I never would expected the food and services to be this nice. We were looking for a Vietnamese restaurant to eat at. I was short on time so we decided to try this restaurant. To my surprise it was very well a wholesome experience both in delicious food and customer service. After we ordered they gave us three cups for delicious chicken soup what a very distinct taste. White taste bud and soul was satisfied. I had the pleasure to eat I believe wet chow fun which is really good crispy on the outside vegetables add a sauce to die for. It was very unique and taste and only found out that the dishes were authentic from Malaysia and Singapore. They also have fresh water soaked with fruits. The taste was so refreshing. After we ate the kind owner gave us two free dessert in which it was not super sweet, but just perfect. Overall we are definitely coming back and bringing are appetite. The price was fair but the value is beyond price. Highly recommended this place if you trying something new.

The Hainan Chicken is soft, tender and tasty. The Assam Laksa is spicy but full of fish flavor. It tastes like a blend of spicy pork soup plus sour fish soup. Self-service with free watermelon water, sauces and utensils. I will try the Fried rolls and chicken next time. Thai tea is good too and I like the container.

What a hidden gem! The name of this restaurant belies the fact that it’s a top-tier Malaysian Chinese spot—serving some of the best Nyonya/Straits Chinese cuisine I’ve had in the U.S.! I ordered the Hainanese Chicken Rice, and it was outstanding. The chicken was tender, and the skin was so delicate it was almost jelly-like—melting on the tongue. The variety of accompanying sauces was superb, each one enhancing the dish in a different way. The complimentary chicken broth tasted like it had been simmering for days, rich and full of depth. Even the rice was exceptional, infused with a hint of coconut and subtle, aromatic spices I couldn’t quite identify. It was different from Singaporean-style Hainanese Chicken and a wonderful surprise. If you're looking for a good vegetable dish, check out the kangcun belecan (water spinach/空心菜). It's amazingly complex with a strong scent of fermented fish sauce that might put off those unfamiliar with Southeast Asian cuisine, but everyone else will love it! The portions are generous, so I'll be having it for lunch tomorrow! I also had a chance to try a complimentary dessert made from what tastes like tofu pudding and topped with pieces of fresh lychee. This was delicious as well! I’ll be back next time to try the char kway teow!

Google
I’m trying to look for the best Malaysian restaurant in the bay area and this is definitely a top contender! The nasi lemak was one of the best I ever had where the ayam rendang was perfectly spicy! Not a huge fan of the salad but my grandmother loved it! Only place that I tried gave us prawn crackers which gave it so much more of an authentic feel!

Google
Most authentic Malaysian food I've had outside of Malaysia, period. Chao Kuay Tiew has so much wok hei. Hainan chicken was tender and flavorful. We are so glad to have found this hidden gem.

Google
One of the few authentic Malaysian restaurants in Bay Area. Well-furnished and clean interior is an added bonus. Highly recommend the Char Kuay Teow. They also have Assam Laksa, which is difficult to find here. Ayam Penyet was also delicious. Penang Achar and the rice could be better, but overall would definitely eat here again! Free self-serve variety of sauces. Free soup as well (it was Chicken Herbal Soup tonight).

Google
This place is a nice little "hole-in-a-wall" type of place if you are looking for Malaysian / Singaporean food. The area might not look much but the interior is nicely done. It's clean, modern and well-kept. The food quality is excellent and in fact, I feel that some of their dishes are done better than other Malaysian restaurants in Bay area (at least those that we have tried). My favorites are char kway teow (highly recommend), nasi lemak, ayam penyet and hor fun. When we talk to the staff, they shared that they takes great pride in sourcing for quality ingredient, eg the rice noodles is specially ordered from a factory in SFO, and they do not keep the noodles as the texture will changed drastically.

Yelp
I grew up eating South East Asian cuisine and always find myself craving it. I knew I had to swing by and try this place out when I was in town. I stopped in on an early Saturday afternoon, the place was packed, and all the tables were full. I had to wait a bit until a table was available to order. I ordered the ayam penyet, the chicken was well seasoned. The skin was golden and crispy, and the meat succulent. All the accoutrements were flavorful and complimented the dish. Don't forget to use the house made sauces too! I had to try the char way teow. It was served atop a banana leaf. Another dish packed with umami flavor, and wasn't too greasy, and definitely did not disappoint. Chicken Licious was definitely worth the wait for its authentic flavors and good portion sizes. I'll definitely be a return customer.

