Yelp
They had a nice beaujolais nouveau for me, so I was v happy. They also have crus de beaujolais so I will go back there soon.

Randall M.

Yelp
This was my second time visiting Chambers Street Wines. I tracked down two wines that I was looking for by using Wine-Searcher.com. The wines in question were 2013 Gianni Brunelli Brunello, and 2015 Altesino Brunello. Both were on the shelf, and both were fairly priced. I was in and out within three minutes. The store is accessible by the A/C/E trains or the 2/3 line. I'll be back!

Grace Y.

Yelp
One of my neighborhood go-tos for grabbing a bottle of wine or other alcohol. They have a great rotating selection of wines and the prices are reasonable. Everyone who works there is really nice and friendly with the exception of one man that I really don't like.

Myoshi E.

Yelp
Great stock of wine, deep selection and very friendly & helpful staff. You're treated like a neighbor if it's the first time or the 100th time you've been there. Locals love it and it's far above many other wine retailers in the area. Overall a great vibe and they do tastings on Fridays. Highly recommended.

Mark S.

Yelp
Chambers Street Wine is so different from other wine stores in that the focus is on the wine and not about marketing & merchandising. If you are really passionate about the wine you drink and are always interested in learning more about wines you should try, this is the place to come to! The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable- my wife and I love coming here!

Sabina S.

Yelp
This wine store is THE BEST! During the pandemic they are doing delivery and pickup only, but that doesn't diminish how helpful and knowledgeable these guys are. I stopped by on a Friday night enroute to a friend's place, hoping to pick up some bottles for the group. A kind gentleman met me outside and asked what I was looking for so I gave him some varietals / tasting notes and price range. He came back with 4 bottles he would recommend, letting us take a look at the bottle and scan it on Vivino. We left with 2 bottles and both were OUTSTANDING yet super affordable. These guys truly know their stuff, especially among smaller wine producers, and listen when you talk about your wine tastes. Swing by and talk to these amicable personified wine encyclopedias and discover your next fave bottle you otherwise would never have.

Jason R.

Yelp
I went to Chamber Street Wine because I knew they carried Forthave products. I was specially looking for the Two Amaro. They had one bottle sitting in plain site on the shelf. When I brought it to checkout, I was told, 'Sorry, I can't sell you this as it was already sold to an online customer.' I will seriously never step foot in that store ever again.

Yelp
5000 miles away from my boyfriend and wanted to buy him a nice red for his birthday, delivered to work. Ran a quick search through Yelp and decided to call this shop. I don't drink alcohol on the regular so I knew absolutely nothing about wine, but the person I spoke with over the phone, Andrew, was so helpful and nice! I wanted an older red, not too dry, something unique to the shop, and in my price point. Andrew quickly offered 2 options, a 1985 Livingston Moffett Cabernet Sauvignon or a 1986 Fontanafredda Barolo. So obviously, knowing what I know about wine, I went with the Barolo because it was a little pricier! Ha! He took the time to explain the qualities of the Barolo...and what tannic meant. Superb service! Chambers can gift wrap the bottles with silver paper and ribbon, and deliver free of charge within NYC. Must still tip the deliverer. Andrew was kind enough to add a personalized note that I dictated for him. It was a painless process! Very pleased.

Laura G.

Yelp
Love love love this shop. The folks who work there are so kind and patient - I am an utter idiot when it comes to wine and they've still always treated me with respect (no matter how weird my wine descriptions get). Their recommendations are great and they work within the price point you give them. We always stop by when visiting family in NYC!

Mihael K.

Yelp
Chambers Street is by far one of my favorite wine stores. They have such a variety of wines here. New World, Old World, the crowd pleasers, and some unique stuff you don't really see very often. Whatever you are looking for, they will have it here. They also have a wide variety of prices so no matter your budget, you'll be able to find something that you are looking for. The best thing about Chambers Street is the older vintages. I saw plenty of old wines from the 50s-90s, all at incredibly reasonable prices for what they are. I ended up buying a 1971 Barolo and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable. The people here know what they are doing and can point you in the right direction if you don't. I highly recommend going here if you need to buy a bottle of wine for any occasion.

