The Peking duck here is absolutely amazing!👍 The whole presentation is very impressive! The duck skin is perfectly roasted，golden and crispy.While the meat is tender and juice！ The side dishes are also well done, from grilled items to steamed dishes, all tasting authentic and thoughtfully prepared. The table feels complete and satisfying from start to finish.❤️ The environment is clean and comfortable! It's a great spot for gatherings with friends or family. Highly recommended if you're craving authentic Chinese Local specialty!

Blow up the seafood quality of this restaurant! The serving size for four people is tightly controlled, the scallops and steamed eggs are tender enough to slide down the throat, and the sea bass is fully cooked. Whether it's crispy or boiled, they are so fresh that your tongue trembles! Not only is the food good, but the staff in the store also have a great service attitude and treat every customer like a family. I will come back to this store again next time!

A very cozy and earnest place with authentic Chinese food in the form of small bites and classic dishes. The duck was super succulent and came with cucumber, scallion and traditional Chinese wraps. We also had the lamb and beef skewers which were so tender and flavorful! Definitely one of my favorites. Saw lots of people who also dug into the hot pot and the grilled bass stewed in the big trays which also looked amazing. Will definitely be trying those next time around. All in all a hidden gem with unassuming vibes but very cute decor (and funny! If you're in the private room in the back 😉). The plating and dishes are creative while still staying true to their roots.

As someone who grew up in Beijing and has eaten enough roast duck to tell which type of wood was used for the fire, I’ve long stopped expecting to find real Beijing roast duck in New York. Too many places copy the form but lose the soul: the fire isn’t right, the technique isn’t there, the duck isn’t roasted through properly — and what ends up on the plate is all style, no substance. But the roast duck I had today made me speak up: this is, in the truest sense, Beijing roast duck that actually tastes like Beijing. Not only is it faithfully executed, but the consistency and professionalism are impressive — and in many details, it’s even more than some of the places I’ve been to back in Beijing.

1. The Peking Duck is amazing—possibly the best in New York. Everything is made-to-order and fresh (not pre-made), so it takes some time to serve, but it’s worth the wait. 2. The lamb skewers are very authentic; you can really taste that unique aroma from the wooden skewers. 3. The chocolate animal ice cream is impressive in both taste and presentation. 4. The service is excellent, making for a very pleasant dining experience. It is sad to see that many of my favorite NYC restaurants have closed since the pandemic. I truly hope Chef Huang keeps up its high standards and continue to thrive!

Small restaurant with delicious food. We came for the half pecking duck that did not disappoint! The beef rib with the flaky and crispy crust blew us away though. The garlic steamed bok choy was also very tasty. It was probably the most delicious meals I’ve ever had!

I was walking home from work with my partner and we weren’t even that hungry, but we haven’t had good packing duck in the city and once we saw this place busy cute with an amazing name we knew we had to go in The service was great. They couldn’t see right away, but it was a short 10 minute wait the staff is very attentive very on top of it. We weren’t hungry, so we just ordered only the Peking Duk however everything looked so good. I want to order so much more but trying to eat later these days. We also ordered a side of duck soup, which was only two dollars Everything hit all the right spots the soup and the pecking duck were absolutely perfect. I loved everything so much that will go back and I wanna go back and try other things and maybe even order more duck. I can’t express how happy I am but it’s on my overall happiness listso five stars all the way go try this place out.

