Maison Ruinart

Loved our visit to Ruinart on what was a very cold and wet day in November. The architecture is stunning and a true contrast to the surrounding houses. The main building features a stunning gift shop selling champagne and other bespoke items which is worth a look. The bar is beautifully designed and comfortable to enjoy a bottle of champagne and light meals. The team were friendly and attentive.

Americans leaving this review. I have always loved Ruinart Champagne. The style, the history, the quality. All of it. We didn't do a cellar tour. Instead, we went to the bar area, ordered a little food, and got to work with some flights. We got cozy with our server and asked lots of questions. We got a few small free samples. I discovered a new favorite Champagne from them. 2010 Blanc de Blanc. At $24EU, it was worth every penny. Definitely visit Ruinart. Plan on spending $150-200 EU for 6-7 wines and some food.

Highly recommend. They just redid the grounds and entry building in preparation for their 300th birthday in 2029 so things are beautiful. Not just an informative tour with beautiful grounds and delicious champagne, but lots of art installations included which is a great touch and makes it stand out more from the usual champagne tours you can get here. Our tour guide Lauren was very friendly and answered our groups many questions.

Maison Ruinart was exceptional. Amélie, our guide, was fantastic—friendly, engaging, and full of insight. The tour has a creative, artistic feel with unexpected moments throughout the caves. We loved finishing in a charming living-room setting for the tasting, which felt personal and relaxing. The property is elegant and thoughtfully designed. A must-visit in Reims.

Absolutely fantastic tour and tasting event. We go to try some of their most iconic champagnes. Followed by lunch at the Ruinart Restaurant, well worth it with a Ruinart 2004 Magnum Brut… we ended up spending 4-5 hours at Ruinart. We had a private tour at Ruinart and it was incredible! Our guide, Morgan, was so kind and knowledgeable, not just a normal tour, he answered all our questions and shared fascinating insights. We visited Maison Ruinart in July 2025 to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were treated to an unforgettable experience. The historic cellar tour was mesmerizing and full of fascinating insights, the Chardonnay Experience was exceptional, and the gracious hospitality of the staff made our visit truly special. We look forward to returning soon.

An experience like no other! We first had a delightful brunch here. So many tasty things to eat. They accommodated my vegetarian diet, which I appreciated. We took a tour through the cellars and chalk caves - very neat to see! We took part in tastings and loved everything we tried. Highly recommend!

Really thoughtful and interesting tour combined with a beautiful outdoor area to drink after. Maison Ruinart has a deep connection with art, and you'll see that on the tour. They have a lovely house with some really neat pieces of art that you'll see before the tour. The cellars are nice and I'd recommend a jacket as it is quite cold. You'll taste a few wines and then have options on your own. After, you can either enjoy their outdoor garden and purchase food and/or drink to enjoy or you can buy wine to take home. They do not ship their wine so if you didn't drive don't expect to take any home.

First time tasting Ruinart champagne and first time visiting the house. We did a tour with tasting, and it was pretty interesting. The majority of the tour did discuss a lot of artist collaborations with the house and showed the collaborations. Apparently every year the house partners with a different artist to come up with an original piece of artwork inspired by the house. Our tour also took us down to the cellars and finished with a wine tasting. We had a choice between a regular rose/vintage rose and regular champagne/vintage champagne. Our tour guide was also good, she had a fun sense of humor.

I visited four champagne houses during my trip, Ruinart by far had the most beautiful house. Artwork and rich in history. We came early to the tour, carrying bags from a precious tour. The security guard after much negotiation with our driver let us come behind the gates. We were not allowed to go to a waiting area and found a curb to sit on. This house takes this champagne and history very seriously. I would recommend NOT to bring children.

We have always enjoyed Ruinart. When planning our first trip to Reims, Ruinart was at the top of the list. We purchased tickets for tour and premium tasting nearly 8 weeks in advance. At the same time we scheduled multiple other tastings for our week in Champagne. During our visit we made an honest mistake and ended up in the wrong town on the wrong afternoon after misreading our schedule. Moët & Chandon was generous enough to accommodate us even though we were there a day early. When I reached out to Ruinart asking if they could reschedule is later in the week they refused, stating that the tickets were non refundable and non- exchangeable. We knew that at the time of purchase, as were all the others we pre-arranged. I am still rather dumbfounded that after buying two tickets for 140€ that they would not even make an effort to assist in rescheduling. Gee- we might have bought a case of champagne. Pretty short sighted if you ask me. That's ok- there are plenty of other champagnes out there. We've likely bought our last bottle of Ruinart. On the other hand, Moet & Chandon had no obligation to help us out, but they did. We had a great time and stocked up on limited edition cuvées. What on earth were they thinking....????

