I went for my birthday and had a reservation which we had to sit at the bar because the table they had reserved didn’t have seats with a back and I was told by Becky that they could not do anything about that while sitting at the bar another party came in and was seated and complained as well about the seats and to my surprise she gave them chairs with backs which really bothered me to be spending so much money and not be treated equally which I feel like it was based on my color! But the food was amazing

EXCELLENT from the time we sat down. Oysters on point. Spring rolls were delicious and sea bass cooked to perfection. The martini selection was fun and tasty. So glad we popped in!

Grilled oysters are pretty good and the truffle fries. Lamb Chops are good. Service staff kd very nice and atmosphere lovely.

At the corner of Indiana and Cullerton this place is truly a magnificent experience. Everything comes out so fresh, from the oysters, to the sushi to the gumbalaya. The cocktails were strong and tasty, definitely made with fresh ingredients. Highly recommended, very tasty and a great environment.

I absolutely love this place! Every time we go to Chicago we always have to go here. The oysters and sushi are always fresh. It’s nice and elegant inside and all the waiters/waitresses are exceptional. I definitely recommend if your in the area.

Really enjoyed this restaurant..the grilled and fresh oysters were fantastic. Our waiter was helpful and all our food was delicious...we will definitely be back.

Disclosure I was here for business so didn't pay, but can easily rate the service and good. Service was great, seemed like it was always easy to get someone without them seeming over the top. The food was awesome, had some naked cowboy and one other type of oyster, cold, clean and ready to go. Calamari had a great crust. Also had the lobster tail which was really good, highlight was the oysters though. Great cocktails also.

First time dining at the Chicago Oyster House in years, but unlikely that it will be our last visit. Delicious Cocktails--a traditional Espresso Martini and truly unique Tiramisu Martini. Highly recommended. A good but not great slightly limited wine list was the only disappointment. The food was generally outstanding. If you want a really different soup experience I urge you to try the Gumbalaya Soup: slow-cooked brown roux sprinkled with thyme, tomato, onion, garlic, celery, green bell pepper, paprika, okra, chicken, andouille sausage, rice, mussels and shrimp. The grilled oyster offerings were plentiful and the raw oyster options sufficiently varied. To experience the oyster options I urge you to order the Grilled Oysters Combo comprised of 2 of each C.O.H -- garlic, cilantro and cheese; ICHI -- jalapeño, scallions, ginger and zesty soy; FIRECRACKER -- spices, herbs and lime juice; and the traditional Oysters Rockefeller offering -- spinach and cheeses. We didn't think there was room left for entrees so we had two remarkably fresh seafood appetizers: Crab Cakes consisting of lump crab meat seasoned and baked not pan fried (refreshing); and, the Lobster Roll -- succulent tail meat served chilled New England style with mayo and celery salt in toasted bun with deliciously seasoned fried pickles. Tiramisu and coffee for dessert completed a wonderful meal.

We had dinner here during restaurant week. I chose the clam chowder, lamb chops, and cheesecake. I could not have been more impressed. The chowder was full of large pieces of clam and had a beautiful creaminess. I've never had lamb that was this tender before and it was cooked to perfection. We finished the meal with cheesecake that had a rich creamy consistency. The wait staff anticipated every need we had before we knew we had it. Neither of us had ever had oysters on the shell before and our waitress helped us pick out a selection that was perfect. I would encourage anyone to take advantage of the restaurant week offerings.

My daughter and I were going to the theater and decided to give this place a try beforehand. We found street parking right around the corner and in having a reservation we didn't have to wait at all. In fact it was so early in the evening that there were only two other tables. We had the calamari and the lobster roll for appetizers, both were very good. (The lobster roll comes with fried pickles, which we did not care for.) They cut the lobster roll in half for us and by the time we finished those two things we didn't have a whole lot of room, so we ordered one sushi roll each. We had the Chicago and the Volcano and they were perfect. We had one drink each and splurged on brownie a la mode ($14!) for dessert. Their prices are a bit on the high side, plus they add a 20% service charge to every bill. I didn't mind this because they are upfront about it and tell you on the receipt that the service charge is divided among the staff, and you have the option to tip additional to your server, although it's only "suggested." And they have a few amounts calculated for you. Our server was Beckie and she was very attentive so I did add more. It was $175 for the two of us so we won't do it often, but everything was fresh and delicious so for special occasions it would be great.

Great atmosphere in this spot. They do have a nice selection of fresh oysters. The sea bass and seafood pasta got good reviews from our group. The steaks fell a little flat though. Service was polite and prompt.