SOLD OUT. We had a reso at 915pm. Arrived at 920. Was told that last call for food was at 930pm. We were there for Peking duck, so quickly placed that followed by soup dumplings and lamb skewers. Was told soup dumplings will take 15mins. That’s fine thinking it’ll be nice and fresh but the young server returned and said it was SOLD OUT. Peking duck was average. I’ve had plenty of PD and this one wasn’t as fresh. Wraps were light and extremely thin. Plenty of garnishes to go with it. Was tempted to ask for more wraps but then we might be told it’s sold out lol. It became a running joke after I asked for a bowl of rice at 944pm for our lamb skewers. “Sorry, it’s SOLD OUT.” Unbelievable. An Asian restaurant that’s open till 10pm have rice sold out. Glad we only got two dishes because I’m sure everything is sold out because it’s too much for its kitchen staff to cook anything for their patrons. Staff were putting on their coats before guests were done eating - before 10pm. We were out the door by 10pm looking for another place to eat. To make matters worse, the other table was continuously arguing about how one came late and now everything was SOLD OUT and need to order by 930, etc. ruined the ambiance for us the entire 40mins we were there. Lack of attentiveness from staff as they were occupied by the arguing couple. Sick children in the dining area, constantly sneezing behind our table. Cute decor, giving more French/brunch vibe than Peking duck vibe lol. Bathroom is surprisingly clean which is good. I’m sad I cancelled our 930 reso at Jiang Nan for this place. Came here for the higher rating but we were disappointed with our visit and first Peking Duck in the city. Maybe an earlier visit would make a better experience. I’d recommend to tell your customers what’s sold out on your menu so they can decide to go elsewhere.

Chef Huang perfected their peking duck recipe! I had a reservation and came late! We called ahead and the server was so understanding. The place is homey and simple. It has moodier lighting, but everything was clean and beautifully decorated. We were seated and started to place our order. The servers were efficient and the food came out fairly quick! The Beef Brisket dish was not my favorite, nothing too special. But the Beef Rib dish was the best bite of the night! Definitely get this one, it's like if a Beef Wellington and a Rib had a baby, it was tender, flaky, delicious! Their Xiao Long Baos had a bit of a thicker wrap, but the filling was good. The noodles and veggies were also great, not too oily at all. The peking duck was also delicious! The duck itself was not fatty (which is often an issue) and we got refills of the veggies and wrapper! For dessert, my favorite was the fried tongyuan, it was so crispy and warm. The chocolate truffle was also good, very decadent. Overall I had a great time and would recommend!

I walked past this peking duck spot and was curious so I looked it up on yelp, saw all the great reviews, and immediately bookmarked it. So when my family was in town, I suggested ordering a duck from Chef Huang to pick up for dinner. We called to confirm how long it would take to prepare and they said it would be closer to 20 minutes, so don't be thrown off by the long wait time indicated on the menu for duck. At $88 for a duck I probably won't be picking up duck for myself too often (but I wish I could!). The duck was perfectly cooked with a good ratio of skin (which is perfectly crispy) to meat and comes with plenty of pancakes. We did not eat at the restaurant, but I liked that it seemed more upscale than say, a restaurant in Chinatown, but still low key.

Authentic spot for family-style chinese food in the city! Stir-fried pea shoots, Peking duck, and mapo tofu were my favorite dishes. Service was good, dishes were all very solid. Slightly more upscale vibe than your average chinese restaurant.

Chef Huang is a great local spot that is worth discovering! Their Peking duck is absolutely delicious and sets the bar high! All of their dishes are wonderful and the staff are very kind and attentive. They take great care to make every dish delicious! The spot is also very cozy and a wonderful ambiance! My parents are from Italy and usually only eat Italian food when out, but they love it here!

The only way to celebrate Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year for all you PC folks) is with a big group, so that's what we did at Chef Huang. 'Twas 'sokay. We got a lot of food, so I won't laundry list everything, just group them for your reviewing pleasure: The Great: House Special BBQ Lamb Kebab (so good we got it twice)) The Good: Pork Ribs Shanghai Style, Crispy Salt Roasted Boneless Sea Bass, Sauteed Pea Shoots with Garlic, Fried Sweet Tang Yuan The Meh: Mashed Garlic Cucumbers, Sauteed Shanghai Vegetables with Garlic House Special Noodles, House Special Big Mouth Bass with Vegetables, Chef Special Crispy Boneless Chicken Steak (suuuuper dry), Animal Ice-Cream (not chocolate, boo!) Bottom line: It's not bad if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

A very solid peking duck restaurant. Came here to catch up with two of my other friends and one of them chose this location having been here several times. So, I heavily relied on them to do the ordering and I just enjoyed my time. The main dish was the Chef Huang No1 Peking Duck w Special Duck Soup ($88). This was a whole duck and they bring it out already sliced. I thought they'd bring the duck out and slice it in front of you, but wasn't the case here. The duck is as good as advertised. Don't sleep on the duck soup either as that was also delicious. We also ordered this Steamed Eggs with Scallops dish, which was also really good, but was more than enough with just the peking duck order.

