"Part of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux list of establishments, Chez Muffy is located in a historic maritime warehouse from 1822 that includes its original stone walls and wooden beams. Chefs Alex Bouchard and Arthur Muller showcase great savoir faire and artistic ability in every dish, calling on European techniques and influences and using fresh produce sourced directly from their garden on Île d’Orléans." - Allison Van Rassel

We couldn’t have dreamed for a better honeymoon dining experience! Simon made our evening! Best server we have seen in a long time. Food is extremely delicious, fine blends, top notch wine pairing. Just 11/10 experience!

I made a reservation here for my family of 4 (including two young children) without having done my due diligence. I was unaware that the menu is strictly a blind tasting menu, with the only option being 3 or 7 courses. I panicked at the thought of my 1.5 and 5 yr old sitting through a tasting menu BUT our lovely waitress assured me that they could have a kids menu and that they could be speedy. This was the case and our food was INCREDIBLE. By far our best meal in Quebec, and it was truly a wonderful experience. The staff were all so kind and accommodating, and I can’t get over how affordable the tasting menu is for what you get. I’ll be recommending Chez Muffy to all who visit Quebec!

Everything from start to finish was above and beyond expectations. Next level dining with incredible creations and wine pairings. Perhaps one of the best meal experiences I've ever had.

Google
The real shining star here is the service and the atmosphere. Wonderful staff!! The food was okay and a bit expensive for breakfast; the buffet was a bit paltry both in offerings and stocking (everything was very low on stock for meats, cheeses etc) BUT it is free with your breakfast BUT breakfast is $39CAD so not cheap. Highly recommended booking with Amex if you can as the perks are fantastic with great room rates, $100 food & bev credit and 2 free breakfasts. 💕💕💕

Barbara was absolutely amazing! From the moment we sat down, she greeted us with a warm smile and made sure we felt comfortable. Her service was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and always checking in at just the right moments without being intrusive. It’s rare to find a waitress who makes you feel so welcomed, and Barbara truly went above and beyond to make our experience special. On top of the outstanding service, the food was incredible! I came in for breakfast, and every bite was simply delicious. The ingredients were fresh, everything was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were just right. The menu had so many great options that it was hard to choose, but I was more than happy with my selection. The atmosphere of chez muffy was also fantastic—cozy, inviting, and the perfect place to start the day with a great meal. Everything about this place made me want to come back, and I definitely will. If you’re looking for amazing food and top-tier service, this is the spot to visit. And if you’re lucky enough to have Barbara as your waitress

Google
Such a cute cozy vibe for breakfast! It took us awhile to figure out how to get inside as multiple doors were locked, and since we weren't staying at the hotel we couldn't find it right away. The service was good, the food was also good. A bit pricey but still enjoyed the cozy vibe!

Google
Excellent restaurant. Good ambiance, friendly, but professional service, creative combination of quality ingredients. A bit on the expensive side, but the 7 course surprise menu worth it.

Google
A decent wine list with high end options. Well executed dishes in both taste and presentation. A must try restaurant for its discovery allure. Unfortunately, in my opinion, not a format that encourages multiple return visits for short 2 to 4 night says at the hotel. A restaurant of this calibre would definitely grab 80% of my dinning needs during a multiple night stay if the menu had a more traditional meat, fish, pasta offering allowing one to try different dishes every night. The discovery style menu with its 7 services is a great onetime meal but will not entice me to return the following night.

Yelp
We have loved our meals at Chez Muffy while staying at the associated hotel. We came here for dinner the first night, choosing the five-course tasting menu with wine pairings. I loved that the wine pairings were each from a different country, and the sommelier was knowledgeable and (thankfully!) as descriptive in English as in French. They paired beautifully with the dishes. The breakfasts have also been fantastic! The pastries are the best we've had outside of Europe (the butter croissants nearly melt in your mouth), and the small touches like the smoothie shot and incredible homemade jams make everything even more lovely. The space is gorgeous, with high ceilings and intersecting wooden beams, industrial lighting, and soft seating. The service is attentive and kind. Highly recommend a meal or two here.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance in this restaurant, it's warm and inviting. Eclectic decor. They were very accommodating of dietary restrictions. Service was friendly. I would have really liked to come back for the brunch. All of our food was delicious and you can see the artistry of each meal.

