I must admit, it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had, cooked to perfection… succulent, seared just right, and full of flavor! I also tried the lobster bisque and that too was absolutely amazing. The presentation and service were impeccable… and not to mention that the dessert, a pumpkin creme brûlée, was definitely best in its class. Bravo! This place is keeping the tradition of best steakhouse alive! A must try!!

This was one the best steak dinners I’ve had in Chicago. Gabe was our server and he made us feel very welcome, suggested great meal options and gave us a unique experience for our anniversary. He was incredibly friendly and a great server. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. We ordered dry aged steaks - highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious. The bread alone was to die for. Love the shrimp and amount of horseradish. The steak was cooked to perfection abs the horseradish sauce 10/10

This is a case of you getting what you pay for: excellent service, food, and atmosphere. When you go, ask for Joseph. Throughly explained menu and which steak would best suit my preferences. Since every item is made from scratch, it is not the place for a quick dinner. However, it will be one of the most memorable. I appreciated the personalized menu to celebrate our special occasion. This is the restaurant where you feel special from the moment you reach the door until the moment you leave. Thank you Chop House Chicago!

Where to start? I loved Derek! Derek was amazing! Extremely knowledgeable about the menu and answered any questions we had. He made amazing drinks! He was also extremely kind and attentive to anything we needed! The food was absolutely phenomenal that I tried to take pictures but couldn’t help taking bites out of my food and totally could not wait to drink my drinks! Thank you Derek for making our experience so wonderful!

Chicago Chop House is a must try for sure! My husband and I had dinner here last night and we were blown away by the impeccable service, food and ambiance. As soon as we were seated, our waiter, Joshua came over to introduce himself and learn a little more about us. We really appreciated this personal touch. For drinks, we went with his recommendations, glass of caymus red wine and a very refreshing cucumber martini. For appetizer, we ordered the lobster escargot and this is a must order! The flavors and amount of lobster in this dish was perfect! For entrees, my husband ordered the filet mignon, I had the rack of lamb and our side was the king crab mash. The meats were cooked to our liking and Joshua checked in with us to ensure we were happy with our entrees. The side dish, just wow! This mash was definitely the best Ive had, the king crab and gravy added so much flavor and they provide a great amount of king crab. Lastly, for dessert, Joshua gifted us with a lava cake to celebrate my birthday and we loved it! After visiting many steakhouses in NYC and Chicago, I must say this is easily on my list of Top 5 restaurants to visit. Thanks to the team at Chop House for an amazing dining experience and shout out to Joshua for the making our dinner wonderful!

Our first time visiting the Chicago Chop House. Nicko, was amazingly patient and helpful when deciding what to order. The food was delicious! The carrot cake was our favorite!!

Everything was just great! The waiter , Patrick was amazing and attentive. He definitely knew his steaks when we had questions about it. The food came out on a timely matter and our waiter was consistent in checking in on us! Thank you for an amazing experience, we will definitely be back!

Before my review, what's up with the three and a half star rating? Seems like the majority of the reviews here are five stars (deservedly) with a few four stars sprinkled in. Yeah, there are some bad reviews, but doesn't seem like enough to drag the rating down so far. Okay, with that . . . Generally speaking, we're not steakhouse people. We tend to be a more ethnic restaurants, neighborhood cafes sort. That being said, we had a wonderful dinner at the Chicago Chop House. Service was exemplary with our waitress, Grace, being knowledgeable, helpful, friendly without being intrusive. My husband's filet was melt-in-the-mouth delicious, I took a dive and had my first prime rib in 20 years (superb!), and the ambience just right for a steakhouse. Everything we had, from appetizers to sides to dessert was first-rate. A throwback to steakhouses of yore, and certainly rates a repeat (or repeated) visits.

This old style steak house was the favorite part of my Chicago trip. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff were so sweet and thoughtful to include anniversary menus & a celebration crème brûlée which was just absolutely delicious. I got the wet aged 8 oz filet mignon, which was so tender and juicy with an absolute great flavor. On top of it was a big onion ring which I had never seen before but seemed to be signature here at Chicago Chop House. My partner got the chicken parmesan which was a huge portion of spaghetti with red sauce and a big piece of chicken. We chose to share the truffle Mac and cheese which was so delicious and the portion was so big! For drinks we got the Chicago Chop House Rolls Royce Tequila Margarita, and the Chicago Chop House Vodka Blueberry Lemonade Crush. They were absolutely amazing and had me feeling it with one drink! Our waiter Jose was seriously the best. Helped us out a lot with his suggestions and just had the best service! He was very kind and made our experience very smooth with his knowledge of the menu. I'm so happy we chose this place to celebrate such a special date for us, we will hold Chicago Chop House dear to our hearts!