One of the most memorable meals I've had in a while! What a hidden gem! We put ourselves on the Yelp waitlist on a weekday evening, and it said there were 14 parties in front of us, but when we called the restaurant, they said there was an open table and to come right in! We were seated quickly, and the restaurant was indeed crowded for a weekday night. The focus on presentation here is a little gimmicky, but lends itself to an elevated experience, starting with a bubbling hand sanitizer that we had some fun with. We started with the mashed garlic cucumbers, which were solid. Very garlicky. Next came the BBQ lamb skewers, which came with 5 skewers on a mini grill. The skewers were cooked very well, and I liked that they provided a shaker of additional chili pepper to season as needed. This is certainly more expensive than buying individual lamb skewers from the cart in Chinatown, but I felt the meat was more high quality. My bf did note that it didn't have the same smoky char flavor as skewers cooked on a well-loved grill, though. We got the peking duck 1/2 portion, and I love that they have the option to order a smaller portion for smaller parties. This was presented beautifully. I liked that they provided very thin, chewy, crepe-like wrappers like those used in China, rather than fluffy bao buns. The duck was nice and crispy, and the toppings of cucumber and green onion were fresh. We had extra duck, and they even refilled our wrappers + toppings. Last, we got the beef ribs with crispy crust, which is akin to a beef wellington. The beef was extremely tender, and the crust was slightly sweet, although I was expecting something a little more light/flakey like a scallion pancake. I enjoyed this dish, but it felt the least "Chinese" and I don't think it's necessary to try. Next time, I would swap this out for the braised beef brisket. Overall, I had an amazing, authentic meal at Chef Huang! I can't wait to come back.

OMG! I walk by this place all the time. I have never gone in. I was meeting a few former coworkers for dinner tonight. We had great food, desserts, and amazing laughs. The Peking Duck, tofu, and fish are must-tries. The service is amazing, and we had a space to chat.

I was pleasantly surprised by Chef Huang, a Chinese restaurant specializing in Peking duck and Beijing cuisine in of all places, Murray Hill. This neighborhood feels pretty homogenous to me, and many of the bars and restaurants clientele reflect this. However, there is precedent for authentic Chinese food in the area (Little Alley), so this place shouldn't come too much as a surprise. I don't usually eat duck because I consider it a red meat, which is not part of my diet. But my dining companion prepared me what he described as a perfect bite, with the wrapper, thinly sliced cucumber, hoisin sauce, and duck with equal parts fat and meat. I can't deny the flavors: it was pretty good. The scallion pancake and pea shoots were also delicious, but the sleeper hit of the night for me was the smoked tofu salad, made with edamame and some other kind of chopped up green. I loved it, and would like to try making this dish at home. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but wouldn't be mad about trying more of their menu.

The servers accommodated us with tea while we waited and took our orders before being seated so we were served our food as soon as we sat down. The food was both delicious and presented aesthetically. Peking duck - I really love the thin flour wraps because I feel it is the perfect thickness to balance the fattiness of the duck, the crunch of the cucumbers, the garlicky addition of scallions, and the sweetness of the hoisin sauce. Most other places serve buns as the wrap which I find can be too thick and doughy. Overall, this places gives cozy, comforting, and wholesome vibes. No wonder we had to wait so long to eat here! People just don't want to leave.

My friends and I came here for dinner early at around 5 PM so it was pretty empty still. We did family style and shared Mashed Garlic Cucumbers, Peking Duck, Slow Cooking Beef Ribs with Crispy Crust and Sauted Peashoots with Garlic. Overall, the food was great! Our favorite was the beef ribs - it was very unique and came with pineapple. The peking duck was pretty good, but not the best I've had in the city.