What can I say! I love this place. They never disappoint! Walking in you're always greeted. Staff is very friendly and I've never had to wait to be seated. The ambience is so nice. There is a bar area when you first walk in that you can sit at or if you want to dine in and have it more dinner style you can walk back into the dinning area. The food is always bomb! Every single thing I've tasted so far has been amazing! You def need to put this on your list and check it out if you already haven't

The service was pretty good. I went for a team work dinner and used the back room. Not a lot of space in the front but everyone was accommodating and kind. Food was very tasty!! Nothing out of this world but an overall decent experience and would come again. The seafood tower was decent.

FIrst Time Here and I unfortunately would run to go back. Any Entree doesn't come w a side included. When you're paying over $75 for something they can throw in a broccoli. The calamari had dark breading tasted like the oil was bad. Calamari was soft inside but needed extra lemon. I ordered salmon didnt have enough dressing on the top. As much as I paid, they should of had a small dressing on the side. The fries had no cheese, but the mayonnaise sauce was the BOMB! The steak was incredible. Very good and tasty. I wasn't asked if I wanted another drink. The busboy was more attentive. The tip is included in your bill so if you had good or bad service doesn't matter its being included in the bill.

The food was absolutely amazing!!! The wagyu filet melts in your mouth. Lamb chop was so flavorful. Oysters were so fresh, sweet and milky. Lobsters were cooked to perfection. Scallops were tender and juicy. Ceviche had a great pair with the chips. Desserts were awesome not too sweet. Loved everything about the experience here! Service was great and friendly. All food came out at a timely manner. Love the atmosphere and decor inside. Definitely come back to try more dishes!

The food is very sub par. Lost of the food tastes microwaved. Very over priced. The service is only done by the owners. I'm not sure if the staff is even tipped out. The chairs and tables are very wobbly. Not sure if I'll return again. .. better off eating oysters at home tbh And they hit you with an auto grat for two people never again!

I was in the area for a work conference and we decided to stop in for dinner since it was within walking distance from our hotel. We ere very surprised to see the variety/diversity of food options, especially Asian/sushi. We were assuming it would be more seafood centric. I had the chicken teriyaki and it was soo good! So flavorful and it was a nice portion. My coworkers had the sea bass and the seafood pasta and they also really enjoyed the meal.

Sat at the bar. It was relaxing. Had a nice conversation with bartender. The martinis were perfect. A good amount of grilled calamari was satisfying.

The food was so good. They had a 3 course dinner special for $49 and it was delicious. I had clam chowder, gumbolaya, crab legs and key lime pie. The restaurant was quiet and the wait staff very attentive and prompt. Perfect for a date night.

Oysters were fresh. We love the Kumamoto oysters and Blue Point oysters. Sea bass was yummy! Service was good. Price is kind of higher than expected considering location and ambiance.

Not a Big Bang for the Buck... outside of the oysters. This is a hard review to write because my feelings are all over the place. My drink was delicious, the oysters were fresh, and my meal was ok... but my heart hurt when our bill was almost $300. I'm not a stranger to high dollar meals, but I don't feel like my experience was "worth it". I visited the establishment for restaurant week. We began with drink s and oysters at the bar. I ordered a sidecar. Again delicious.. but it seemed small but pricey. I feel like I was done after a sip or two. The fried calamari was my favorite thing I ordered. Def worth every penny. The Gumbolaya (sp) was delicious! No complaints there. For my meal I had the lobster tail and ordered the Wasabi mashed as a side. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops with a side of broccoli. The lobster was a nice size, yet not really seasoned at all. The wasabi mashed potatoes were bland. Never again.. pass go.. don't stop. My boyfriends lamb chops were cooked well, yet also lacked real seasoning. The flavor came from a glaze like sauce over them. It was a little too thick for my liking. The broccoli was fresh but also lacked flavor. I ordered the cheese cake. The slice was ok. My boyfriend selected the brownie and ice cream. It was good, but def not worth the $12. I'll be back for oysters and calamari only. Maybe a drink if I'm feeling like splurging. Pictured you'll see a volcano roll. It was my fiends. Can't speak to the taste or price. Just posted so y'all will now what to expect!

