagyu steak?). However, the level of service has the vibe of servers who are in training and don't have someone to help them up their game. The atmosphere is like a dining hall (because it used to be one for the seminary; I get it) but you'd think at this price point they could have staff with a more professional level of attentiveness and a manner which is more than "Have you guys made up your mind yet?" The worst of it is the mandatory 20% service charge for 6 or more for Applebee's service. Actually no, the worst is another 3% for the "behind the scenes" staff. I won't be back. I'm sorry. I really want them to succeed.

Yelp
I feel bad that the reviews are stuck from a previous chef... Chef Kolpin (Top Chef Competitor!) recently took over and I am here to tell you the food is absolutely INCREDIBLE! My husband and I splurge on great food around Seattle often and this was honestly the best meal we have had in over a year, if not longer. We had the flatbread with dirty dip, crab salad, gnudi, pork special, and finished with the Olive oil cake. All epic, we can't wait to come back for the wine dinner or one of the chef counter nights.

Kristin P.

Yelp
Great flavors, attentive service and gorgeous atmosphere! Loved the cocktails and mocktails too. Will defin be back!

Yelp
Decent brunch spot at St. Edwards, but too expensive to justify going regularly. The dining room is very nice and bright, and I appreciated getting a table by the window to look out over the grounds. I had the pork hash which had nice chunks of pork with lots of veggies, and it tasted pretty good. But the portion size is tiny for $21. My wife had the salmon frittata which came with lots of greens and a delicious potato waffle, and that seemed a better deal for $19. But with the others in our group we had a four person brunch cost over $100 with a few iced teas. Just seems overpriced for what you get. They have valet parking which I think is free for the restaurant, otherwise parking yourself is a challenge as you compete with all the park visitors.

A. W.

Yelp
I have been to afternoon tea everywhere Washington state offers it. This is the first place I've ever been where you don't actually get to brew your tea. Certainly not a pot. They bring you a small strainer of tea you put on your teacup (???) and then you pour hot water over it. This is... an interesting take on tea. Some places don't give you a pot, but they do give you an infuser of tea, which isn't my favorite but at least the tea gets a chance to brew. The food for afternoon tea is good, but hurried. You can tell that speed and quantity is most important. For the price? Meh. Save up a little more and go to the Fairmont.

Yelp
First time trying cedar and elm, and absolutely love the vibe! I hadn't realized this restaurant was inside the lodge at st Edward state park until driving there. It's so beautiful as you turn into the lush green park! Parking is a little weird as you need a discover pass or to valet at the hotel, which was a little confusing at first. Valet is complimentary however, and I was glad the guys working accepted venmo for tips as I wasn't prepared. You head inside the hotel and to the right to find the restaurant. They have a cute gift shop and beautiful artwork on display to enjoy. The restaurant decor is adorable... a more upscale feel while also being cozy (love all the plants). They have a nice coffee menu. Tried their eggs Benny for brunch which came on a nice biscuit with an onion jam. Would have liked a little potato or fruit salad, and my poached eggs had water in them, my only complaints. In all, the food was delicious and we enjoyed our visit. The grounds are beautiful, I would love to come back in summer and enjoy some time on their patio, or even go for a little walk around the park after.

Scott N.

Yelp
Very charming place with great ambience. A little bit of an Overlook vibe, but in a good way. Oysters were spectacular! Flatbread is good, get it with the 'dirty dip'. I had the short rib which was also very good. Usually I find short ribs to be over cooked and dry but this was simultaneously flaky and moist with good smoked flavor.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance. Quiet and peaceful surroundings with impeccable service. The restaurant is hidden and offers complimentary valid parking. Great place for a date or nicer dinner.

Yelp
Let's get down to business with the food 1st try : Brunch Salmon Frittata| solid dish would order again the potato waffle was crispy and the frittata itself was beautiful light and fluffy Chicken and waffle | skip, the chicken was over cooked and I didn't like the flavor combo 2nd try : Lunch Fish and Chips | Yummy love the vinegar fries, fish well cooked Chips and dip | Nothing special id skip next time Creme Brûlée | Decent, not a huge fan of honey but if you are you're gonna love it We also had some boozy coffee YUM!! Service was great the people are lovely but the second time was a little amiss but hey everyone has off days Beautiful place and beautiful scenery which will keep me coming back, let's just hope I discover more dishes as we try something else

Autumn S.