In town for a tech conference, since I am originally from Chicago my team had expectations that I was a Chicago food expert. They put a lot of pressure to deliver. The Chop House did! Our waiter, Jose, and his team provided excellent service. They were very attentive and I never felt like I needed to call for a waiter. We ordered the Wagyu meatballs as a starter which we devoured. Jose recommended two steaks since we decided to order several items we can share. Jose recommended the porterhouse and the bone in Kansas City. Both cuts were properly prepared and we did not leave a piece of steak behind. I preferred the porterhouse because we did medium rare on that cut. The Kansas City was prepared, medium, but it was very well seasoned and flavorful. One of the sides was a truffle mac & cheese that did not last long between the four of us. We threw in broccolini to be healthy. For dessert, we shared a cheesecake and a peach cobbler. For me, the peach cobbler was out of this world. The generous dollop of ice cream really complimented a well made cobbler. The desserts are very healthy portions. I am glad we shared, but we also made sure to not leave anything behind. Great food institutions withstand the test of time. The Chop House left incredible impression of Chicago's finest and satisfied a team of finicky Floridians plus I am visiting food snob team member from Portugal.

What a nice Romantic place for dinner. Restaurant located a couple blocks from our hotel. Menu selection is great, pricey but well worth it.

We visited Chicago Chop House for a birthday dinner, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. We had a reservation, and we were seated promptly, even before the scheduled time. The shrimp appetizer was excellent, and the first loaf of complimentary bread with their whipped butter was a nice touch. The steak was good, though not exceptional, and the house vodka in my vodka tonic was great. The sides, including mashed potatoes and asparagus, were delicious but came in massive portions--definitely enough for two people. Unfortunately, we did have a hiccup when a gnat flew out of the salad, which was off-putting and affected the meal experience. Despite this, the rest of the meal was solid. All in all, Chicago Chop House is a good restaurant, but beyond its rich history, it doesn't stand out much compared to other steakhouse options.

Iconic chop house with aged wet or dry steaks! Classic steak house menu with all the cuts and sides. Wonderful desserts (try the pumpkin cheesecake!) and great cocktails from their own spirits. Super friendly service and a fun old Chicago chop house setting including a piano bar and outdoor al fresco dining. Great for groups too!

Great place for special occasions. Can't go wrong with any of the steaks. Staff was nice and accommodating. Shout out to Sylvia for taking care of us. The highlight of the dinner was the baked Alaska. Imagine a pound cake topped with ice cream and meringue, then drizzled with chocolate and carmel sauce. Bonus points for setting it on fire for a nice presentation (and it toasts the meringue).

Fantastic old-school steakhouse. A piano player knocking out 50s blues in a dark club while I'm sipping a Gibson. Perfect. We tried both the wet-aged and dry-aged filets, accompanied by horseradish and blue cheese. My heart just skipped a beat at the thought of it. The mashed potatoes with garlic and pork belly was fantastic. I loved the Gibson, though CCH should upgrade their cocktail onions to something more robust. Top-notch service. Love this place!

Wow! This classic steakhouse continues to offer exquisite service in a charming room and more than delicious cuisine. The vintage brownstone is dark and cozy. Varnished wood and soft lighting is the perfect backdrop for a family meal or special occasion dinner. Check out the sweet patio before cold weather rolls in. The salads, appetizers, steaks, meatballs and desserts were all perfection. Our martinis were ice cold and refreshing. The wine list is extensive as well. The hostess was warm and welcoming. The server was helpful and attentive. The General Manager stopped by to check on us. We were very well cared for. On the edge of River North, the location is perfect for locals or visitors to our beautiful city. Valet service makes it very easy to drive up and enjoy a dinner.

OMG! I am at a loss for words - this place is every bit of elegant, magical and class From start to finish this was one of the best dinners I have had in Chicago Sylvia was amazing! Her knowledge of the menu, the pairings and sweet attitude made for such an incredible experience I mean, I think the photo speaks for itself, but you truly have to go and try it for yourself and make sure to ask for a seat in Sylvia's section too! P.S. if you're a bourbon drinker... they have their own signature Chicago Chop House bourbon that you can only have in house and that's worth stopping by even for a drink at their bar

I had the pleasure of dining here during a work related stop The staff was amazing. The food was amazing I had filet mignon and salmon cooked to absolute perfection. The atmosphere was so wonderful. I've walked by this place multiple times (have lived here since 2018) - very happy I stopped in. The steak was probably the best I've had in Chicago! Great portions too. Our server Jose was fantastic and the ambiance of the place was very historic Chicago. Will definitely be back!