Edward J.

Yelp
I love this place. A small, curated selection-- shopping here is like the Spotify Discover Weekly playlist of wine shops, the choices are always interesting, you might find something you didn't know you love, and, best of all, it's manageable and engaging. Staff is always friendly and helpful, the frequent tastings help too. Bonus points: their instagram is great and a helpful way of staying up on their inventory.

Alexander B.

Yelp
I'm a novice when it comes to wines, but Chambers Street Wines has been a fantastic place to learn about the wide, and often times intimidating, world of wines. The store has a fairly wide selection of wines with a fair amount of focus given to nearly every well known region and sub-region (though I'm still on the hunt for an Alsatian gewurztraminer...maybe one day) and the staff are all very knowledgeable about the selection and/or the varietals/styles more generally. As others have mentioned, their Instagram is a terrific way of staying on top of what they have in stock. I typically stick to your day-to-day wines, so I can't speak to their decades old bottles as I don't have that kind of drinking money. But the recommendations made by the staff of the comparatively plebeian bottles I'm drinking, especially if you let them know and can specify the flavor profile you're looking for, have always worked well for me. I stop in almost weekly now that I've discovered Chambers Street Wines and will continue to do so!

Joseph G.

Yelp
This place is tight. There's ALWAYS a tasting directly in front of the fridge with the cold drinks. I stop in here rarely and it's usually packed. The price points are decent. It isn't a liquor store, per sè. I've been a few times and don't recall seeing hard liquor. Maybe my tunnel vision prohibits this. I go there for whites, reds, and a decent prosecco. They haven't failed me yet. However, if I hand you my card, put it back in my hand, this isn't the 1850's..

Aiko S.

Yelp
Fantastic customer service and great selection of wines. As a small business they care about their customers and go above and beyond. I am by no means an expert when it comes to wine, but I've enjoyed all of their recommendations and products. So lucky this place is in my neighborhood!

H.M S.

Yelp
Came in here hoping to make this my new convenient go-to wine store. Simply because of the customer service I received, or lack thereof, I walked out and I will not be returning. There was no greeting or acknowledgement of having a customer in their store. Keep in mind we are the ones who keep your business running, so next time please say hi and ask your customers if they need any help or if they are looking for something specific and hopefully you'll retain a regular customer.

Nate C.

Yelp
Chambers Street Wines is a staple of Tribeca. They have a huge selection of wine from around the world, and a small selection of liquor. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable and gives great recommendations, but it's a bit hard to find things in our own since they have such a large inventory and variety. I would recommend to anyone, but suggest immediately asking for help.

Phil G.

Yelp
So far, this shop suits my needs better than any of the local competition. It is almost always in my path so, it will be difficult for the other to crack the code and capture my wallet share. They have informal tastings. They offer advice on wine and spirits. The inventory is extensive. In the spirit section, they have some unique and high quality products. They are friendly and/or informative. Ironically, I write a shorter review of the ones I like best.

Hin-Chung L.

Yelp
This wine shop is on my way home so I visited it quite often. Staffs are very knowledgable and enthusiastic. They stock a lot of different wines, even older vintages and in reasonable price. This place will give you the education you need about wines and good for experimentation. 2 stars because they sell many bad bottles. I bought about 10 bottles from them over time and about 50% of them are bad. This includes a 2009 La Stoppa Barbera della Stoppa Emilia IGT and a 2008 Il Colle Brunello di Montalcino. The wines are just oxidized and dead. They are not even that old. I suspect they don't store them properly or there is an issue with their source. On the other hand I had a very good bottle of 2009 Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie La Chavaroche. A good shop if only the wines they sell are in good conditions. I stopped going given the poor reliability.

