Heck yeah, a Cellarmaker in the East Bay! Great location, central to Jack London, good bars, and breweries nearby but not a ton of great pizza options like this place. Service is chill because you can order via QR for the table, so good for groups and splitting.
I’ve been to their original location over 3 times now and have always loved their pizza and beer selection, but I was not as pleased with this location. The Detroit-style pepperoni was burned, in hindsight maybe we should have said something, but it just wasn’t edible on the outside since it was way overcooked. It’s usually got a nice burn on the outside of the melty cheese, but this was hard as a rock, I just couldn’t eat the crust. A bummer because that’s typically the best part. The birria was good but the sauce that it came with was insanely spicy. The pizza needed a little bit of spice, so I added a healthy amount, expecting it to be like a typical hot sauce but this thing blew my socks off and nearly ruined the pizza. When I only added the tiniest amount, it was great, but usually when you give that much sauce, you’d expect it to be more medium, not super-hot. Not a big deal, but just a note. The flavor was awesome though, just not well-balanced.
Good beer selection and it would be cool to have some more non-alcoholic options like a non-alch beer, but the hop water was cool to see on the menu and was tasty.
I would still come back and give this place a try but hope they can be more aligned with their SF location.
