Google
A wonderful venue to see a show. Every seat is a great view and it's an intimate experience as opposed to a large venue where the moment geys lost in the crowd and noise.

Google
We made a mini vacation to attend Highly Suspect on 2/13/25. Parking is really easy for Charleston and the venue was clean. Employees and facilities were top notch. I’d come back for another show for sure!!

Google
This is one of the best venues I’ve been to for a show. It’s pretty small so you’re very close to the performers, which is terrific they have a great bar. And snacks available in the location is super convenient. If an artist you like is playing there I would definitely go.

Joy Taylor

Google
Great venue. We’ve seen comedians and music shows here and they are all great. All seats are fantastic.

Google
Love this 1k seat venue in the heart of downtown Charlestonnesr the Visitors Center & City parking garages between King and Meeting. Quaint, charming, comfortable seats and cool bar area. Very fun evening with comedian Josh Johnson. Plan ahead bc getting into the parking garages takes time but is a short walk to the venue. City charged $5 and car was good until 3:00 am so walk to restaurants /bars on King was super convenient afterwards.

Google
It's a quaint and quality venue that makes sure you enjoy the show that you're there to see. I've been there a few times to see a couple different concerts, and each time I wasn't disappointed. It's small, so no matter where you are. You have a good view of the stage. There's a parking garage directly behind the venue. That usually has a deal for the venue that gives you parking up until three in the morning for ten dollars, which is nice when other places, can charge up to ten dollars for an hour of parking in the area. So if you're ever in the Charleston area and you have a chance to watch a show at the Charleston music hall, I highly recommend it, whether you're a local or tourist alike. It's a great experience!

We've been here quite a few times for different shows. Well-staffed great seats. Always a good time

Google
Been here for a few times for comedy shows and I am always impressed with how well staffed they are. There is always someone friendly and ready to help you no matter where you are. Lines for entry, security, bars and bathroom move quickly. Parking garage next door is so helpful to help enjoy a Charleston venue without the stress of Charleston parking. There’s not a bad seat in the house.

Yelp
Great place to listen to music. It is not overpriced and the seats are comfortable. The seats and aisles are small though. Parking is easy and everyone that works there is super friendly. Drinks and snacks are not overly priced and they have a great NA selection. The acoustics could be better. It has open ceilings so it does echo a bit if you're in the balcony.

Yelp
We love concerts at Charleston Music Hall. It is a great setting and the staff is very friendly. Something great to do when in Charleston or make it a destination when one of your favorite artists happens to be in town.

Yelp
I saw Switchfoot here and was impressed with every aspect of the venue. First off I like the front row and I was pleasantly surprise at how great it sounded in the front! The floor is slated so even if you're in the back of the standing area you can see ok. The lighting was good and it didn't smell weird like some old venues. The location is great, near lots of delicious restaurants and bars. I recommend the "small bar" in the next door alley way for delicious pre show meal. The staff was helpful and very nice! They all seemed like they liked their jobs. The drinks inside were not outrageously priced.

Yelp
Came here last minute to check out a show called "American Jukebox." The parking is challenging because there's limited street parking, and the garage is very tight but there is better availability. There was a nice bar there with some good drink options. Nicely air conditioned but not too cold and the seating was ample. Wow what a great production! Very talented team there and the directors have a brilliant mind. There was good music, good acting, good comedic moments and the dancers are amazing. I can't wait to check out their Christmas show!

Yelp
I've seen two shows here this year and both of them rocked. The first show was the Allman Betts band, where we had front row seats! This was obviously... seated. The second show, Local Natives, however, had GA tickets so I guess they take all the seats out for certain events. Great show and ticket prices were very reasonable for how cool the event was. Didn't try the food but the beers were cold!

Yelp
Amazing venue... Not a bad seat in this house of about twelve hundred seats (my estimation)... Plus they have shows now with the new seats that can be standing room only in the front with seated views under the balcony overhang as well as in the balcony. They have brought so many fantastic shows and headliners to Charleston in the years past... Can't wait to see what next year's lineup will bring. I do love when the tickets were slightly less expensive but appreciate what they've don't with the revamp to modify for different acts for different folks and diverse offerings, so kudos! I've always had excellent service with the staff and box office! Quite possibly my favorite venue in Charleston!

Yelp
Just an excellent and historical venue to enjoy a concert in intimate surroundings. They recently upgraded some of their services which included offering "box seats" with concierge service. We loved it. No need to go to the bar for snacks or refreshments. Just use your phone, make your choices and in minutes orders arrive. The seats were roomy, spread out and had drink holders. The acoustics were excellent, so was access in and out of the venue. We so look forward to enjoying more concerts here in the future.

