Philly’s Colorful New Pizza Place Cerveau Isn’t Just for the Kids | Eater Philly

"Designed with bright colors, wild patterns, and a whimsical interior splashed in orange and blue, this new pizza spot from chef Joe Hunter (formerly of Pizza Brain) feels like a kid’s birthday party and “screams” family pizza night or a friend get-together, with long picnic tables that easily accommodate larger groups and would suit a birthday party perfectly. Pizzas with thin crusts and plenty of toppings are the main event, with the simpler cheese pie, called a Plain Jane, and the pepperoni standing out as favorites, while the crab rangoon pie disappoints with too much cream cheese and not enough flavor. Snacks such as charred broccolini and butternut squash nicely round out the meal for anyone wanting vegetables, and although there are entrees like roasted half-chicken and hanger steak, they feel unnecessary when the pizza is that good. The menu is rounded out with beer, wine, cocktails, and plenty of nonalcoholic options, plus sides like baskets of fries and marinated vegetables, and there’s also a solid lunch lineup of Italian sandwiches, soups, and salads that makes this a great choice for a weekend lunch with friends or for sneaking out of work early on a Friday." - Maddy Sweitzer-Lamme

Philly Openings in November include Uchi, Wine Dive, Huda Burger, and more | Eater Philly

"A new pizza spot from chef Joe Hunter—an original partner at the beloved but now-closed Pizza Brain and a name chosen as an homage (“cerveau” is French for “brain”)—this Spring Garden restaurant is in limited operations for now, with a menu of inventive seasonal vegetable starters and excellent thin-crust pizzas and a liquor license on the way." - Maddy Sweitzer-Lamme

Cerveau - Review - Spring Garden - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Whenpizzais dressed up with crab rangoon or french onion soup, you know you’re in for a good time. The Spring Garden spot comes from one of the owners of Pizza Brain (RIP),  and offers thin-crust pies with classic and creative toppings in a massive, colorful space. All that space, plus a bar, makes it excellent for an impromptu pizza party with lots of friends.  Top the large wooden tables with the roasted shrimp in garlic butter, charred broccolini, and the perfectly made pizzas (skip the forgettable pasta altogether). We love the spicy pepperoni that gets a peppery boost from red jalapeño, crab rangoon with dollops of creamy crab cheese, and savory french onion that’s as comforting and cheesy as the soup." - Candis R. Came here with my wife. So fun, colors design and atmosphere made us smile. Had Pizzza " The Plane Jane", Fries , Stracciatella, and for desert Ricotta Cheese cake. It was simply amazing. Pizza sauce is so good., great blend of cheese so tasty, Fries were seasoned so good . You must come here!! If you liked his other restaurant Pizza Brain, you will love this even more. Come see Joe and Michael and taste one of the best spots for pizza in Philadelphia!!! Thank you so much, welcome back, see you next week!!!!!

Great vibes, delicious food. Really cool space and a new life for Pizza Brain is so exciting. The rigatoni was exceptional, loved the crab Rangoon pizza, excited to be back to work through the rest of the menu

Amazing place to eat! Super creative and bright atmosphere with an amazing touch of nostalgia. The food is to die for, we only had a few appetizers, but we will definitely be back to try the rest. The pizza is incredible, with both standard options and creative options done very well. We also enjoyed the pasta and small sandwiches offered on the menu. The desserts were creative and delicious as well. Cannot wait to be back for more delicious food and good vibes!

Fun spot with something for everyone! Friendly staff and funky atmosphere. The dishes are all delicious and well prepared. We had a difficult time deciding what to order. Fun cocktails, tasty appetizers, delicious pizzas and great desserts. Will be returning next time in Philadelphia.

Great food, nice addition to Spring Garden. Highly recommend the pepperoni Jalapeno pizza. Will be back for lunch, and to try things off the dinner menu.

Pizza, small plates and pasta were delicious. The fries and broccolini apps were fantastic. Straciatella was good, but boring and desperately needed salt and acid. The short rib pasta was to die for, but definitely needed more short rib. The pizza is, of course, absolutely outstanding and worth the hour drive from the suburbs. I would skip dessert, we tried them all and nothing was really craveable or worth writing about. But you can always go and decide for yourself. But, seriously, go, it's really good!

Heard good things. Opted for take out and was a bit disappointed. Caesar salad was very tiny with minimal cheese. Prosciutto pizza had minimal prosciutto with some lumps of blue cheese strewn about over hard bread. Flavors were good overall especially with the fries and the spicy ketchup. Will give it another shot but plan to go in person.

Still here as I’m writing this, had the mezcal marg, the roasted cabbage, the crab rangoon pizza and the French onion pizza. All were fantastic -/ especially the crab rangoon — I did not know I needed that on a pizza but my god, absolutely delicious. Mezcal marg too, very green because of the midori but absolutely delicious. If I had one complaint it’s that the French onion pizza didn’t come with a French onion ausjus, soup, or dip. I just wanted more French onion soup everything after I ate it 😂. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Brand new spot on spring garden with many big tables and a long bar. Has some cool artwork on the walls and the music matched the vibe. Also has a lounge area with comfy chairs and couches. Everyone was super welcoming. Tried the crispy fried artichokes and root veggies pizza. Artichokes were nicely cut in strips and lightly fried. Covered in shredded capers which gave a unique tangy taste. Root veggies pizza was extra savory. Thin crust with a heavy sauce / lots of toppings so pizza was a little floppy. Good flavor combo though maybe a bit too strong of a ranch flavor for me. Menu has many other interesting small plates and pizza combinations. Definitely want to stop by again to try some more menu items. Thanks

Yelp
When we saw what looked like an old Pizza Brain logo, we knew we had to try this place. TDLR: we enjoyed our food a lot. It has a fun look: lounge area with sofa, wood-paneled bar area, cartoon murals. There's a lot happening. Seating is at the bar, on long tables like a very nice cafeteria or beer hall, some small bistro tables and tall tables. Old TV like Rocko's Modern Life on the big screens. Staff wear casual clothes with 80s/90s inspired accents. Menu has starters like you'd see at a "gastropub." We really enjoyed the charred broccolini with almond tahina (think almond butter). The plain Jane pizza was great. Loved the thin crust, the sauce that was bright (not sweet), and a layer of cheese that was, to me, perfect. Not a fancy pizza, but pizza like I remember from neighborhood pizza parlors a a kid. The pasta was a surprise. They make it in house. Spaghetti had a perfect, toothsome bite. With a cream sauce and chestnuts, it was a very fancy--and tasty--dish we weren't expecting looking at the "basement play room" atmosphere. Love this addition to what is becoming an exciting block of Spring Garden!
