The Best Restaurants In The Mueller Neighborhood In Austin

"Chi’Lantro is probably best known for their kimchi fries that catapulted them to popularity when they first opened their food truck back in 2010, but now there are multiple locations across the city—including one in Mueller—so you’re never too far from their Korean-Mexican fusion food. We’re big fans of their Korean fried chicken wings that are double-fried for a little extra crispiness." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion

Chi'lantro Mueller - Review - Mueller - Austin - The Infatuation

"Chi’Lantro is probably best-known for their kimchi fries that catapulted them to popularity when they first opened their food truck back in 2010, but now there are multiple locations across the city—including one in Mueller—so you’re never too far from their Korean-Mexican fusion food. We’re big fans of their Korean fried chicken wings that are double-fried for a little extra crispiness, then doused in a sweet-and-spicy “Gangnam sauce” and topped with sesame seeds. But you should probably throw in an order of the kimchi fries while you’re there, because fries are rarely the wrong move." - Nicolai McCrary

Google
Chi’Lantro? I hardly know her! LOL, but let’s get real. Even though it’s 2025 I’m still #StopAsianHate, so I decided to go to an Asian Chipotle instead of the Chipotle down the street (The line was just too long). The service was quick (because it’s empty - everyone is at Chipotle) the food is good, but the portions are small. But I’ll come clean, I have the palette of a spoiled upper middle class 12 year old - I’m not one to judge the food. This is my first time in 5 years eating rice because I was too nervous to be seen as “that white boy who comes in here and just orders chicken with no rice”. The rice is good (I think) and the spicy chicken is spicy 🥵

Google
-Food, fantastic! Full of flavor, very fresh, enough to fill me up. Everything looked appetizing and topped off. Great job on the presentation. I recommend the spicy pork! Great flavor. -Service, friendly! Cordial welcome, server explained different sauces, items, and recommend what complimented what I wanted. -Atmosphere, yikes! As soon as I went into the restaurant I could smell that someone blew up the restroom. They should really consider a better ventilation system for the restroom. Specially being so close to the eating area.

I went to Chi’Lantro a couple of years ago, and I got to say I didn’t like it very much. I decided to go in and try it out today, give it a second chance, and it did not disappoint. I was helped out by Sofia, she gave great customer service. She help me decide what I should get by describing the options really well, and giving me her favorite recommendations. The staff is welcoming and very friendly. The space is very neat, clean, and suitable for a quick stop lunch. I’ve been to the restaurants next-door, but I got to say this spot just became one of my favorites! The menu is very well put together. They only except card, no cash. They even include an allergen list by the very entrance, so that you know what you can, or cannot eat if you have any allergies. Super helpful.

Cleanliness is evident throughout the restaurant, ensuring a worry-free dining experience. The staff is friendly, providing attentive service that enhances the visit. Whether for a special occasion or a casual meal, Chilantro exceeds expectations. It's no surprise that patrons highly recommend Chilantro for its delicious food, inviting atmosphere, and excellent service.

Google
Great food & great service! Lots of options for both protiens and veggies. Not to mention, the magic sauce is delicious. My go-to is a K-Pop chicken bowl with noodles+rice, veggies, & avocado. But it's hard to go wrong at Chi'lantro regardless of what you pick. Plus the staff is always friendly and accommodating, Thanks so much! 🍲🙏

Google
It was my first time going, and loved it! Very friendly and delicious rice bowls. I got the K’pop Chicken bowl and it was tasty with their spicy ranch. I ate through that bowl so quickly 😋

Google
I came today to get lunch. The food is still really good here. Depends on what you get but at this location specifically they are very stingy And most of the employees don't understand English very well, so they definitely need a little bit of training when it comes to management. But overall the experience wasn't too bad besides me having to pay extra for the rice. They didn't even give me the regular size serving I'm a growing woman

Yelp
I really enjoyed my food! This was my first time trying Chi'Lantro and I savored every bite. I had the b'bimbap. My food came out hot and tasted very flavorful and fresh. Fortunately, the wait wasn't very long despite an egg being cooked to order with my plate. I heard the kimchi fries are really good so I will have to give that a try during my next visit!
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Love spicy pork rice bowl! Their kimchi fries portions have gotten a little smaller so not as worth it but will always love their bowls!

