We were doing escape rooms nearby. We planned to have dinner after our games but we had so much fun over there, we opted to do another room, this making it super late for dinner so plans had to change. On our way to a cookie shop called Insomnia, we walked by and discovered Chicken G's. What caught our eye was that they open until 1am AND they were Halal which is a must for a member of our group. Upon entering the restaurant, it was a bit weird as there was such a big open space with couches as if it was a lobby of a Hotel. Like if you sat at one of the couches, you're literally staring at the cashier desk where you place your food orders. If you go up a few steps of stairs, there's a small area with some tables and chairs for dine in orders. We came around 10pm and yes, it's late, but there's still a few hours before they closed, yet, a lady started mopping the dining area so when we had to walk back down to get our food, the floor was SLIPPERY. Also, idk if their restrooms were out of order or what but a member of our group went downstairs and he said he saw a playground for like kids and the bathroom wasn't open? That was a bit inconvenient as our hands are all oily and dirty from the food. Surprisingly, even after we finished eating, there were still people waiting for their orders and a short line to place orders too!
Now, onto the food. The food came out fairly quick... I'd say 15-20 mins. I didn't mind since that means the food is fresh and made after the order so the food isn't just sitting out already made. One person in our group got combo 1 which is basically a thick piece of toast, 1 drumstick, 1 thigh and a choice of side - fries, Mac n cheese or coleslaw (about $12). Another person got one of their chicken sandwiches that comes with 1 side (around $12) and she loved it. She said it was super well seasoned and flavorful. The piece of chicken was HUGE. Then me and 2 others got their friend/family combo (around $39?) which comes with 4 drums, 4 thighs, 3 toasts, and 3 sides. Those prices are pretty damn fair nowadays with everything being so expensive. Each order came with some kind of mayo sauce and a yellow, spicy aioli? Not too sure what it was. The chicken had a slight spiciness too it but not too much and was SUPER crispy. They fried it really well and the chicken was juicy and I would say pretty well seasoned. Chicken was a solid 8/10. I would prefer mine to be more spicy. The fries was well seasoned but I personally like crispier fries so I'll give it a 6/10.
What's awesome about this place was they had a beverage dispenser with cups on the side. I thought it would be water but it was some Masala Chai Tea I believe! Warm and refreshing!,I would definitely appreciate a water fountain though.
They have a small counter with napkins, forks, knives, and small plastic sauce containers right next to their ketchup pump. I guess we came so late that there wasn't any ketchup left and had to ask for packets.
I'm sure they're still working out some things as they just opened not long ago but definitely solid place for Halal fried chicken!