Victoriya H.

Yelp
Celebrated our 20th anniversary here. Friendly staff, had a little card prepared for us- nice gesture. Ambience is nice but restaurant was empty. Impressive selection of wine. 2 couples were finishing up their meal and then we were alone. Now about food...I think this is by far the worst fine dining experience I had in my life. I never actually experienced anything like that before and I am not a newbie to that kind of culinary experience. Very artful presentation of food but none of the flavors or textures worked. There was not a single dish from appetizer to desert that I could say was even close to good or enjoyable. The best part of expensive dinner was sourdough bread and butter. I am dumbfounded by many glorious reviews and by the experience itself. I included some pictures of artfully presented but highly disappointing food. Anniversary dinner fiasco. Do not recommend.

Yelp
During our recent visit to Quebec City, we enjoyed daily breakfast at Chez Muffy during our stay at the Auberge Saint Antoine. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. Freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, along with a shot of green juice, kicked us off, followed by coffee and tea. There is a smallish yet plentiful buffet with fresh fruit, cheese, sliced meat and pastries including a variety of croissants and muffins. They switched it up just a bit every day. Additionally, you could order a "main" course. Our family tried several options during our stay and each one was a hit! Above all, the team at Chez Muffy treated us like family -- in the best of ways! By day two, they knew our beverage order and sat us at "usual" table. Our waitress Melanie was the best! Next time we visit Quebec City, we will have to try dinne

Dina E.

Yelp
Awesome dinner at Bar Artefact, the adjacent bar to Chez Muffy. Excellent service, ambience and food! Would highly recommend. Appropriate for celebrations, intimate gatherings or small groups

Ken L.

Yelp
Amazing service, lovely setting, delicious food. This was an epic experience that will be long remembered.

Alexis r.

Yelp
Overpriced, service was not great, food was mediocre at best but terrible in the price point.

Molly O.

Yelp
Though we did not dine at Chez Muffy (so I cannot comment on their food), they charged us $100CAN cancel fee for canceling a reservation, even though we cancelled more than 24hrs in advance. We called to cancel at around 3:00pm the day before our reservation for dinner at 6:30pm the next day...approximately 27 hrs in advance. I fully understand charging a no show fee or a late cancel fee ie. same day, but seriously? $100CAN when canceling more than 24hrs in advance is egregious! BEWARE

C N.

Yelp
Overpriced. Prix fix. Food was mediocre & combination of flavors did not work. Very small portions. Staff tries hard but was lacking true hospitality when they argue with customer about how a cocktail is served or why we chose not to tip. A tip is not mandatory and if you don't receive one do not accost the guest as they leave. We are extremely generous when it is deserved. Too many other wonderful dining opportunities in Quebec City to be ripped off at Chez Muffy.

Joab H.

Yelp
Embarrassing from start to finish. Horrible, inedible food with no consideration of taste given. The amuse bouche was a pretzel with tomato paste that tasted like something a 5 year old would make home alone. The starter seemed to be an attempt to eliminate all that's good about salmon. The main was swordfish cooked like chicken in some sort of a whipped cream sauce and devoid of all flavor, technique, or general culinary awareness. Dessert and the following accompaniment made me gag, and then laugh. Dopey music, an iPad wine list, and transparent attempts at getting the customer to pay more completed the picture.

Stella W.

Yelp
Nice decor, excellent breakfast but lacking on the service unless you luck out with an attentive staff. We had breakfast here daily, service levels varied. At one point, I ended up walking up front to ask for ketchup as I couldn't wait any longer. They looked annoyed, but i honestly sat at my corner table and waited for like a looooong time, and still couldn't get their attention. Depends on what you value in your experience :)

Alex B.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast and excellent dinner - can't say enough good things about the caliber of the food available here. The hotel is also such a good host. We always stay here and eat here when in Quebec.

James R.

Yelp
It's been a while since I'd had a decent brunch buffet. Chez Muffy was a top notch rendition of said buffet style. All of the charcuterie was very nice, the basic staples of eggs and bacon/sausage/ham were nice. The real star of the show here is allí of the sweet and savory pastries that they have here. The decor is really nice, like a high end lodge. The ambiance and the service were great. Lastly, the juice and mimosas here were very good. I would return here for brunch.

