"Open since mid-2014, Cha Yen Thai Cookery is a Watertown favorite for Thai food; chef and owner Manita Bunnagitkarn even opened a second restaurant, Kala Thai Cookery, four years later in Boston proper (see below.) Cha Yen — which is the Thai phrase for iced tea — mostly sticks with dishes widely familiar at American Thai restaurants, from chicken satay to massaman curry to papaya salad, but done especially well. There are also a few soups that are getting a bit easier to find locally, such as khao soi and boat noodles. Don’t miss the fried corn fritters or the house-made ice creams." - Valerie Li Stack, Rachel Leah Blumenthal

"Cha Yen Thai Cookery, one of Greater Boston’s best Thai restaurants and a particular favorite for its ice cream, is expanding across the street, according to an Instagram post. The updated address will be 620 Mt Auburn St, Watertown, the former home of Andrea’s House of Pizza, which closed August 19 after 40 years when the owners retired. Cha Yen owner Manita Bunnagitkarn, who also runs masterful Kala Thai Cookery in the heart of Boston, says in the video she’s hoping to finish renovations in about six months and add new menu items in the new space, as well as hang onto the old venue for another project." - Adam H. "Cha Yen chef and owner Manita Bunnagitkarn makes ice cream in-house at her Watertown Thai food destination, and it’s a must-try. While the flavors rotate, you’re bound to find something that pairs well with your meal, such as jasmine Thai basil, Thai iced tea, or ginger. One rotating weekly flavor is also available at Cha Yen’s sibling restaurant in downtown Boston, Kala Thai Cookery." - Karen Wilber

Highly recommend this place for their food and atmosphere and service. I can smell a the Thai food 100 ft away. I was craving Thai and stopped by on a whim. It’s didn’t disappoint. The papaya salad was Greta serving for a hungry 1 person or between two people. I got the boat noodle soup My favorite spicy and rich soup and it was great. This place also has a liquor license if you’re looking to drink. Service was great and overall nice spot for Thai!!!

I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough especially with a girlfriend who is gluten free(celiac). The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is great, whoever designed the interior did an amazing job. The food is some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. The Pad Thai, spicy noodle soup and the massaman curry were a 10/10. The drinks were beautiful and were balanced perfectly. There were more than enough gluten free options!

Google
First time at Cha Yen for dinner. Didn't have reservation but the host gave us a table. The restaurant was full! Do make a reservation. The two of us had: 1) curry puffs (3 very fluffy pastry with a curry stuffing)- very tasty; 2) Miang khan (you wrap the provided veggies, coconut, peanuts, dry shrimp into a leave with sauce provided)- it was fantastic! Highly recommend. 3) grilled veggies & squid (both very good and came with dipping sauce); 4) Mee Puu noodle dish with fried crab dumplings (very very good). 5) ended the dinner with mango on warm sticky rice (must try!!!). Very creative dishes and no disappointments. Definitely returning to try other dishes. We shared 6 dishes (would have been full with less but they were so good) plus a beer.

Cha Yen is a great little spot in East Watertown for an upscale atmosphere at a good value with great service. Their menu has a wide offering of Thai tastes that are sure to please your palette, their take on a curry puff as an appetizer never disappoints and is rather light which leaves you plenty of room for their amazing entrees and dishes. Their noodle dishes are a can't miss, with staples like Pad See Ew or one of their delicious broth and noodle bowls. You could order a few things to share with the table if that's more your speed, but each dish can stand in its own as well for a meal. If you enjoy a nice cocktail, their menu and bar tenders are some of the best in the area. We didn't make a reservation and sat at the bar for our meal, but if you're in planning a date night here a reservation is strongly recommended as they can get busy around dinner. You can tell they've put some real work and love into the business as their ambiance and huge skylight give this place an underlying charm.

Google
Clean and cute little Thai Restaurant. Restroom was also well-maintained. A LOT of options on the menu - and they used good ingredients. The corn cake was VERY tasty. Would highly recommend as a starter. The Crispy Rolls were essentially fried Spring Rolls and they were good too. Ordered Massaman curry and Khao Soi Brisket. The portions were good that I end up packing half of the dish home for another meal. Found that there was a lot of meat in each dish as well. Had mild spicy level and maybe I will try medium later, as I found it mild as mild thankfully (I'm terrible with spicy food, have low tolerance). Found that there was a lot of carrot in massaman curry. Had strong coconut aroma. It was good. Found Khao Soi Brisket a little salty. Will likely try something else the next time I go there.