Yelp
malaysian approved - we got the chicken licious fried rice, assam laksa, nasi lemak and kangkung belacan. Everything tasted super super delicious and the service was great. Took me right back home.

Yelp
Came by for lunch the other day and it was a phenomenal experience, just like in Southeast Asia! Despite the name being Chicken Licious, I felt the strength of their food is in their Malaysian dishes. Chicken Licious is located inside a strip mall on Senter Rd. Parking is challenging in the strip mall or on nearby residential streets. The inside of the restaurant is warm with a fan, just like in Malaysia. Ordering is done with the staff or on the tablet at the counter. They take credit cards. There is a sauce bar along with a self serve chicken broth station next to the register. The menu behind the counter reminds me of a hawker stall. Started off with the roti and it was decent. The roti was mysteriously a perfect circle. Having had tons of rotis in SE Asia, most if not all of the rotis come in a odd-shape due to being hand made... The curry dipping sauce was tasty. The char kwai tiu was phenomenal. Plenty of wok hei and lots of premium ingredients such as decent sized shrimp. Loved how the eggs were blended into the stir fry. Ordered a side of poached chicken and it was perfect. Poached to a perfect medium and served inside a bed of soy sauce. The kangkong belachan was decent. Flavoring was decent and much better than most renditions in the US. The curry puffs were also quite tasty and had some meat filing, just like the ones I had in SE Asia. Staff seems to all be from the same family. They were all helpful and cordial. ~$38/head after tax and gratuity for lunch.

Yelp
Finally caved and checked out Chicken Licious after hearing so much about their ckt. And yup, it lives up to the hype. Portion's generous for the price, and they actually have pork lard in it (!!), which is super rare here but so common (and flavorful) back in Malaysia. Wok hei is on point too. Got tempted to try something else and went for the asam laksa after. Wow, easily the most authentic one we've had in the area. The broth is so rich and flavorful, packed with that perfect tangy-spicy kick. And it comes with fried beancurd too?? Omg I loved it. I'd honestly buy a whole pack of those if they sold them on the side. Total comfort food, 10/10. Food took a bit of time to come out, but honestly worth the wait. Plus, the uncles serving us were so friendly and kept checking in to make sure everything tasted good. Will definitely be back! Shared how good this place is on my IG, and Malaysian friends have been asking where the spot is. Good food deserved to be shared.

Yelp
Don't let the name confuse you! This isn't a fried chicken place haha, I had to explain this to my friends. Since I have Singaporean family, I get super excited when I hear of Singaporean food in the bay! Singaporean restaurants are far and between, and often times the quality isn't nearly as good as the real thing in SG. Chicken Licious has a simplified menu of ~10 dishes with pictures (reminiscent of hawker center menus), making ordering nice and easy. Some dishes do come in bento boxes, making this place a convenient place to order takeout. I do like that they had self service seasoning (eg sambal sauce), water, and chicken soup bar. We were able to sit a larger group of ~9 people here at one big table. -- Food -- I had very high expectations and while the food was good and delicious, it wasn't what I was expecting. Perhaps some of these difference can be explained via a Malaysian v Singaporean cooking approach. The laksa tasted like it was missing something, possibly laksa leaves themselves. The Hainanese Chicken also was unexpected -- it came pre-drenched in soy sauce, which was a first for me and disappointing. I love the simplicity of the juicy chicken with the ginger x scallion x shallots paste, but the soy sauce was very overpowering. Char Kway Teow was good! They also had dishes that are Indonesian and they were delicious. I just wish they had more Singaporean dishes that I miss and crave. All in all, I do like this place for the super friendly service we received and the delicious food (my friend liked it! I just expected something different).