Yelp
We have eaten here several times. The food had been adequate. Once Chef Kolpin took over, the food went to an entirely new level. His food is simple and incredibly flavorful. Do not miss the flatbread with dirty dip. It is amazing. The handmade ricotta gnudi are also not to be missed. Service is always wonderful. When we've disclosed that we're coming for a special occasion, they go out of their way to ensure that they recognize the reason we're coming. We celebrated our anniversary there a few weeks ago and we were welcomed with champagne. Our family would highly recommend Cedar + Elm. It's not only located in a beautiful area, it also offers incredible food.

Ree C.

Yelp
I hate to post two stars but my boyfriend and I tried the afternoon tea service and we were not impressed. Let me start out by saying that I love this restaurant, we've had dinner there before and the food was outstanding. I also want to say that our afternoon tea server was amazing and the ambiance was magical. This review is mainly for the food. The starter drink is some sort of oat milk concoction that has a weird taste/texture. The tea sandwiches were actually tea toast and there wasn't one that we liked. I understand stepping outside of the box and trying new things but it didn't hit the mark on this one. There's a flaxseed raisin crumpet that didn't seem to fit with the menu. A berry scone with clotted cream would've been a better addition. The other desserts seemed thrown together as well. Nothing stood out as super fresh or really tasty. We enjoyed the tea and the champagne. We were disappointed because we were expecting more and for what you pay, it just didn't seem worth it. I've been to a lot of tea services and I think C & E can improve their afternoon tea service menu greatly. If they do, I would give it another try.

David L.

Yelp
A beautiful restaurant located on the ground floor of the hotel. There is a patio where you can eat outside and enjoy the view as well. A perfect spot to hit up after strolling around the St. Edwards state park. There is a bar right outside the restaurant where you can also grab drinks. Food The waffle and fried chicken was very good. The waffle was fluffy and the syrup was sweet and complimented it well. The chicken was tender but wasn't super crispy on the outside. I only had a tiny bit of the salmon frittata, but the smoked salmon was delicious. The waffle tasted like potato and was pretty interesting. I wish I ate it with regular ketchup. Atmosphere The interior of the restaurant is nice and upscale. When I went, I think that there was going to be a reception for a wedding. There is a nice view of the St. Edwards state park and field. It's very peaceful. Pricing The prices are about what I would expect for brunch. The quantity was a little bit smaller than what I might get from other places though. Service  The service was mediocre at the bar area. My family was seated at the bar because the regular restaurant seating area was reserved for a large party. I had to get up to the bar for service for anything like ordering or paying. I'm sure the service would've been better if seated in the restaurant. Other Plenty of parking around the hotel and park. There is seating indoors and outdoors. A great spot to swing by after walking around the state park.

Cathy G.

Yelp
Afternoon Tea at Cedar and Elm, located in the Lodge at St.Edward State Park is divine! Food is delicious and plentiful and the teas are great. I love the atmosphere inside the restaurant. It's bright, airy, and beautiful. The perfect space for afternoon tea to celebrate a friend's birthday. There was an acoustic guitar duo performing the day we were there and they were fantastic. There were probably 8 other tables of afternoon tea patrons when we came on a Friday afternoon. Cedar & Elm only offers afternoon tea on Thursdays and Fridays from 2:30-4:30pm and you have to make a reservation ahead of time on Open Table and prepay. The food was already on the table when we were seated, which was kind of nice. In addition to the sweet and savory food items, and tea, the table was also set with a gorgeous lavender and pineapple drink. Service was friendly and excellent. Everything we ate and drank was divine. I will definitely be going back for afternoon tea at Cedar & Elm. It's spendy but a delightful and worthwhile splurge. Probably the best afternoon tea experience I've had in and around Seattle. Highly recommend. If you enjoy afternoon tea, this one is not to be missed!

Michael G.

