Chook Charcoal Chicken

Been wanting to pop in here for a while, thoroughly surprised! Ordered Chook for two with Smashed Cucumber and Chop salad. Chicken was cooked perfectly, didn't even get to take a picture I destroyed it. Sides were also so good! The employees were super friendly too, can't wait to come back soon 🙏

I don't really understand the good reviews. I tried this for the first time and thought the chicken was ok but have had just as good, if not better, grocery store rotisserie. The mac and cheese was really dry and crusty. The potatoes were meh and kind of watery. The salad was, again, just ok and clearly from a bag with a few other ingredients thrown on. For the price, $40.00 for take out for 2, we expected better.

The chicken is absolutely amazing! Not dry at all! The sides were good! We got 4 different types of sauces and shared everything as a family meal! Sides: Mac & Cheese, smashed cucumbers, & potatos. We also got a salad for the table and it was really good! Highly recommend this place! Nice to try something different! Australian restaurant.

I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap online for pickup and paid extra for a side of Caesar dressing. I drove all the way home only to open the container and find that the side of dressing was missing — despite being charged for it. I tried calling the restaurant and got no answer, left a message, and also sent an email, but never received a response. The wrap itself was very disappointing. There was barely any chicken, it was extremely dry, and had very little flavor. The only reason I ordered the extra Caesar dressing was because a TikToker I follow recommended it — unfortunately, without the dressing, it was almost inedible. I rated the atmosphere a 3 only because this was an online order. I was in and out quickly just to pick up my food, so it’s hard to fairly judge the atmosphere. Overall, not impressed and very disappointed with both the food quality and lack of customer service.

I always love eating here. The food is fresh and healthy, the salads are dreamy, and the chicken is fresh. The mashed potatoes are made daily with high-quality ingredients. The service is top-notch and fast, and the employees are friendly.”

The most over-priced, expensive disgusting food I've ever eaten. The sliders were tasteless. You were lucky if a tsp. of shredded, dry chicken made it on the bun. The macaroni and cheese was undercooked and certainly didn't taste like cheese. It was not al dente. It just wasn't cooked enough. I spent $60. I would run from this restaurant. You basically serve yourself. So many better opportunities in Denver. I don't normally leave bad reviews. This was an egregious, bad experience!

The half a chicken for 2 is a really good deal. Chicken skin has a lot of flavor, and the chicken itself was very tender and moist. The two shareable size sides and a small salad with the "for 2" was honestly a little too much food to eat at once and we brought it home to finish later. ~$32 for that is a good deal these days. Will try them again, I was in the area for this location but now will keep an eye out for their other location(s)

This is delicious food! I love that the restaurant is super clean and fresh. I had the 1/4 Chicken with a Smashed Cucumber side dish. The chicken was perfectly done and seasoned. It came with a side of gravy that was amazing and bbq sauce, also good. The Cucumber salad is insanely fresh and tasty! They give u a generous portion too. The pricing is appropriate to me. KFC is expensive and mass production tasting... Chook is fresh and delicious 😋

Order your food up front and they bring the food to you. Welcomed with a smile and patiently let glance over the menu. Food: I got the BLAT. My god the flavors were harmonic. Sourdough perfectly toasted with that right crunch. Enough of the spread where it didn't overpower the flavor of the chicken. The chicken salad was juicy, flavorful with right creamy to tang ratio. I would have gotten a second one. Definitely coming back for a half chicken. Atmosphere: self-seating. Love the wooden interior and the visuals of an open kitchen with the chickens and veggies roasting in front of you as you eat. Light aromas of the spices wafting through the place that make you want to eat more.

