I didn’t know donuts could be this good! Get at least a half a dozen so you can try multiple. I had the maple bar. It was SO soft and had the perfect amount of maple on top. It was so busy inside. It’s a popular place, for good reason!

Oh my goodness! I’m out here from the Washington DC area visiting my adult child and they told me I absolutely had to try Chuck’s donuts. We ordered them last night and picked them up this morning. The apple fritter was absolutely incredible. The crispy edges punctuated with glaze made my eyes roll back in my head. The maple bar was as light as a cloud and the house made maple frosting was incredible. This place is a 10/10. I will definitely be back there again!

Google
I have passed by Chuck’s numerous times, but never had a chance to stop by. I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad I did! The hype on Chuck’s donuts is legit! Highly recommend their maple bar. Their donuts are so soft and fresh, and the house made maple frosting is amazing. You don’t want to miss this.

Google
Showed up at 4:30am to buy some donuts for work mates. They had already mixed dozen boxes available so it was fast and easy. The maple bars have a homemade feel to them and the flavor is the absolute best. Highly recommend!

Google
I've been going here since before I can remember, almost 20 years, and this place consistently pushes out the best tasting, highest quality donuts (especially maple bars) that I have ever had. I couldn't possibly rate them higher, and they deserve it.

Google
The most Awesome Donuts in this part of the country. Sells out everyday so go early. Maple Bars are Magnificently Fabulously Delicious. I go between 4-6am. Worth it. Dozen go for about 20-24$ locals are loyal, a must to experience its Grandeur

Google
Hands down the best donuts in washington! The maple bars have a whipped topping on them and they are just the absolute best! My dad has been coming here since he was a kid and I've been going since I was a kid. 😍

Elissa Sommer

Google
Chuck's donuts are so yummy! Always soft and fresh. Never greasy in your mouth. The fritters actually taste like apple. The maple is more of a whipped frosting than a glaze. It is soooo good!

William S.

Yelp
Maple bars are amazing! They are not on the cheap side but well worth a try. Amazing that they are open at 3 am. I will definitely be getting a box or two again.

Ibro Y.

Yelp
Best donuts I've ever had in my life it was so good that it was literally good and I couldn't believe how good it was cause it was just so good

Ryan S.

Yelp
Great local place. Fresh made donuts are the best. We have nothing but highest praise for this place!!

Jonny L.

Yelp
this is one of those places where you question the business model. good food and they do great business. but they run out of donuts and their interior looks like a storage room. raise the prices, make more donuts, make another location in bellevue and spend money on the interior. having said all that. keeping the formula in the family is obviously important and they are doing great only thing that I would actually change is how unfriendly they are and how it asks for tip for handing you donuts. they charge you for using your credit card etc. raise your prices a bit and don't save money on customer service.

Tiffany G.

Yelp
Love their maple bars! They charge extra for card, so maybe bring cash. 85 character minimum

Tammy L.

Yelp
Our favorite donuts on the Eastside. We always make a point to go on a Saturday when they make their cruellers. Service is quick and consistent. The shop is small with a couple chairs and tables to sit and enjoy your donuts.

Michael X.

Yelp
I love doughnuts and I am always on the lookout to satiate this craving, and Chuck's Donuts looked to be an interesting option to checkout early in the morning while down in the Renton area. I stopped by Chuck's around 7-8AM on a Saturday, and there was a decent amount of people waiting in line to get their doughnut fill too - I would say about a 5-10 minute wait in line, which isn't long at all. The donut shop has a parking lot at the front of the store, which is also connected to the same lot as a nearby gas station. As a note, the parking lot can get full fairly fast, even early in the morning. Inside the restaurant, there aren't any places to sit, and the ambiance is more of a order and take your doughnuts to go type of feeling. Doughnuts are on display in the store, and you can just tell the clerk which ones you would like. I got an assortment of doughnuts, from filled to the standard glazed. I also got the maple bar since many of the other reviews mentioned the maple bar is the thing to get while visiting Chuck's. These are pretty hearty doughnuts! I would say that the creme filled one was my favorite. In comparison the the jelly filled one, which I personally felt that they could have gave a bit more jelly and distributed it a bit better. The maple bar was decent, as though also as a personal preference would have liked more frosting as it was much for dough - it did get slightly bland for me. In the end, I spent about $11 for the six doughnuts here, which I think is a reasonable price for the amount of food that you receive. There are good variety of other donut options as you could see in the photos on display, I would definitely like to try some other options when I'm in the area again.