Yelp
This is specifically for the prawn mee. The broth to me felt 1-dimensional. It predominantly tasted like that of fried dried shrimp made into a broth. The noodles/shrimp were bland. The chicken was very soft though.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and an expanded menu! Got to come back for some of the noodles too. The place was pretty busy today with many south East Asian patrons. Nice to hear the mix of languages so you know the food is authentic. The place is more colorful now with the Malaysian flag up front. The two brothers were serving today, so it was nice to see the full family affair! Will definitely come back again.

Yelp
It's really 3.5 stars restaurant. I hope they will do well since there aren't many Malaysian restaurants in the South Bay. Food: - Char kway kak 炒粿角 3.5/5 - Ayam Penyet "印尼炸鸡" Smashed Fried Chicken 4/5 - Curry Mee 新加坡叻沙 Singapore Laksa 3/5 it's not Laksa soup but thick curry sauce Service: We ordered in the iPad and pay before you sit down. The lady at the front did not ask if we had any questions while we were debating what the dishes were. The older man was very friendly and helpful. They brought the dishes over at various times. They had a self service sauce, water, and broth area. Ambiance - I don't really like eating with plastic wear if dining in. We have enough micro plastics in our body and in the landfill. Unfortunately, I don't it's worth the 30 minutes drive.

Yelp
Self-serve complimentary soup, water, and disposable utensils (fork, spoon, knife, chopsticks) They provide real plates. Roti - It was fine but I have had better. Hainan Chicken - The chicken was good but the rice was underdone. Char Kway Teow - This was above average. Restroom is very clean and thoughtful, even offer mouthwash and hand lotion
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
I came here for dinner one evening and ordered the Char Kway Teow 炒粿條 and Ayam Penyet "印尼炸鸡" - Smashed fried chicken. The Char Kway Teow was recommended by the staff, it's stir fried noodles with shrimp, chinese sausage, bean sprouts and chives. This was a little too greasy and not much wok hay. The ayam penyet came with a large piece of fried chicken (drumstick and thigh). Chicken didn't have much flavor but the skin was fried to crispy, it was reasonably moist. It had sauce on the side with pickled veggies, salad, coconut rice with chicken fat bits. You needed a sauce for the chicken otherwise no flavor. It's nice that they do have a sauce bar where you can pick your sauces. They also provide some for your order. Food came out quickly after ordering and there is parking but this lot can be quite busy. I'll definitely come back to try their other dishes since I don't see or hear much about Malaysian food such as trying their laksa and nasi lemak.

Yelp
Service was superb, a family owned business which care about the food quality and feedbacks from the customers. Offer a huge variety of local Malaysian cuisines especially those that we usually find at the Malaysia hawkers centers. Indoor dining area is clean and cosy too. Flavors, serving and presentation met the expectation! Penang Assam Laksa served by this restaurant is so far the best in the South bay!

Yelp
We came here on a Wed afternoon craving chicken rice after the lunch rush so the place was totally empty and we were able to put in our order immediately. The restaurant itself is located in an old strip mall. Very clean and the sauce bar was a nice touch. The free soup that comes with every order was warm and a little sweet and herbal. Not my favorite. The Hainan chicken came out about 15 minutes after we ordered - which felt like a long time. Maybe a good sign that everything would be fresh and awesome? Not really... The chicken was super moist but totally flavorless. The soy based sauce it was swimming in was totally bland as well. All of the sauces from the sauce bar seemed really diluted in flavor as well. The rice came out dry. Probably the best thing in the plate was the pickled cabbage- it was bright and crunchy with great seasoning. The problem is you get just a few pieces of this - the rest of the "salad" is just undressed greens. Overall pretty disappointed with this place. Didn't stand out from any of the other chicken and rice places that have popped up.

Yelp
Get the chicken bento with the bones on the chicken - yum Get the baked dunganess crab Or prawns ala carte. It's like Chinese/ Vietnamese and a little Japanese style all enmeshed in one melay Fun place with pretty good food with lots of combinations. I will go back

Yelp
This place gets a 6/5 for service! The Hainan chicken is great! Hoping this place expands to east bay!