Chook serves charcoal rotisserie chicken - imagine an elevated Boston market. I've been in Denver now for about 5 years and I only recently tried them. I feel like they are so underrated because the meal we had was delicious had was delicious! They offer a meal for two costing a little over $30, which is great in today's economy. It came with half a rotisserie chicken, two large sides, and a salad. Plenty of food for hungry eaters. There are a lot of vegetable-based sides, as well as potato wedges, mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes with gravy. I like that you can choose to go healthy or indulge a little My favorite side is the cucumber salad with feta and I LOVE the green goddess salad. Chicken, mac & cheese, salad, potatoes - everything is well seasoned! Perfect bite every time. This is a great spot to come with your family, kids, order healthy takeout, or catch up with a friend. Elevated comfort food at its finest! It's spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. Beer, wine, and cocktails are served.

Ordered for delivery and everything was pretty inedible. Every item was so dry - the chicken, the Mac and cheese, the Caesar wrap, the dinner roll, and the cookie. Everything tasted old/stale. Wrap was also super small and tasted really fishy, so that went completely uneaten. Not sure if they had a slow weekend and I got the stuff that's been sitting there or if this is the norm

Chicken is good, a bit salty but still well cooked. Avoid at all costs the mac and cheese - it's just shells plus oil and butter, worst mac and cheese I've had in Denver. Their smashed cucumber salad is amazing thou! Overall, hit or miss. If they improved their pasta game, this place could be great.

So I was hungry and in the 'hood so decided to try this unassuming little pace on the corner. I had no expectations because it didn't look like anything special, but boy was I surprised. I had one of the best chopped salads ever with very flavorful chicken and their sides are amazing. Now I go once a week and am never disappointed. Their attention to detail is excellent and the guys at the counter really go above and beyond to accommodate you. They provide the trifecta with excellent service, great food, and a lovely and very clean environment. These people really care about giving their customers a special experience. Go, you will be pleasantly surprised!!

I put off trying this Australian inspired spot for months because I kept thinking "it's just rotisserie chicken"-well I'm so glad we got Chook Chicken last night because it was truly delicious! The chicken is juicy, the housemade sauces like smoky macha and piri piri are super flavorful, the sides of fluffy pacific rolls and browned butter squash, even the green goddess salad is one of the best and most unique salads I've ever had. And first time having a lamnington for dessert- if you like coconut this cake is a must!

Came here on o whim and ordered the half chicken for two. It came with two sides and salad. The mashed potatoes were out of this world but the macaroni was a wee bit salty. As for the salad, we ordered the green goddess salad which is not nor traditional green goddess with marinated bell peppers, roasted chickpeas and green beans. Regardless, I was floored. Get extra of the chimichurri sauce and douse the chicken in it. For value, order the half chicken for two!

I got take out and tried their green goddess bowl and was beyond impressed. Their were so many different veggies and flavors and I thought it was reasonably priced considering the ingredients. Service was incredibly fast and my order was ready within minutes. I will be back to try the chicken for sure!!!

Chook chicken is pretty good but I'm not a fan of their sauces. I've tried every one of them and really don't like any of them. The chicken is tasty though regardless of having a good dipping sauce. And the sides are good. The mashed potatoes and the cucumber side are very good. The cake is good too but it is a ridiculously small portion

Some of the best chicken I've had in a long time! The food was healthy and so delicious. We were greeted by their kind staff explaining the menu to us. We wanted to try a ton of their sides and sauces, everything was sooo good! I can't wait to come back when I visit Denver

This is some of the BEST chicken I have ever had. Love their sides too. We visited for a week and had it twice. Wish we had one in Albuquerque! Chooks is awesome!!! It is a little salty so if you are on a low-salt diet beware but I found it delicious.

I got a half chicken, piri piri sauce, chimichurri sauce, a Pacific roll, and the smashed cucumber side The chicken was mediocre. It was fatty and a bit lacking in flavor. The sauces were just okay, though I liked the piri more out of the two. The pacific roll was dry, old, and had a spot of mold on top. The smashed cucumber side was the best thing I ate here, so good! Overall, pretty underwhelming food, I won't be back

Was here long time ago. Finally coming back. Is still was delicious. Order 1/4 dark chicken sandwiches. Very delicious. Nice worked. Good price

Everything was amazing! We had a party of 10 and shared pretty much the whole menu, and ended up ordering more to go! Highly recommend!

