I'm on the hunt for my favorite breakfast sandwich in Salt Lake City, and Central 9th Market has been on my list to check out forever.
The space itself is different than I had pictured, it's a very small grocery store that prioritizes selling local products and supporting small local businesses. I saw some of my favorites there - Raw Eddy's and Mamachari Kombucha, and many many other local favorites. It's not a typical grocery store - it has very limited items - they have hot sauces, bitters, tinned fish, etc. They also had some limited fresh produce as well - greens, eggplant, squash, etc.
The menu here is very straightforward and simple - pick the type of eggs you want and pick your protein (ham, bacon, veggies, etc.). All sandwiches are served on the house made focaccia bread and it's to die for. Truly some of the best bread I've ever had - so fresh, moist, and delicious.
I got their veggies as my protein, and it's served with a medley of mushrooms, onions, and I don't even know what else - maybe peppers? They're marinated in a delicious oily/peppery sauce with a tiny kick to it. It's a messy sandwich, so grab lots of napkins! There was so much flavor in this sandwich, it was delicious. It was a messy one though! It came with cheese and an aioli of some sort as well. So so yummy, I can't get over the bread!!!
There's no seating inside, but there is one picnic table outside that we lucked out and claimed. I'm excited to see this area thriving and so many new places popping up.