Yelp
This place has great potential, but unfortunately the service level is very mediocre and the choices that you get for the menu are quite limited. It's a fantastic location, beautiful restaurant rooms, great views. But an unnecessary issue is, TIPFLATION. Guys this is not Seattle! Why add a 3% charged to your food price? Pls just add a dollar to the prices instead. It's irritating to have the bill presented to you and then see four or five dollars added for "culinary" experience I mean, I don't care how you run your restaurant. Are you gonna also charge me for yr electricity bill or washing the tablecloth!? I don't care about yr cost breakdown -- just give me the price I'm going to pay and don't nickel and dime me at the end of the meal. Very very annoying!! NOT going back!

Erica P.

Yelp
Came to Cedar + Elm for brunch with friends this past Saturday. I really liked the whole vibe of the restaurant; light, airy, and low-key glam with friendly and attentive staff. The brunch menu offered the standards with a twist: we ordered benedict lorraine, everything-spiced smoked salmon frittata, & roasted Berkshire pork hash. Everything was cooked perfectly. The poached eggs produced the requisite golden yolks as did the sunny side up eggs on top of the hash. The diced potatoes and squash in the hash were firm but not toothy, and the frittata had a wonderful texture. The overarching issue was that everything was incredibly bland. The hash was badly in need of salt, and according to my friend, the hollandaise was "just there". The frittata was carried by the smoked salmon and seemed to be the winner of the morning.

Christina C.

Yelp
I really love the place, the park, hotel, territory. After walk to the water and hiking back we got hungry and decided to stop by bar. cedar elm main dining was only per reservation but bar was available. We took 2 sparkling champagne and appetizers. Unfortunately food was very bad. The beef tartare didn't had any spices, meat tasted bland. But worst is that it came on top with mayonnaise this is the worst tartare I ever tried in my life. The presentation of plate look depressing, there were many picked items but it would be better if they would stick to classic tartare. Also salmon flatbread was very bland. We paid $100 for this 2 app and 2 glasses of champagne. Left extremely disappointing because this food is way overpriced.

Steve L.

Yelp
Just not that great food, especially for the price point. The kale salad was really good, and so was the bread, but entrees weren't good

Peggy H.

Yelp
Beautiful ambience and great service. The downfall was that we went on Father's Day and unfortunately the food was served lukewarm/cold. I think they were struggling to keep up. The Benedict's we ordered were served lukewarm. They would have been out of this world if served warm. The mushroom frittata dish was not only served cold but it was bland and the carmalized onions and cheddar that were described in the dish was non existent. It was a big disappointment. We will go again when it's not during a holiday. We would give 5 stars for ambience and service and 3 1/2 for food.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Couldn't resist coming back for long! We came and enjoyed some brunch yesterday. We made a reservation ahead of time-always good to do so we can expect a spot. We got to sit in a lovely booth that faced the window. It was nice for both of us to have a nice view. We enjoyed: Butterflies & Hurricanes: this was a neat, grapefruit tequila delight. The pea flower made a sweet aftertaste. The color is gorgeous. Sanctum Solis: the chamomile is very strong here! This is a good cocktail for a tea lover. Everything-Spiced Smoked Salmon Frittata: the best dish I have had here so far. The crème fraiche was very dill forward, and the potato waffle was the most elegant hashbrown I have ever seen. I asked for my hot sauce when I ordered-so worth it. Their in house hot sauce is wonderful. They should consider bottling it. Roasted Berkshire Pork Hash: this was very well done. The veggies were fresh, and the pork was wonderfully flavored through. The service was wonderful-their staff is so nice, friendly and accommodating. We loved their ambiance-they made us feel so welcome and pampered.

Yelp
We had reserved this restaurant for a wedding rehearsal dinner. We were a party of 20 and gave a courtesy call when we were running behind. On getting there the lady on staff who attended to us was extremely rude about seating arrangements even when we asked about adjoining tables (see picture for reference). She insisted that they could not accomodate and sat half of the table in the opposite end of the room. As disappointing as that was, her attitude was rather appalling. We tried to speak to the manager about the seating arrangement and the staff's attitude but did not get a satisfactory response, apology or attempt to accomodate even after we told him we were celebrating a wedding. He said they don't take reservations for large parties so that the kitchen staff can work efficiently (I later found out that the 2 reservations were made at once). This still did not address the fact that half of us were across the room and not even within sight of each other. Very disappointing when all around us were empty tables. This was the case till we left. Many empty tables and opportunities to sit us closer together. Food: I was hoping the food would compensate for the terrible first impression. It took almost an hour for our food to arrive and when it did, no apology for the delay. By the way, the restaurant was not busy and this was a Saturday night. I ordered the halibut and was disappointed by the taste and overall plate for the price. Only the people who got the steak seemed to enjoy it. We were not pleased with our meals and service overall. It is such a shame that a restaurant at such a gorgeous location can provide such horrible service. Hands down my worst restaurant experience. What was supposed to be a lovely family dinner was ruined and we will not forget in a hurry. I DO NOT recommend this place and will never come back.