Google
The overall experience at this Thai restaurant was quite good. While it wasn't extraordinary, it didn't disappoint either. The baby corn appetizer was very tasty, and the stir-fried noodles were also well done. The prices are reasonable, making it a place worth trying.

Google
Everything here was creative and delicious! The crispy donuts were great to start with, the outside was perfectly crisp but the inside but nice and chewy. The oysters worked extremely well with the bean sprouts and crispy layer on the outside. I’d never think that would work but it did. The Wagyu sliders were ok and I agree with some of the other reviews in that the buns are just so big and the meat itself is just normal, it’s definitely not “Wagyu” maybe has Wagyu oil drizzled or something. The pad Thai and the curry were both extraordinary though. The sauces were the perfect consistency and they were a nice delicate balance of flavor. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area, it was one to remember for sure!

Stopped in for a quick bite at lunch in their new location a little further down on Mount Auburn Street. It is so beautiful inside, they are so nice and the food was really fresh and very good. I will definitely be back to try some new items ! I had the Pad See Ew and the crispy vegetable spring rolls (and ginger tea)... all were delicious! Can't wait to enjoy my leftovers.

Yelp
Gosh I'm back here two days in a roll! It's amazing to sit next to the window on a sunny day. Brisket noodles: very rich curry flavor! The briskets themselves are okay. Pineapple curry: sweet and sour curry. It's pretty unique. But I liked the Panang Curry more (more spicy and flavorful)

Howie H.

Yelp
they moved across the street apparently two months ago as of december 2024. . it's fancier. it has a bar. we got the corn appetizer, khao soi, and short ribs. i've had the khao soi many times. the khao soi was a bit different. the soup texture and flavor was different. the soupy curry was more gravy like. the meat was a bit drier. hopefully it's because they are transitioning into the new place and the recipes have not changed.

Yelp
I used to say this is the best Thai restaurant in Boston and the nearest suburbs but after a recent visit I must say that since they changed locations and increased their prices, the flavors are now completely lacking. - Tom Yum and Galangal soups are still quite good and I recommend the Galangal especially. However they should be served a little hotter - the chicken curry puff has absolutely no flavor in the curry stuffing - crab fried rice also lacked flavor of fried rice - chicken wings used to be their strong suit - now it was lacking in flavor, sauce, and the chicken did not seem to be cooked to perfection with a bit of crunch the way it used to be - Thai iced tea is fine I suppose - chicken cashew nut was ok, definitely one of their better dishes I recommend they revisit the flavors and spices they once used and revert back to their old style of cooking. Now the dishes are more expensive and not as good!

Tessa L.

Yelp
short rib curry 5/5 - very tender beef and flavorful curry, could come with a little more rice black sesame ice cream 4/5 blueberry ice cream 4/5 ginger ice cream 5/5 Decent Thai place. They have really good ice cream! The best one I've had is their ginger ice cream. It doesn't have too strong of a ginger taste and the vanilla ice cream with it complements the subtle ginger taste well. I would recommend the short rib curry. It has such good flavor and the beef is cooked well so that it is very tender. No complaints about the service, very standard. The interior of the place is nice, not super spacious. There's also ample street parking around the restaurant. You shouldn't have an issues finding a space nearby given that it's in Watertown.

Yelp
NO!!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE? This place used to be FIRE and their food used to be top notch but this place changed so much! I moved to LA and when I finally got to visit Boston, I made it a priority to dine here. I ordered my usual go-tos and when I tasted their food, something just didn't hit right. This place used to taste so much more authentic and flavorful but all the dishes just tasted so dull and boring. It didn't have that kick and fire to it...to top it off, my wife and I both ended up getting sick from their food and we both threw up all night and we were bed ridden all day the next day......I'm not even mad, I'm just genuinely so sad because this place was like THE PLACE on my list for so long.......good bye Cha Yen....it was nice knowing you but I guess nothing lasts forever T_T

Yelp
Food was very good and fresh. Good flavors and service. Atmosphere is nice and was very crowded considering we went on a weeknight. Portion size was good. Got the Gai Yang chicken which was very tender and came with white rice. A lot of the options on the menu were marked spiced which is not for me so limited options there but overall good thai cuisine!

