I gave 5 starts for their beef empanadas at this location. They are the best. Ask for all of them at once, since they make you wait for about 10+ minutes. If you like ground beef you will not regret it. It is a unique flavor that include green olives and raisins. I love them! It is a small place but good enough for a quick bite that you will enjoy! Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of my empanadas, I realized after I have eaten them.

If you love burritos then look no further. I have 0 complaints about this restaurant at all. The burritos are both flavorful, and thick, with a delicious tortilla to hold it all together. If you love sauce then try each option and pick your favorite for next time lol. And don’t forget to get a drink as well they have some tasty sweet options for you! This is easily one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve had takeout from in Chicago in years. I was starting to feel disappointed by the lack of good delivery options. My usual go-to spots have gone down in quality while prices keep going up. This place was a pleasant surprise. Everything I’ve ordered has been absolutely delicious, and I’ve already ordered twice in two weeks, which is rare for me. Definitely worth trying if you’re looking for truly good, authentic Mexican food.

food was delicious, but was not the way we ordered it. Ordered flour tortilla with the steak taco, steak and cheese only. There was onion and cilantro, and no cheese plus it was on a corn tortilla. The shrimp taco had the cheese on it that should have been on the steak taco. The good thing is when anyone screw up my wife’s order I get everything. Just need to check the order before we leave

Nice spot for Mexican food in Little Italy. Enjoyed the chicken taco and guacamole, although while the taco portion was generous, the guac not so much. I ordered a small guac but still feel the portion could be increased. Chips that came with the guac were ok, lacking flavor. But the chicken was well-seasoned and I liked the veggies that came in the taco. Service was quick and prices fair. Overall, worth a stop if in Little Italy.

Best fish tacos and burritos! It's a small dine in but it's nice for a quick bite or to get it to go! It can be a bit of a wait sometimes because they are super busy with their to-go orders most of the time. The food is consistently good and fresh! Empanadas fresh, right out of the fryer. Their street corn is also yum (in the cup and on the cob)! They've got fresh juices and horchata as well.

I ordered a fish taco, a chicken taco, and two al pastor tacos for $17. These were fresh, delicious, came with two creamy sauces, free water, and were brought out quickly. Soft corn tortillas, doubled up for structural integrity. Can't wait to go back.

A big shoutout to Chilango for keeping prices low and portion sizes big in this economy. If I could eat here everyday, I would without blinking an eyelid. Their veggie burrito and their veggie empanada are my absolute favorite. Also, a special shoutout to all the different sauces they have. They elevate any dish to the next level. I am amazed why more reviews don't talk about the sauces, they surely need a separate fan page of their own, especially the green and the pink sauces. I love the fact the they have a plethora of veggie options. The burrito is hugeeeee, easily lasts me two meals. The empanadas are always crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I occasionally indulge myself with the nutella empanadas as well. Ambience wise, this place is very causal and low maintenance and caters perfectly to the UIC crowd and me :p Service has always been fast. I order online often from here too. Easily my top 3 Mexican restaurants in Chicago.

Service was good; from the guy working the register to the lady that brought out our food. The veggie tacos are vegan and super delicious! The vegetarian empanada and the green sauce that accompanied it were yummy. We were to go fond of the guacamole; it was lacking salt and lime. I would definitely visit again.

Was a decent place for fast food Mexican. You have to order and take your food to seat. Steak was good and veggies were fresh. It's nice and decently clean. Cashier was nice.

Got the steak burrito and YUM The staff was so nice and the sauces were fire. Enough indoor seating for our party of 7! No better half-marathon meal for SURE. Did not finish burrito, so getting second meal out of it tmrww!!

Huge portions!! It's classic burritos and bowls type place. You don't make your own bowl or burrito but you can make any adjustments. We got vegetarian burrito and nachos. Both of the items were really good. Great place to go for a quick and easy meal. The sauces they have are also pretty delicious. The service was decent. Good can out pretty fast. The restaurant is small with a few tables. I will definitely be going again!

Think chipotle but bigger portions. Just a few blocks from our airbnb we ran into Chilango and knew we needed a quick dinner meal before our next activity. I decided on a chicken bowl and love the facts so much of this meal is healthy. From the rice all the way to the fresh toppings. This bowl was so giant I barely was able to finish 1/3 of it. The food was very tasty and made to order which I loved. I also opted for esquite which was tasty and was pretty basic to most elote I've had. The star of the show was definitely the dessert empanadas. We tried both the caramel apple and Nutella banana. They were so crisp and full of flavor. Such a great treat to end our meal.