Yelp
My family enjoys Singaporean and Malaysian food but it is hard to find good restaurants in San Jose. We ordered Nasi Lemak, Char Kway Teow and Singaporean Laska and they are very authentic and Savory. Would highly recommend these dishes. 很正宗的馬來西亞菜,食物很有鍋氣

Yelp
3.5 stars but rounding up! If you're coming here for anything, make sure it's the Hainan Chicken. The rice itself was okay, but I was obsessed with the chicken itself lol. It was so good! We were looking for a Malaysian spot to try out in SJ and landed on Chicken Licious. They're located on Senter Market in a veeery busy plaza. The parking lot can be rather tight and it could be difficult to find a spot to park if you're coming during a busy hour. We ended up ordering a few things to share: + Hainan Chicken (4/5): I LOOOVED the chicken! The chicken was super moist and flavorful. It reminded me of Singapore! The rice was just okay, as were the side sauces it came with. + Nasi Lemak (2.5/5): I felt like the pieces of meat that we were given were mostly bones. The sambal didn't quite hit for me either, I was hoping that they'd provide more anchovies on the side too. + Roti Canai (3.5/5): Obsessed with the roti but the sauce tasted rather bland :( + Laksa Penang (2.5/5): Also another miss for us - I thought it was good initially, but as we continued eating the lack of broth started to make the noodles all congealed and mushy. I'd pass on this next time! The pros: They serve free soup here and it's pretty good! They keep it pretty clean and service is friendly, too. The downsides: they use a lot of plastic utensils and dishes, which can be convenient if you don't finish your meal. However, it just felt a bit wasteful - it'd be great if they were a bit more sustainable.
google avatar

Yelp
You really can't go wrong with much here: the almost everything I've tried is delicious. The Singaporean Laksa, Popcorn chicken, and the Nasi Lemak are coconut-infused and very, very fragrant and flavorful. I would probably pass on the Char Kway Teow, which didn't have much seasoning or taste to it.

Yelp
Best Char Kueh Teow in the Bay Area. Tried many versions of CKT from Georgetown in Penang to Chinatown in Manhattan. Chickenlicious is at the top of the list. Wok hay, flavor, and liao (ingredients) exceeded expectations. Texture was just right, which can be challenging for this type of flat rice noodle. Shrimp was very fresh and cooked just right. Just missing the cockles. Roti Canai was excellent. Usually go to the morning market in PJ old town to buy from the mamak stall. The curry sauce at chickenlicious was high quality, and is typically what I use to judge my roti in the US. However, the bread itself was way out of the leagues of any of the roti Canai I've had outside of Malaysia. It did not taste frozen. Texture was flakey, crispy, and soft all at the same time. This brought me back to breakfast time at my grandparents house in PJ. Nostalgic. My family also tried the mee goreng, nasi lemak, chicken rice, and Penang laksa (with ipoh influence). My mom said the laksa was even better the next day, and she liked that it came with a generous helping of tofu skin to absorb the soup. Chickenlicious also offers complimentary chicken broth at the counter, for digestion. This is the kind of restaurant you go to when you feel homesick, to feel closer to a place 8,477 miles away.

Yelp
It's been awhile since my hubby and I had Malaysian cuisine. We took a chance on Chicken Licious. Don't let their name fool you. They have so much more than chicken. We ordered Mee Goreng, Singaporean Laksa, and their pice de resistance, Singaporean Crab. The flavors of these three dishes were engaging and pleasing to the palate. They were absolutely authentic and delicious. The service informal, friendly, and informative. They really know their cuisine. The ambience was casual and welcoming. We strongly suggest you try this place if you live in the Bay Area or when you are in San Jose, CA.

Yelp
What a delightful find! Tucked away amongst the shops, I discovered this wonderful 3-year-old in a business Malaysian restaurant. The owner was incredibly welcoming and helpful. I loved the self-serve beef broth station, the variety of chili sauces, and the refreshing beverage options like Thai tea. I opted for the smashed chicken and nasi lemak, which were delicious! The chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful. I couldn't help but notice the Chili Crab being served to other diners - it looked absolutely mouthwatering! I'll definitely be back to try it soon. The restaurant itself was very clean, which I always appreciate. GIVE A TRY!