Yelp
I've been pleasantly surprised by Chi'Lantro! I have lived in Austin for 4 years now and had never gotten Chi'Lantro before until recently. I don't know what I expected, but it's actually pretty good. Portion sizes are decent, and lots of different options. They have pre-set bowls you can order, or you can build your own burrito or bowl, which is what I always do. You can order online ahead of time, but I always go in person and it's always a quick and easy experience. The staff are always friendly, too!

Yelp
Highly recommend this place. We didn't get there til 930 since we went after a basketball game so count get japchae noodles so I got the B'bimbap. So delicious!!! The marinated meat was so delicious in the mix of brown rice corn fried egg cabbage and black beans. They have delicious sauces to add as well. Since I left I have been wanting to go there again . It's really that delicious! The service was great. It's a fast food vibe but great food. I will be back!!! Went back yesterday to get the japchae. Omg I love this place. I feel like I am eating healthy with all the veggies I have them put on. I have had the marinated beef both times. So delicious and always have some for the next day.

Yelp
I've always been a fan of the kimchi fries at chilantro and recently I decided to try out their bowls. I got a tofu bowl and I thought it was a really good alternative to the fries. While the fries are great, sometimes I want a more proper/less greasy meal and this was perfect! I went pretty heavy on the topping and I was pretty impressed, especially with the sauces which were definitely needed to give the bowl some more flavor. I definitely like the kimchi fries more but I'll order this from time to time when I feel like something a little less greasy. Tips: - For the base you can do half and half so you get both noodles and rice - Both the magic sauce and spicy ranch are really good, I would recommend getting both (either on top or on the side) -The tortilla chips add a really nice crunch to the bowl

Yelp
If you like Korean food with a chipotle style ordering, this spot is for you! You decide what base you want, what protein, and then why toppings and sauces. It was so delicious and all the workers were so kind and efficient with our food. We sat outside at one of their many tables and really enjoyed our dinner that night!

Jeffrey M.

Yelp
Love this place. Ever since it has opened up near my office it has become my go to lunch spot. The Bi Bim Bap with the fried egg is the best! The staff is super efficient and friendly. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Chi'Lantro is a great Korean-Mexican fusion restaurant with multiple locations in Austin (and the owner made a deal on Shark Tank). Think Chipotle with the process of choosing the items, protein, etc. but with better flavors. The magic sauce, a spicy mayo, goes really well with the spicy pork. They are known for their kimchi fries which you need to try if you haven't had them. Such a great lunch, thanks Chi'Lantro!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was a nice pleasant surprise! The wings were delicious - nice and crispy, but also saucy & juicy. The spicy ranch on the size balanced nicely with the spicy Korean wing sauce. Highly recommend if you want yummy food, fast!

Yelp
Their pricing is confusing, especially because I forgot my glasses. I asked three separate front desk workers, "Which one is cheaper? Bibimbap or Create My Own Bowl"? None of the three cashiers understood me and asked if I spoke Spanish. Unfortunately, I took French during high school. I left and went to Chipotle.

Yelp
I really like this place...very similar to a place in Torrance California called On and On... most people get a bowl and customize it a bit... fresh veggies, well seasoned chicken... and great customer service. If you are with a group there are other restaurant choices so this little center is ideal for an office lunch outing...everyone will find something they like.