The empanadas continue to shine. The spinach mozz one is so crispy and flavorful. Add the sauces to it and it elevates the dish by even more. The pink sauce is my favorite. It's definitely a favorite at work. The nachos, tacos and burrito bowls are a hit at work. Definitely worth checking out!

The Mexican food always hits! They have large portions- perfect for sharing. Many of the items are customizable so it's great for people with specific dietary needs. I love the nachos and loaded burrito- they know how to sauce things up

I've been here so many times but somehow never take pictures of my meal. The food is always yummy and the sauces really elevate it. Bonus points for having plentiful veggie options. My personal favorites are the veggie empanada and the (very large) veggie burrito. The food is good both to go and in person, although interior seating is limited.

Chilango will always have a special place in my heart. Their burritos are so good, especially their rice and salsa. This time around, the meat in my burrito wasn't very warm and was pretty dry. There was also a pretty large chewy piece in it as well which was a little disappointing. I've been here multiple times in the past and the food has always been very good so I was definitely surprised this time around. Maybe it was because of the time and day we came, not sure but I'll come again! Also the empanadas are always crispy and delicious, paired with the sauce they come with.. chefs kiss. Also the staff is also very friendly which I appreciate.

Tried veggie tacos and veggie bowl. The taco was a miss, it was good but not that flavourful, whereas the bowl was good portion and had many flavours. They also give sauces on side which is nice as you can customise your taste with adding different sauces. The staff is good and it is more of a quick bite place. Ambiance is decent with affordable and good portion sizes.

Located in the heart of UICs undergraduate extended campus, Chilango has some pretty solid taxos. I think what makes this place is their wide variety of sauces, each one having its own unique taste, spice, and compliment to their dishes. I have tried everything from the chicken, beef to the shrimp. They do not skimp out on quantity. The taste is there as well. It's nothing that will blow your mind, especially considering Pilsen is right around the corner with some authentic Mexican food, however it's definitely worth a try and I would visit again.

a cute, family owned Mexican place on Taylor Street!! Service has always been great whenever I come here and tastes like Chipotle but healthier and more natural (also a little cheaper) :) They have a variety of sauces you can add to your food (the green is the spiciest in my experience) and automatically come with any takeout order! Food always comes out pretty fast (never more than 10 minutes).

Great place!! Highly recommend their empanadas and horchata! My partner and I stopped here after a week long trip in NYC. After a week of pizza, pasta and bagels. We desperately wanted some tacos!! So glad he suggested this place!! We shared 3 tacos: Steak, al pastor and shrimp. As well as 3 empanadas: beef& rice, champinon and nutella-banana. Everything was delicious!!

I spent 500 dollars on catering for Chilango and they didn't give a single napkin, utensil or serving item.They also showed up 45 minutes late to a scheduled event. Never again.

The service was good! The price for burritos and burrito bowls is great, but the fish tacos were awful. The other tacos are quite expensive per taco as well. The empanadas were very good, wish there were more toppibgs.

Decided to try the Chilango nachos. They were absolutely fantastic. Big portion of nachos, and they weren't greedy with the toppings. I kept shoveling bites into my mouth, taking zero breaths in between, it was that good. My only wish is that they would allow special instructions on their delivery apps. I was feeling lazy today and was going to place an order, but I didn't want to order something that I couldn't modify.

Came to dine in on a Sunday evening. The place was bustling with takeout orders, but the service was swift. We got a chicken bowl and a pastor bowl. Both meats were very flavorful and tender. The bowls were delicious and well assembled. When you dine in they also give you bottles of 3 sauces. They are all very tasty! The green one is the spiciest. The lightest color one is the mildest and is a bit creamy. Overall we absolutely enjoyed it. For $10, the bowl is about the same size as a chipotle bowl but so much fresher!

Chilango's used to be amazing. But they got cheap with their ingredients. Oh well. The nachos used to be amazing, but everything tasted canned and far too salty.

I ordered nachos with chicken and a fish taco for delivery at work, not knowing how far away the place is. DoorDash's mapping indicated some pretty erratic driving and the food took maybe 80 minutes to reach me. I was surprised to find the nachos held up much getter than I would have expected even though the chicken, guac, etc., were very generous. Only a few chips were limp, and many still had crisp to them. The flavor was also very good, but the real knockout was the fish taco. Oh my! I'd probably want to eat there in person before bumping this to five stars, but even with odds against it, this was a very fine meal. Nice job, folks!