Cute and casual dinner spot! We had the half roasted chicken with roasted squash, potato wedges, and grilled carrot salad. Food and drinks were very yummy! Would be a great place to grab food to go! Only :( about them not having mashed potato's at the time we went! Maybe try and get there earlier to make sure everything on the menu is still there! Other than that, nice place to try out!

I just got half a chicken, salad, coleslaw and a slider to go. The slider was my favorite with all the spices in the sauce. Although the rest of the food lacked flavor and I struggled to get past the coleslaw being doused in vinegar to the point where it was inedible for me. I'm on the fence if I'll try this place again.

Favorite neighborhood spot. We love everything on the menu and most recently we placed a large take out order where they forgot a Sammy. But they immediately made it right! Love that there's a kiddo play area too. Which is always clean and inviting! Definitely check them out for a fun family dinner or great night out with friends!

Update: I've eaten here many times since and Chook had totally redeemed themselves. Consistently good food and love the Piri Piri sauce. The squash is absolutely delicious.

Reliable fast casual spot for roasted chicken. We grab takeout here about once a month, usually half a chicken with sides-consistently high quality if a bit pricey. Dine-in is an option. There's a full bar and a nice patio for warmer weather.

I'm amazed how much better this location is than the Greenwood Village location. I ordered a large chopped salad and I actually got a large chopped salad. The employees at this location are much more friendly and don't act like they're doing you a favor and have an attitude. They actually appreciate your business!

Being fortunate enough to live in the neighborhood chook popped up, this was one of the first restaurants I came to support at the start of the pandemic. When the nation shut down and restaurants only offered food to go, we would pick up our Covid conscious brown baggie and walk back home to eat. Can I just add a statement about how phenomenally they handled the pandemic as well? Contactless ordering and pickup, it made me feel like they put their customers and employers safety as a priority. This made me a forever customer of theirs. Chook, meaning chicken in Australian, is cooked over a charcoal rotisserie. You can order however small or larger portion of chicken and sides, and I would totally recommend getting the sides. They are just as, if not more impressive than how well they cook the chicken. The veggies are cooked over a charcoal grill and they're perfectly cooked each time. Not soggy, but with just the right amount of crunch. The chicken is juicy but perfectly cooked each time. Anytime we had a work event, I always suggested Chook and in turn, have converted many friends and family to also become regulars here. I may have suggested them to try the food, but it's the high quality food that keeps us all coming back.

I had the two chalupa meal at Taco Bell yesterday for lunch and it was over $14. Today I spent less then that and had a healthy delicious meal. It was the breast chicken and I didn't even have white meat!

Amazing lunch today. The people working there are so nice and helpful (especially the young man at the register). I had to order take out for an employee who was at the nearby hospital. I'm excited to try the dill pickles and pickled carrots I also bought. I don't live or work nearby but I will find a reason to return!

The food is reliably tasty. We're never disappointed with the chook family food! I wish they'd open another one in our neck of the woods!

When youre feeling guilty about having fried chicken, then look no further! Chook chicken has you covered for your chicken cravings. I love a good charcoal cooked chicken. The meat is tender and packed with flavor. The skin is perfectly charred and goes well with the meat. As sides go, I usually go with their mash potatoes, when they first opened up I thought their mash was rather bland and boring, but since then it's been a staple of mine. The brown gravy is amazing and the Peri Peri sauce goes so well with the chicken. I might say this is the best charcoal chicken I've had to date!