The Oyster House in Chicago has sadly missed the mark on so many fronts. Billed as a seafood haven, it presents itself more as an inexpert attempt at Asian fusion. Upon entering, one is met with a deafening cacophony, instantly detracting from any expectation of a serene dining experience. Service leaves much to be desired. The waiting staff appear detached, almost aloof, making diners feel more like an afterthought than valued customers. The inattentiveness is striking, setting a rather grim tone for the rest of the meal. The pricing here is baffling. Raw oysters range from 3 for $20 to 6 for $24, which would be justifiable if the oysters weren't so diminutive. Equally overpriced is the linguine, priced at $40 despite boasting a meager offering of two shrimp, two mussels, two scallops, and four little necks. The chowder and gumbolaya further compound these grievances. A lone little neck clam, shell intact, adorns the chowder, while the gumbolaya is marred by embarrassingly tiny shrimp and a mere two slices of andouille sausage. As if to add insult to injury, the linguine arrives overcooked, its intended light wine sauce rendered heavy and excessively oily. To top it all off, the establishment seems to mask its substandard service and cuisine by imposing a 20% gratuity regardless of party size, effectively penalizing diners for their own shortcomings. The sense of dissatisfaction this leaves is profound, leaving one feeling duped into a tourist trap with a punitive $50 per person cancellation policy. This was a letdown, to put it mildly.

What the hell! The price??? And neighborhood? I don't think so.I just got back from New Orleans. 1 dozen 1/2 shell. Prices $20.00 to $ 26.00. Sorry!

VERY pricey. I had an OK experience, but won't be racing back there. They have decent food and OK service, but again...the prices are insane. You can do better downtown.

Came here for a solo dinner to celebrate my new job. I sat at the bar and Agnes was my bartender - she was fantastic! I ordered the grilled oysters that were absolutely delicious and possibly the best oysters I've ever had. I also ordered the NY strip & truffle fries....good but not the best I've ever had and not sure it was worth the price. I will 100% come back for the oysters and to try their sushi. They add an automatic 20% gratuity but I have no complaints because the service was top notch. I'll be back!

Wide selection of oysters, but not especially flavorful. Lobster roll was very stingy, tiny pieces of lobster meat. Overpriced for what was served. Overall, disappointed.

Updated- auto 20% service charge on a table for 1 is a non starter for me. We tip on service not entitlements. I Wont be back. Dropped on for a sushi roll- pretty standard. Place has a nice feel. Clean lines and plenty of street side windows. Can get a little loud as fyi.

Delicious but so so pricey. Tried two appetizers for takeout and after tax, service fee and a 20% tip it came out to $62 for 6 kumamoto oysters and 6 slices of tuna tartare. The food was nicely packaged (the oysters came on ice). The tuna tartare is not what you think (read the description), as it is not a regular minced tartare but seared ahi tuna. Everything was fresh and tasty, just a very rare treat, not an every day option.

Great spot for a meeting in Chicago. Great food and right down the street from my hotel and convention center. If you're looking for a nice dinner while in town. Make sure to look them up.

I have waited patiently to look back at this experience with a level head and with having several dinner services elsewhere to form a proper frame of reference and comment fairly. I stumbled upon my receipt from October 2021 today so I am taking it as a sign to finish this draft. Hopefully it exorcises this experience which haunts my mind. Simply: I will never go back. The price is one thing but the bumbling execution after being seated has been a bad memory that I revisit upon seeing every other bill at places for less or comparable cost. And so far this meal has been a solid winner since October 2021 for my worst restaurant experience. My wife and I had identical pieces of fish prepared differently and both were improperly cooked. Hers came overdone and mine underdone. Overdone because the albumin (i.e., the white stuff) was present all over it. Undercooked because the inside of the fish fillet was semi-translucent. Both tasted bad regardless. The rest of the food was not memorable. Neither were the drinks. The dessert is another story entirely. But first an aside regarding service. Service is usually the minimum second star I add for a poor experience. However, when I asked for a dessert menu I was denied. I was told we would receive it upon completion of our dinner. I have never been denied a dessert menu upon asking. I was too dumbfounded to make a clarification as to why we had to wait as she walked away after stating this to us like we were children avoiding vegetables. We didn't finish anything and just waited; declining eventual offers to box up anything. I should have also declined dessert but I just had to insist upon it and have since regretted it. And the cherry on top was the dessert peeing on me. A cheesecake, specifically, peed on me here. This dessert was poorly conceptualized because it should have been a cake and not a cheesecake. Allow me to explain the dessert special: A pipette with Amaretto was inserted into a cheesecake with the intention of making it boozy. A non porous cheesecake which, upon pressing said pipette per the encouragement of the aforementioned server, demonstrated the laws of physics all over my shirt. Pressing the pipette did nothing as the dessert was a chilled solid. So greater pressure was thus needed after repeat attempts. These repeated attempts with increasing pressure created a fissure inside the cheesecake. And the increased pressure was finally greater than the strength of the cold solid mass of cheesecake resisting this liquid. This led to the cheesecake rapidly giving way and a geyser of Amaretto shooting out from a weak spot in the side of the cheesecake. And its pathway was me and my shirt. A fitting end I guess. The silver lining of our meal was that it inspired us to go out to higher quality restaurants thereafter. The prices here rival or exceed that of River North establishments but the quality you get here is average at best.