Yelp
Best donuts in WA! Local family owned business and always a pleasant visit. Maple bars are the best! But also the chocolate twists and French crullers!

Lisa D.

Yelp
Yummy maple bar donuts! We decided to stop by because of all the great reviews of their maple bars. The maple bars definitely did not disappoint! The maple looked thick but the donut was fluffy and it surprisingly wasn't too sweet! Definitely recommend if you like maple bars. We arrived around 10am on a weekday and there weren't many bars left. I'm not sure if they working on making more. The cashier was friendly & it's a cute little donut shop with a few tables. There's a small coffee shop across the donut shop too to go with your donuts!

Steve S.

Yelp
I first heard about Chuck's about six years ago. One of my coworkers used to pick up donuts there once a week and they were usually devoured within the first hour after they hit the employee break room. When we had guests traveling to our office location we also made sure to have an ample amount of donuts on hand, and Chuck was our go to. What can I say about the maple bars...fresh, soft and delicious ! The rest of the assortment was very tasty, but the maple bar stood out to me. Located up the hill off of exit 5 off 405 inRenton, They have ample parking. get there early so that you don't miss out. That happened to me once and I was disappointed for the rest of the day. Great donut shop highly recommended.

Yelp
UPDATE: Inflation hit hard...I guess. I purchased 2 dozen. (1) dozen maple bars (iykyk) and (1) dozen customized assorted which consist of (4) glazed twists, (4) chocolate bars, (2) jelly filled and (2) maple bars. 4 years ago, driving 30-40 min to get some Chucks was worth it, NOW, I can't justify spending time in traffic to pick AND to pay $50 worth of donuts. It's the cost that really left me not caring for Chuck's anymore. Almost distasteful. Love it (thus the reason we couldn't wait to get home to eat) but I just can't anymore. Although this may be my last trip to Chuck's I will enjoy every bite and gift some to a friend.

Marvin R.

Yelp
A local legend, Chucks Donuts has graced the Renton Highlands and Washington State for decades. The owners have changed hands, but the tasty treats are ready for those starting the early morning shift at Boeing. Having that 'divey' feel, you know the donuts are going to be quality. A small family business to the core, Chuck's is ready to serve you quickly and efficiently. One thing that does distinguish them is the frosting. Not a typical hard glaze on the prototypical maple or chocolate. It's a more fluffy spread-on type. But its light, and both the maple or chocolate taste comes out in a very different but equally great tasting donut. So, if you're up early, come on over! The coffee is hot and the donuts are fresh!

Michael H.

Yelp
Service is great. Everyone is really nice. They are a popular place because I had a lot of coworkers talking about them. I thought the donuts were ok. I don't have any complaints.

Nenita W.

Yelp
Bought French crullers and they tasted burnt and smelled burnt. Bought sugar donuts and maple bar was surprisingly tasted different. Quality for some reason has gone down. As expensive as they were they lost their amazing taste. Safeway and Fred Meyer is far less expensive and better quality. Sorry Chuck but your quality has gone down. Maybe I will try your devil food donut and hopefully they will taste better

Yas T.

Yelp
Donut shops are dime a dozen but hands down for me, CHUCK'S iz da bessesst! The frosting is sort of like a whipped texture which is airy not thick and hard (if u kno wat I mean) the donut is fluffy and not greasy at all. Go check it out it's a winnah.

Jeff B.