Yelp
I visited the music hall during "The Rat King" dance musical, supporting our niece, Layla. It's Charleston so I cannot complain about the traffic lol. It wasn't too hard to get to and parking wasn't too bad either. The music hall is nice, small and quaint. I loved it! It wasn't overcrowded and I appreciated the security. They were on point with check in. Concessions and food were ok. The prices weren't over the top. We thoroughly enjoyed the event and would love to come back next year even if our niece isn't dancing.

Yelp
Charleston Music Hall is the ideal size to enjoy an intimate production experience. It's an old old building with lots of character & ornate decor. We saw Tom Papas and our seats were close to the stage. A perfect spot but even if seated further back the acoustics are so good along with the intimacy, no such thing as a bad seat. We only had drinks & popcorn so I really can't comment on the food. It's a very cool spot for a Performing Arts Center. Check out the shows on offer & treat yourself. I'll definitely be back. Lots of parking garages nearby along with the bustle of nearby King St with many restaurants & bars.

Yelp
Great small place for shows, the sound was great. Not a bad seat in the place, will go here again

Yelp
A wonderfully engaging night at the Charleston Music Hall, a good venue for all manners of music. We saw a great show there on Saturday, February 19th by Kenny Wayne Shepherd about whom I cannot say enough as he is the best living electric blues guitar player. His six-piece band was out of this world, including Chris "Whipper" Layton on the drums, which he had played as part of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. The addition of the sax and trumpet to go along with the keyboard player was what put this band fully over the top. The lead on act of Ally Venable, a 22-year-old young lady from Texas has a lot of promise, as her electric blues guitar playing was quite good, her singing a bit sketchy at times and her amp was loudly distorting. She came back on and played when KWS was playing, and sounded so very, very much better when plugged into KWS' amps.

Yelp
This was my first time here. We saw ZoSo. Great all time band. Glad to get a seat up in the balcony but the sound is great regardless of where you are sitting. Bathrooms are clean. Take a minute to look at all the musician pictures on the wall of who has played there and you'll see some of the greats. Cost is reasonable. About $35 a ticket after fees and taxes. Note it's a cash free venue with a beer, wine, seltzer bar. They sell water and sodas too. Pretzels, popcorn, and chips. Once the shows over, walk around downtown, go to the piano bar, or grab a bite to eat.

Yelp
It has only been a week since we were here and we are back! This time for the 7pm show We loved so much that we decided to come back and bring a couple of friends even if we are not seating together. We got the last four seats and we are spread all over the theater but who cares because the show is so good that we can chat during the intermission

Shaunteca S.

Yelp
This is one of the best concert venues I've been to. No one was rushing you or pushy. The staff was considerate. Also when I got downtown Charleston my phone's Internet was moving extremely slow and my tickets wouldn't download. The staff member that was scanning tickets let me know that if I gave the staff member at the window my name she would she would be able to print my tickets. I gave lady at the box window my name, and my tickets were printed almost immediately. Both staff members were smiling and did not seem annoyed, which was so refreshing. I live just outside of Charlotte but would love to come back for another event.

Yelp
Although, i have never had the pleasure to go inside the Charleston Music Hall or even be in Charleston, SC, i bought tickets to watch humorist Jeanne Robertson via live stream. She was performing at the music hall and i am very happy it not only allowed people to watch her, while being socially distant, but also watch her in the comfort of their own homes. Wonderful idea and the live stream worked very well, i only lost about three minutes of the act since i lost connection at the very beginning when she was being introduced. Jeanne Robertson was hilarious! That was to be expected as she has become one of my go to people to help me have a good laugh. i first saw a show by her when i won tickets to see her at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert, OH. My family and i also follow her on youtube, and have watched so many of her videos. She is amazing! Although a good number of the material she used i heard during her time here in Ohio, they were still side splitting funny a second time. She also had some material i had not heard before, so it was a good mix for me. I have to say i hope she comes back again to my town, as i would love to have a good laugh again. Wonderful live stream experience! Thankful to both Jeanne Robertson and Charleston Music Hall for a wonderful and humorous evening!

Yelp
We always enjoy events here! We attended the Yeti movies event tonight and really enjoyed the movies. Wish we would have won some of the awesome Yetis they gave away!