H S.

Yelp
Enjoyed the short rib coconut curry. The shrimp donuts and fish dumplings were a bit heavy for me. Great service and ambiance.

Joy G.

Yelp
Great Thai food - I had to exercise some serious restraint to not finish my green curry because I wanted a portion for leftovers for the next day. The inside is not very big so if you don't want to wait for a table, suggest coming during the early hours. We tried the corn cake as an appetizer. It was pretty good, though the individual corn nuggets got stuck in my back molars. Loved the spicy peanut dipping sauce that came with it. My green curry was seriously one of the best iterations of the dish I've had in a while. Good coconut flavor, packed with veggies (eggplant, string bean, carrot, zucchini), and the tofu I ordered as a protein soaked up so much of the flavor. They offer lunch/dinner portions for the curries. I picked mild for spiciness because I'm a total wimp and it was still pretty spicy for me (so just know their "regular" may actually be quite a kick). The pepper signs on the menu are pretty accurate. I also can't pass up homemade ice creams, especially with black sesame as an option. It nailed the black sesame flavor (i.e., not too sweet) but the texture was a bit too icy and hard to spoon. Next time, I may skip the ice creams and save the stomach room for more of the appetizers/entrees. Next time: the tom yum noodle soup, the crab fried rice. Parking: street options available.

Yelp
Take out was good. Chicken and spring rolls and yummy mango dessert! Service good at the register. I did not dine in. I will go back! Denise Patnod, Cambridge

Yelp
What a great find! Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, Cha Yen Thai Cookery was a nice surprise! Great Service and Hospitality; Great (authentic) Food! Highly recommended! Note that this is a rather small restaurant. We were shocked that my party got the last table for 3 on a late Tuesday evening! We didn't expect it to be so busy at 8pm. They also do a bustling takeout service! On this evening, the 3 of us each chose an entree each and dined family style: - Roti ($6.50): a large roti was cut into 8 pcs, and served with a chicken peanut sauce. This was a very good dish; just wish there were a tad bit more chicken peanut sauce though. - Larb Salad w.Pork ($9.75): the portion size was huge and the Larb was tasty! - Green Curry w.Chicken ($16): this dish came with a bowl of jasmine rice. This was a good dish but I wish the chicken wasn't all white meat. The chicken was a little overcooked and hard. I think dark meat would have been more tender and moist. However, the green curry was very good. - Short Ribs Curry ($19): this dish came with a bowl of jasmine rice. Hands down, this was the best dish of the night. GET THIS!!! It was so unusual to see Short Ribs in a Thai Restaurant. What a pleasant surprise! There were 4 large pcs of short ribs, which were very tender. Great flavor and just delicious. A Must Have Dish! If I'm ever back in the neighborhood, I look forward to a return visit! What a hidden gem!

Yelp
New look for this restaurant. Very upscale and adds a lot to our neighborhood. Very good Thai food. Very authentic. Beautiful place.

Yelp
I was really craving Thai food and decided to go to Cha Yen, even though it was slightly out of the way. I think it might be my favorite Thai place in the Boston area so far, even more than Sugar and Spice (which was recommended by an employee at my favorite Thai restaurant ever in New York). There were all the Thai staples on the menu, but I was intrigued by the corn cake and the poh piah for appetizers. The corn cake was really nice and crispy, with corn inside the fried outside as well. The poh piah reminded me of a few Vietnamese dishes, and was light and refreshing. The pad thai, which I always get at Thai restaurants, was delicious and not too greasy like other places. The tom yum noodle soup was also surprisingly delicious, flavorful, spicy, and sour! The thai tea was refreshing as well. We had to try their homemade ice cream at the end, which was Thai tea and tasted even better than the actual Thai tea to me! I'll definitely go back here again. (note: the seating area was darkly lit because of the location of it behind a wall separating the kitchen)

Yueh Qi C.