This is a relatively small place that's on Taylor Street which sits in between the two campuses of UIC. It's a really popular spot for students to eat at because it has relatively affordable food and is also unique to the other places that are close by! They're known for their empanadas. I've also tried the bowl and the tacos and I enjoyed all of them.

I was craving some shrimp tacos and came across this place because of all the good reviews. I ordered one shrimp taco, one fish and one steak. The shrimp taco was OK. The fish taco was plain. Then last but not least, the steak taco was super dry that I ended up just throwing it away. Was kind of disappointed because for $5 a Taco I was expecting much more then what I got. Tacos are suppose to make you happy and instead it left me sad and irritated.

Came into the place and were greeted immediately by staff. We ordered 4 meals. Fish tacos, shrimp tacos, beef taco, beef torta and a burrito bowl with beef. The fish taco are fried and have some veggies in top with a good sauce on it as well. This is not your typical Ensenada tacos for those who come from California. There is no cabbage and white sauce so do not mistake that. However, it is still very delicious and a different take on the fish taco that those of us from California are use to. Loved it. The shrimp taco is not fried so another assumption by is Cali people however it did have a great flavor. Had some veggies on top as well. A great portion and again very flavorful. The beef burrito bowl came loaded with lettuce, cheese, sauce and plenty of rice. This rice is green but don't let it scare you it's really good lol. The beef torta was amazing as well. I would next time ask them to hold the onions as it over powered the flavor overall. The beef is very rich in flavor. The beef taco same thing very rich in flavor with some veggies. We did ask for guacamole and chips on the side and the guacamole tasted very fresh and the tortilla chips were great too. Not stale at all. Would definitely come back and recommend to others.

I have eaten at Chilangos countless times over the years that I have lived in Chicago which is a testament to the quality and consistency of the food here. My go-to items are the chori cheese empanada and the steak burrito with lots of the light green jalapeño sauce on top! Chilangos empanadas are so good because the pastry crust is super buttery and delicious, they are the best empanadas I have ever had! A large part of what makes the steak burrito stand out so much is the light green jalapeno sauce that you can drizzle on top. It is super spicy even though it looks pretty harmless. The sauces are homemade at this restaurant and really take the burritos up to that next level!

Chilango has some of the best authentic mexican food in the area! There have a variety of options on the menu and are very vegetarian friendly. I ordered veggie tacos, a spinach empanada, and a banana nutella empanada for take out. I wasn't sure if the empanadas would be good option for take out but they stayed super crispy and hot 30 minutes after I picked them up. They have a sister store called Lito's empanadas, which exclusively sells the empanadas (this location has all the same options on the menu). I prefer coming to Chilango instead so I can order a variety of food but you are just interested in the empanadas, definitely check out Lito's! Veggie tacos - unique mixture of veggies, refreshing, and super flavorful w the addition of their house-made salsas Spinach empanada - crispy and super cheesy! probably the best vegetarian empanada I have ever tried Banana nutella empanada - you don't want to miss this if you love nutella! the chocolate was melty and had little bits of banana and tasted delicious with the crispy exterior Cheese Quesadilla - advertised as a foot long quesadilla (I was with kids and I think they really would have enjoyed seeing the entire thing in one piece instead of stacked pieces); we added beans for some protein and it was so cheesy! simple but delicious. Veggie burrito - an assortment of unique veggies, different from most vegetarian burritos, and great with the sauces I live a bit far from here but the longer drive was totally worth it! Excited to be back here and try the veggie burrito next time.

I can only speak to the quality and taste of the food since I've never been here but have placed many group orders here via UberEats. I absolutely love this place and so does everyone from my groups. The food is always delicious, the portions are very generous, and the prices are so reasonable. Some recent reviewers questioned whether this is an authentic Mexican place and I am unsure as to why. As a Mexican, I think some of the dishes are just as good as how my mom makes them. So, don't listen to those folks and try this place!

Nice place for lunch, if you have some extra time to wait. I've come a few times, and the food is consistently delicious, but the wait tends to be on the longer side for what it is. I'd recommend calling to order ahead of time. The first time I came, I ordered takeout for a couple tacos and rice, and I think it took about 25-30 minutes. It was very busy though (ordered at 12pm on a weekday) and it seemed like the had a ton of takeout orders. I recently ordered a shrimp taco and a beef and rice empanada. This time I think it took about 15 minutes so not bad! It was 1pm on a weekday so maybe it was after the rush. We sat at a bar table looking out the front windows, and a staff member brought our food to us. They came in paper trays, and the staff person also brought 3 large sauce bottles to us and arranged them from sweet to spicy. The sauces were BOMB. The food was already tasty on its own, but when you add the sauce...*drools*... Highly recommend trying all the sauces. In terms of the space, there's not a lot of tables, so just keep that in mind if you want to eat there. Overall, reasonably priced and yummy. Good for casual dining. Definitely will eat here again!