Tony G.

Yelp
An abundance of knowledgeable staff---you rarely have to wait or walk more than 10 steps to find a member of their team. These guys are true wine geeks but are totally accessible! Loads of small and rarely seen producers of organic and biodynamic wines. They have multiple new offerings with great descriptions on their site. The prices! Yeesh. Just so great. This is truly a grown-up candy store. I know I sound like I work here. I don't...I am just a huge fan.

Marie S.

Yelp
Chambers Street Wines is one of my favorite wine stores. The staff is highly knowledgable and helpful. I was searching for a high quality Pet-Nat & couldn't locate any good ones anywhere else except at Chambers Street Wines. They recommended two excellent ones, I brought one to a party & it was very popular, unlike me.... When in doubt, bring a great wine to a party! The best part? Both wines were priced around $20 but you'd never guess. The Pet-Nat wine I purchased was also sulfite free (I'm allergic to sulfites). Outstanding wine store experience. Thank you!

Gloria L.

Yelp
Nice Peter Liem champagne tasting event. Met the champagne buyer as well as one of the champagne reps who were both informative.

Neal S.

Yelp
I've been shopping here for over fifteen years but unfortunately can usually only get to New York once or twice a year at the most. So I'm not here often, but I know the place well. It is one of my favorite wine stores, and that includes competition from several fine places in my home state of California. I've always enjoyed the friendliness and wine expertise of the folks here. They are knowledgeable but not snobbish, work with your price range rather than sell you up, and really know their stock. It's always a real pleasure to drop in and buy wine - this is a place where you can trust the staff's choices or explore on your own, and be very happy with the shopping experience and the result.

Yelp
Amazing wine shop. Great selection and lovely gift wrap for your purchase. Would highly recommend

Francesco M.

Yelp
Over priced and quite often the red wine is gone / probably they do not keep it properly

Richard S.

Yelp
Best wine store in Manhattan. Owners have relationships with many incredible small producers in France and direct import from those producers. This store dedicates equal amounts of shelf space to $20 bottles of wine as it does to $200+ bottles. They do not discriminate. They are true wine lovers, and they will help you find something special at any price point.

Dana F.

Yelp
What's better than Spanish wine? Having oenophile hipster boys share their love of Riberas and Riojas and recommending affordable options! No matter which region of the world you have in mind, Chambers Street Wines has you covered. The Spanish wines offered here are all of tremendous quality and value. The price points vary but you can find an "everyday" bottle of wine as well as something for special occassions. Each of the employees seems to have expertise with specific varietals. I was directed to the employee who places orders for the Riojas and Riberas and he spoke with such gusto about a particular vintage he had ordered. Occassionally there are tasting events, which are a great way to become familiar with some of the new offerings in-store. As I decant a beautiful Montecastro 2005 Ribera for this evening's dinner, I am reminded that I have a lot to be thankful for, and am eternally grateful for those who have motivated me to excel. Happy Thanksgiving; I hope that you are spending it with loved ones.

Monica S.

Yelp
SN-OOTY. I love me some wine, and if you dont want to give me the time of day, I can purchase my wine elsewhere. So what if I just came from the pool and smell like chlorine, no excuse. I hate place like this. So because I am under the age of 40 and in gym clothes I can't buy wine? Suck it Chambers St. Wines. I have Petit Cave right behind my apt, and the guy there is sweet as a peach. You my friends... just lost... a customer.

Megan C.

Yelp
Nice Variety Everyone who has helped me here has been knowledgeable and kind. Quaint, neat, and easy to sort through the racks and racks of wines. Still wish they had more types of sake. Either way, excellent place to pick up something different. You'll surely be able to tell the people working here what you're making for dinner when you need a great wine paired. Date Rating: 2 Pick up Scale: 1 Strong Suggestion: Pick two bottles if you can't make up your mind.