Yelp
The waitresses here were really nice, even though we came close to 8:20pm (they close at 9pm), they didn't rush us to leave right at 9pm because the food came around 8:50pm. I had better papaya salad elsewhere and the corn cake was interesting but worth trying. However, the entrees were really good. Got short ribs curry as recommended by another reviewer and did not disappoint. Serving size was big too. Kee mao was a smaller serving but still good, they allow you to ask for less spicy but I think the 3 chili signs really wasn't that spicy.

Reagan T.

Yelp
The atmosphere is so comforting and cozy, perfect place to unwind. Our server was so nice and attentive. The food was delicious and I am most definitely going to come again.

Mark P.

Yelp
The food is made fresh and tastes really good. The bar is well apportioned, so if you choose to have a drink, their signature cocktails are really tasty. The service is great and the space is very modern and bright. Cha Yen Thai Cookery provides a great dining experience.

Madman M.

Yelp
A cozy restaurant offering fantastic & unique Thai cuisine. Started with an order of Chicken Satay. Melody ordered their Shrimp Pad Thai & I chose the Green Curry. Service was relatively attentive. Price was reasonable. Will definitely return.

Cassi K.

Yelp
Cute mom and pop shop and the server was so nice running after a customer that forgot his kid's bottle. Food was good and portions were perfect for the price! We also tried their homemade ice cream (black sesame and coconut) which were really good and textured - you could taste the black sesame really well and the coconut had small bits in them. Would definitely return when in the area!

Parita A.

Yelp
I was really really sad to write this review. It totally could have been an off meal or just the foods we got but the meal was sub par. We did go pretty late (8:30) and the restaurant closes at 9 so that could play a factor. For appetizers, The crispy rolls and tofu soup were good. For main dishes, we ordered the see ew, massaman curry, cashew nut stir fry. All we're just okay. The curry was really thick and there wasn't much actual curry. The cashew nut tasted okay, and the see ew was a little flavorless. The service was good and kind and helpful in assisting with finding and ensuring we had meals that were vegetarian and vegan!

Kenneth X.

Yelp
Good Thai food by Boston standards. However it took 1hr20 min for food to come and no comp was offered nor was the waitress apologetic at all. FYI to the owners: it's against the health code to have dogs indoors at a food establishment

Yickhong L.

Yelp
Food was good. The kee mao wasn't that spicy even with 3 pepper signs so not a real need to go non-spicy. It's a small place so not a lot of tables. The papaya salad wasn't spicy and a little heavier on the sour side than what I've had at other places. The short rib curry was very good.

Quynh P.

Yelp
Cute little spot in Watertown! Service was quick and efficient. We got the shrimp donuts, short rib curry and roasted duck. The duck was so flavorful and tasty, I personally loved the braised egg. Short rib curry was also perfectly seasoned, I really liked the subtle spice. The short ribs could be softer. The shrimp donuts were really good and crispy!

Trinh P.

Yelp
I rarely rarely give a 5 star ratings to any restaurant. I am doing so because last night we ordered some food to be delivered and the food came 20 mins earlier than they said it was coming. As for the food it definitely satisfied everyone of us. The temperature of the food was still hot and the Cole's stayed cold. We had ordered papaya salad, massaman curry, pad se ew, and pad thai. The salad was cold, the papaya and green beans were crunchy offset by the tomatoes and the dressing was perfectly seasoned to bring out the sweetness of the tomatoes! All of the salad was on top of a big leaf of kale. No way I would eat the kale.. I guess it is there for the look but as I think about this maybe next time I am going to ask to not have the kale!! Don't want to waste the veggies just for decoration sake!! The massaman curry was seasoned perfectly. The carrots were cooked but had a bit of bite - nice touch!! And the chicken were tender and well cooked. As for the pad see ew our friend are it and didn't offer to give a taste and he was done with it quite quickly. He said it was delicious!! My pad Thai was very well seasoned and definitely the meat to noodles ratio was generous with the protein (pork). Love that!! The whole dish was delicious and definitely satisfied my hunger. Thank you to the owners of this restaurant to deliver impeccable and tasty food and the delivery top notch!! It is definitely not easy to manage a restaurant but to deliver with such great food and service has to be recognized and celebrated!! Toast to you all for an excellent meal at home and we didn't have to go and get it!!

Shruti D.