Yelp
Omg the bars...both chocolate and maple...hands down the best in the world! It's as if Chuck grabs clouds from the sky, and ads his signature chocolate and maple topping. The topping are like a whip cream base, so light, not too sweet. The bar is so light and fluffy, if you could bite into a cloud, this is what it would feel like. Of course all the other donuts are just as delicious; the French cruller, cinnamon roll, original glazed, blueberry cake...just order everything! But again, the maple bars and chocolate bars are out of this world, amazingly delicious!

Shelly S.

Yelp
This place has been around for a very long time and known for their donuts! Personally I love the old fashioned donut and they make a mean donut! The place is small but always busy as it is a local favorite. The service is super fast and they are really nice. I believe it is a local family that owns it now and has added the bubble tea to the menu. I have heard that their maple bar is by far the best one in town! The ambiance is fast, friendly and casual. you won't be disappointed with what you get there! Each box of assorted donuts will run you about $20.00 and it is not a bakers dozen.

Kevin S.

Yelp
This Asian lady behind counter is very rude. She rolled her eyes when I simply asked for a bag to put my child's donut in while she is at school. She was very rushing and kept repeating the number of donuts I have left. I had to tell her I can count my self ma'am. Do not like the pushing feeling of being rushed when I'm the only customer in the shop! Service sucks and am very disappointed with my encounter on this morning!!!!! Zero star if you ask me!!!!

Belldandy O.

Yelp
The maple bar donuts are SOOO GOOD here! I have also seen Chuck's Donut Shop whenever I drive through Renton, but this was the first time I tried their donuts, specifically the maple bar. I will definitely come back to get more maple bars and their other donuts soon!

Keri M.

Yelp
My boss brought in a few dozen variety donuts. I helped myself to a classic maple bar and Holy Shiznit! Best freakin maple bar ever!!! My day is complete.

Ivana K.

Yelp
Atmosphere: 2/5 In their defense, we did go as soon as they opened (yes, we went at 3AM...) so I can't expect it to be super lively and bustling. However, upon entering, we felt a bit uncomfy and out of place. They didn't seem happy to be there, and it rubbed off on us. Service: 1/5 Again, we know we went at 3AM, but we were really put off by the service. Everyone there just seemed annoyed. No one acknowledged us or bothered to start a conversation. They kind of just stood there and waited for us to say something. They also got visiblyannoyed when we decided to order a few more things when we had told them we were just going to get a couple of donuts. Food: 1.5/5 I know they are very well known for their whipped maple bars - however, we didn't think they stood out to other maple bars we've had. It's no way worth going as early as we did (as some had recommended). The rest of the donuts were also average as well. We also rated this section so low because we felt extremely sick after eating these donuts. I know donuts aren't the healthiest things to eat, but we've never felt this way with other donut shops. The donuts made us feel nauseous and icky - maybe it was the oil they used? Location: 5/5 It's located in a plaza - ample parking.

Will J.

Yelp
So goooood! Those Maple Bars hit different here! I don't consider myself a "Foodie" but my friends seem to and I was actually referred to Chucks by a friend of mine and he was right on the money about how good the donuts are here! We try to go anytime we're in the area but get there early for the best selection of treats!

Jay S.

Yelp
We always can count on the maple bars! I tried the blueberry cake, it was not very good. Maple bars rule!

Jacques I.

Yelp
Holy shit, Chuck! You've made the best maple bar I've ever had - and I don't even like maple bars! Yes, the hype is real here. Chuck's Donut Shop makes the best maple bars in town or possibly, the universe. Holy crap. I had a meeting in east Renton, so decided to finally check out what all the fuss was about with Chuck's Donut Shop. Many people told me about this spot, especially for the maple bars, so had to give it a shot, even though I don't like maple bars. I ordered a dozen maple bars, which was only $20. Although maple bars is what to come here for, the shop had a variety of different donuts and flavors. I also loved meeting the family that owns this establishment. You can tell there's a lot of family love that goes into this. In addition to donuts, they have chilled drinks in the fridge and coffee. The maple bar was soft and easily sunk my teeth into it. The maple cream on top was so incredibly good, and the perfect doughy, soft texture just made it all the more fantastic. I am now a believer in the maple bar. Thank you, Chuck.