Yelp
A beautiful venue with a fascinating history. The perfect place for you and your friends to gossip about who isn't in your immediate presence and to sip on various caffeinated beverages. The food is unfortunately bland and forgettable, like so many of the men in my past. But you will be met with cheer and enthusiasm at every station of this restaurant, and enjoy taking pictures of the green velvet.

Yelp
Wonderful dinner last night from beginning to end. The dining room is tastefully decorated, the service was completely on point, and the food was absolutely excellent. We highly recommend!

Yelp
This restaurant is located within the Lodge Hotel, which itself is located within the grounds of St. Edwards State Park. Parking is free with Discovery Pass. Alternatively, there is free valet service, but it is expected that you will tip. The atmosphere surrounding the restaurant is wonderful. The historic seminary building is gorgeous and the grounds offer plenty of hiking trails and photo opportunities. A 15 minutes hike takes you to the waterfront. The restaurant service is great as well. We were seated promptly and the waitress took our order within a reasonable amount of time. The food came out after another 15 minutes wait. We ordered the pork belly and rib tips (beef). For the price, I found the food to be mediocre. The meats were over seasoned and soaking its own grease. It would have been nice to have some rice or potatoes to go along with the protein, but no, it was literally a piece of meat with one tiny vegetable leaf on top or to the side. There was very little vegetable that accompanied the main course, so we had to order a separate appetizer salad for $12. The portions for everything were really small, about half the size of other similar restaurants, but the prices were well over $30 per item. Also, there was an unexpected "culinary charge" added to the bill, which was kind of off-putting. I would like to know of these charges prior to seeing the bill.

Yelp
It's ahead of the game simply by the location. St. Edwards Park. The Lodge. Beautiful. The service is great. We've been there for brunch and lunch. Surprisingly, there were a lot of open tables. I'm sure this changes during Happy Hours. The food is excellent. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food and the great ambience.

Yelp
My husband and I had brunch before checking in to the Lodge. I recommend The fried chicken sandwich. It's prepared with a boneless chicken thighs and twice fried. The bun was soft, the pickles were a great compliment to the aoli. The twice fried French fries were addicting My husband had perfectly poached eggs and delicious thick sliced bacon. The sourdough bread did not disappoint. It had a great chew and was the perfect vehicle for the yummy raspberry jam. We are looking forward to dinner tonight The Americano was aromatic and smooth. No cream needed Our server Anthony was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Brunch was a great start for our stay at The Lodge

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem. On a cold Sunday morning, brunch here made us feel like we were on vacation near the beach. With the high ceilings and refined decor, the dining room at cedar and elm is a welcomed escape from our regular spots on the east side. The congee was delicious, and my chicken and waffles has me arguing with myself whether it deserves my #1 pick or my #2...in all of the chicken and waffles I've ever had. The green juice and sea salt maple cinnamon latte were also well executed. Overall, we're so glad we eventually checked this place out, because we'll certainly be back for more.

Yelp
My aunt came from out of town and wanted to treat us to a nice dinner, so we tried out Cedar + Elm on a Friday night! We were able to secure a reservation a couple of days before, but I definitely suggest getting one earlier to secure the time of your choice. The service was great, we got a booth that was right behind a big plant, not that great of a view, but I'm assuming that was because we went at a "fancy date night" time and we had a toddler with us . The place is amazing, it used to be a seminary, I definitely suggest getting there early and exploring the grounds. And if you have toddlers like us, there's a great playground right there where they can get their wiggles out before dinner. The food was great! We tried the pork chop, the trout and the filet mignon. They were all epic. And the toddler was great just sampling a bit off our plates and the bread service. Definitely a nice dinner/date night atmosphere and I'm sure if there are only adults in your party you'd get a way better table haha.