Stopped at the Chicago oyster house before the Rammstein show at Soldier field for dinner. We were at a hotel around the corner so it was nice to walk to places in the city. We started with a bottle of pinot noir and the oysters rockefeller. The oysters were super big and grilled with spinach and cheese. Really tasty. For our main we split the bone in ribeye with a side of grilled asparagus and and it was solid. Was it out of this world? No. Was it very good for the value? Yes. Our server was very nice and we talked for a while. Super nice neighborhood restaurant.

Very nice Sunday evening experience here. We were early for our reservation but they accommodated us with no delay. There is a small bar area. Pleasant decor and timely service. 3 in the party had the holiday prix fixe menu while I ordered off the regular menu. The crab cake was served with no sauce of any kind which everyone thought was slightly odd. It was a little dry but tasty. Oysters were good along with a sushi roll we ordered as an app. Tuna steak was wonderful. Drink menu is rather extensive although a little

Great little spot near McCormick Place with an excellent vibe and really first class service. Being primarily a seafood place, I went with 2 oysters Rockefeller and Grilled C. O. H oysters. They were divine. Some of the best I've had. I also tried the Tiger Shrimp app. That was a little bland to be honest and I wish I would have just done more oysters. Decided to mix it up with my entree and get chicken teriyaki with a side of Sautéed Mushroom With Sake. Wow. What impressed me was the portion size. Really nice full plate of chicken and the sauce was great. Mushrooms were delish too. Finished it all off with my fav dessert, Key Lime Pie. And it didn't disappoint. Highly recommend this spot. The mini hit towel that expands is a nice touch too! Next time I come I think I'll give some sushi a try.

Would not bother coming here. This place needs to go ahead and let some other culinary experience inhabit the space. Food is "meh" and prices are inflated for the quality. Additionally, buyer beware, they will tack on an additional 20% service charge regardless of party size. Keep scrolling and go elsewhere.

What a nice surprise! The Crabcake is reason alone to check this place out! My experience with the staff trying to squeeze in a last minute reservation for a group of 5 was commendable! So easy to work with and service oriented all the way!

A was very disappointed in the food at the Chicago Oyster House on Saturday December 23, 2023. The food was unseasoned and cold. The tip was automatically added to the bill for a party of 2. I have been to this restaurant before and the food was much better.

So it was date night and my love took me here. It was the perfect fall Chicago night. The atmosphere inside is very eclectic. There were several groups, couples and families of four. This beautiful restaurant on the corner of 19th and Indiana not quite downtown but not far from downtown either. It is around the corner from the Wintrust Arena We had to ride around for about 10 minutes to find a place to park. There is only on the street parking. But because it was a beautiful night the three block walk was not bad. We tried the Fried Oysters and Crab Cake as our appetizers. Unfortunately I forgot to take the picture when the appetizers came.. silly me I was only able to capture the last of the crab cake. Neither one of us had fried oysters before my guy said they melted in his mouth. I felt they were a little chewy. The crab cake was filled with crab meat it was good but tasted better with the melted butter I had from my DELICIOUS crab legs. We also had Truffle fries and spinach. We washed it down with sparkling water and he had a whiskey sour which he said was not sour enough then he switched to an Old Fashion that was really good because he had a second one. I had two Hennessy Sidecars that were delicious just not strong enough. Becky was our waitress and she was phenomenal she's been working for them for twenty years! We sat next to the fireplace which I really liked. The ambiance was very nice not too loud and not real quiet like perfect even though there was a party of 20 for a private event on the bar side and other patrons on the main side. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I would go again. ENJOY

The service was very good, and I brought my man here for our aniversary and he loved the food so much! it made him so happy to come here and reminded him of his time on the east coast a lot. Thank you all so much for giving us a good time!