Naomi W.

Yelp
The food was just okay. Pretty presentation, but not that great. The amouse bouche was a bit weird. The patio was nice with flowers in planters.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Had the breakfast buffet while staying at Saint-Antoine Hotel. Wow. A must. The bacon-Parmesan quiche, the French toast, the apple crumble, the croissants, the eggs, the lox, the jam, the bacon. Everything is delicious at this gorgeous, cozy restaurant with stone walls, wide plank floors, and a hearth in the center. Stunning. Out of a Hallmark movie at Christmas time. 5 stars!!!!!

Yelp
In planning recent trip to Quebec City, we received Chez Muffy as a "must" from multiple people. I am so glad we decided to stop here. It was a great meal with really good service and solid food. We opted to sit outside for lunch. We started with the green pea soup. It was very flavorful with a little spice from the chorizo-tarragon vinaigrette. It wasn't heavy which made it perfect for an appetizer on a warm day. I then had the club sandwich which came with fries and a side salad. It was a great option. I left full but not stuffed. My boyfriend had the lobster roll which also came with fries and a side salad. The lobster roll was great! Our server was attentive, professional and took the time to get to know us during the meal. She was a great representation of the restaurant! We plan to return for dinner for our next trip!

Eric B.

Yelp
Gayle, Erin, Jim, and I enjoyed an amazing brunch at Chez Muffy. The restaurant is part of the Auberge Saint-Antoine Hotel and is set within a refurbished 19th century maritime warehouse. This space features the structure's original stone walls, wooden beams, and a warm ambiance overlooking the St. Lawrence river. The Brunch was a splurge at $50 per person and is a little cheaper if you're a hotel guest. We had a nice table, attentive service, and plenty of time to hang out and enjoy. When we finally waddled out of there, we all agreed that it was worth every Canadian penny. Every vacation should have at least one key culinary experience like this (if you can afford it). I can't even describe accurately the selections (including mimosas), other than to say "Wow".

Chris C.

Yelp
Chez Muffy is a gem in Quebec City. They have an amazing breakfast buffet that is paired with a few special dishes. We got their Eggs Benedict which was fantastic and highly recommended. I highly recommend getting sausages on the side. These were the best sausages I have ever had as it melted in my mouth!! Their pastries are also amazing, I recommend getting the blueberry jam!

Russell B.

Yelp
We started our honeymoon in Quebec City off at the perfect place... Chez Muffy. The staff was amazing, it was great seeing them work as a team to care for everyone there, but especially us. Immediately they cleared our wine glasses and treated us to a nice glass of a bubbly unique Rosé that tasted great (I'm not a sweet wine kind of guy.) Beautiful place, amazing food, incredible staff. If you've never been you're missing out.

Virginia K.

Yelp
Superb. Expensive so be aware & don't complain later - but worth it. Excellent service, fine food, attention to detail, beautiful ambiance, great sommelier. We were too in the moment to take pics but presentations were lovely. We were outside on the terrace on a beautiful evening & it was memorable.

Tani S.

Yelp
We were staying in the hotel celebrating our eleven year old daughter's birthday and opted to go for dinner here. We loved the rustic restaurant interior with the prevalence of wood. As you entered the restaurant it was neat to look into the kitchen. We had a charming corner banquet on the second floor with a view of the river. The service was impeccable with a very friendly waiter and supporting staff. We ordered the tasting menu ($99) and the children had a version as well ($20) with three courses. For the first courses it was zucchini fritters for the adults and a lobster in a potato chip shell. Both were delightful and fresh from the garden. The children had a tea smoked salmon which was delightful and a very generous portion. The entree for the adults was a beef medallion with a purée and this was incredible but do wish it hadn't had blue cheese. The children appreciated their kid sized portion. For dessert the adults had a cheese course followed by a brandy soaked cake and with cherries and pistachio ice cream while the children had brownies. We also had complementary bread with herbed butter and a pork pate so at the end of the evening we were pleasantly satiated and appreciated the short walk back to our room :).