We ordered takeout with half of a chicken, mashed potatoes, pacific rolls, charred mixed veg, celery-apple slaw and the grilled carrot salad. We opted for the gravy and bbq sauce. The standouts were the charred mixed veg, carrot salad, slaw and mashed potatoes. The chicken was delicious but that was to be expected as most roasted chicken is. The bbq sauce is too sweet so we'd opt for a different sauce next time. The gravy was very peppery and we enjoyed that with the potatoes. We wouldn't order the rolls again although they were good. We are not fans of large grains of salt on foods and those other sides are terrifically delicious. Note that the rolls aren't good as leftovers as the rolls are very fresh and don't have any preservatives. Plan to consume those immediately. I am glad we checked our order before we left as it was missing the chicken, the sauces and some of the sides. This was quickly corrected when we went back into the store but be sure to check your order if opting for takeout. The staff seemed relatively inexperienced and overwhelmed with the amount of takeout orders. And this premium priced food is too expensive to overlook these kinds of mistakes. We'd give Chook another try as this was an awesome nutritionally dense and satisfying meal. We would be very hesitant to order delivery given how much of our order was missing but we don't ever really order delivery anyway.

Delivery had chicken sliders with BBQ sauce. The rolls were dry. The BBQ sauce tasted like canned baked bean sauce. I wasn't impressed. Had to chase each bite with a sip of water to wash it down else I was afraid I would choke due to the dryness. For the price I was not satisfied with taste or potion size. Ugh.

Several months ago I went in for lunch. Only one table was occupied. Cashier that took order wasn't in exactly the best, most welcoming mood. There was an expiditer working the counter opposite the kitchen. I was watching him as the guest with me ordered their meal. Orders complete, continued watching him. He took his hand, black glove on and swiped the top of counter. He then picked up two "plates" two bowls replacing one bowl. He then took the same hand he had swiped counter with and put his fingers inside one "plate". Serving up the mashed potatoes followed. We took a seat. Waited around 7-8 minutes. The guy then brings out the meals. I asked him what the purpose of the gloves were, "to protect his hands, or to protect my food". I told him what I saw him do. His response, paraphrasing, maybe my lying eyes didn't see what I saw him do". I got pissed stat. Then I reviewed what I witnessed. Needless to say he concurred, however made no apology. In addition because the potatoes had sat for 8 minutes they were cold. I had been to this location before, meals were good, this one not so. Consistency is important, maybe not taken seriously at this location. No, I don't need to go back. Too many options.

I love Chook Chicken and order it via Grubhub frequently, as I'm a housebound disabled vet. You know why I'm reluctant to order it again? Dry smashed cucumbers. Who tf wants dry salad? It's supposed to be cucumber salad, one of my favorite things since I was a kid. My Nany and Mom made the best. Since they died, Chook Chicken made the closest thing to it. But 9/10 it has arrived dry. No vinegarette, no avocados...WTF? I've suffered in silence but this time I got a refund and I'm not going to order anymore. Because dry salad is disgusting.

If I could give it a zero I would! I bought a full chicken and LARGE size of cucumber mash. Went back to my car to check the order and had about 3/4 cup of mashed cucumber. I took the receipt and the side back inside and asked for the large. The guy halted, said "of course", then "wait that is the large" . So they charged me $8 for 1/4 cup of cucumbers and wouldn't remedy the situation when I asked. NEVER coming back here!

Every party has a pooper. Based on the 11 previous reviews, it appears to be me for now. Why? We weren't that impressed.This carnivore loves roasted chicken. Reviews were solid. What could go wrong? Well, nothing went wrong--but, the sides shouldn't carry a meal when chicken's got top billing. We found the chicken milquetoast--for the noncommittal palate. Mom ordered Le Chicken Sandwich. She reports a large portion in which every ingredient was fresh, well-chosen, and tasty--except the chicken. She called it bland. My half chicken was large enough to take half home. It looked appetizing. White meat was juicy. The taste was just ok. Charcoal's front and center, but lacks personality. I struggled to find a comparison. It finally occurred to me--Tandoori chicken without the yogurt and spices. Chooks' sides show the potential of this place. Adding shallots to the mashers makes for a masterful move. I wished we'd ordered two. Mac & cheese offered both a substantial mouthfeel and the kind of cheesy taste I'd expect, but without being too heavy. In a distant third place were the potato wedges saturated with Chook Chicken Salt, which seems a unique combo of cinnamon, salt, and other spices that wants you to think of Old Bay. An order of chicken comes with a choice of sauce--a tiny little cup. We thought the gravy was "young," as in it hadn't had time to thicken, but it has potential. However, the same triple-thimble size comes along with the mashers--not enough. I enjoyed the piri-piri sauce, bright red with some zing. Drinks... $2.50 scores a 12oz glass of craft soda with lots of ice, no refill--good, but not worth it. I was glad we had water, as every dish was sal-ty. They offer a small, but well-curated local microbrew list. If I'd been in the mood, there were worthy choices to be had. We liked the open, friendly dining area and ambiance. One unique, very smart feature is the pictured area for kids to read and play. My hat's off to whoever thought of this, as most tables around us hosted kiddos of various ages.