Yelp
Mom came here with a couple of girlfriends and really liked it, so she wanted to bring me, K, and dad here for lunch. It's located at the lodge, inside of St. Edwards park in Kenmore. It's a beautiful restaurant space. I do appreciate a smaller menu (easier to choose from and expectations is that the food should be executed better - in my opinion), but it was slightly lacking for me. We started off great with honey glazed Washington ribs. They were five pieces of pork ribs, cooked well and crispy with a tasty glaze. for our mains, me, k, and dad all ordered the (American wagyu) burger and mom got the grilled bavette steak salad, well done. All the burgers were ordered medium, but they came out more medium well. Which is fine, but there was something about the texture of the burger that threw me off. It was almost, mealy (?) if that's the right way to describe it. It could have been the grind on the meat or the meat mixture that was giving me that texture. I'm not sure if this kind of burger would have been better if it was well done? But I wouldn't get it again. The saving grace was the fries. They were so good! The potatoes seemed to be in some kind of light coating that kept the fries nice and crispy, crunchy and addicting. As for the steak salad, mom really enjoyed it. The steak was ordered well done (she is immunocompromised and is not supposed to eat any meats raw or uncooked egg yolks, etc), and the steak was unevenly cooked. Some of it was medium well and part of it was medium rare. As it was not busy at all in the restaurant, I expected a better care of the cook of our meals. Our server was attentive and great. They offer complimentary valet (otherwise if you self-park, you will have to pay. Unless you have a discovery pass). Due to yelp being yelp, I gave this place a 3, but it's more a 3.5. I'm willing to give this place another shot.

Yelp
We had thanksgiving dinner at Cedar + Elm and it was a great experience. It was our first time eating out for Thanksgiving. It was a little pricey, $65/adult but food was amazing and full of flavor. The turkey was one of the best I've ever had. It was fire roasted so the skin was crispy and super flavorful. The turkey was moist and gave plenty. They provided traditional sides but they were cooked to perfection, even my husband liked the cranberries and he usually hates them. Dessert provided was great, we just didn't like the sweet potato pie. It was so bland. The apple crisp was amazing. Overall, I would come here again for Thanksgiving!

Yelp
We had dinner here a few weeks ago and loved the setting of the lodge in St. Edwards Park. The grounds and old seminary are lovely and the restaurant follows suit! While we waited for them to open for dinner we grabbed craft cocktails in the lounge outside which were fantastic and had a pretty solid happy hour. Once they opened the restaurant we were seated right away for our reservation time and got a little booth with a window view. The restaurant is really stunning with its ultra white walls, pops of green, and dramatic lighting. Our server was friendly and helpful when ordering gluten free. They don't have any gf products like bread or pasta, but they can make substitutions to alter menu items to be gf. The husband of mine couldn't resist the crab fritters which he loved and I enjoyed the tomato and burrata salad. For our mains, he had the halibut which was perfectly cooked and I splurged on the scallops which were divine. They only had a couple gf dessert options so we went with the pot de creme but were a little disappointed as it didn't have much flavor even though there were a lot of components. As a whole we had a great time, loved the ambiance, and enjoyed some excellent service. We look forward to dining again

Yelp
We arrived here for brunch around 10:30am on a Sunday and to my surprise, we were seated immediately, but I recommend calling ahead to make sure about their wait time. According to local yelpers, this is a popular brunch spot on this strip, so I was super happy that we got a table right away. I was confused about the parking lot, but they have a complimentary valet parking in front of hotel round about. From Yelp photos, we chose the house potato and scrambled egg and French toast with berries. I loved their little potatoes. My boyfriend doesn't normally like breakfast potatoes but loved these ones. We also had the breakfast French toast berries which was amazing! It looks like a small portion, but it was super filling. The indoor and outdoor seating are both pretty classy and there is a harp player. I recommend this place to have quiet relaxed breakfast.