Yelp
Came back and the place was still great. Definitely more people need to try. The food good and spicy. The restaurant owner was super nice too. We got extra desserts for sitting and talking. Super grateful

Yelp
In 40yo shopping center gentrifying. The new tenants are taking a risk based on the Lee's supermarket next door. In a transition period. Watering hole for homeless who are being phased out. Mix of old and new incoming businesses. Kindy cakes is new, can get desserts for 2-3$ which is unheard of. Replacement for a single donut. Refrigerated parfit instead of a donut. Malaysian cuisine, nothing close except the sit down restaurants in Millbrae and milpitas. The food here is better. Haiyaa niece and nephew. Uncle Roger's cuisine. All of the chicken dishes are good. 20$/person with portion size for 2. the same family owns Lyang Lyang in milpitas. https://www.kqed.org/arts/13974974/malaysian-food-san-jose-hainan-chicken-licious better than the other hainan chicken restaurants in south bay

Yelp
We tried the nasi lemak and the smashed fried chicken from this place and it is a m a z i n g. The food is delightfully fresh and exploding with so many flavors. We need to come through to try the rest of their items--this place is a must visit!

Yelp
This restaurant food serves authentic Malaysian food and their quality is excellent!! My favorite is their Prawn Mee! Their Prawn Mee soup is made using lots of prawn heads & shells and slow cooked for 7 hours to give the rich prawn flavor & taste! I can say, this is the best Prawn Mee in the Bat Area!!!! A highly recommended dish and it is a must try!!!!

Yelp
Got take out from here. They have a variety of delicious traditional options! They were very fast with the food. It was done well before their estimated time. The restaurant was completely empty on a weekday late afternoon, when I arrived. The person who handed me the food had a Malaysian accent, feel very authentic! I appreciated that they were careful with how they packaged the food - especially with the laksa. They made sure the separate the noodles from the soup and the crispy piece. In terms of food, I think that they could use a bit more wok hei for the char kuey tiao, and a bit more spice for the curry puff. I thought that their laksa was delicious though. Very shoik! Definitely the stand out. We got it with a piece of rendang, which was a bit strange to mix rendang flavors with laksa flavors, but the rendang beef was pretty tender.

Yelp
I am a bit nostalgic about naked fried chicken. My mom used to get it for us as kids, but stopped as we got older. I have zero clue where she got it (I assume some random Chinese to-go place). So I was pretty stoked to hear about the fried chicken at Chicken Licious. This was a lot more flavorful since it was marinated with a ton of seasonings. It came with rice, pickles, and sambal. The sambal had fermented flavor that I really enjoyed. It was a complete meal for less than $20.

Yelp
Hainan chicken: 9/10, better than the other "Chicken Meets Rice"-type locations Nasi lemak: 10/10, chicken curry is unique Char kueh teow: 6/10, I'm used to one that's not as smoky Roti sauce: 9.5/10, sauce is really good Longan winter melon tea: 5/10, the jelly was really mushy from having sat in the tea for a while Longan soy milk pudding: 7/10 Free chicken soup: 10/10 Staff was super kind to our two kids and even thought about them when we were asking for recommendations. We appreciated them!

Yelp
Food quality was okay. The chicken herbal soup they offer is nice. Best item would be the char kway teow.

Yelp
Came here after work on a Thursday and it was pretty dead. Usually not a good sign but we were proved wrong. I'll admit I've never had Malaysian food but can you really go wrong with fried chicken? We ordered the: Ayam Penyet smashed fried chicken: this was delicious! The pickled veggies and the roasted peanuts were a great complement to the crispy fried chicken. It also came with a piece of fried tofu. The fresh chili garlic sauce was super spicy and the rice was good. At $18 it is a bit on the pricier side and we would have wanted more chicken. Ayam Bakar: similar to the Ayam Penyet only that this chicken was saltier as it sat in a garlicky sweet soy sauce. I preferred this one because it had coconut rice. It also came with roasted peanuts and pickled veggies. Overall the food was delicious! They have bunch of sauces you can try but I prefer the ginger scallion oil. They also have a hot chicken broth station and orange strawberry infused water. We will definitely be coming back to try other things on the menu!
google avatar

Patty O.