Yelp
I love Chi'Lantro's food. But the Mueller location is a weak location. A lot of it has to do with the space. It is a long narrow box that is confining no matter where you sit in the store. There is a back view on to the side wall of a building on Lancaster Drive that is mildly ugly. There is a front view on to the Best Buy parking lot that is positively ugly. In the summer, in the afternoon and evening, the sun comes blazing through the plate glass windows at 666 degrees. You go blind from the light and the air conditioning has to work overtime to deal with the heat. Management may want to think about sun shades for the windows. Any trip to any Starbucks with a plate glass window and management will know what kind of shades to buy. Furniture is seriously uncomfortable. Tall stools with no place to put your feet with hard seats and a hard table. They want you to eat and go. No lingering please. I don't like being made uncomfortable while I eat. * * * The previous items are all "permanent" problems. There was one short term problem that was a fluke. I showed up in the middle of a mini-onrush of customers. Had I come fifteen or twenty minutes later, I would have gotten instant service. I suspect the same would have held if I had come fifteen or twenty minutes earlier. But during the rush, they ran out of fries and had to come up with some quickly. I am pretty sure they cut the cooking time short on mine. My fries were white, pale, and utterly unappealing. This is not good on a plate of Korean Chicken fries. Chi'lantro is known for its fries ... So I suspect my not-wonderful meal was an aberration. * * * To be repetitively redundant and to say what was in the intro all over again, Chi'lantro's is usually good food. Most of the other locations are comfortable as well. I would write off the Mueller location as a bad job And get my kimchi fries elsewhere in Austin.

Yelp
Be careful what you eat here I found a piece of carton box in my food and I almost ate it ..yuck! Such a sad moment, I immediately lost my appetite
google avatar

Yelp
I really love the idea of chi Lantro but there's some work to be done. Our bowls were good. The meat was very flavorful. The biggest let down was the kimchi fries. For something they claim to be known for these were really not great. The fries were stale and dry as if they had been made the day before. The kimchi was non existent and the fries were really just drowned in sauce. Overall not awful but I am not going out of my way to eat here
google avatar

Brigid P.

Yelp
Love this concept! I ordered on doordash and will definitely do so again! It's a chipotle like concept that is Korean fusion and so tasty! Also, dang what a big, beautiful serving of avocado on this bad boy! I felt full, full of veggies and healthy afterwards. Please come to San Antonio!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the food. The sweet potato noodles as a base are awesome and the Korean steak is delicious.

Cheli B.

Yelp
I have ordered from here. The food is excellent and healthy, and the sauce is delicious.

John T.

Yelp
Love this place been here twice and they don't disappoint me when it comes to the food and the workers are so nice and friendly the vegan noodle bowl was so great keep up the great work
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
This was my first time at this location. It was packed and seemed very chaotic. There was a lack of organization between the staff members behind the register which could be the reason for the delay. I ordered a bowl. The sweet potato noodles were perfectly cooked and were delicious. The spicy chicken was tender and full of flavor! However, the kimchi was mediocre. It was not sour, spicy, or umami even in the slightest. The basil peach lemonade was a treat though! It was refreshing, tart, and sweet.

Yelp
This place is soo good! I tried it on whim and went back for another a day later, I couldn't wait. The online ordering and customization is straightforward. Pick up process is easy and convenient. I'm not one to download apps but I downloaded theirs for rewards because I'll definitely be eating here often so I may as well reap the benefits.
google avatar

Weldon B.

Yelp
Got a bowl with steak and special chicken, WOW! Also got every topping and it's worth the price. Cheese fries are certified goodness. Will be returning
google avatar

Sean N.

Yelp
It's like chipotle with Korean fusion. It's like a dream for me! The soy chicken is great. I ordered a ssams with chicken and another with steak. The kim chi fries were good. If your in the mood for a tex mex with a Korean twist this is it
google avatar

Kia L.

Yelp
The Korean wings are always amazing!! Service was friendly and the wait was long due to them being short staffed! They made sure my order was fresh and even threw in a free drink, excellent customer service.
google avatar

Molly M.

Yelp
These are unflattering pics because it's quarantine time and that's the way of the world right now. They're only doing curbside pickup and this is how your food will come out. You can only go inside if you have a mask on. My friend has been raving about this place for weeks now, so we finally went after a day of hiking. The kimchi fries were soggy, but the wings were so good and I don't even like wings. Got the soy glazed chicken taco and unless you're obsessed with onion, get it without cause they put A LOT on the taco and I had stomach pains afterwards. The soy glazed chicken has a great flavor and I'd definitely recommend that on the fries and taco. Really glad I tried this place!
google avatar

Catalina L.