We have been trying out new places since the pandemic and really trying to support local business during these terrible times. Last night we tried Chook (there are two Denver locations). They have made curbside and delivery seamless and very easy. We did curbside pick up and it was ready the minute we arrived, didn't even have to get out of our car! We ordered 1/4 white and 1/4 dark, both were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and flavorful and juicy inside. We both had Piri Piri sauce and liked it, but were hoping for a bit more spice! We ordered the slaw (OUT OF THIS WORLD) and roasted veggies, incredibly delicious. They have a lot on the menu and we wanted to try it all. We bought their chicken salt (INCREDIBLE) and will definitely back to try the sandwiches and buy their chicken stock. We also bought a bottle of wine which paired nicely. All in all, it waas a great experience, prices are VERY reasonable and the flavors are quite unforgettable. Looking forward to returning very soon!

So - I have always loved their Pearl Street location. But now - this one is closer to my hood. 5 Stars for Chook donating food to Poll Workers. This alone makes me want to do business with them. But - the food is good. It's actually really good. It's comfort food and healthy/tasty and everything you just want and need now a days. Plus - if you are taking out.. this keeps/travels well. Things to note: 1) You get the chicken. Dark Meat, White Meat, Pulled - whatever.. it's generally always juicy and moist. This charcoal chicken is so simple but flavorful. 2) Lots of good sides like charred veggies and mac n cheese 3) Kids menu options 4) Yes, they also deliver.

I never thought take-out roasted chicken could be so delicious. Dad gum! Mmmm mmm. This Aussie-inspired local chicken chain from the founders of Snooze and Mercantile delivers the home-cooked goods. We ordered the "Chook for 2," which featured a half chicken (white and dark), "mum's" bombdotcom gravy, bbq sauce, and offers your choice of 2 sides (we chose the brown butter squash and the orchiette Mac n' cheese...we chose WISELY) as well as a choice of salad (the Chook chop was excellent). All in, with tax and tip, it added up to $35.78, which I thought was a great deal for the quality and portion size. I can't wait to return for more soon when we are craving comfort food on a dreary, cold evening.

A regular in our takeout rotation, especially when we are too tired to cook but want real food. Chicken is tasty, sauces are FIRE, and the sides are also really good. My favorite side is the miso broccoli, but its not always on the menu. Definitely get it if it is. Of course you can't go wrong with the mac and cheese or mashed potatoes either. Salads are good too! Just generally a good weeknight takeout spot.

an unbelievably bad customer experience. I was with 3 other people and we all ordered. When my order came, it was like to forkfuls of salad and when I told the server about it, all she could say was to talk to the manager. So, I did just that and she basically said tough luck to me. No offers of a larger salad; no offers of a comped salad; no nothing!!!! And when we left, my other 3 friends said that they had never seen anything like what happened to me. The salad by their estimates, wasn't even worthy of being called a small small. I would bet the they will not go back either. And rude at that!! This place has customer anti-service as their motto!!!! I will never return nor have anyone with whom I've had dinner will even offer to go there as they know how I feel. Bad marketing ....

One of my top 10 favorite places in Denver. Just straight forward delicious food, in a style unlike anywhere else's in the city. Best enjoyed in house, I haven't had as good of an experience with delivery as fresh in person, the smell of the place alone is with coming in. Come down and experience Chook for your self.