Yelp
The music hall was easy to get to. There was plenty of parking close by in the garage. There was a generous amount of seating, but not too much. The bathroom was clean. The seating was comfortable. I would recommend a viewing here. Our seats were section G, row 3 seats 2,3,and 4. These were amazing seats. You could see clearly, no obstacles, no bright lights in your face, and they were close to an exit.

Yelp
This is a smaller venue, and we love it. The acoustics are incredible. We went to a fundraiser here at the end of 2019, an annual MUSC fundraiser I think, and a variety of different entertainers performed. Alison Kraus made a surprise appearance as well, can't beat that. We also saw OAR here, and they have lots of very instrumental songs. The sound was amazing. We did have some very noisy neighbors, who seemed to think they should talk the whole time. The beverage options here vary from craft beer to sparkling stuff to soft drinks. They took touchpay, Apple Pay, credit and cash.

Yelp
We are so lucky to have this venue in the heart of our downtown area. The vibe is nostalgic with the old style velour seats and they're very comfortable. After attending several different kinds of shows here, its seems there is not a bad seat in the house. The acoustics are great and they offer a bar at each level offering beer, wine and snacks. Just had the pleasure of attending Puddles Pity Party and it was so much fun. The intimate setting at CMH makes it such an pleasant experience with the performers close enough to enjoy without having to rely on a jumbo tv screen. It's so nice to know you won't have to fight the crowd and push your way through to get a glimpse of the performers you paid good money to see. Seats are assigned and that spot belongs to you for the duration of the event. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Each time I attend an event here I leave looking forward to the next.

Yelp
5 star great seats, plenty of leg room, great sound, not blowing your ears out, viewing from main floor and balcony is great too.. wine is $11, and they offer doubles ($20), beer $8, i think they offer food even the restrooms were clean. great staff too many greats in this review, but i really liked this venue plan your parking.. its very tricky

Yelp
First off, the Charleston Music Hall is probably the most diverse venue in Charleston. The location is amazing, right in the heart of Charleston with tons of food options in walking distance to indulge before or after an event. I have attended movies, concerts, and stage productions and can honestly say, there is not a bad seat in the house. Most recently I had the pleasure to attend the Charlestion Christmas Special. A local production with local performers. Everything about the performance was amazing. The dancers, singers, and actors were all extremely talented. Regardless of the event, you can't go wrong with the Charleston Music Hall.

Yelp
We came here last night to see Red and Starset. I saw Starset in 2019 at the Music Farm and I much prefer CMH venue! I loved that there were seats for general admission. I had no clue what to expect when coming here so I told my 9 year old daughter that there was a possibility we'd have to stand the whole time (in which she was not ecstatic about). The staff here was so helpful too. The bands put on a great show. Sound was great and we loved being able to sit. I'd for sure come here again. If a favorite band was playing at Music Farm, I'd have to pass, but If they came here, I would come in a heartbeat.

Yelp
My first visit to Charleston Music hall was for a PMJ show. I went somewhere else for drinks before the show because I did not know they offered bar service at the lobby but now that i know , I will probably get a drink there. The place is really nice and the ushers and everyone was really nice and kind. Great place to catch a show in town. Parking at the visitor center is convenient and they have a $5 open time if you arrive after 5pm. Beats trying to find a spot downtown!
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome facility for live music. Not a bad seat in the house. Even the balconies are excellent seats..
google avatar

Syndee D.

Yelp
All my years of living here and I had never been to an event here. I am so glad I went to see the Christmas spectacular. The show was entertaining and did not expect it to be as funny as it was. I appreciated the COVID protocol, the atmosphere was perfect in that it was not overwhelming, not to loud, they had an intermission, and food. The staff were friendly and I cannot wait tongo to another show.
google avatar

Heidi J.

Yelp
We saw Dusty Slay tonight and it was fantastic! The building is nice and apparently the seats are new. I'd love to see a concert there...they have a lot of events scheduled!
google avatar

Erik B.

Yelp
Great place to see a concert. Highly recommended it a top notch concert!!! The venue is a perfect size for an intimate concert
google avatar

Lori J.

Yelp
I saw Shakey Graves at Charleston Music Hall. Balcony has an amazing view. Front lower seats were removed for GA, and it looks like the people in the back seats which weren't removed ended up going to GA anyway. Light show was fantastic. Venue itself nothing special, but they host a great variety of shows and parking only one block away
google avatar

Yelp
Another CMH review from me....saw "The Mavericks Band" Sunday Mar-24...1st They were in fine form, Welcomed the audience, Fine rhythms that touch the Soul, Musicians most excellent, Peeps dancing in the aisles, Raul Malo's voice...OMG! CMH in my opinion is da-BEST concert venue in SC, great acoustics, Vino by da-glass or bottle, clean bathrooms and close to a few excellent restaurant-bars for professional consumers of spirits.