A. D.

Yelp
Unreliable Delivery! "We'll deliver your wine TOMORROW"??? I ordered wine online from their website...which stated "to ensure your order is delivered tonight, please order by 7pm." I placed my order at 6:34pm, and got a confirmation email. Fast-forward to 7:15 (after my local wine store closed, thanks), and I receive another email from Chambers Street Wines, stating "Thanks for your order. Your wine will be delivered tomorrow." Are you kidding me? Don't accept orders if you can't fulfill them, people! That's no way to run a business. I'll never order from here again!

Wicke T.

Yelp
bunch of BS,,, ordered a bottle off of there website and it let me put the order in and told me how much shipping would be etc... then i get an email saying they cant ship it to me, what kind of crap is that. Fix your website if you cant ship out of state

Julie G.

Yelp
I've only come here twice - on my way back from Whole Foods after planning a nice dinner and in need of some wine. I've walked past it a thousand times, but didn't realize what lied inside until recently! This is definitely one of the best, if not the best wine shop I have visited in the city. They have a ridiculous selection of French wines ranging from $15 to $150+. Everyone there is super helpful and they have a lot of knowledge about wine regions and the types of grapes. I have two new Bourgognes to try.. very exciting!

Tom D.

Yelp
Chambers Street focuses on organic, natural and biodynamic wines. I have been a long time fan and ordered from them on a fairly regular basis over the last few years. Since I was in New York, I figured it was worth a visit to their store. Chambers Street may have the largest inventory of Louis/Dressner Selections in the United States, so that alone is worth the trip. They also have some hard to find small producers -- and they obviously take a lot of care in selecting which wines they carry. The care and expertise in putting together their selection is evident -- it's an awesome collection. John spent a good 30-40 minutes with me, he was very friendly, helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable -- and I greatly appreciated the attention. Really a unique store -- full of authentic wines and genuine and sincere service. Will return.

Christina K.

Yelp
Love this wine shop definitely in my top five shops in nyc . A real winenerd place.

Nikita L.

Yelp
Great spot to grab a reasonable bottle for a night in or a great bottle for a dinner party. Friendly and knowledgeable staff

Chris M.

Yelp
Friendly and knowledgeable staff that will navigate your palette to find the best liqurrs your wallet can afford that you won't often find in other liquor stores. They specialize in finding unique liquors in NY and I often find myself there looking for new batches of whiskey brands that other liquor stores do not carry.

Kim D.

Yelp
I was sent here by a friend to buy my boyfriend a 1970s vintage wine for his birthday. The wine enthusiasts at CSW were as enthusiastic about my gift as I was. They couldn't have been more helpful, patient and knowledgeable. CSW undoubtedly had a vast selection of 1970s vintages of any wine store (in the US) or any website. Their price points started at $100 versus $400, like the others. I got a very special 1970s Barolo in my price range and couldn't have been happier with my first vintage wine purchase. If I lived in Tribeca I would be a regular at this wine shop. On my way out, I asked for a wine recommendation for the evening. They suggested a 2008 Barolo ($20) from the same winemaker so I could compare/contrast. What a fun education, it's a superb place!!

Matthew A.

Yelp
One of the best shops in the city, and certainly the OG spot. They recently bought some old collections, which means they have a lot of old wine; it's a gamble, but I've had good results. Staff is always friendly. I work in the industry, and they're very accommodating and know how to take care of those of us out there in the trenches. My only suggestion is that the store is claustrophobic (not really something they can change), and that their focus on buying old cellars right now is limiting their ability to stay on top of what's happening currently, but I'm always a sucker to browse the old bottles as well. 5 stars, of course. No actual complaints, really.

Jance O.

Yelp
Loved the customer service. I had a conversation with the manager ( forgot to get her name but she mentioned one of her specialty was German wines) we spoke about the different wines and the set up of the store and she provided me with so much information. She didnt rush with me and really listened to what I was looking for. Thank you so much.

Teresa B.