Yelp
Ordered takeout and was a great experience ordering online for the website. You customize exactly what you want to eat and set a time for pick up. Upon pickup, all staff were wearing masks for safety and there was a sign posted that customers are required to wear face coverings too. Everything was packaged in paper bag to go. Food was delicious! Great size portion for the price, I ended up eating it in two sittings. I got the Spicy Pork Rice Bowl with signature vegetable toppings (black beans, carrots, purple cabbage, kimchi, cilantro) plus add ons cucumber, hot kimchi, and cheese. Sauces were salsa roja and kimchi sauce

Yelp
Our quest for a tasty, original dinner led us to finally try Chi'lantro. After hearing all the hype about this unique fusion restaurant, we were excited to give our spicy chicken salad bowls a try. However, our experience is best summed up with three words: overpriced and underwhelming. Prepare to pay anywhere between $13-18 a bowl depending on the add-ins you select, but the menu does not show any prices and the workers do not warn you about the upcharges until you're already at the cash register with a prepared bowl in hand. Also, this location does not have a working ice maker, and they will sell you a soft drink without making you aware of this. And yes, the soda comes out at room temperature. Yikes. In terms of flavors, there's nothing special here. The "spicy" chicken is just chicken thigh meat slathered in gojuchan sauce that tastes comparable to what you can buy from the market. Save yourself some money and venture out to a tastier restaurant with better value for your hard earned dollar.
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
We really are big fans of Chi'Lantro, so we encourage anyone who likes Mexican or Korean food to try this fusion cuisine. If you are lucky to see their food trucks at events, you cannot go wrong with anything you order from them. The kimchi fries were loaded with protein (bulgogi beef was our fave add), melted cheese, and just enough kimchi to not overpower the other flavors. It was enough fries to share between two hungry adults, so they make a great shareable. It was harder to decide on the bowls, but we were very happy with the light noodle bowls with customized toppings. This location is small but there are several seats inside and the curbside pick-up is still available. We definitely plan to return often.
google avatar

Anna G.

Yelp
Got food poisoning halfway through my bowl. Threw it away and spent a while in the bathroom. I emailed customer service twice for a refund and never heard back. I steer clear of Chi'Lantro after that.

Yelp
First time here. food was amazing and it was Fast and easy. Norma and her crew were great.

Yelp
Food is fresh and their service is fast, Norma has this place running on good atmosphere.

Yelp
It's hard to explain this place to someone who hasn't been here. The one way I thought of was saying the food of chipotle had a baby with panda express ? Maybe that's not even a good explanation. My advice to you is build your own bowl and pick out the ingredients you want to mix in. That's the best way for success here. For me I decided to try all of the sauces on the side for two reasons. One they like to douse the bowl in whatever sauce you choose and I typically like sauces for a little bit of flavor not to cover up the flavor of the dish. The second is because I wanted to be able to try all of them independently. I would say skip all of them. None of them are that amazing. But, be sure to get queso on your bowl because that will make a huge difference. If you mix the bowl right it has almost an umami experience. Every bite is somewhat of a different flavor and you don't get sick of it after three bites. With that being said, if you order the spicy chicken, make sure that you are close to a bathroom for the next day or two LOL. It's definitely worth it but there are some side effects.

Janet G.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Had the Tofu bowl. Yummy! Friends made their own bowl. Magic sauce was great! We'll be back. Staff is really nice and helpful.
google avatar

Olivia H.

Yelp
At last, Chi'Lantro Mueller has arrived! This location is also Build-Your-Own style, and all meals are 20% off this weekend. They are still working out a few kinks because it's the soft opening, but my bowl was still delicious as always. I always intend to switch up my order, but my usual bowl is so good that I have a hard time deviating. Personal highlights: the noodles (can combine with rice or greens depending on your mood), spicy pork, and grilled kimchi (different from the regular kimchi). Annnddd sometimes a fried egg if I'm feeling fancy. Love this place!
google avatar

Christopher T.

Yelp
We came in the last thirty minutes of the shift and they hooked us up, right!! We are filled with lovely food. We took it to go, down the street and was fresh as it could be. Mad love y'all from Austin's finest.
google avatar

Poonam S.

Yelp
Parking: plenty of parking present in area! Service/ambiance: everyone was very friendly and helpful especially since it was my first time! Chipotle-styled bowls/burritos etc. Food: vegetarians rejoice! This chain is great for us with offering tofu bowls! It's incredibly big and filling. Dont forget that magic sauce on top!
google avatar

Evan L.