I chose Chicago Chop House to celebrate my birthday this year. Every year I choose a steak house, and they were the fortunate ones to have been selected. We arrived at our reservation time and was able to get seated right away. Staff was very attentive through out the evening. Overall a very great dining experience. They start you off with free bread and butter. The bread comes out fresh and warm and I believe there's a charge if you want more bread. We also ordered their Baked Truffle Burrata. You get Burrata cheese baked with a marinara sauce and served with ciabatta bread. Very filling especially when you've essentially eaten bread twice already. Big mistake on eating both haha. My wife ordered their Petit Filet medium and I ordered their Bone in Ribeye medium rare, both wet aged. The ribeye was pretty big and perfectly cooked medium rare. The steak was juicy with more than enough fat. Perhaps a little too fatty. My wife's filet mignon was very tender and pretty damn tasty for being cooked a medium. I still prefer my steaks cooked medium rare, but I would ah overall the filet tasted better than my ribeye. We also ordered a side of their Bacon Cheddar Mashed Potatoes. This side came out piping hot and remained that way until the end. It was more than enough food to fill us up. The bacon was thick cut and complicated the cream mashed potatoes very well. We also received free lava cake for my birthday. I love when they do great acknowledgments like this. Would definitely consider returning here.

I had dinner at this well know Chicago steakhouse on NYE. Unfortunately this one will not go on my favorites list. Compared to other steakhouses our service was mediocre and the dishes are overpriced and lacked flavor. Host: Found reservation instantly and seated us right away. Server: Processed portion of food order incorrectly and gave us an incorrect bill, that was later revised. She did apologize and indicated it was a misunderstanding on her part. Added extras: There is a service charge and a house charge added to your bill. Not sure what the difference is between the two and I could not locate it on their website. These are also not reflective of the gratuity. Appetizer: Calamari had good flavor and crunch to it but was definitely not as plentiful as some of the other steakhouses I have been to and especially for the price. Main courses: COLORADO RACK OF LAMB in lollipop form was cooked and seasoned well. Porterhouse was cooked well but lacked in flavor. Ordered a garlic butter enhancement that was helpful. If this was not added the steak would of been bland. Enhancement: Shrimp cooked in garlic butter sauce, This was a good enhancer as it was flavorful and gave a decent amount of shrimp. Sides: Broccolini in garlic sauce was cooked well and full of flavor. Bacon Cheddar Mash Potatoes were very good and complimented the main courses well.

Still one of the best to do it. Everything was on point! Our server, Ilayna, was wonderful. She was professional, friendly, attentive, gave recommendations when asked. The manager came over and spoke with us, which is always a nice touch. The food was outstanding, everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. One small issue but we thought the crust on the key lime pie was too much. Crust 65% filling 35%. But the flavor was excellent. Bravo! We will be back soon.

One of the best steakhouses I've been too. Most steak houses have steak and their other dishes are just average. Here, everything was great. Service was amazing because we came before dinner. No one was here so we got the entire staffs attention. It was very calm when we were there but staff let us know it is usually very busy at dinner time.

Food was amazing! Bacon app with maple syrup, chop salad, filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. The place has great ambiance. Our server Gabe was the best! We told him when we arrived that we had to leave for a show in one hour and 15 mins, and he was on top of it! He had the kitchen split out steaks as we requested, and split the salad table side for us. And we were paid and out of the place in perfect time to make our show!

Everything you would expect from a prime steakhouse. Drinks were great, The Oysters were excellent. Both the steak and the chops we had were seasoned and cooked to perfection Ambiance was dark and romantic...perfect for my visit. Service, of course was 5 stars.

My wife and I recently dined at The Chicago chop house for my birthday and had an amazing experience. For an appetizer, I had the Lobster Escargot and she had the Signature crab cakes. Both were delicious. For my meal, I had the 18 oz. Delmonico with the truffle fries. ( Both seasoned to perfection.) My wife had the petite filet with Broccolini which she really enjoyed. Ordered a perfect Manhattan and a few Florence Martinis to kick off the celebration. We have to also acknowledge CORI who made our first but not last meal here a incredible success!!!!! The restaurant itself reminds you of an classic Chicago steakhouse!!!! 5 stars!!!!