Not only are the empanadas delicious their torta and soup special is amazing! Fast delivery too!

Delivery empanadas. Perfectly fried crust. Tasty, well proportioned fillings. Nutella Banana Empanada - 4.5/5. Copious Nutella, got 3 of these and enjoyed them. Spinach Empanada - 4/5. Quite enjoyed the cheese spinach combo. Chicken Empanada - 3.5/5. My wife liked this one but I did not. Caramel Apple - 3.5/5. Covered in cinnamon sugar, decent but my wife liked more. Cheese Quesadilla - 3/5. Good amount of cheese. Rice on the side has decent flavor. Fine but not as good as empanadas. Guac and chips - 2.5/5. Solid chips but the guac is overly creamy. Wouldn't get it again.

Fresh and delicious. I got a chicken burrito and it was stuffed with fresh lettuce. The rice is a green rice and I enjoyed the chicken being chopped up so finely. Great quality shredded cheese inside that next time I would order heavy on the cheese! I bet the quesadillas are fantastic.

So good. Late night working so I picked up this and was one of those experiences that made me say "if you don't eat food like this sometimes then you aren't living."

The food tastes great but I have to give it 2 stars as the last two times we have ordered the Al Pastor Empanadas there has been large portions of bones inside. The last thing anyone wants to feel when biting into an empanada is bones. The sauces and desert empanadas are delicious though. Sadly will probably not be returning as the Al Pastor is my favorite empanada but I can no longer bite into it.

REALLY good food! Ordered door dash ..it was here quick, packaged well and they sent several sauces with. The homemade sauces are killer...but when they say hot they aren't joking. I ordered the steak burrito with no lettuce...best burrito I've ever had. The rice blend was explosive with flavor, wrapped full of meat and overall flavor was unlike any one I've had before! Also ordered a fish taco (best I've had) and chicken taco (would pass-dry and had no flavor). The corn tortillas are delicious...so much flavor!! This place is great...we will be ordering again soon!

I ordered bowl with Al pastor and corn in a cup. My bf got a burrito and queso. We got chips and guacamole, but to our surprise, we got two large bags of chips! The bowl was good but a bit soggy. It looks like a Chipotle bowl. I wish I noticed it had pinto beans and sour cream because I would've removed them. Fortunately, not allergic! The corn in a cup had too much liquid.

Hit the spot on a cold afternoon The interior is colorful and cozy. Service was great!! The lady at the register was so nice! One of us got a burrito, the other got 4 tacos, and I got 2 empanadas and an elote cup. All the food came out at the same time and perfectly hot. I loved my empanadas (shout out to Lito's!!!)--how perfectly crispy, crackly, and blistered the pastry was, I mean just look at the picture. I just started school nearby so I know I'll be back for sure!

SERVICE: 8/10 Service was expeditious and I received the correct order in a timely manner. FOOD: 9/10 Beef Empanada - 8/10 - Standard empanada with some ground beef within a crispy fried shell. I thought this was done well, the beef was moist and seasoned well. Chicken Empanada - 9/10 - I was very impressed with this. I believed it was white meat chicken which was cooked and kept moist, not dried out at all. The chicken had some spice to it in the nice empanada shell and was the best savory empanada I had here. Chorizo Empanada - 8/10 - The sausage one was not bad, but to me, this was definitely the weakest of the bunch. It was not bad, but specifically for it, I did not really find it that impressive. Nutella Empanada - 9/10 - What a nice "dessert" to top off the empanadas that I had tried. It's hard to complain about fried dough filled with hazelnut chocolate spread. VALUE: 8/10 Their prices are fair. PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 9/10 I would definitely come back here. I am thinking of the nutella one now.... TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT: Eat some empanadas! OVERALL: 9/10

This place was close to our hotel, so we decided to check it out! I'm happy we did because everything we got was delicious. I got the fish tacos since so many reviews raved about them. I also tried the elote, which was creamy and sweet. Included with your order are a variety of different sauces and an order of corn. The elote and free corn were almost identical, so I'm not sure what the difference is. They were all spicy and added so much flavor to the tacos. I would definitely come here again. The only reason why I did not give it 5 stars is because everyone was $1 more expensive than the prices from Yelp, so just keep that in mind.

Tacos are cheap and okay. I recommend going here for the empanadas over the tacos though. Good horchata too.