Yelp
Gourmet breakfast with unique ambience. This former seminary, turned fancy hotel, restaurant, bar, offers an elegant dining experience. The Roasted Berkshire Pork Hash was great with nice smoked pulled pork and perfectly roasted little fingerling potatoes. The Brioche French Toast Bread Pudding was perfectly delicate, light and fluffy. Topped with a wonderful berry infused whipped cream and a side of berry compote. Syrup was not needed, as the flavors already popped nicely. Side of bacon provided a good compliment to the other dishes. Coffee was nice and bold. Latte was masterfully prepared. Great service.

Yelp
My husband and I got take-out from this beautiful new restaurant twice this month. If we would've gotten take-out just once, I definitely would've given them 5 stars. However, there was some inconsistency with our second order. Our first order was absolutely superb. We tried several different dishes on our first order - the octopus, the halibut, the scallops, the tomato bisque, and the crispy shaved celery salad. Everything was bursting with flavor. We were delighted. The customer service was top-notch the first time, also. The gentleman on the phone for our first order was super sweet, pleasant, and accommodating. My husband and I enjoyed every single dish for our first order, but the dish that we both enjoyed by far the most on our first order was the octopus starter. It was amazing! The texture and flavor of the octopus were perfection. Firm, but not rubbery, and easy to bite into cleanly. The orange sauce on the octopus was scrumptious! My husband and I split the octopus starter on our first take out order, since we had ordered only one of each of several dishes, since we were trying things out. We both felt like we wanted a full octopus starter, we loved it so much! So, a couple of weeks later (both orders were placed earlier this month, July 2021), we placed our second to-go order from Cedar + Elm - for 3 octopus starters only! Maybe the restaurant didn't like us ordering only the 3 octopus starters and nothing else? If so, I suppose I can kind of understand that - however, we had really loved that octopus! For our second take-out order of only the octopus starters, the texture of the octopus was quite different than it was on our first order. It was too tough, quite hard to bite into, and a tad bit rubbery. Also, the sauce was too spicy, which hadn't been an issue at all on our first order. Customer service was well above average for our second order, but lacked the warmth and finesse of the first time that we ordered from this restaurant - so we noticed a bit of inconsistency with that, too. We would definitely give this restaurant another chance, for sure. I feel like the restaurant may still be finding its footing, but the location is great, the customer service is excellent, and the food is superbly unique (with just the one exception in our second take-out order). The first octopus starter was among the best appetizers that we have ever tasted. We will probably place a more diverse take-out order the third time around, and hope for the best. We're very glad this restaurant is here. We think it is a delightful addition to the Kenmore area. With a few improvements, and greater consistency, this restaurant has the potential to be a shining star.

Yelp
The food is very good. The flavors combined together and the ingredients just much so perfectly. It's definitely a place I would go to have a little taste of a chefs pick , the service was very great as well. They were very attentive and made sure we got everything right. They explain to us their specials, and how everything works since it was our first time going. The ambience was very clean and very pretty. It's definitely a place to dress up and enjoy an elegant dinner. I do wish they had more options on their menu for people who don't know much about pairings of food and sauces. Maybe something a little more simpler? Overall, this was a beautiful dinner to experience.

