According to the overwhelmingly good reviews, we chose to have dinner with a group on Saturday night. It was early, so I was surprised to see how dirty the carpet in the entry was. Not a good sign, but figured it was a fluke. We had to wait for our table despite making reservations a week in advance, confirming that day, and then receiving a call from the restaurant reconfirming. The place wasn't crowded, but they might have been short on help.
We started on a high note. The waitress came up to the table as soon as we were seated. She took our drink orders, and a request for a kid's meal which came quickly - except for my iced tea, but that was okay. I was Impressed! The beers were fine, the mixed drinks disappointing. Same for the onion and mushroom soup.
Sadly it took a long time for the adult meals to come. When they did arrive, it appeared that they may have been sitting aound for a long time. My naked turkey burger salad was so dry, that I poured ketchup on it which didn't improve things. The salad looked good - but I was so turned off by the burger I was done eating.
The others didn't fare much better. One asked for vinegar for his salad and it took a long time to get it. Another ordered an Octoberfest special, schlachplatte, which looked like an appetizer not an entry, but it didn't matter because it wasn't good and he couldn't finish it. One fared much better, he got a Grilled Brewben sandwich which he enjoyed.
Still, the company was good and we enjoyed ourselves until the youngest member of our party cried out in pain. Apparently, the seat of her wooden chair was broken, and when she pushed down on it to get up it clamped down on her hand. When her dessert, upsidedown peach pie with ice cream arrived, she was in no mood to eat. But the adults at the table dug in, and it turned out to be the highlight of the meal.
The parents of the little one got her ice cream at a shop around the corner, so all things turned out well.