At dinner on a Sat. Evening at Chef Huang's, there were boisterous families gathering and the chef's wife was busy taking orders, and later passing out a homemade dessert for the Dragon Festival holiday in a modest sized dining room. Well-deserved reputation for really good Peking Duck at reasonable prices for half and full size orders. Hot spicy shrimp balls were tasty as were the pea shoots. One star off for a bathroom that could be cleaner but I'd still go back!

Very good Peking duck. Best in the area. The soup dumplings weren't too bad but just average overall. The fried fish was excellent. Perfectly crispy. The rice bowls are massive to be sure to share. It gets extremely busy for very limited staff so service can take long. It was also extremely hot inside.

Hands down the best Peking duck I've had in the U.S.! As someone from Beijing, I think the Peking duck here is the closest to the ones I've had in Beijing. I've tried several places in New York and the Bay Area, but nothing compares to the quality here. The duck is incredibly juicy and crispy, with perfectly caramelized skin that shatters with each bite, revealing tender and savory meat underneath. The flavor and texture are so rich and satisfying. Each bite melts in your mouth. The duck is served with delicate pancakes, fresh scallions, and a tangy-sweet hoisin sauce. The balance of crispy skin, succulent meat, and vibrant condiments creates a symphony of flavors that is both satisfying and addictive. Whether you're a Peking duck aficionado or simply love great food, Chef Huang's is a must-visit spot for Peking duck. I celebrated my birthday here and it was an amazing experience. The food was very delicious. It was a very creative take on Chinese food with authentic flavors. The restaurant was modern and comfortable. The staff were super friendly and nice. They don't have the annoying rule on how long you can dine there. Highly recommend it.

I found this place one night when trying to get a reservation at a Chinese restaurant but all the usual go to spots were full, and I'm honestly shocked why there isn't a line out the door. It's pretty hard to find a good Peking duck outside of Beijing, but this place definitely does it right at a pretty affordable price. We got the half Peking duck for $41 and I knew it was going to be spectacular the moment it got brought to our table. The skin was incredible crisp and the duck meat itself was tender and fatty. You can tell when a Peking duck is going to be good based on the little piece of skin they cut off and put on the side of the plate (in this case it was scintillating). We also got the beef rib in a crispy pancake crust for $38. The presentation was pretty eye opening with the whole rib bone placed on a cutting board, and the taste matched the presentation. I would have liked a tiny bit more of a portion given the price, but honestly in New York you could do a lot worse (and I have). Overall, this place is a real gem and I'm definitely going to go again!

Incredible food with an authentic yet contemporary regional Chinese inflection, exquisitely prepared and presented. Among the standouts are the succulent PEKING DUCK, BEEF RIBS WITH CRISPY CRUST (sort of an elevated pancake beef roll by way of beef Wellington), and BBQ LAMB KEBABS, but we were impressed with everything we tried, including several classic Shanghaiese appetizers/side dishes like SMOKED FISH, GLUTEN & MUSHROOMS, and VEG, BEAN CURD & EDAMAME. Even the humble SAUTEED NOODLES are a cut above! The discerning menu contains of many of our favorite Chinese dishes. Chef Huang's kitchen does it right! My toddler was even given his own little wooden plate. Next time we come back, we must get the adorable animal ice cream dessert. So cute.

I'm always trolling for new places to satisfy my Peking Duck addiction, so when Chef Huang's eatery came up on my Yelp feed I was really excited to try them. Made a rez on Yelp (recommended since it's a small place) and headed out for an early Saturday dinner. The Peking Duck was tender, a large portion and very tasty, although a mite too fatty for my tastes. The duck wasn't carved tableside nor wrapped up by staff, but as a do-it yourselfer I prefer it that way. Surprisingly the "whole" duck was not served with its tasty legs, never saw this before elsewhere. Did they escape the chef's knife? Hmmm.....Accompanying wrappers were paper thin, plum sauce tasty and not overly sweet. The order of whole duck comes with soup that was tasty and refreshing. Also had the stir fry pea shoots with garlic, sooo delicious and of course healthy. I wanted to get their famous chocolate animal shaped ice cream for dessert - especially looking forward to the shar pei shape - but sadly they were all out by 5:00PM on a Saturday so I made do with the green flower shaped mochi instead, 4 small pieces for $10.