Yelp
Had a quick dinner at Cha Yen Thai Cookery and they didn't disappoint. Ordered the Yaki Soba with Tofu. Service was quick and the portion size was good.

Edward W.

Yelp
I recently got takeout from this Thai place. I ordered the roti, crispy poh piah, and khao soi brisket. The roti came with chicken curry sauce. It was crispy and flaky. Good! The crispy poh piah were egg rolls filled with cabbage, carrots, mushrooms and vermicelli. They were piping hot and delicious! The khao soi brisket came with braised beef brisket, egg noodles, coconut milk, curry, shallots, preserved veggies and cilantro. It was one of the spiciest khao soi I have ever had! Even though it was very spicy, I really enjoyed the flavor of it. Next time, I will probably ask if they can make it less spicy. Overall, great food!

Deborah C.

Yelp
Came here after seeing a few mouth-watering photos and was not disappointed. Came as a party of two shortly after they opened on a Saturday and was seated right away. We ordered the Curry Puffs and Roti, as well as Thai Tea Lemonade and Kee Mao with Chicken. The lemonade was unlike anything I've had before, but I think I'd opt for a classic Thai Iced Tea for next time. The curry puffs came with a tangy sauce, but even without it, they were delicious. The roti came with a curry sauce, and were perfectly crispy yet chewy. The Kee Mao ended up being too spicy for me (which I should've anticipated because of the three pepper signs on the menu), but from the bite that I had, it was pretty yummy. I wasn't too hungry when we came, so just the appetizers were enough to satisfy, but I'll definitely come with an empty stomach next time! Overall, a really enjoyable and surprisingly well-priced meal.

Stanley L.

Yelp
Good, yet rate Sugar & Spice better Thai food (over in Porter Sq); picky, as I prefer flat noodles in my Pad Thai, and was disappointed. Still: I can see why many like this locale, so will return for convenience and ease.

Hubert H.

Yelp
Good but maybe not as good as the first time. The Tom Yum noodle soup was too sweet, and the flavors were not as complex as they could be. Also I tend to think of the tom yum as having a tomato flavor but it didn't come through. The duck with broccolini was decent. The cook on the duck was excellent, tender and juicy. But unfortunately it came with asparagus and not broccolini as advertised! I'm not sure the dish holds up well on takeout. The beef short rib with curry sauce was amazing. The short rib was tender falling off the bone, yet the meat maintained its integrity. The curry potato puff pastry appetizer was decent, although I felt that the puff pastry was separated from the curry potato in flavor and concept. The cook on the potato was nice and soft and not overcooked.

Kendra O.

Yelp
What a cute little place with delicious food! I got a Thai iced tea that was amongst the best I've ever had. The massaman curry with tofu was delicious. I also tried a bite of my boyfriend's yakitori and would recommend that as well. All of the food was very affordable. Our server was kind and attentive. Next time I need to save room to try the ice cream!

Alkanie O.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place and it's one of my favorite Thai restaurants so far. I usually ordered Pad Thai whenever I go to a Thai Restaurant and the dish is so favorable.

Andreas S.

Yelp
This small Thai restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. The authenticity of the flavors transported me back to Thailand. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff created a welcoming environment. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, showcasing the chef's skill and dedication. The menu, though compact, offered a perfect selection of Thai delights. A hidden gem that deserves a 5-star rating - I'll definitely be returning for more flavorful experiences!

George F.

Yelp
food was good but I cant give any more than 1 star, portions are very small for what they charge, $27,80 for 2 fried rice to go im sorry to say i will never go back there again and i will tell all my friends and co workers not to go there, sorry untill you up the portions for what you charge il take my business elsewere

Cindy H.

Yelp
Love coming here! Things we've tried and loved - green curry, pad thai, crab fried rice, khao soi, chicken wings and so much more!! Cute ambiance and service is good too! They also make home made ice cream and it's absolutely delicious, my favorite is the black sesame ice cream!

vickie w.

Yelp
The Tom Yum soup and Boat Noodle soup with pork belly are excellent! Great flavor in the Tom Yum soup -- a good balance of spicy and sour but not overpowering. I loved the textures in the Boat Noodle soup. The chewiness of the pork crackling and the softness of the pork belly were a great contrast. Decent portion sizes too! We also tried the shrimp donut, which was good but not my favorite rendition of shrimp paste. I think the carrot just didn't do it for me or maybe I prefer firmer shrimp paste. Next time we will try the E-Sarn sausage. Overall, great place for tasty Thai food at a very reasonable price! We are looking forward to chayen more cooking at Cha Yen Thai Cookery in the future :)

Marni M.