Yelp
A superstar venue in Charleston, South Carolina. Led by a team that believes in diversity of events, talent and interests (From Lebowskifest to The Exorcist with Live Orchestra to acts like Colin Hay and Cyndi Lauper, this venue brings in some of the absolute best entertainment in Charleston. Open to fund raisers, major artists, comedy, film and so much more, the Charleston Music Hall is a mecca of culture. The seating and acoustics are without compromise. Top notch. The balcony offers great views and a feeling of nostalgia. The upstairs lounge is perfect for entertaining private events. With two bar areas, one on each floor, you don't have to go far for a drink. The box office has an indoor area and "drive through" window. This is an incredible venue and one that everyone should experience.

Yelp
My wife and I came here last week to see Kevin Smith show off his Jay & Silent Bob Reboot movie. I ordered the tickets back in November, and our seats were three rows behind the AV booth. Luckily, the row in front of us either never sold, or they didn't make it because of the flu. Seats are pretty comfortable and there was enough leg room for this tall guy and his wife. Sound quality is great too. Getting in to the venue was very easy too with the visitor center parking garage about a block away. Security was friendly with the usage of their wands, and we were scanned in rapidly with time to spare. There's not a lot of room for the merchandise counter in the lobby with the bar right there too, but everyone made it through safely and without an issue, because of courtesy and common sense.
google avatar

Layton M.

Yelp
A classy, and pristine venue. Saw Robert Earl Keen play here on his last tour. Staff is nice. However, I wish they served liquor. Overall, a great place to see a concert.

Yelp
Just saw the best concert of my life here tonight. "An evening with NEEDTOBREATHE", all acoustic, and oh so intimate. This beautiful theater holds a little under 1000 people. We sat in section E, row 15 and still felt close enough to reach out and touch them. Well, if I walked up to the stage perhaps, but you get what I mean. I'm used to huge venues. I've been to Woodstock '99, JazzFest a few times, and plenty others including indoor shows. Truly, nothing beats small scale, especially when it's a band who has changed your life like NTB has for me. Charleston Music Theater has hosted some great concerts in the past couple years. I'm on their email list now and only wished I lived anywhere near here. I drove 800+ miles to get here tonight and only wish I had bought tickets for NTB's other two performances here this week. The setting was unreal, and I spoke with many people who said the same thing. For such a huge band to settle down and play such a small venue gives you this high on life feeling like you're great friends with the band members. But I digress if I continue talking about my love for NTB, so... If you live in this area, you must go see some of the great shows coming up here. If you don't, it's worth the drive. Especially if it's a band you really like. They serve alcoholic beverages, and you can snuggle in and sit down and enjoy some great music. I heard one person compare the sound to another venue and how much better the other venue was, but she wasn't complaining and neither am I. Charleston Music Hall is walking distance to other great sites in downtown Charleston. Plenty of nice and reasonable hotels to stay at nearby too, so just park your car and enjoy the fresh Charleston air. Walk on up the steps and in the doors to Charleston Music Hall to relax and enjoy a great performance as we did tonight.

Yelp
This venue hands down is one of the best venues I've been to concert wise! My dad and I went and saw The Struts here and everything was a breeze and it gave me a very intimate feeling! I loved every minute of it and it was a great way to start off with my first concert back since COVID hit!
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
Came from out of town for the Jump Little Children show. Was very happy with the venue. The ushers were all kind and helpful, had a good selection of drinks and the parking was easy. There are a few garages but we ended up parking on the street. Our seats were first row balcony which I think probably had the best view and sound quality. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here for another show.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
We've seen a few things here now and we always have a blast! The staff is VERY particular about each person sitting in their exact seat, but you can always shuffle people in your party around once they walk away. The seats are very comfortable and there doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the place! They have a bar with a few wine and beer offerings if that's your thing. Recently, it's been a bit hot inside but I'm sure that fluctuates throughout the year!
google avatar

Shelby B.

Yelp
There are several great music venues in Charleston, but the Music Hall tops the list. This place manages to toe the line between offering a seated venue, yet keeping the crowd active enough to have dancing and a casual feel during the performance. I have seen numerous shows here and have never been disappointed in the show, seats, or atmosphere! A tip for those looking for a free show: If you show up a couple hours early and wear black, you can sign up to be an usher. You get a name badge, a quick run down of your duties, and all you have to do is show people to their seats for the first hour or so. You get to see the show for free and even get a free beer!