Yelp
Very helpful (and young) staff that provides what I will give a rave recommendation. I was looking for a robust, spicy, full bodied Red to pair nicely with a new brie I picked up for the evening. OH BOY was I pointed in the right direction! Lifting up, and scanning (with my Vivino wine app) what later on proved to be an exquisite bottle of Montepulciano D'Abruzzo; I made contact with the handsome label. No stranger to this wine (my family comes from an area close to the Abruzzo region-REPRESENT), I was skeptical to buy, because this blend has not always been so good to me. After Santa's little wine helper gave me other recommendations, I went with his first choice; as I wasn't in the mood for fruity Bordeaux (which he also so kindly recommended). He knew his stuff, was polite, helpful and attentive. Although I did spot some expensive ($400) bottles of wine on display, there were also very affordable and high quality selections available as well. I encountered some labels that I was having trouble finding in my usual liquor store, in addition to the brand new and attractive Italian Reds that I had never seen before. Will absolutely be back soon!

Joe L.

Yelp
I could gush and gush and gush about this place, but I will try to keep it brief. CSW is my favorite wine shop, and is about as good as one could hope for. For what it's worth, I am a fan of artisanal, old-world style wines, with some age on them, and CSW is a great source for that. I have never encountered a retail shop with such an abundance of great products, such a diverse selection, an inventory with provenance so outstanding, and a staff that is not only incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, but friendly and approachable. From France, Italy and Spain, to Austria and Germany, to South Africa, Australia and back to the US, CSW has wines from all corners of the globe, with a focus on independent and boutique producers who are employing natural (biodynamic, organic, etc) processes in their winemaking. At the end of the day, you can rest assured that they have done their diligence and will stand behind the products they are selling, which is not always the case with some retailers. If you are looking for old, rare, hard-to-find or just an every day quaffer, you will undoubtedly love CSW. These guys are a rare breed and others would do well to take a few pages from their play book. I do my best to support them and if you give them a try, I'm willing to bet that you won't want to shop anywhere else. Cheers!

Lindley E.

Yelp
Wonderful wine shop that specializes in the smaller wine regions of France and its' superlative naturally-produced wines. The selection is not limited to France, however; small-production wines from every great wine-producing country, including Italy, the US, Australia, Spain, Portugal and New Zealand are represented, and there is even a small, well-edited selection of sake and champagne. Spirits are stocked by the cash register. The shop is small and surprising: there are weekend wine tastings of bottles you would never see opened in any other shop, sometimes from places you have never heard of, unless you are intimate with each miniature appellation in the Loire (and the like). The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and will find you the perfect fit for your taste. I first discovered the amazing Louis/Dressner catalog at Chambers Street Wines, an importer who selects wines from small, wholly natural French wine producers. Louis/Dressner is like Kermit Lynch for the 2000s -- an importer of impeccable taste whose selections are both reasonable and extraordinary. If you are anywhere near downtown, consider going out of your way for Chambers Street Wines. You will be very pleased that you did.