Yelp
I am impressed with how authentic the food tastes. The Hainan chicken was very tender , and the sauces are authentic and not too sweet. The char kway teoh taste pretty similar to what I had in Singapore at the hawker stands. Would recommend

Yelp
First time trying Malaysian food and it did not disappoint. I got the Nasi lemak which is Malaysia most popular dish, which consists of fragrant rice and some braised chicken and pickled vegetables. The flavors of this dish were unique and extremely delicious. Definitely different from other southeast Asian food that I'm used to eating. Also got the Mi Goreng that was perfectly cooked on the wok. It came out extra hot and flavors that is outta this world. Definitely will be back to try the other dishes.
google avatar

Abraham L.

Yelp
my favorite thing is their char kway teow but their hainan chicken, nasi lemak, and mee goreng were also really good. Only warning is some of their stuff can get super spicy for someone with bad spice tolerance. The meals come with free chicken soup, which was hearty and pretty solid. The wait staff was really nice and they took the time to give me recommendations. Restaurant was decently large and could comfortably seat a good number of people. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu as time passes
google avatar

Yelp
The stir fried noodles had a nice char and Laksa was packed with flavor. The fried chicken was incredibly juicy. Loved the spices and flavors in all the dishes! There was complimentary chicken herb broth and a sauce bar. Service was quick and attentive. Overall, great spot to try Malaysian food and glad one opened up in the area!
google avatar

Sam Q.

Yelp
The food was decent (popcorn chicken was overcooked and dry) but my biggest gripe is the price. Noodles cost $18 but you barely get a small bowl's worth. Decent flavors but really not worth it for the money

Yelp
A new Malaysian spot in San Jose? Count me in. It's in a Vietnamese strip mall, so kind of a hidden gem. The inside is clean and empty, kind of like a cafeteria. You order from an iPad. If you're eating in, the employees give you plates and a cup for chicken broth. You grab drinks from a fridge after you order. There's a little self serve condiment/sauce bar. We ordered the roti canai, char kway teow, crispy popcorn chicken, and hakka pan mee (dry). My partner's hakka pan mee came out as soup, which was a bummer. The soup was just okay, not super flavorable, not memorable. He was a little sad about it. Roti canai was awesome. We could have eaten just that alone. Char kway teow is always a classic. No complaints there. And popcorn chicken is hard to do wrong. Everything was VERY HOT. Like temperature hot. It took us a while to eat because it was just so dang hot. It is a little expensive though. I remember when roti used to be $5! It's $12 here. Additionally, everything is served on disposable plates, which feels kinda cheap, but also on brand with the cafeteria vibe. I'd still come back though!

Yelp
Most authentic Malaysian and Singaporean food in the Bay Area. Every sauce and dish is made from scratch to perfection. Owners are very passionate about making authentic food and kind service.

Yelp
I rarely gave five star. Laksa was unexpectedly authentic. It brought back my memories of scouting for the best street food in Singapore. I sweated a lot eating the noodle with all spices rushing through my blood stream. It was a great sweat!

Yelp
This place has been on my list for some time and I was glad to have the opportunity to try it. Unfortunately, there are not many Malaysian shops in the South Bay so this is a refreshing addition to San Jose. I stopped by for an early dinner and ordering was quick and easy. The cashier/person behind the counter was very friendly as well. I ordered: Hainan chicken, ayam penyet smashed fried chicken, and wat tan hor. Overall, I enjoyed the food. My favorite by far was the Hainanese chicken. It was moist and soft and the plate was huge. It came with chicken soup, which was also delicious. The fried chicken was a little drier than I liked, however, I loved the crispiness. My brother had the wat tan hor and he thought the sauce wasn't thick enough, but the noodles were great. I hope to be back soon and try the other items!

Yelp
Had the opportunity to try this out on a weekday in the afternoon. My hubby ordered the Hainan chicken for to go. Food smelled great and plated organized. The chicken was juicy and we enjoyed how it was marinated. The food was yummy. The price for the portion was a little steep in my opinion, but it is though times these days. Walking into the store, we were greeted by the cashier. The place was spacious, clean and well decorated for Lunar New Year all around. The flower wall for the Insta was beautiful. We ordered and paid from the kiosk. The interface was simple to use. While waiting, we helped ourselves with some watermelon flavored water. They had a condiment/sauce bar where you can help yourself. We liked their spicy ginger one.