Yelp
We were looking forward to this restaurant. Everything was as expected all the way up until I pulled a long hair out of my mouth biting into a pastry. I understand that it happens. Still it is disgusting and can be prevented. You don't expect something like this from a high end restaurant.

Stephen B.

Yelp
The restaurant Chez Muffy is located within the L'Auberge St. Antoine hotel. I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and had breakfast here each morning. There is an excellent choice of buffet or a la Carte dining. The surrounding are extremely comfortable, the cuisine well prepared, and the wait staff excellent. A great way to start the day.

Alison Y.

Yelp
A gem inside the incredible Auberge hotel. The breakfast menu was wonderful and we enjoyed each meal we had there. The servers were prompt and pleasant, making sure we always had what we needed. The green smoothie is an excellent and refreshing choice and the breakfast buffet has something for everyone. If you're fortunate enough to stay at the Auberge, definitely dine here. Absolute tops! Highly, highly recommended!

Rich K.

Yelp
Highly recommended if you are aware of the price point. Top notch service, as you would expect from a fine dining establishment inside of a nice hotel (had genuine exchanges plus a dry sense of humour at no extra charge). Food is locally sourced and paired nicely with creamy but innovative sauces. Will definitely go back!

Jim M.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. 3 course prix fixe for 20 dollars Canadian. Pea soup or fennel salad, roast lamb with mushrooms and pearl onions, and dessert..amazing! Only a few people in the restaurant not sure why. Lovely terrace and dining room.

Vehik G.

Yelp
A very exquisite restaurant Located in a historic building with a warm atmosphere and high quality (Michelin Star worthy) menu. We had oysters, beef tartar, spaghetti with lobster and berry eclair. If you like Vodka and grapefruit juice, you must try Aphrodite cocktail. I highly recommend this place. You must make a reservation.

Nick F.

Yelp
This is a must eat for upscale dining in Quebec City. The warm cabin style decor, attentive service, and exquisite food will take you on a transformative journey that lets you tats the essence of the region. Overall excellent experience and would recommend to anyone in the area.

Maria R.

Yelp
The food was great but the service was horrible. The waitress rushed us and was very rude. Gave it two stars because the food and ambience was great but service was unacceptable. Worst service in Quebec province. Watch out for an old, tall bitter looking blonde woman.

Nathan W.

Yelp
An upscale, impeccable restaurant in the historic heart of Quebec City. We came here for a romantic dinner on the final evening of our Maritime Provinces road trip. The rustic atmosphere is lovely and the food is even better. We loved every course and would absolutely come back. Highly recommend.

Jrizzle r.

Yelp
Amazing ambience, friendly waiters. Great service. Great recipes and meal fusion. I enjoyed the history of the hotel and restaurant. Thanks for the attention to detail and cozy ambience Muffy! Homemade dishes with fresh local ingredients. Gourmet style and presentations.

Dunia A.

Yelp
From the moment we stepped in, we thought, wow... French Chateau. Service was excellent and so was the food. I heard of this place from the "Vagabros" who vetted this restaurant on their YouTube channel. Apparently the Prime Minister of Canada was here having dinner when they came. So, if it's good enough for Justin Trudeau, it's good enough for us. Honestly, the food was excellent! Had the Striped bass with a mashed potatoe side and it was delicious. Ambiance was top notch as well. Highly recommended. Would come over and over again if I lived here.

Mel W.

Yelp
The food was amazing, the sommelier recommended a delicious wine pairing that we wouldn't have choose our selves. The staff was helpful, kind and very hospitable! I will definitely recommend Chez Muffy to anyone visiting Quebec City!

Grace L.

Yelp
Service was good, Max was a very attentive waiter, very warm and friendly, so was the hostess. The place was beautifully decorated, just as the food on your plate. However that was it. The fois gras was not rich or smooth as others I've tasted. My beef was made to a perfect temperature, rare as Max described and definitely the way I like it. The potatoes on the plate were bland but the plate needed such to complement the saltiness of the sauce and the mushrooms. My cousin ordered the sweetbread, the batter was salty, they were heavy handed w the salt last night. The pasta was good. The halibut was inconsistent in cooking temperature, rare on the inside, good in the middle and well done on the end. Overall experience was good but food was just average.