Nice ambiance but really not handicapped accessible. Service was great w/ attentive and not rushed. Wine by the glass is available but ~$20/glass; appetizers & salads are $25-40; steaks are Al la carte & nothing under $50; my bill w/ one glass of lower priced wine, Bert & goat cheese salad, wet-aged petite filet & mashed potatoes was $166 w/ tip. I'd call it a special occassion OR an expense account restaurant.

Cool vibe, nice location with tables on 3 floors, cool decor. Service was good, food came out quickly. Steak was superb-- prime rib and filet mignon were on the top of our lifetime list! Sides were a little basic-- Brussel sprouts a bit under cooked with chunks of bacon. I liked the French onion, my husband did not. I thought crab cake was too rustic-- big chunks of crab-- I prefer more blended. Key lime pie did not meet our Florida standards, but the crème brulee was good!

Having lived in Chicago since 1996 and having been to a million steak restaurants, this is the restaurant against which I compare the others. The chophouse always comes out on top. To paraphrase a singer/songwriter from my era, the chophouse abides. Through whatever happens in life, it is always there for a celebratory dinner or to entertain clients. So the wife and I will keep coming back here for delicious steaks. I prefer the NY strip with horseradish enhancement. The wife always gets a petite filet. Both are delicious. The meat is always well seasoned. You go some places and have to dump half the salt on your steak. Not at the Chophouse. That s not all that's good. The Chophouse has probably the best oysters Rockefeller I have ever had. We order it frequently. In addition, the raw oysters are stellar given the distance from Cape Cod. I assume these are flown fresh. Yes, this restaurant is a bit expensive. But the food is 100% worth it. It's fun to take out of town visitors here because of the photos on fhe walls, which include politicians, gangsters and others.

I used to live in Chicago several years ago and tried numerous steak houses yet never this one. I had a client meeting in town last night and decided to try this out since it was close to my hotel. I have to say I was blown away by the experience. Food was magnificent. I had a filet that was medium rare. It was cooked perfectly. Sides were awesome too. The waiters and waitresses that helped us were fantastic. Very helpful and we were served all night with great food and drinks. They did not miss a beat. The dessert was so so good. The bathroom was the cleanest bathroom I think I have ever seen in a restaurant. It was like it was just cleaned. Not a spot anywhere. I would definitely go back. The price was a bit high but it was well worth it for the excellent food and great staff. A plus for me.

From the espresso martini to the cherry pie dessert and the Kansas City steak in the middle , we had a very delicious meal. And the service was excellent.

Best steak I've had in a while! Dry aged is my recommendation! Also, the server was fantastic and he was training a new person as well. Great French onion soup, too! The drinks were on point and I'm glad we dined there on our trip to Chicago. Ambiance was perfect - check out all the cool stuff on the walls!

I've been before and was not entirely impressed as we sat near the bar downstairs and it was a bit cramped with our large party of 7, I was going to give it another chance as the service was good but the steak just average. Now reading the restaurant managers responses to the reviews I will never spend my money here. Learn to take some criticism, that's what happens when you run a restaurant.

Food was good but I've had better for the price and the location was beautiful. many errors were made in regard to our service. Our server did his best to help us but could use improvement.

Great ambience with oldies by Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Henry Mancini, and other classic steakhouse music. The Chilean Seabass was very good and the sauce was light and a tiny bit sweet which tasted great. The burger was amazing because it was done just right the way I asked, And the toppings (grilled onions, provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato) We're really good. The fries that came with it were tasty with a little bit of Parmesan cheese on top. They were advertised as truffle fries, but I didn't taste a truffle part. But they were still good. Our waiter Joshua was really nice, and had the right combination of being attentive, but not intrusive which is a sign of a great server. Overall, it was a great experience, and the lighting was dark enough, but not too dark. And the surrounding walls have many pictures of all kinds of Chicago, history, such as meat, packers, defenders, those who went to jail, and builders. The bread is an amazing ciabatta... the best I ever had... it was perfectly light and chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside, but very fluffy at the same time.

The place feels like you are stepping back in time. I loved the decor and the music. The food was pretty good. I ordered the chopped salad and I guess the server didn't feel like that was good enough. My boyfriend ordered a Delmonico steak and we shared a couple sides. We barely finished our meal and they were clearing our plates and rushing us out the door. We spent $200 on food and iced tea, geez give us a few minutes to chat. We were barely there an hour from walking in to the restaurant to leaving. Harry Carey had better service and prices. Didn't feel rushed.