We returned after having a good experience here a few years ago. The restaurant was quiet, making it a pleasant spot for conversation, and service was prompt. Lamb Skewers: Delicious and juicy, perfectly seasoned with salt and cumin, though slightly on the chewy side. Peking Duck: Flavorful and savory, served with nice thin crepes. However, the duck skin wasn't as crisp as expected -- it seemed more reheated than freshly roasted. The condiments were off. The green scallions looked dry and limp, and the cucumber wasn't very fresh, which was disappointing. Bok Choy: Very fresh and fragrant, with a nice touch of fried garlic. Some reviewers mentioned receiving complimentary soup with the Peking Duck. We were charged $2 per cup and weren't informed of any free soup option when ordering, which felt a bit insincere.

Food 5/5 This is a local favorirate restaruant. I feel like most people who have lived in Murray Hill or are living here have been here at least once. Most people came here for the Peking duck, so you better come here with the group. There's no way you can finish the duck on your own. It is one of the few things you have to order if you come here Ambiance 5/5 The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it has quite a few big tables. so again, This is a place better for big groups. I don't think I will ever come here by myself or order takeout. Service 5/5 I was welcomed when I came in. The food came quickly too. Would come back

Love it! The whole duck order came with a bowl of tofu and seaweed (?) soup, and they gave the leftovers so you can make another dish (soup or fried rice) on your own. The duck was tender & juicy, and skin was crispy (some) a flavorful. Definitely one of the best Peking ducks around. It wasn't cheap though - the order of a whole duck, with ingredients, wraps etc. was $88 plus tips and fees delivered. We got our money's worth for sure.

Very disappointed I know that duck meat is always fatty but this was extremely fatty. The dumplings were very average. The waiters were very polite but obviously they couldn't handle the regular restaurant and the party taking place in the back room

Visited here with a friend during what seemed like a slow lunch for the place. There was only one other large group when we arrived. We ordered the half peking duck, lamb kebabs and vegetable fried noodles. Honestly, this might've been one of the best peking ducks I've had. The duck was flavorful and the meat was juicy. The wrappers were as thin as crepes and for just half a duck, they gave more than enough for 2 people to share. I think I'm a fan of kebabs as the lamb kebabs here were tender and well seasoned. It came as 5 skewers over a small stone grill with 3 pieces on each stick. The vegetable fried noodles were a pretty big portion as well, next time I think I'll try the meat versions of this dish as it felt like something was misssing from the flavor profile...seafood or scallops would've been a great addition. The server was quietly attentive in refilling our water glasses through out our meal. The decor here doesn't really match what's on the menu. It gives off a French bakery vibe, both the exterior and interior. Restrooms are downstairs and have the decor of a flower garden.

