Somehow I managed to miss this brewery when I was doing yelp research before my trip to Denver last month - my guess is because it was covered up by its sister brewery literally next door. Thankfully, while I was tasting a couple beers at Denver Beer Co next door, someone mentioned this place was next door, and I'm really happy I didn't miss it, because they are making some pretty seriously unique stuff here!
Sadly, I was here just a few hours before the GABF, so I couldn't drink as much as I would have liked here, because I'm a big fan of weird beers, and they've got tons - when I was there, though I'm sure these rotate almost constantly, I saw, as far as wacky stuff: a poblano pepper imperial lager; a horchata blonde; a tomatillo and cilantro sour; an IPA made with worm salt; a saison made with Ishpingo, a "rare Equadorian tree bark"; a churro stout. (They had other beers on tap, too, those were just the wacky ones.) They were super friendly, happy to answer all my questions, and patient while I had a hard time deciding (normally at a place like this I would've gotten tasters of everything, but I didn't want to waste beer. You bet this will be one of the first places I come back to if I'm ever in Denver again.) I did get a taster of the sour (delicious), the poblano lager (delicious, though I was hoping for spicier), and the churro stout (also delicious, though not as sweet as I was hoping), and a splash of the Ishpingo IPA (I hate IPAs, but I'd drink that one for sure). Tasters were $2-3, full pours $6-7.
Extra bonus: for no additional charge over the full pour price, you can also get any beer here with lime and a salted rim, made into a michelada, or with a tamarind candy straw! And when I said I'd never heard of a tamarind candy straw, they gave me one for free even though I just got tasters - they're fun, too!
Just funny of the dozen+ breweries I visited that trip, turns out one of my favorite breweries was the one I didn't even know existed when I landed in Denver. I can't wait to come back sometime!
