"The pop-up named after the owner's dog currently operates out of Avedano’s in Bernal Heights. We could go on and on about the evenly seasoned sourdough bagels, which are perfectly crisp on the outside and good enough to eat plain straight out of the bag. But we'll keep it brief so you can exit this page and get your pre-orders in (it's pre-orders only Thursdays and Fridays, and walk-ups only on Saturdays). " - julia chen 1
"Chicken Dog Bagels is still a bagel pop-up favorite, especially as others have gone on to permanent spots. Expect bagels with an almost baguette-like crust and a not-too-dense interior. The cream cheese is made in-house and comes in flavors like chive and scallions, and horseradish and shallot; the bagel dog, meanwhile, makes for a good respite from a plain old bagel and cream cheese. If you’re an Everything bagel fan, this one comes loaded with poppy and toasted sesame seeds, but fair warning: The line can get lengthy, resulting in long waits, so smart folks will want to place pre-orders if possible." - Dianne de Guzman

"Chicken Dog Bagels is a popular pop-up by baker Alex Rogers, known for his organic, sourdough-based bagels. The pop-up offers various sandwiches on Saturdays, including a fan favorite 'dog log' with a hot dog wrapped in bagel dough. Rogers' attention to detail is evident in the hand-rolled, small-batch bagels."
"Chicken is the name of a very cute old lady Chihuahua, and also a wildly popular bagel pop-up in the Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. Both belong to baker Alex Rogers, who grew up on H&H bagels in New York before working at the esteemed (and now closed) 20th Century Cafe and the naturally leavened pizza spot PizzaHacker. Now he’s popping up at neighborhood butcher shop Avedano’s Meats a couple mornings each week, and the line reliably winds down the sunny block." - ByThe Bon Appétit Staff & Contributors