As per many of my other recent reviews, I went here with one of my groups a while back with our host finding out about the spot thanks to the Fung Bros and I had informed him as I had passed by as I work pretty close. We ordered a bunch of dishes and overall it was quite good with a couple definite highlights. I don't think I got anything to drink (possibly a Wong Lo Kat/herbal tea or plum juice.) Staff was friendly and we used the room in back as well as another large table as I believe there were 20 of us. The menu here is an eclectic mix of Cantonese, Shanghainese, Northern Chinese/Xi'anese, and a few other things. They gave us some hand sanitizer which bubbled which was fun. The best dish of the night was the Chef's Special Beef Ribs with Crispy Crust (or alternatively listed as pancakes) which had 8 pieces which was $38. It reminded me a bit of a much more refined version of a crispy beef scallion pancake but the main difference here outside of the price was the amount of meat, how tender it was, and that the pancakes/crispy crust was more buttery almost with a French influence from the flaky pastry. Along with the nice presentation, it was served with some pineapple. I would recommend this heavily. We also got the House Special BBQ Lamb Kebab which comes with 5 pieces. This was $13 and the skewers were nice and meaty. This Northern Chinese dish had a good amount of cumin and had a nice presentation being served on top of a miniature grill and I would recommend it because the price is decent and the quality is there. We were going to order the Steamed Pork Crab Meat Soup Dumplings which has 6 pieces but they were out and got some Pork Ribs Shanghai Style which I don't see on the current menu but I presume would be under the appetizer section as it was smaller. The pork ribs had a sweet sauce very similar to Wuxi which would make sense based on the name. They could have been a bit meatier and less bony but the meat that was there was tender and I presume it was maybe $13 to $16. Our last of the appetizers/smaller dishes was the Vegetables, Dry Bean Curd and Edamame which is $10. This has a strong herbal flavor with a lot of scallion and there was some crunch from the edamame and a bit of chewiness from the bean curd. Overall, it was fine though there wasn't really a sauce so it was a bit bland so some of us added it to the duck soup (more on that later) so I would maybe order it as a side dish to have as a palette cleanser (possibly with the beef ribs or the braised brisket or duck.) The main star of the meal was supposed to be the Chef Huang No. 1 Peking Duck with Special Duck Soup. We got the whole which is $80 but they also have half for $41 which doesn't come with the soup. The duck was moderately meaty and pretty tasty with perhaps my only other complaint about it being that the skin could have been crispier and that the pancake was oddly thick compared to most other spots which made it a tad chewy but hey it didn't break as easily so I kind of didn't mind. The soup itself was bland and isn't really worth it I almost reminding me of an egg drop soup but at least it's better than some other spots which serve nothing and don't use the bones or carcass for any reason. It was served with it's usual accompaniments and I can see why people like it a lot even if it wasn't my favorite dish. Of the other mains, there was also Braised Beef Brisket with Crispy Pancake in a Pot which was $25. As per the name, this dish was served almost like a chicken pot pie but instead of the usual chicken was a mix of brisket which was flavorful but perhaps a bit chewy. The sauce had a strong semi-sweets five spice flavor with a bit of black pepper so if you're not a fan of star anise, you probably won't like this. The crust also doubles as a very good way of soaking up the sauce so I recommend breaking it and mixing it in to make it thick and tasty. I would also recommend it. We ended the meal with the Ice Cream Animals. They're presented in a variety of shapes and sizes and I believe we got a bunch of the large plates. They look like everything from the largest one looking like a Shar Pei and rabbits to smaller ones like sea cucumbers, mice, and a heart. and of all things. The animals and other things are made of either vanilla or chocolate ice cream and I believe some type of jelly to pull them together (possibly agar agar but I'm not sure.) It's a fun presentation and nice for Instagram but I'm not sure if it's worth it but hey it's better than the generic desserts you find in most Chinese spots so it's hard to fault them. While the duck was not my favorite, it was still certainly good and a couple of the other dishes (beef ribs, beef brisket, skewers) were outstanding. Even the dishes that weren't as good we're pretty reasonable for the price. I occasionally find that the Fung Bros over-exaggerate the food as they're trying to get business presumably for places but this one is quite good. Mid/low 4 bumped up.

Quite authentic Chinese cooking. Recommend the Delicious Peking Duck. They offer half duck which is great! Clean and relaxing space. Good service. Good "Go TO" Chinese restaurant without having to travel to Chinatown and look endlessly for parking.

Came here since the yelp reviews were good. WRONG. We had the lamb skewers as an appetizer. They were fatty and they were nothing special. Had the half Peking duck and also nothing spectacular. Service was not acceptable. Had to flag down wait staff to order additional food since we were still hungry. Waited 20 minutes for soup dumplings and reminded them of order after 25 minutes since we did not receive them. It was not a pleasant experience and will not go back!

If you are craving authentic peking duck - look no further! My kids also enjoyed this place because they brought a soap dispenser to the table that foamed out bubble soap which my kiddies had a ball washing their hands with. This place has a lot of potential because the food presentation is unique for an Asian restaurant. We ordered delishes skewers and it came on a mini grill. My som inhaled their scallion pancakes. If only they can renovate the bathroom and not use visible tape to hold their ceilings decor, they can become upscale. However, I did appreciate that it was more low key and they even put on cartoons for the kids. We ended with their very realistic looking puppy coffee ice cream. Will definitely come back to try their other dishes!