Yelp
Came on a Thursday night in which we were one of a few parties there. For appetizers we shared the curry dumplings, chicken wings and curry puffs. The dumplings were fried to perfection with a hearty curry filling. The chicken wings were great as they had a sweet and spicy garlic sauce that almost caramelized on the crispy skin. The curry puffs were additionally delicious and served with a hot and sour sauce. I assume the filling used for the dumplings were the same as for the buttery and flakey puffs. For entrees, I got the see mao with roasted duck, and my friends got the khao soi brisket, see ew with chicken and the ginger stir fried chicken. The khao soi was my favorite dish as it came in a rich coconut milk based curry broth with the pickles, red onion and crispy noodles. I also like the egg based sauce for the see ew as it had that to distinct umami taste. The roast duck for my see mao was beautifully tender and moist. The ginger chicken had a more subtle taste but was also good. Overall great experience, would love to come back to their Thai tea and more!

Yelp
rating: 3.75/5 this is one of my favorite go-to thai places for lunch take out! i haven't gotten the chance to dine in yet, but the food is probably just as good. their menu is pretty small, but they're good at what they have i can definitely see myself coming back again since i have yet to be disappointed with anything that i've ordered. not to mention, the portions are really fair for the prices. - overall experience - i usually call around 10-15 minutes ahead of time to place a pickup and don't have to wait more than 10 minutes after getting to the restaurant. the service here is always really friendly and they always greet you with a smile! i've only ever had good experiences here, which is why i come back as often as i do. - recommendations - highly recommend that you must try their chicken pad thai and chicken green curry! 2/16/23 -chicken pad thai: i really love the pad thai here! it comes with rice noodles stir-fried with egg, spiced tofu, shallots, peanut, bean sprouts, scallion, and fried shallots. my only complaint is that sometimes the liquid isn't completely fried from the noodles, which kind of messes with the texture. otherwise, it has the perfect balance of nuttiness and savoriness. i usually get their pad thai with chicken, and sometimes the chicken is cooked a bit dry and other times it's cooked just the right amount. the fried shallots on top add an extra crunch, which is great. the portion is enough to last me two meals, which isn't that bad considering the price comes to under $13. (4/5) 3/17/23 -chicken pineapple fried rice: i'm a huge fan of pineapple fried rice, and they do it pretty well here. it comes with curry powder, turmeric, diced fresh pineapple, carrot, and tomato. i'm not a big fan of the tomatoes in here since they get kind of soggy and don't balance that well with the rest of the flavors, but otherwise, it's a good go-to fried rice order. the addition of the pineapple helps balance out the savoriness and i really like the taste of the curry powder in the rice! the chicken in this dish tends to get overcooked, but it's not a big deal for me since the portion is pretty large too for under $13. (3.5/5) 3/21/23 -thai iced coffee: i've never had thai iced coffee so i don't have much to compare this to, but it was really good! it reminds me of a more bitter and less sweet version of vietnamese iced coffee. it still has a pretty strong coffee flavor, with some hints of spices and nuttiness in it. for $4.25, i felt like the price was pretty fair. it's probably not a go-to everyday coffee order for me, but i still was happy to try it out. (3.5/5) 4/11/23 -chicken green curry: the curry here is also pretty good! the portion of rice comes with curry made with coriander paste, bamboo shoots, eggplant, green beans, basil, and peppers. i usually ask for this to be mild, because the regular spice is a bit too spicy for me. i can usually only handle eating half the portion because it gets too spicy for me. my favorite part of the curry is probably the bamboo shoots since they hold onto the curry really well. the green beans still have a slight crunch to them and the eggplant usually gets a bit soggy. the chicken is also sometimes overcooked, but with the curry you can't really notice. i wish that it was an option for them to separate the curry and rice for takeout, but they're unable to do that unfortunately. for $13, i think it's a solid green curry dish since i've reordered it multiple times. (4/5)

Yelp
This is a really good well priced Thia restaurant . We got the red curry, beef brisket, pineapple fried rice and spring role. Every dish was well made and very filling. The service was also great

Samuel A.