Missing the hype here. Average at best, food was mediocre but the service and ambiance elevate my ratting. The interior has a modern finish with a nice high rise ceiling and big tall glass windows with lovely lighting/decor. The dark meat chicken was cooked okay and it tasted fine but it was not flavorful...it was bland, the hot sauce was really good and it was rich. I had the side of veggies, it is a health alternative but I'm not a fan of cold veggies so a warning would be nice. It had seeds and nuts and a dressing that was very kosher. I've had dinner here a couple times and it's been excellent every visit. The chicken is absolutely incredible: it's well-seasoned and literally falls off the bone. The staff is always courteous and happy to see you. On top of all that the prices are affordable. I'm looking forward to coming back often.

I had heard of this place and when I saw it as I was driving by, I had to stop. The place is bright and has nice decor. The service could not have been more friendly. I left very impressed by that. The food was good, but I was just a little disappointed by my beet salad. I love a beet salad but the menu in the restaurant didn't say what was included. When I asked I got a very general description of beets and fruit with dressing.. They didn't mention the nuts which luckily I was fine with, but I hate dried fruit and that wasn't mentioned at all, so I ended up having to pick around that. I would just say that if a customer is asking for specifics about an item that everything should be mentioned. I would definitely come back though.

Hands down the most delicious... EVERYTHING!!! When a salad doesn't need dressing you know it is well worth it. I highly recommend the Beets & Berries Salad. At first, I was going to remove the spiced nuts/seeds but I am so glad I kept that in the mix and added some pulled chicken. My housemates and I were thrilled we got to support this local business for Chooksgiving (their version of Thanksgiving) since we were all stranded in Denver. We placed a special order for 4 people and it was the most reasonable, proportioned, tastiest food we have each had in awhile. We ordered the chicken, stuffing, squash, veggies, sweet potatoes, rolls, beets & berries salad (cranberry sauce not included - made by a friend). I have been praising, complimenting, and sharing Chook for days now. Thank you for making this year's holiday special!

Another hyped up from reviews disappointment. The chicken was tough and underwhelming. The sliders and sauces were- wait for it: JUST OKAY! I know this place boast pampering the chickens from make shift farms but do yourself a favor and buy some shredded chicken from the grocery store and / or a rotisserie from Costco and it will be just as good if not better . You'll save time and money because this place is EXPENSIVE! Your welcome readers! Sorry Chook. I needed to state the facts.

Chook delivery? Don't mind if I do! Since crazy times call for delivery from everywhere, I was lucky enough to order Chook for delivery while my household was self-isolating. We ordered the family meal: whole chicken, two sauces, three sides, and a large salad. I felt good about this delivery. Rotisserie chicken and the fixins last for days, and while restaurant food is always saltier than I should eat, Chook seems healthier than other options. And this meal was big enough that we were still eating it days later. We eventually made fried rice with what was left of the chicken (and leftover rice that I'd made, of course) to finish it all off. The kale and beet salad was delicious. It was big, and it kept in our fridge until we finished it over 3 days. The chicken is, as always, delicious and perfectly cooked. The sides were also delicious. I love the roasted veggies with tahina and other spices that make them burst with flavor. The carrot apple slaw and mashed potatoes pack a flavor punch, too. I've learned that we probably should order extra sauces. The chimichurri is so good that we would probably buy a jar if we could. To top it all off, everything came in compostable containers, so I was able to put the plates and bowls and lids into my compost pickup bin. I felt much better about takeout knowing that I could do that.

Solid experience here! Easy online order process & time on the food. The chicken is a little small, so you might want to order bigger; their cooking process makes it amazing, along with the variety of sauces. The real standout to me was the Booyah Stew. Sooo hearty and will be a go to for the winter season. The Miso broccoli side was also something not to miss. Big thumbs up!

While the name is a mouthful, the food was excellent. I had a salad and, while not cheap, it was worth it. The food preparation is a bit slow , but things are made to order and since it was so good, it was worth the wait. Not too many tables inside, so next time I think I will do takeout. Overall, highly recommended.
