Charmgang - Atlas Obscura

"Booking ahead is essential at this perennially packed spot. If you do miss out on scoring a table, two new siblings—Charmkrung and Charmkok—by the same team have recently opened a few blocks away. They both serve a slightly more casual menu that pairs well with their extensive drink lists." - Atlas Obscura

Charmgang - Review - Silom - Bangkok - The Infatuation

"Charmgang is the perfect restaurant for groups in Bangkok. There’s enough room to spread out, the space has that signature cool kid energy (yes, there’s an open kitchen), and the cocktails—which often feature mekhong, a Thai spirit made from sugar cane and rice—are all really interesting and good. Not to mention they’ll happily add on an extra koji-aged picanha skewer or duck wafer—so everybody can get their own—without upcharging you. Definitely get those two dishes, along with some tender pork jowl salad with sour mango and any curry they have on the menu. photo credit: Carlo Mantuano photo credit: Carlo Mantuano photo credit: Carlo Mantuano" - Carlo Mantuano

The 38 Best Restaurants in Bangkok, Thailand | Eater

"In spite of its location in a dimly lit back alley, Charmgang (loosely translatable to “curry bowl”) has quietly gained a loyal following based on word of mouth over the past three years. Run by a trio of chefs who once worked under David Thompson at Michelin-starred Nahm, the menu — which changes every month — features Thai dishes that have been tweaked to evolve with the times. As a result, you get inventive appetizers like grilled scallop salad on rice crackers and an ever-evolving array of chile dips. Of course, the curries are reliably delicious." - Chawadee Nualkhair

Charmgang

"A young crowd sips on cocktails in this trendy hangout, where the décor and lighting render a ruddy hue. The smart menu uses local ingredients to create interesting new textures while preserving Thai authenticity. The barbeque smoked pork with young mango salad is a tasty creation; the crunchy, sour fruit hitting it off with crispy shallots and cha-muang leaves. The seared scallop on crispy coconut milk cupcake has a moist texture with crisp snow peas." - Michelin Inspector

The Closet Tenor

Cosy, casual contemporary Thai eatery off a side alley in Bangkok’s old Chinatown area. The food, served out of an open kitchen, is justifiably good and a refreshing modern take on traditional Thai and Thai street food. The open kitchen takes center stage, with ingredients spread out enticingly for all to admire and inspire curiosity, which the staff gladly indulge. The not over-long menu (always a good sign) packs bold, punchy flavours. The kingfish fillet in yellow curry went down well, as did the pork jowl salad, the beef cheek curry, the crab omelette and the stir-fried veg (not as boring as it sounds). Desserts also didn’t fail to please - we liked the pumpkin “pancake” with syrupy pumpkin slivers. Warm, attentive service.

We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel staff and boy did it deliver. The food was delicious, the flavours amazing. The portion sizing great. We got multiple dishes to share (missed getting photos of them all as we were too busy enjoying the food). The staff were friendly and attentive, we had a bottle of wine and never had to top our glasses up, as they were always on top of it..

The curries are excellent; the crab omelette was ok but we have had better elsewhere. Good food quality, taste and at reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and efficient. Well worth a few visits to try everything on the menu.

A Michelin Bib Gourmand spot tucked behind that iconic red door—Charmgang serves up comforting Thai soul food that hits in all the right places 💥 Definitely recommend making a reservation and going early if you’re like us and enjoy a quiet moment before the rush 😌⁣ ⁣ 🤍 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐩 𝐎𝐧 𝐂𝐮𝐩𝐜𝐚𝐤𝐞 - THB320⁣ Seared to perfection with a touch of smokey sauce, crunchy long beans, and a juicy pomelo wedge on the side. Unexpected combo but it worked!⁣ ⁣ 🦐 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧𝐬 & 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞 - THB750⁣ Tangy, sour, and totally reminded us of assam. Prawns were fresh with a satisfying bite, and the rose apple was a refreshing touch 🍏⁣ ⁣ 🐄 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 - THB590⁣ Not spicy but so rich and flavourful. Beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the curry had that thick, luscious texture 😮‍💨⁣ ⁣ 🥩 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐊𝐨𝐣𝐢-𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐡𝐚 𝐒𝐤𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 - THB650⁣ Smokey, juicy, and full of umami. Loved the slight heat from the sauce and the pickled papaya on the side for that tangy contrast⁣ ⁣ 🦀 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐎𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 - THB530⁣ Soft-set eggs, fresh crab, crunchy bean sprouts. Just a tiny bit of shell in ours, but flavour-wise it was still a hit⁣ ⁣ 🥥 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐭 𝐏𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐤𝐞 - THB270⁣ Loved the shape of the crepe and how it tasted like heaven. Shredded coconut layered in the crepe cake, mango ice cream topped with rice crisps, plus candied pineapple and pumpkin on the side = chef’s kiss 🥭⁣ ⁣ Charmgang really lives up to the hype—Thai flavours done soulfully and with finesse. Would go back in a heartbeat! 🫶🏻

This place was recommended to us by a chef friend in India and we managed to get a late dinner in. This is a popular place, so it is well recommended to book in advance or try your luck at the door(like we did) The space is small and charming and the vibe is impossibly hip and classy. They have daily specials, but otherwise their menu is limited, which is a good thing. We ordered the scallop cupcake starter which was recommended and split a kingfish curry and crab omelette. The scallop was delightful, fresh and delicate on a pasty shell filled with a savoury-sweet creamy sauce, which elevated the dish. What a great mouthfeel it was. Wish there were more! Ha The crab omelette was amongst the many we tried in the city and it was pretty decent, if not the best. This has a nice crunch thanks to the spouts added to the crab meat. The kingfish, unfortunately, I did not see the 3 chilly sign and it was a shock to my tongue! Lol. Once I got over the initial sting, once mixed with rice, it was very flavourful and different. My partner who loves all things spicy, enjoyed it very much and in fact used the curry to spice up the Omelette! We didn't have desserts, but they gave us these tartlets, which were delicious and reminded me of sweet paniarams/neiappams back home in south india. Service was friendly and professional. Surely a place to try elevated Thai dishes.

Google
not the cheapest restaurant but had a great meal at Charmgang for my husband’s birthday! the staff recommended patiently and the fish dish was damn good!!! see picture. the rest was 7/10. prawn dish tasted like assam laksa sauce, did not give wow factor for me (because i had assam before) but i think will be a great choice for others!!

Charmgang is a modern Thai restaurant offering extraordinary flavors with a creative twist on rare classic dishes. Dishes are served Thai-style, meaning they come with rice, making for a balanced and satisfying meal. Portions are on the smaller side, so larger parties may want to double up. Parking is difficult, and the restaurant is usually fully booked—reservations are suggested. Highly recommend the scallops special appetizer, braised beef phanaeng curry, sugar cane smoked pork jowl salad with southern sour mango, and the Thai caramel rice bar with banana and toasted coconut ice cream! A true gem for lovers of refined Thai cuisine.

Excellent food. Mind blowing curry. This place is hidden inside an alley, couldn’t even tell that it’s in there. But the food is bloody awesome! The server sensing that I wanted to try everything they had to offer, recommended a tasting menu. True enough it had a bit of everything! Well worth it!