Shani C.

Yelp
This was my husband's and my 4th wedding anniversary. Beautiful venue, lovely ambiance and the food...! At first I was taken aback by the structure of the menu AND the cost but each course is a unique work of art. Crisp, clean flavours. Fruits and veggies locally sourced or straight from their private garden! Very surprising and inspired interpretations of each course. Compliments to the chef!

Tammy R.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic!! We had the chefs tasting and it was delicious. The restaurant is beautiful and very cozy.

Jose L.

Yelp
Great food poor service. I honestly don't expect much from a wait staff but when the waitress rushes you at the beginning of service and then takes forever to serve you your food, constantly forgets stuff you requested 20 mins ago and almost double charged you for certain items, that's basically the line.

Bruce S.

Yelp
Went for Sunday brunch. The food is all good, with a few of the items being excellent. Some of the items were slow to be refreshed when the trays were empty but did get refilled in time. The prices for the buffet and a small glass of champagne were just way too high to give it more than 3 stars. The ambiance is very nice with the old stone walls and such. I'd do dinner there based on the quality of the food but I would not recommend the brunch.

Clemence B.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Cozy and chic, an amazing buffet for the brunch.. a lot of choice and high quality. Personal is very pleasant and helpful. One of the must of Quebec for Sunday Brunch! Highly recommend!

Erika S.

Yelp
This spot was pretty disappointing. I see some of the lower rated reviews as having mentioned that they did not find the staff very good, however, I found them to be friendly and polite. My partner did, however find that they were a little pushy with the wine menu as well as trying to upsell the fixed price dinner menu. I have been to Caribbean resorts and not too fancy weddings with better food. I had the aubergine starter and it was soggy and taste-less, followed by the monkfish which was from a texture perspective- not cooked properly. It was puffy and chewy and the sauce to top it off, was quite un-appetizing. The zucchini panacotta side was also overwhelmingly salty and unpleasant. The blueberry clafoutis, while looking good, was bad. The homemade blueberry sorbet was very good though. I understand that this is a fine dining experience, however, there seemed to be a lot more time given to presentation than taste. I would not recommend this place to anyone who deems themselves a "foodie" or prefers fine dining experiences. There are far better restaurants in the area.

Kasia O.

Yelp
Everything was perfect. Great food, excellent service, large selection of wines. The place was clean and had an interesting ambiance.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Went for Sunday brunch, which was a mistake. Buffets always disappoint, and this was no exception. The buffet was expansive, with lots of choices such as a variety of smoked salmons and cheeses, quiches, shredded duck, pastries, etc, but the food quality itself was slightly above average. The restaurant itself is beautiful and in a great location, but I would skip the buffet and per the other reviews here, go for a meal that has a menu.

JP J.

Yelp
If you're looking for the highest quality gourmet cuisine in Quebec City, save yourself the disappointment of going to a restaurant that markets high quality gourmet cuisine and service and doesn't deliver, and go to "Chez Muffy". We had an outstanding five course meal there on Christmas Eve 2017, with wine pairing for each course, and our waitress, Marie-Claude, was not only very pleasant but also a fountain of knowledge on everything she served us to eat and drink. This was a very memorable evening.

Adrian M.

Yelp
Ok if Sir Paul McCarthy can stay and eat here I guess we can as well. We enjoyed the tasting menu which was excellent minus the cheese course which was someone trying too hard to be creative. Foam cheese tasted like yogurt with salt. Sorry but throw that one in the trash...a second course of Hubbard squash with mushrooms and chestnut foam was creative and quite tasty. The main course beef with blue cheese and reduction sauce one of the best. Nicely cooked variety of vegetables complemented the main. But in my mind the star was the lobster risotto! I am a risotto snob and this was the best ever (bowl licking good). Could have stopped after the risotto and been more than happy. We were surprised with two deserts due to the cheese disaster. One a chocolate mix and the other a mix of apples, camel and small round buckwheat cakes. The restaurant is lovely, rustic and sophisticated at the same time. Highly recommended when in old city Quebec!

Jordan M.

Yelp
A great splurge dinner. We both had the tasting menu, I had the wine pairing as well which was phenomenal. The food was terrific all around really. The only downside was the price...