Yelp
We ordered take-out from Chicken Licious. They have a sauce bar! We ordered popcorn chicken, Hainan chicken bento, and curry mee. The popcorn chicken was average, but the Hainan chicken bento was delicious. The chicken was so tender and soft. The curry mee broth was flavorful. I wasn't a fan of the noodles; they felt too soft for me, but that might be because we got it for take-out. The broth is very spicy, however, my family greatly enjoyed it. Overall their meals are delicious and I am a big fan of their chicken!

Yelp
The Food Malaysian restaurants are far and few, and those that serve Asam Laksa are even more uncommon. Partner and I got introduced to Chicken Licious, and mentioned they had Asam Laksa, so we decided to give it a try. My partner of course got Asam Laksa (亞參叻沙), so I wanted something different to share. I got their Ayam Penyet Smashed Fried Chicken (印尼炸鸡). We also got Curry Puff (咖喱角) and Hakka Sticky Rice Dumpling (客家粽, 咸肉棕). It is also nice that they have herbal soup for you to sip on while you wait for food. The Asam Laksa came with a flavorful broth, with various toppings, and noodles. The Ayam Penyet Smashed Fried Chicken has a spicy (sambal?) sauce to go along with the chicken. They also had nice flavored rice, fried tofu, and pickled vegetables with the dish as well. I quite enjoy the dishes, they are all well made and have a unique flavor. The Miscellaneous The restaurant is in a plaza known as Caribbees Center. The plaza is quite big with a good amount of parking, but the parking is quite weird and narrow. The interior has a bright aesthetic. Upon entry, there is a waiting area with a flower wall decor. The main dining room is spacious with decent seating. The staff and service was good. We had a short chat with the owners on how hard it was to source all the ingredients for Asam Laksa. Their menu has a good selection of dishes, focusing on Bento and Noodle. But they also have Snack, Side, Dessert, etc. If you are looking for some authentic Malaysian food, I would recommend giving this place a try. I would also want to go back to try their other dishes.

Yelp
We found this little gem by accident!! Located in the middle of a vietnamese plaza, we saw the Chickenlicious sign and decided to venture in and saw that they offered a full line up of Malaysian food! We tried the roti canai, fried chicken platter, Asam laksa, and the lychee pudding. Every dish was delicious, including the complimentary herbal chicken soup! We will be back to try their other dishes : chow kuay teow, hakka rice tamales, and Nasi Lemak.

Yelp
by far the best hainan chicken i've had in the bay. wonderfully silky, this is the texture i aspire to when i make it at home. char kway teow has a good amount of wok hei but could do with slightly more soy/oyster imo. ordered on an ipad, was immediately given a mini bowl to get free chicken broth with my meal.

Yelp
Was looking forward to the Hainan Chicken rice. Very disappointed that the chicken. Was boneless cut up pieces size of a finger swimming in dark sauce not like their photo at all . Good rice salad and ginger sauce. But the chicken pieces looked like use for stir fry .

Yelp
Our first time visit. This place is in a mainly Vietnamese strip mall. Nice and clean and the staff is friendly. My wife is Malaysian says their food is very authentic and excellent! The portions are huge. Definitely a go to destination if you enjoy great Malaysia food.

Yelp
The standard procedure for each dish is $18. The portions are generous, the temperature is just right and hot, the favor is bursting. Literally as authentic as it gets. The taste is so good it brings the country to you. Cannot wait to return for more items. Great food, good service, clean interior.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! I was looking to get some Hainan chicken and this place seems new so I decided to give it a try. The chicken was so tender and sauced. And the best part is the value! It comes in a large plate with a side salad and soup and you can even add on more sauces as you want from the sauce bar. And the wintermelon drink was really good as well. I will probably come back to try their Malaysian dishes.

Yelp
Food was just ok. Was expecting stronger flavors, spicier sauces. And the Hainan chicken was a bit underdone.

Yelp
This was the best chicken and rice dish i've had in san jose! It comes with three sauces, tender chicken, and pickled veggies. It was flavorful and filling. Service was great, food made fresh. Highly recommend this spot!