Yelp
An excellent place for brunch. The menu isn't huge, but there are offerings for everyone. I had the french toast, a side of bacon, coffee and the 'recovery juice'. The service was outstanding, the food just right and the atmosphere is like a vintage spot in a grand hotel, almost like a themed disney restaurant (minus the mouse). The room is bright and airy, the deep green accent color brings a bit of the forest inside. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
I decided to embark on a solo adventure on a scorching day, treating myself to some indulgence. My plan was to dine alone and envision myself strolling down a magical path, meandering through towering trees and sparkling lights. Although it was just the path leading to St. Edward Park, it felt like a whole new realm. So silly me, I made the mistake of parking in the wrong area. The ranger who checked for parking passes was a charming man who kindly directed me to the valet for Cedar and Elm. This place is but a dream. Sweetheart. Rule #1 Don't be like me... Make a Reservation. It's always a good idea to let the restaurant know why you're dining with them. This way, they can make sure your dining experience is top-notch and your guests feel extra special. It's just a small gesture of consideration that goes a long way. I highly recommend Jillian as your server, but if she's not available, don't worry. You'll still be in good hands with the other beautiful servers like Angel and Jose. However, you may miss out on experiencing Jillian's unique charm, which I was lucky enough to experience. Jillian introduced me to Cedar & Elm's menu, and I began with their Addicting Kale & Arugula salad. The chef's garden provided fresh herbs and edible flowers, which were paired with a parmesan dressing that had preserved lemon. The flavors in my mouth were a beautiful combination of tangy citrus, fresh herbs, and cheese. I paired the salad with the Quinta De Santiago Vinho Verde, which had a creamy taste with a slight effervescence and a back note of naughty pineapple. Next, I had the Handmade Ricotta Gnudi For those who are unfamiliar, Gnudi is a type of gnocchi that is more robust and has a thicker texture. It's like the thick-thighed cousin of gnocchi with a bit of attitude. This dish was full of honesty. like going over to your girlfriend's house painting a mask on your face and shoving pasta and buttery bread sticks in your mouth telling each other like it is. So, go ahead and order it but let's keep this dish between us, okay? Shhh... So here is the part where I tell you I had a stunning Scallop Dish that was not on the menu. Sorry not sorry it was mouthwatering. Take a look at that photo and just wish you were me. This dish was paired with the Domaine de Montcy 'Cabriole' Pinot Noir Blend. (Light & pleasant). But lucky you I also Devoured the Hearth Roasted Black Cod. To be continued....

Yelp
The experience was super worth it for the price! I decided to come here for brunch on a Sunday aftern because the interior of this place looked nice. I was really surprised to see a private school like architecture and parking valet in the front. We went without reservation but the wait was only about 10 mins. The food here seemed very clean and healthy. We got a pineapple juice blended with ginger and some other healthy ingredients. The French toast was pretty solid even though it wasn't surprisingly good. The best part about this place was the underground museum galleries. They have a whole display of the history about this place and the architecture is just beautiful. Overall a very pleasant dining experience and I highly recommend it for a date! Just don't expect the food to taste exceptional

Yelp
I enjoyed an amazing brunch with a girlfriend at Cedar+Elm. I love to brunch and this place did not disappoint. The experience started off great with valet parking. Always great when you get straight to your brunch vs looking for parking. I was greeted with a smile and promptly sat (I did have a reservation). I split the chicken and waffles with my girlfriend and we each had mimosas. I highly recommend. I'll be back in the spring to enjoy brunch and hike through the grounds.

Yelp
A classy restaurant that recently opened in May with both tasty food and gorgeous aesthetics! I had anticipated the portions to be small, but they turned out to be filling. No dress code requirements, though it is a perfect location for portrait photos. ----- Chia Seed, Coconut, Lime Pudding: mint, mango, almond, basil ($10). A healthy dish that is packed with nutrients from the chia seeds. The mango was refreshingly sweet and ripe. We didn't taste much of the coconut or lime flavor, but the mint was definitely noticeable. ----- Cocoa Cascara Granola Parfait: fresh berries, fruits, vanilla yogurt ($12). I liked the granola which balanced well with the creamy yogurt and fruit. The bowl came with strawberries, blackberries, raspberries. ----- Chinese Style Congee: roasted heirloom chicken, tofu, scallions, chilis, farm egg ($16). The congee exceeded my expectations! It's not the prettiest dish, but the rice porridge was cooked well with strips of chicken mixed in. The poached egg on top had that runny egg yolk, and the toppings plus sauce that were served on the side complimented the dish. ----- Brioche French Toast: Vermont maple syrup, fresh berries, vanilla mascarpone ($15). The waitress recommended this dish in addition to the congee. My brother ordered this and liked it. ----- Beet Scarlet Detox: beet, orange, ginger ($9). A smooth, earthy hand-pressed juice, although the orange might have been a bit odd with the beet. ----- I had made a 9 AM weekday reservation over the phone and was surprised to find that we were the only customers. Staff was friendly and attentive. They even handed a postcard for us to write in which they'll send to the designated address! Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. The place is located inside The Lodge at St. Edward Park. While there isn't any public parking, there is a complimentary valet service, so make sure to bring cash for tipping.

Yelp
Made our first visit to the lodge for an overnight stay and had dinner at Cedar & Elm. The service was fantastic, very attentive, and food and wine were amazing. Wonderful sablefish & short rib entrees. We highly recommend and look forward to our return!