The Peking duck is excellent. If you have four people and more, then order the whole duck. You can also get the duck soup. The scallion pancakes have an egg wash on it, which is weird to me. XLB is mediocre. The lamb skewers are Moroccan flavored and are also delicious! Service was good. Very authentic Chinese tea!

A friend told us about it. Since I did. It want to cook, I ordered food to go instead. Everything tasted good except my Peking duck. Maybe because I should have eaten it there instead of take it home. Or maybe they should have a way to take home a Peking duck so it stays close to the condition it would have been if I ate it there. I Don it know. The wrapper for the Peking duck was definitely nice and thin. We ordered xia-long-bao. They were large and delicious but the wrapper was a bit thick for me. It tasted good though. The peashoot with garlic was delicious. I also recommend the fried rice. The place is very nice. It is hard to find through construction going on in the area. But the place is newly done. Very clean! They have 1 round table for 5 in front and a separate room with a round table for 8. The rest of the place are for 2 or 4 people tables. It's conveniently located in midtown 34th street. Authentic Chinese food and good. Ambience is excellent. Service is very good, and hopefully when I eat there next time, I will see if my duck will be better. I also want my duck bones like many places I have been to.

Came here with my dad during a trip to NYC and we were both super impressed with this small unassuming restaurant. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were very amazing and attentive. We came around 3pm and only had a few other tables but we were still very impressed with the service. The food was top notch, especially the Peking duck & skewers. If you order the whole Peking duck, they will give you duck soup and also the bones in case you want to use it to make soup/other things. Overall I would definitely recommend to all and will come back next time I'm in NYC

Amazing find for authentic Chinese food in Kips Bay. We were looking for Peking Duck and found Chef Huang near us in Midtown and it was above expectations. The restaurant has a clean, modern ambiance and the waiters are some of the most attentive (kept checking in on us to see if we needed more wraps for the duck or vegetables.) We ordered the lamb skewers, soy sauce shrimp, the half Peking Duck, and pea shoots with garlic. The lamb skewers were perfectly cooked and super juicy. Duck was definitely one of the best I've had in Manhattan. Skin crispy and the wraps were extremely thin as they should be. Will definitely return!

New spot in midtown serving up authentic Peking Duck. No reservations here. There were people standing outside waiting for a table. The room is pretty with about 8 or 9 tables in the front room. The back room has 1 table for about 8 people. The staff is very hard working and welcoming. We had the lamb skewers which everyone liked. We saw it on almost every table. The Peking duck was delicious. The meat was so tender. We all wished the skin would have been crispy. The pancakes were perfection. The sliced cucumber and scallion with a plum sauce were great. The snow pea leaves with ginger was delicious. The soup dumplings were delicious. We ended with the frozen dessert. The molds are adorable. The menu was varied I chose pork burger on crispy bun and was not disappointed. The meat was juicy and the portion was generous for the price. The soup buns were so big it couldn't fit on the spoon. They were super flavorful. I really enjoyed the ambiance eating on a table with a clean white linen tablecloth rather than a paper placemat. The service was very good. These pork soup buns were exceptional. I am looking forward towards my next meal.

