Yelp
As usual, my expectations were high, but I came in here feeling like I may not be as impressed as previous reviewers. People made it sound like this was life-changing food and that just wasn't my experience.
My intent was to come for happy hour, but those hours are just too retrictive for me based on traffic. I was most shocked walking in to see a place and space much smaller than expected. The website is very well down, so well that I thought I would be walking into a large upscale eatery.
There were two women working Our server was friendly and kind, however, she wasn't real attentive, we had to flag her down to have out water refilled more than once, Considering the glasses were only about 6-8 ounce, it only takes two sips to empty your glass.
I had the salsa flight and a single taco. With 3 salsa, I has hoped one would be hot, but none of them were spicy in my opinion. The one that was habanero tasted more like queso than it did salsa. That was the first time I've ever tasted a mild Habanero anything. Each salsa was ok, but they all needed salt in my opinion, but there was no salt to be found.
The taco was large and for almost $7, it was probably twice the size of any $4 taco from a truck. I meant to order mine with a flour tortilla, but it slipped my mind. Like the salsa, the taco was ok, but again, I think the meat would have benefited from some salt.
As I report often, more and more people appear to be allergic to seasoning, so restaurants cut back on salt, because almost no one uses it at home anymore.
I think these are honest hard-working people. With a little more flavor, I probably would have been won over, but I've had the same order at El Cabrito around the corner and love the tacos there far better. They only have a single salsa there, but again, that place just has more flavor in their food.
Truth be told, this was a 2-star experience overall, but I am going to give them a bonus star for being so kind.