Yelp
I came here for a work lunch and got a bowl with japchae and almost all of the toppings and vegetables. We also split a loaded fries which was very appetizing. As a group of three, we were unable to finish the fries and I had leftovers with my bowl too. If you're looking for a sauce to try, I'd recommend the magic sauce, which is very mayo-based. It was really creamy and had a little bit of a kick which was a good additive to the bowl. I'd definitely return to Chi'lantro in the future for a decently priced filling meal.

Matt M.

Yelp
Food is always quality and the staff always friendly. Most definitely our fav pick up / to go spot in the Mueller area. Don't sleep on their fries!

Tac A.

Yelp
They were storing 3 large bags of jasmine rice in the bathroom floor near the toilet. I talked to the manager and explained this was a huge health code violation. They didn't care at all. 40 minutes went by and the rice was still on the bathroom floor. Photos attached. Rice bags highlighted yellow.

Caitlin A.

Yelp
the food was expensive like around $60 for just for 3 bowls and drinks. it didn't taste very good and definitely wasn't worth the price. Most likely would not come back but the staff were nice and it was clean.
google avatar

Elad D.

Yelp
I have used this location twice a month for the last 2 years. , never again. This last price increase is ridiculous. Every protein is now additional cost and nothing is included in base price, Portions smaller , bowls smaller , quality lower, while price gets more and more ridiculous. Owners need to start to consider what else the same amount of money buys at their competitors. This is basically a salad bar cafeteria that has lost sight of reality. So sad. I'm all for a business making a fair profit during these difficult times but this company has lost its grip what customers are going to accept.
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
Surprisingly great flavor considering it looks like a chipotle but with Korean barbecue options. I got the bowl with soy glaze chicken and it was really good. The spicy ranch and the magic sauce are really good. It is sort of cafeteria style, build your own format for ordering similar to chipotle. Again, despite my hesitation with the format, it was really filling and very tasty. I will definitely go back and explore more vegetarian options too. I will say their basil peach lemonade is really delicious - not too sweet!

Cory M.

Yelp
Love me some Chi'Lantro! I go here once a week and I'm currently ordering again lol. It's great!
google avatar

Jane R.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!! This fusion food is so tasty! I really enjoy the flavors of the dishes at Chi'Lantro. I have tried the make your own rice bowls, noodle bowls, and fries! I like the concept of being able to choose what to put in my dish, it allows everyone to enjoy their dish, and the various options are not overwhelming! Ultimately, the Original Kimchi Fries are hands down my favorite dish here! The employees are also extremely welcoming, patient, and chill! They always give great suggestions when I'm indecisive. The restaurant is always clean and bright with natural lighting during the day. I enjoy the atmosphere!

Claire C.

Yelp
I love this place!! Some of the only food that tastes just as good on a hot day as it does on a cold day!! Service is always friendly!! The first time I visited, the worker took me through the line giving his suggestions and I have gotten the same thing every time since then!! Bad reviews shouldn't deter you from this place because they are definitely doing something right:)

Daniela T.

Yelp
I LOVE this place, food is always so good! Sofia was so welcoming too, definitely coming here again!
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting the restaurant, and I enjoyed my experience. The food was really good, but Cole was even better. His great customer service is genuine, and you can tell he cares about his job from the way he played our meals to the way he maintains the restaurant's cleanliness while the line is empty. Knowing that a restaurant is being taken care of by people like Cole makes it easy to come back for future visits -- I will definitely be back!

John D.

Yelp
Eh tried this place again after the first time wasn't very good (mixed up orders and not very good). This time around my ingredients were correct but the spicy chicken was pretty bland and doesn't look anything like what is pictured on their site. Call me a fool because last time I ate here I swore I never come again, but this time I promise I won't come back!

Kev G.

Yelp
Ordered half beef and half chicken and got charged for a full portion of beef ($3.96) and only got a HALF portion of beef. They told me that's how it works. I called corporate and they informed me that there's no "half" price charge. Ok no problem I'll take my business elsewhere. Food is mediocre at best and is nowhere near authentic Korean food. I will no longer patronize any of this companies establishments.
