"Chubby Curry is offering three courses for $25. Appetizer options include nori curry fries or cucumber salad, while the eponymous Chubby Curry with wagyu and chicken katsu are both available as mains. The restaurant is serving mochi for dessert." - Rebecca Roland

"Most go to Chubby Curry for the eponymous curry, but the burger on the menu is a must-order. It’s a behemoth of a wagyu burger topped with caramelized onions and sandwiched between a golden brown bun. The best part is that it comes in at $18 for an eight-ounce patty." - Rebecca Roland

"Chubby Group’s rapidly expanding empire of Japanese wagyu restaurants has found a foothold in Beverly Hills with an ode to casual curry dishes. Using some meats from the group’s pricey Downtown restaurant Niku X in attainable curry dishes, diners can indulge in high-end wagyu without the elevated price tag. Curry udon noodles come in a hot skillet topped with maitake mushrooms and sliced wagyu round for less than $20. The thick, well-seared curry burger is easily one of the best new burgers in town. Many of the restaurants in Beverly Hills will break the bank, but Chubby Curry certainly won’t." - Matthew Kang

"This Beverly Hills spot is from the same people as Niku X, the upscale Japanese yakiniku restaurant in DTLA. Rather than wagyu beef sets with smoke effects, the specialty here is simple Japanese curry and tonkatsu. Besides the classic pork cutlet, there’s also chicken and mushroom options, plus a burger with lots of caramelized onions and curry aioli." - Sylvio Martins

"Chubby Curry's standout dish is its pub-style burger made with wagyu beef, caramelized onion, and curry-inflected aioli. The restaurant also offers fantastic curry and katsu dishes." - Eater Staff

We were very excited to try chubby curry since we really like Japanese curry and the reviews were positive. Maybe our expectations were too high but overall total experience was average. First the food…nothing amazing and the food lacked the flavour depth. All the curry tasted the same and we lost interest in finish the food. The tonkatsu was decent and the best food item was the fries. Service was average since they only had two people working as waiters so it took awhile to get their attention. Living in LA, there are just too many better options for curry to return to Chubby Curry.

This unassuming spot is an absolute gem. Incredibly friendly service. Unique menu. The ambiance is very fun. The waffle fries were some of the best I’ve ever had. Excellent tonkatsu with a luscious curry. The beef stew was fantastic as well. The beverage menu is well curated with some beers & sakes that you won’t find many other places.

Food is very good, probably 4.5/5. We had great service and feels just like a typically curry restaurant in Japan. Katsu dishes were delicious and while the curry itself is good, not quite as good as you get in Japan. Overall very good value for money and a good experience. They give a locals discount so let them know if you live nearby.

Solid Japanese curry restaurant. The interior is well thought out and inviting. The wait person was so nice and accommodating. They asked how our meal was and before we left if they could do anything better. Very interested in our feedback and suggestions. We really enjoyed the food and we plan to visit again soon. Highly recommended. Meter parking, can be challenging on Beverly Ave at key times.

My friend had a Groupon for two, so I got to join her. We each got a curry and a side for roughly $14 each! We each tried the Chubby Curry. We both didn't like it very much because of the cocoa. I think I would have preferred a more savory Japanese curry flavor. The chicken katsu was the best. The gyoza were good, but I wouldn't have been able to tell if it was really wagyu ?? Maybe the wagyu burger is the thing to get here, ironically. Service was mid. The poor guy was working the front all alone. Parking is $3-6 in the structure across the street. It's not really worth coming all the way out to Beverly Hills for this.

This place is very mid, nothing special. They have lots of Wagyu but they’re ground or cuts of beef round, so it’s probably leftovers from the restaurant group’s other chains. The Udon Know Me seemed a little small, but the udon was cooked well (not dry) and their curry tastes good. The Wagyu is a lower quality cut so it’s not some crazily fatty slice of meat, just normal meat (though again not dry). The maitake mushrooms were in large bunches, and I think a third of that size is more appropriate. The curry fries are yummy. How could you go wrong with that? I was hoping for the waffle fries that I saw in other reviews, but they switched up to curly fries (are they frozen?). The buffalo chicken sando features a massive piece of chicken breast with an amazingly light fry around the exterior. They sauce is also pretty light, but then over all the sandwich ends up a bit dry.

It was fine. And yes I know that Japanese curry (which I prefer) can be sweeter than Indian or Thai and the flavor was buttery and silky smooth but the food didn't wow me. I wish there was more grit to it, texturally and taste wise if that makes sense. The nice hostess asked us if we had (not because we didn't like it) so I said how about some togarashi (Japanese pepper) at the table but she explained that the chefs didn't want to change the integrity of their food. We also had the wagyu burger which was solid.

New spot in Beverly! Very tasty curry! Love their fried chicken curry and Wagyu burger! The lunch special is also all you can eat curry which my boyfriend thought was pretty cool. This place is also dog friendly, I love it.
