Chicago Brauhaus - Review - Chicago - The Infatuation

"If Lincoln Square isn't on your radar, we suggest you broaden your horizon. Chicago Brauhaus isn't quite the Augustiner or Hofbrauhaus of Munich, but it's a good time. Along with traditional German fare, you can find some traditional German beers to go along with the music and dance floor in back. The meal won't be the best you've ever had, but it makes for an adventurous and fun night. Our advice is to stick to the basics like sausages and bratwurst with the food, and don't be afraid to get a little loose. Prost! We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Another German-American Bar Falls in Lincoln Square - Eater Chicago

"Chicago Brauhaus, a significant cultural venue, was saved from extinction by DANK Haus by moving the restaurant’s bar and mementos inside its building." - Naomi Waxman

How Lincoln Square saved Chicago Brauhaus - Eater Chicago

"When news broke that Chicago Brauhaus closed three years ago, regulars mourned the loss of a German-American icon. The beloved spot was where customers drank beer out of glass boots while listening to the sounds of dancing men playing tubas and drums while wearing lederhosen, Brauhaus spent more than half a century in Lincoln Square." - Naomi Waxman

"Known for a bustling, family-friendly atmosphere that drew generations of regulars, the Chicago Brauhaus gave patrons a year-round Oktoberfest with lederhosen-clad musicians, massive beer steins, and hearty German fare. The restaurant became a preferred location among neighbors for wedding receptions, family holiday gatherings, and celebrations of all kinds, where diners of all ages mingled and danced together. Chicago Brauhaus Nostalgia Powers German-American Group’s Plan - Eater Chicago

"DANK Haus, the North Side’s active German-American cultural group, is raising funds in the hope of recreating Lincoln Square’s iconic Chicago Brauhaus, which closed in 2017 after 52 years, according to Block Club Chicago. The DANK Haus German American Cultural Center has raised more than $4,500 thus far on a GoFundMe and plans to use pieces from the original Brauhaus (including doors, chandeliers, and its well-known red bar) on the second floor of its center at 4740 N. Western Avenue." - Naomi Waxman

The Brauhaus has been a Chicago German staple for generations! My dad and I always used to go in for schnizel and a beer, which is the best! Unfortunately, I recently found out that they are closing soon so if you want to go visit, do it very soon! It's been very crowded as news of the closing is soready so if you go before they close their doors forever, expect a wait! Steins and memorabilia have been all sold already. Go make it there before they close to get one last great schnizel in your tummy and memories!

One of the best authentic German restaurants in the City. We love the pork schnitzel, spaetzle and potato salad. Great German beer selection with both liter and half-liter servings

Awesome Food, Drink, Entertainment, and Environment. I loved it there, and I'm not even German but, felt German when I was there. The food taste like it came right out of a German Mom's Kitchen. Fresh and Authentic. It was perfect. Make sure you make a reservation if going Friday or Saturday, etc.. They don't over book but, it is a popular place, as it should be! I encourage everyone to try it out. You will not be disappointed!

WHERE GERMAN FOOD LIVES. Didn't really dig the dish I chose but it was still good eats. Want to go back to try something different. They have good beer and everything for a nice price. The dinning room is really dark but very old world. I went for a late lunch so missed the authentic music during dinner.