We spent a great afternoon at Ruinart, pre-booked as its not the sort of place to turn up on the off chance! We were welcomed by the security guard who radioed through to the main house and then warmly welcomed by our hostess. Once the 8 of us had assembled we set off deeper and deeper into the remarkable underground chalk caves where the champagne has been stored for centuries. The caves are breathtaking, huge and ancient and full of thousands of bottles of champagne-in-waiting. After our explorations we returned to the main house and seated ourselves in the gracious drawing room for our tasting. We were offered two glasses of champagne each, blanc and rose. We liked them all however, the overall favourite was the Dom Ruinart Rose.... delicious. Now we can say that we have drunk €200 a bottle champagne. Oh yes. The champagne lifestyle.

Fatima is the best guide ever . Super smile . Super nice super welcoming . The champagne are absolutly amazing . We had an amazing bachelorette party here . Thank you Fatima with your smile and kidness you really represent the brand Ruinart. Such a great time . She is also speaking english french and spannish . She just rocks !!!

I went to Ruinart, Taittinger, and Lanson. Of these, Ruinart felt the most high end. Our guide was super nice and professional and the cave tour was quite extensive and impressive. The tasting is a bit more expensive than peers, especially since it's only two glasses but the champagne was quite good and the pours were generous. They allocate two hours for the experience (others wineries do 60-90 min) and this allowed the guide to really talk through everything you wanted and give a lot of explanations during the tasting, which was fairly unique compared to the other places.

The tour was amazing. Our tour was informative, brisk and fun. The tour guide was passionate and inviting. She was the reason I give 5 stars and not four. If you only do one then this one should be the one. The champagne is incredible too.

I was looking forward to our group tour (8 adults and 6 children) but I didn't anticipate that our guide would be moody with an artificial facade that poorly masked his disdain for my friends noisy children while he spoke. First, he was arguing with a colleague about the size of our group in front of some of us. I don't know what the issue was but his colleague wanted it resolved and he seemed resistant as first. During the tour, he seemed to like the children and interacted with them but then became frustrated again. He also treated me like an idiot a few times when I asked questions. At other times he was nice and informative. In the end he never said that the tour was over or goodbye. He invited four other visitors into our private room and started a private tasting with them. When I walked up to them he stopped talking at stared at me like I was a homeless person begging for change. I simply wanted to know if he needed to escort us around the property to see the art or if we could go on our own. He reacted so rudely that it shocked me. We wandered around and were asked by another guide if he could help us. We said we were looking for the art that was mentioned in our tour. As with the other guide, he looked at us like we were a bunch of dummies, raised his eyebrows and said 'Beh, zees ees eet' as if we should have already known the small room we stood in was the only place to see the art installations. Overall a pretty big disappointment for €70 per person, especially when Ruinart is only good champagne and not exceptional or even very good.

This was our first time today Champaign Regional. The place was beautiful! Our tour guide did such a great job, but the tour was a bit long. You definitely should start off the tour with a glass of wine. Hour and half is quite. In our group, a coupe brought their 8 month old baby. THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED!! It was very disruptive the whole time! This is the one place children should NOT be allowed...

This place is amazing. If you want to visit the cellars, go on their website and book in advance. The chalk-walked cellars are beautiful. The tour is very informative; our guide (Catalina) did a great job at explaining Ruinart's history and the champagne making process generally. After the tour, you hang out in a beautiful salon and sample some of the Ruinart champagne. You get one tasting with the tour, but I would definitely opt for the two champagne tasting option and try both of their vintage champagnes (1998 Brut white and 1996 Brut rose). I believe it was 30 euros for the tour and a tasting of two champagnes, which is a steal given that the 1996 Brut rose runs for around $400 a bottle.

If you have not tried Ruinart, you have not yet lived. And now I have lived to the fullest, because I experienced the Champagne in its own birthplace and home. Go there. Buy some. Drink.

Matthew, host and guide, was wonderful. He spent extra time during the tasting and took care to explain the champagne-making process, history of the House, and geography of the region. He also stayed to answer every question after the English-speaking tour and tasting. The deep and old chalk caves are amazing, both the current contents and the remarkable history. The generous tasting is also wonderful, not rushed, and in the most comfortable setting experienced all day. Highly recommend Ruinart and Matthew, the guide.