Stopped by since it touted itself as a fish food place and its Lent (GF insisted on fish). I'd give it 2.5 stars of I could. First the good- the baked clams were delicious. I don't normally get clams but these definitely stood out. Especially the one with Jalapenos. Also, the wait staff was quite attentive to a point where I had to tell them to come back, since we weren't ready to order the minute we sat down. The negative: 1) Way overpriced for the area and what you get. I've been to high and to dive bar places, including fish food places and this place just gouges. The portions were tiny, both the main course and the sides. 2) The wine, while a decent selection, was not a full pour. Even though it is brought out in "beakers", those are normally fully. Here, full pour was actually about 2/3 of a regular pour. Basically, you'd need to order 3+ glasses of wine to feel like you may have gotten regular 2 glasses. 3) The automatic gratuity of 20% and the way it is presented is ridiculously confusing. I normally pay over 20% tip even when I don't think a person deserves it (they were just fine here). The issue is that the bill makes it seem like one is paying way more money than necessary (almost presented backwards). It would be easy to pay extra 30%, on top of the bill, due to its format. Intentional or not, it is very off-putting. I would maybe come back for the baked clams...but that's it. One and done. Apps, drinks, entre and $200+ later and was still hungry. Had to walk down the street to order more food.

Food was not bad just disappointing it could have been compared to a over priced steak house. I was served truffle fries which I enjoy but these taste like a cheese filled potato strip! Had the pork chop it was good big and cooked right but overpriced. We had to wait a long time but the waitress was very communicative and offered great customer service in explaining what was as happening. The place looks bigger and fancier then it is. The dessert cheesecake and key lime pie save the time and go to the local grocery store and buy one out the freezer that's what they did---

I guess my last review was paid to be removed. Customer service is very bad by management. The management was so nasty to me. If you read other reviews they have said the same thing. Posted below please read. They made a mistake and the manger Beckie would not acknowledge their mistake she was very rude and unprofessional when speaking to me. Very insulting even told me I can take my money somewhere else. She don't want my money. Never apologized didn't care how she dole yo me. The host was very rude speaking to me when I was not talking to him trying to intimidate me. I've patronized this business for many years. I asked for the host name. Beckie would not tell me she yelled saying what am I go do get the whole staffed fired. I asked for the owner name and she refused to tell me. I felt totally discriminated against.

Im writing this review while I'm sitting here. The service is that bad! I came in on Tuesday July 26th and Saturday at the bar. We ordered two lemon drop martinis is to start off with. We had to wait about 25 minutes for our bartender to come with the drinks and then take our order. We then ordered edamame and two orders of sushi. The edamame came out 15-20 minutes later. At this point I'm finish my first drink and was trying to order another. I liked the Lemon drop but my date did not. She returned her drink and ordered the lychee martini. I waited another 25 min while the bartender did everything else but make my new drink a cosmo. Finally another bartender came over and I asked her can she make my drink and she said is only helping. When my bartender return the new bartender whispered to her and told her I was looking for my drink. She hurried and made and it's the worse cosmo I've ever tasted. Currently still waiting for my sushi and to get her attention to take this drink back. This is the worse service ever. It's another 20 minutes and the second lychee martini wasn't made. She just came over and asked do we still want it. Hmmm yes smh. Ten minutes went by and no lychee martini. I finally got my glass wine. They can't mess that open just open the bottle and pour. Sushi was average and the edamame was spicy but needed salt. I'm giving it one star because she took the last round of drinks off the bill ( I wish I could give a 1/2 of star ) and I'm hoping if we try it again for table service it would be better. We live around the corner in the south loop but as of now we won't be back anytime soon. Plus the tip was included that's why the service is garbage. Smh It was that bad!

Four for the great oysters, sushi and scallops. Sea bass was cooked well but salty. What's missing is the wow factor for the prices. Paid $300 for a dinner for two. I would go back though.

COH is excellent!!! Food was tasty and service was awesome. Our server came by to check on us almost every 20 minute, and our water was filled every 10-15 minutes. Coming from LA, I can't give this place enough praise. With all the greatness, the price maybe pricy for the locals, but I'd say it was a bargain for a night of indulging. The sashimi was fresh and the clam chowder was delicious. Though the rolls were great, I'm never big on any rolls ( one of those it's me not you thing). Of course, the Oysters were out of this park fresh!! I also loved loved the grilled asparagus. To end this great meal, the desserts were overwhelmingly GREAT (lychee sorbet was just awesome!!) I'm sure I'll be back before I head back to the beautiful LA (the weather here is going into the 30s, and it might even snow tomorrow in the middle of APRIL. This is probably why the last time I came to Chicago was 5 years ago!!!) Oh well, COH is awesome. I highly recommend it!!