Yelp
SHAMEFUL customer service at a well known wine store! (I don't make many reviews on yelp, but when i do its usually something so awfully good or bad, unfortunately this is the bad kind, details below) - Talking shit about their customer behind the back while emailing a "sincere" apology by Jamie Wolff (partner at Chambers) ie shit starts at the top of the chain - Inadequate inventory process that over sells what they have - Grey market authentic bottle verification after order processing - Lying about playing favoritism among diff customers after many serious inventory mistakes - Cancelling customer's order without customer's consent 3/18/16, Chambers sent email to sell verified 34 bottles of 1970s Green chartreuse. I made 2 purchases at their site within minutes, both processed smoothly. They replied later that Chambers sold more than they have, my combined orders for the Green Chartreuse will be reduced by 40%. I gave them benefit of doubt and politely agreed to the reduction even though a big chuck of the order was gone. 3/24/16 new email from Chambers reports 2nd "miscount" has happened on top of the 1st one, they now have to reduce my order down another 66% for a total of 80% combined. How hard is it to count bottles to miss it by 80%? that's same as 10 = 2!? I called to find out why, they said the new miscount was due to bottles discovered that were "inauthentic" to the description they sent in email when they were shipping. Shouldn't they check for authenticity before they advertise it online or sell to customer? Chambers originally said all customers involved were reduced the same PERCENTAGE, 1st time customer like me or their best regular customers were suppose to have the same % reductions for Chambers mistakes. But truth was far from it, after telling me how many bottles was reduced from their best customer w the highest allocation, Chambers realized it was a lie as the math doesn't add up to the same %. They started to back track, refused to further answer my question on equal % reduction, then threatened to cancel all that's left of my confirmed bottles if I don't end the questioning. Jamie Wolff (partner of Chamber) replied last to "sincerely" apologize. At the same time he emailed other staff to talk shit about me and also stop them answering my question on whether they reduced fairly. But not surprisingly he was stupid enough to send that same internal email to me as well. 3/27/16 I gave them one more chance to clear their name after the fake apology, confronted Jamie and the owner David on why is he says sincerely apology when he clearly doesnt mean it for mistakes Chamber have made. Chambers lead by Jamie then cancels my order without my consent. I guess he is telling me know how he really feels first time customers should be treated.

Matthew L.

Yelp
This really is "as good as it gets". Their wine selection is truly wonderful - focusing on artisan producers from around the globe that tend to be tricky to find at your average retailer. Their staff is a great resource too...with so many unknown producers on the shelves, having a staff able to explain the nature of each wine is critical. Despite living out in South Dakota, I try to shop from CSW as often as possible. I have yet to visit another store in the country that is better than these guys.

Elliot P.

Yelp
This place has become my go to for anything from the south of France at a really reasonable price. Chambers Street specializes in organic and biodynamic selections and they've got a great selection. Saturday afternoon tastings are my favorite after a day of paper work. I always walk out with another bottle. Went in once for a birthday present for a friend and asked the fellow helping me what he would like to receive for a special birthday and I set a price. He came up with three choices and didn't oversell any of them just let me pick one. And if you don't live or work in the neighborhood the IRT 2 and 3 is just steps from the door of the shop!

Arman H.

Yelp
I could come to this wine shop every day and learn something new. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, I wish I knew the gentleman's name, but when helping me make a champagne selection he took me over to a map of Champagne and took the time to explain the village, terroir, and vinification techniques used to produce them. He even helped me save some money! A magnificent wine shop that I wish I could have close to home. Lots of unique bottles that are almost impossible to find elsewhere. This will be my first (and last) stop on every trip I take to NYC from here on out. I was very impressed.

Sandra L.

Yelp
This wine shop concentrates on organic and biodynamic wines. You can easily find a tasty sustainable, quality wines at affordable prices. It has a great selection of wines under $20 and also high-end bottles if you feel like splurging. It carries many unknown name brands and hard to find wines as well. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about their products that they carry. I've been to one of their tastings with an importer and they served some delicious cheeses with the featured wines as well.

Kristin K.

Yelp
Needed to send a thank you gift to a friend and found Chambers Street Wines online in a search of their neighborhood. The website was informative and they had an option to purchase gift cards which I did. But what most impressed me is their customer service and the follow-up time and care that was given to my gift via email exchanges. In the end, they did not charge me to "ship" the gift but rather walked it over to my friend's residence to hand deliver it. I am very appreciative!

Rita C.

Yelp
Wonderful customer service! Finally found a riesling that I have been looking for for months. Ordered a case and they were able to accommodate delivery needs as well as gift bags, ties, and cardboard carrier for easy transportation! Plus, 10% of 12 bottles and free delivery in NYC. Found my new favorite wine shop. Will definitely order again.

Linda C.

Yelp
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Needed to get gifts and I was happy with their recommendations. Their store also has a wide selection .