Yelp
Small portions of decent Thai food. Excellent: - pad thai is well flavored, but thin noodles are slightly over cooked in small takeaway box (dessert size plate) Good: - pad kee maw drunken noodles is nicely spicy Ok: - pad see ew lacks flavor Meat is quite generous, but more noodles quantity in a bigger size box would make this much more popular at this price $9.75 per box (chicken, pork, tofu, veg)

Andreas R.

Yelp
This is such delicious authentic Thai cooking. Highly recommended. Reasonable prices and charming little space.

Ryan T.

Yelp
This is the best Thai takeout I've had in a long time. Their curries are so good. I've had the panang and red curry and I love them. The curry dumplings are also very tasty

Yelp
We ordered delivery and it took 2.5 hours to get to us. We called the restaurant several times (4) to check in the status of our order and they were "still working on it" nearly 2 hours after we placed our order. Unfortunately, the food was absolutely not worth waiting for. Indeed the ginger stir-fry with chicken and it was very bland and dry. The wings and shrimp were unimpressive. I absolutely do not recommend ordering from this restaurant.

Yelp
Tried cha yen for the first time yesterday. The food was delicious and very fresh!! Everyone was very friendly. I got the massaman curry, pho piah, corn cakes and chicken wings. They even have home made ice cream !! I will definitely be back again this week

Yelp
Amazing Thai food. I brag about this establishment to all of my friends. It really honors the culture. Service is fast an respectful. I have both ordered out and dined in and everything is efficient. It's just on Fridays and weekends you have to order like an hour in advance since they get so busy since they're so popular! They are moving locations due to their success (to just across the street to a bigger space).

Yelp
Loved it. We had the chicken massaman curry and beef kee mao. Both were excellent -- really flavorful, quality ingredients, and good-sized portions. And very reasonably priced! Good service too and pleasant dining atmosphere. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Wow, so delicious. Salmon mango salad, papaya salad, pad thai- *chef's kiss. Flavorful and fresh.

Yelp
I've never been to Thailand but I feel like my tastebuds are accurately transported every time I eat here. I have NEVER had a bad meal or experience here, and I've been coming since 2015. Hands down my favorite place to eat and I am so excited for their new location. Huge props to Chef Manita and her incredible team. 10/10 - every time.

Yelp
flavor spice and deliciousness. Absolutely loved my green curry with brown rice. The flavors were bursting and sooo fresh ! I ordered it with beef and the beef was super tender. Cant wait to come back. Spicy thai curry on a cold day is perfection!

Yelp
Ordered takeout online from here during the pandemic. Food was prepped in an acceptable time. The staff was very hygienic inside. Quail eggs were good. It tastes like regular eggs. It is pretty much seasoned with soy sauce, scallions, and white pepper. $6.5 is kind of pricey for 7 small eggs that is simply made. It was cooked nicely though. Papaya salad was spicy but good. It is made of green papaya, carrot, tomato, green beans, chili, line juice, and peanuts. Love the use of fresh ingredients. The crunch of the salad works well with the nuttiness of the peanuts, and the zest of the lime. I recommend this. Duck kee mao was also good. Kee mao is made with wide rice noodles, garlic, chili, green beans, carrots, onion, peppers, and basil. I just realize that it has some similar ingredients from the papaya salad so you may want to switch things up. But this was a good dish. The duck was nicely cooked. The ratio of protein to vegetable and noodles are acceptable. Got the matcha iced tea for a drink. The drink wasnt too sweet. The matcha taste was subtle. You can tell by the light shade of green color of the drink in the picture. It was okay but I would stick with thai iced tea next time. Overall, the food was good. A little pricey but this is one of the better Thai restaurants in the area. Before the pandemic, I ate inside the restaurant a couple times and it was definitely a better experience than takeout.

Yelp
Good food and service, nice portion size. I had the chicken Pad Thai, maybe not the best I've ever had, but still very tasty.

Yelp
Best Thai food in the Boston area! Especially love the tofu noodle soup and spicy cod dish! The pad Thai is great and the homemade ice creams are an excellent end of meal treat!