Very good Peking duck, a playful menu with Instagram-ready highlights, and nice folks but you will have to pay a premium. I would probably give this spot 4.5 stars if I could. Really my review is all about the Peking duck which was great. But this is an interesting little restaurant that is worth a visit even if you skip the duck. Nevertheless, I was hitting up some of the current Peking duck hotspots on this trip to NYC. This was my favorite spot. I went early afternoon after what looked like a busy lunch because most of the tables had dirty dishes on them and they were out of two dishes I tried to order. There was one sweet lady managing the dining room alone. She recommended the crushed cucumbers with garlic. It had a tasty vinegar sauce. I also tried the gluten with fungus and mushrooms which she described as Shanghai style. I think that meant having a sweet flavor profile. It was probably too much sweet to go with the duck. I liked the vinegar counterpoint of the cucumbers better. The duck though. The skin was crisp and had subtle layers of flavor. Some kind of mild fruity sour notes came through. The meat was tender. It was served with a classic pancake, hoisin, and spring onion which I approve. Also cucumber slices which I put up with (and also realized was redundant considering my garlic cukes order). The pancakes were thin but not Uber fancy thin, which I might prefer but I will take them either way. Only thing missing for a full on duck experience was no table-side carving. There are a bunch of Instagram-bait stuff in the menu like these ice cream animals. I didn't order them but damn the pics in the menu do look remarkable. I would definitely go back and look forward to trying a few more dishes and curating a less sweet overall meal. Live and learn. It is a pricey spot to eat alone so I recommend going with a group.

Our family friend took us here for dinner - what a feast! It felt like it was chinese new year Everything tasted amazing - you can tell the quality is set to a high bar, and the chefs spend a lot of effort and time on each dish. The roast duck was perfect with real crepes (not the thick baos that other places give). The lobster and crab were perfect with lots of "wok hei." The beef brisket in the sesame pancake was SO tender! I think our friend ordered 12+ dishes and we enjoyed every single one. Perfect balance of flavor and texture. The staff were nice and quick as well. Private room was nicely decorated with couches on the side and a water cooler. Definitely make a reservation- we ate dinner around 6pm, when we left at 8pm every table was taken. If you're looking for authentic chinese food in midtown, Chef Huang is a great place for a group. And please share your food, family style

Such a hidden gem in Murray Hill! Originally came in not really craving peking duck and almost didn't order it but our waiter highly encouraged us to - definitely the right decision! You can't go wrong. The duck is very tender, and the restaurant is very generous with the veggies, sauces, and wraps they provide with it. I also usually don't like lamb, but the lamb skewers were absolutely delicious! Flavored with the perfect amount of saltiness and even more delicious with cumin on top. The interior is very clean, and the waiters are attentive and friendly.

Small unassuming space with great presentation and flavors. Must have their Peking duck, lamb kebabs, drunken crab. Enjoyed everything with a few bottles of Riesling what went well with the dishes. Service was quick.

Amazing little restaurant that makes the trek out to 2nd Ave so worth it!!!! The Peking duck is so juicy and flavorful, my mouth is watering just thinking back to this delicious meal. I came here with a party of 5 on a Tuesday evening, they sat us quickly even though our full party wasn't there yet which was very nice of them. Lamb skewers are a must, we strongly considered ordering a second order after finishing the first quickly. Their presentation is so beautiful, for example the Peking duck had an adorable tiny teapot that was "steaming". I'm not sure they did this on purpose but our scallion pancake wrapped ribs were cut into 10 pieces, a perfect amount for our group of 10. If they do this on purpose that's a very thoughtful touch. Can't wait to come back!

love the food. but there's a refrigerator that makes so much noise when you sit on the restaurant. i won't be able to again until they fix it

I had no expectations for this meal but everything was so impressive. We first received the house special beef ribeye covered with a flaky pastry. It came with some pineapples as a nice palette cleanser. I wish it had a spicy or crunchy component but it was still very good. Next up was the beef pot pie. The crispy pastry on top paired really well with the soup inside. The beef was very tender and there was a generous amount of ingredients. Lastly, my favorite, we got the peking duck. The duck was incredibly soft and the skin was perfectly crispy. It paired so well with the wrap, we devoured this in an instant. I would come back just for the duck. We went on a thursday night and was seated right away. service was decent and the place is a bit small with only a few tables but very cute. cant wait to come back!

Solid, authentic Chinese food at a reasonable (for Manhattan) price! Of note are the Peking duck (well made and if you order a whole duck, it comes with delicious duck broth!) and the lamb skewers (absolutely delicious, definitely recommend). The whole fish we got was also very fresh. Scallion pancakes were meh. Overall, a great choice!