Had dinner with family 2 days ago, everyone liked their steaks and sides. The server was excellent and service and ambiance were great, we ate on the patio outside. I was the only one that had fish, broiled Chilean bass, definitely overpriced, it was not fresh and lacked flavor and firmness. It's unfortunate to pay that price for a meal and not be satisfied, I did eat some of it but was disappointed. Said no to a doggie bag.

We booked a reservation at a different location and the Uber driver dropped us off here instead. It was the best mix up ever. I learned this is the oldest restaurant in Chicago. What a cool experience! The pictures in the restaurant were so cool. Go explore each floor at the restaurant The food was SO good. We got steak and oysters, mushrooms, asparagus, potatoes, fries and carrot cake. The petite steak was enough food for me. It was cooked perfectly. The server did rush us at all. Great for a date night or company dinner.

It's just not worth it. We went as a group thinking we are in for a treat going to one of the best steakhouse in Chicago. We were very very disappointed. The lighting is so low, can't even see what's on the menu. Is there something to hide on the food they don't want customers to see? We ordered their dry aged tomahawk and thinking it would be one of the best steak we would have, oh no. The steak was cold and lack of any flavor. My wife and I got back to the hotel, and we were throwing up. Not even deserve 1 start! Tourist warning...a place you should stay away from.

Way way Overpriced for its food and environment. The outdoor seating was a bit unorganized. What really was messed up was the weird charge for credit card fee. See attached picture.

Prior reviews mention the prime rib is incredible, and they did not lie. Ordered the prime rib and ribeye; multiple people agreed it was the best prime rib we have had in our life! The food is amazing, but the real treat was our server Joshua! Wonderful experience. 6 stars.

Food was great & so was the service! Ambiance, however, was sorely lacking as they had the music at MAX volume. We had 6pm reservations and 30 minutes into our time there we couldn't hear anything that was said.

Within this week I went to a few different steak houses. The food was pretty good. The portions were large! And the service was really good. The ambiance was nice, but I did feel the tables were a little close to one another which made the servers super close as they were presenting food. I do love their giant liquor bottles when you walk through the door. I also love how this is a steak house which honors the 50% off for officers. My friend and I had a nice experience.

TLDR: Food very good, but it's the haven of the Viagra-popping older dudes trying to impress, those with corporate accounts, or some combination of the two. Food as good can be had in other places without the premium. Came here for the customary birthday steak dinner, trying to see where in the Chicago steak pantheon this sits. Service was great; the waiter was attentive and our water glasses stayed full. We sat upstairs, and it definitely has the feel of old Chicago, making deals with your alderman who can't be seen talking to you. Because I pay attention to such things, the soundtrack is ALL vocal jazz. Sinatra, Satchmo, Tony Bennett. Got the lobster "escargot" and the lobster bisque to start, but if the bisque was a disappointment (it was), the "escargot" was not. Buttery, cheesy, decadent. I would eat three more plates of this expeditiously. Get that and thank me later. Got the KC dry aged, and my wife got the Cowgirl ribeye. Not bad at, but I had no idea "horseradish butter" existed, so I ordered that as a topping to my steak. Good Lord, the things we can do with butter. Praise. If you like horseradish, get that. On account of my birthday, they gave me a complimentary chocolate lava cake, which was really, really good. We got the bill, and..well, for two drinks each, two appetizers, two steaks, two sides...whew. The sticker shock is real, because I am not of the population popping Viagra to impress a comely lass, nor was I paying with a corporate account. All in all, a really good time and experience.

We took our leadership team to the the Chicago Chophouse to celebrate a big milestone. Everything was perfect. The food, ambiance and service were all spot on. The Chicago Chophouse is a must for me every time I visit Chicago!

Their FEES ARE INSANE!!!! 5% House Fee, 21% Large Party Fee and a Holiday Fee of 21%. NONE of this disclosed up front in a transparent way. We will NEVER be back.

For a PARTY OF TWO they add a mandatory 18% fee and 5% fee so deduct that from your tip or ask them to remove it. And you should never believe the fee goes towards what they say it's going towards unless you can see their books. Restauranteurs lie out of their ass all the time.

Recently dined at the Chop House on a business trip. Food was wonderful! Nice location in a historic building that has been well-maintained. My favorite dishes were the Wagyu meatballs, truffle mac, and the baked Alaska.

I can't say enough how great our experience was at the Chop House. It exceeded my expectations! The atmosphere was like a true old school steakhouse with blues music playing. The service was top notch. My wet aged filet was perfectly cooked and had the most amazing flavor. The sides and dessert were just as flavorful! Thank you for an amazing night that I will remember for years to come!!