Justin B.

Yelp
When we walk in at 6 PM on a Saturday night (11/25/2017), the restaurant was maybe 1/2 full, not that crowded. Me and the girlfriend order. Girlfriend orders a vegetarian entree with squash cream soup. I order the grass fed ribeye and a glass of wine. One thing I noticed right off the bat is the wine glasses have marks on them to mark the 3 and 5 oz line. The waitress pouring the wine pours it up to the 5 oz line and not a nano-meter higher. Kind of tacky for a "nice" restaurant but whatever... The soup arrives maybe 10 minutes later and its not bad. Portion was very small but its an appetizer so who cares. Then, we wait about an additional hour for our food to arrive. I surmise that since I ordered ribeye it must be taking a while to cook (even though I ordered it medium rare)... Finally, our main courses arrive and and visually, I'm bitterly disappointed. Girlfriends dish looks like a small plop of random veggies piled on a plate and my "ribeye" appears to be a 3mm thick slice of ribeye with small piped out blips of celeriac puree. At this point, I'm starving so I decide to dig in. As I'm eating this paper-thing slice of ribeye, I keep thinking to myself how the price of the dish is $36. It didn't even include a real serving of the celeriac puree. It's essentially an a la carte slice of ribeye they charge $36 for. The thing was so thin it must have been on a saute pan for no longer than a minute each side. I'm not even kidding. Unsurprisingly, I finish this thing in about 60 seconds and am still hungry. Girlfriend finishes her small plop of veggies in about the same time and has a look of bitter disappointment on her face as well. I have no idea how the chef or waitress had any dignity left after serving these plates to us. The kicker is we ask for the bill immediately after finishing and the waitress returns with a bill for $106. Just a final kick in the nads from this place. Afterwards, we go to a random restaurant on the way home and get some bread and soup for $5 for my girlfriend because she's still hungry. I order a beer in a futile attempt to forget about the situation. I honestly can't tell if this place is either: A) the biggest tourist trap in Quebec or B) so financially in the gutter they need to rob their customers of any value by charging exorbitant prices for comically small portions of mediocre food. As an aside, I don't care if a restaurant serves small portions. I actually think that's a great thing most of the time, but don't make your customers wait a long time and charge high prices. That's just ridiculous. Whats additionally disappointing is this is our first time in Quebec City, and the first place we went to was Le Clocher Penche, which was absolutely outstanding (food + service) and the kicker was that the prices were actually very cheap. So our expectations for other places in Quebec were sky high. Then we went to this place and basically don't know what to think of Quebec anymore. I'm just really hoping someone else can read this before they book this place and prevent any further disappointment.

Jim R.

Yelp
Picturesque setting overlooking the river in a Relais & Chateau property. I opted for the 5 course prix fixe menu, along with the 5 wine pairings. Each dish was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Most featured local ingredients. The wine pairings were a little unusual and fun. They included France, California, Italy, Spain, and even a local ice cider. Will return!

Adam P.

Yelp
Beautiful space in old Quebec. So much charm and character. Food is outstanding as well. One of our friends is a vegetarian and they put together a beautiful vegetable entre for her. The bread came with butter and a little bit of pate so they brought her some olive oil in case she didn't eat dairy and a little tomato salad to have instead of the pate. Very nice touch. Everyone else's meals were amazing as well. Halibut, lobster and the duck special. The service was great, very attentive without being overbearing. Fantastic drinks and appetizers as well. As this is on the higher end we were expecting smaller portions but that wasn't the case at all. We were all stuffed by the time we walked out of there. Wasn't very busy so I hope they last as it was a wonderful experience.

Tony L.

Yelp
This food here is average at best. They do not have a sommelier which is strange for this type of class. They do not explain what the items in the dishes are like other french restaurants in QC. I would never ever go back here again. Hands down. Drop the mic.

Stu K.

Yelp
Truly wonderful French restaurant in walking distance from old Quebec City. Situated in a historic stone building with a very romantic interior lit by candlelight with high stone interior walls and massive old wood beams . Service by Basem was truly perfect. Every dish we had was magnificent. Sadly, we had no room for dessert. Another must go to place when visiting old quebec city. Reservations a must