John P.

Yelp
Great time! Just saw Boney James and Band... Fantastic!!! What a great place to see a show downtown.

Yelp
Charleston Music Hall is one of my favorite event and performance venues in the Charleston area. The hall is the perfect size as not matter where you sit or stand you are going to get a good view. I have also had a chance to be on stage for an event and it was a really cool experience. This place is well managed and organized and everything runs smoothly even with sold out events that are packed out. I like the drink and bar areas available and it really adds to the venue. Each event I have attended here has been memorable and enjoyable.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to see Gary Gulman for an 8pm show on a Sunday Evening. The show was excellent. We had the cheap seats near the back but still a good view with good sound quality. I really think this is a good venue for a comic. I will be back. Brian Regan comes up soon and might try it. I think the ushers are ok. I know they use volunteers but they seem to take it too seriously. They're good but not really organized too well and a little much. Overall a great spot for a show.
google avatar

Jen P.

Yelp
This is a quaint venue in the heart of Charleston. It isn't a mega-venue, so don't expect to find headliners here. But, it's a great venue for small shows. I love the spaciousness between rows of seats. For once, a venue allowed me to stretch my legs a bit. There is little in the way of a lobby, so I don't recommend arriving too early to this venue. Ten minutes or so before the start of the show will give you plenty of time to find your seat and get ready for the show.
google avatar

Jackie M.

Yelp
Great venue! Every seat gives perfect view, sound is amazing.. love the intimate, close-to-the-performers setting!!! Beer, wine, snacks available. Music Hall close to great restaurants and plenty of nearby parking. Am looking for another show to go to here..soon!
google avatar

Erika W.

Yelp
I attended a showing of the documentary "All Things Must Pass" here the other night. I had no idea they even had a film series and I think I'm not alone, because the place wasn't packed, which is a shame because people were missing out on a great film. The screen and sound quality were great. The seats were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. There was a snack area/bar but I didn't stop to check it out. Great night, can't wait to check out more of the upcoming films.

Yelp
This may be my favorite music venue in Charleston. Acoustics /sound is great in this seated theater, and it has been playing host to some amazing bands, from Charleston's very own Shovels and Rope, which sold out three nights in a row, to one of our city's biggest fans, Alabama boy Jason Isbell. I offer 4 stars since tickets are a little pricey... $70/ticket after fees for the 90's band Indigo Girls, and the word gets out on the presales--despite logging on immediately at 10AM, because of high volume crashing the website I missed out on awesome seats for Greg Allman. The ushers do a great job of keeping things in check, since you did pay a pretty penny for a great view from any seat in this venue. Keep bringing the bands and I'll keep supporting the hall!
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
My favorite music venue so far in town. The seating is comfortable and they do an excellent job with both acoustics and lighting. I've been here for movies as well as performances. This picture was from a live music/dance event. It's nice because you can order food or drinks and bring them into the theatre.
google avatar

Veronica R.

Yelp
Love the Music Hall. A small venue with great sound. They also serve beer and wine even by the bottle if you wish. They offer such a variety of music, comedy, and movies. There is not a bad seat in the house my friends. We saw Lake Street Dive and they were amazing. The sound quality was dead on. So if you get the chance to catch a concert there you will enjoy yourself. There are lots of restaurants all around it for a dinner before or dancing after at several places on King St. Parking is easy, there is a garage around the corner from the venue. Check the show listings out online.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
No bad seat in this venue! Seats are comfortable. Great selection of beer. They have Edmunds oast brewing company on tap and the nebula ipa is the bomb! Glad they updated to finally accept credit cards so don't have to use the atm on site. Many good shows seen here!
google avatar

Scotty C.

Yelp
First time here but I have to agree with Joy S that this is a great place. Acoustics are great and it does lend itself to a more intimate show. They get fantastic artists here for their concert series that you won't find anywhere else. I'm looking forward to more shows here and will update after.

Yelp
Got free tickets to see a bluegrass concert, so I ended up at Charleston Music Hall with some friends. Bluegrass is certainly not my thing, but live music is OK, so I figured why not. The venue itself is great. Spacious, comfortable, and sound great. The staff had no issues with me bringing an outside coffee in, and my friends were happy to buy some decent beers at the bar for the concert. Seems like a very laid back theatre. I dig it!