Debra W.

Yelp
I consider myself a donut snob. I love a good donut. Cake, yeast or even brioche. I just enjoy them all. The donuts you will find at Chuck's are your good traditional donuts that we have all come to love and respect. The claim to fame here are their maple bars. It's the icing that makes the difference. It's whipped and on the fluffy side with just a little touch over the too sweet side. But these maple bars are delicious. The icing works well with the donut. I always come on my way to work at like 5-6am and they always have a great selection at this time. On one visit, later in the morning - I definitely was lucky to get any donut. They were almost out but those donuts were just as fresh as when I come early in the morning. The buttermilk and old fashioned are done superbly here. Some of my favorites. I will say we ordered a bear claw here once and it had a cream filling on the inside. We were taken aback and did not enjoy that as we have never had that before and definitely were not expecting the cream in a bear claw. Another favorite is the maple cinnamon roll with nuts. I always get this for myself and it's just everything I want in a bite. I found this place because it came highly recommended when we moved here and now I always highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good donut. You can order online and preorder if you know you want a big order but I always like to just take my chances and see what's available upon arrival.

Yelp
Maple Bar 5/5 overall. Icing/Topping 5/5. Dough 5/5. Size and Value 5/5. Chucks is legendary for the best maple bar in Washington, the whipped maple frosting is truly special. They are a must try for all maple bar lovers. Apple Fritter 5/5 overall. Crispness 5/5. Flavor blend 5/5. Dough 5/5. Fruit volume 5/5. Size and Value 5/5. This fritter was amazing, it got better throughout the day as I slowly enjoyed every bite until it was gone. Then sadness since it was gone.... Blueberry Scone 4.6/5 overall. Crispness 4/5. Yelp
Best maple bars I've ever had! OMG!! They make them fresh daily If you haven't been to Chuck's Donut you NEED TO GO! I promise you won't regret it. Yes, obviously they have different kinds of donuts and you'll love them too.

Dav H.

Yelp
Visited Chuck's last week and was surprised by the donuts and the customer service. I've gone to Chuck's years ago in the past and decided to visit the other day. I've always known them to have above average donuts, but sadly was disappointed. The maple bars I got were just okay. The icing on it was something different, not the typical shiny maple glaze that I'm used to. This maple looked like frosting you'd put on a cupcake. But it tasted okay, just was "different." But the service by the shorter woman in the morning was nothing I expected. Not a "hello," or even a smile to greet your customer was present. And it felt like I was annoying her trying to select my 6 donuts. All in all, I probably won't be back any time soon. Plus, the donuts don't taste like they used to back in the day.

Natanya F.

Yelp
Donuts were good! But service was poor! I don't know if the cashier was having a bad morning but she definitely acted as she didn't want to be there! It was our first time there but will not be returning!

Gino C.

Yelp
Very awesome donuts this spot is the go to for maple bars the VERY BEST maple bars in the PNW, the business is family owned and i've been going here for years its awesome they open at 3am for us early morning blue collar workers who wanna bring in donuts for the crew. definitely a must visit donut spot.

Taejah J.

Yelp
These donuts are amazing. My personal favorite are the maple bars. They are so light and fluffy while the icing is like light brown sugar maple tasting. The prices are very reasonable. I love coming here, definitely worth the try. We get them for our work parties and everyone raves about them.

Brian P.

Yelp
Best donuts around. Maple bars are basically cake frosting. Owner is so nice and we love these donuts.

Olivia W.

Yelp
Love it here might be better then crispy cream remember I said might be recommended infinite but I would not get nothing but the donuts because everything else is not really bad but not good either i fell in love with these donuts though but the glaze donut just built different it's just a masterpiece it should be in a museum just amazing mwah .

Rachel H.

Yelp
Fantastic maple bar. Unfortunately, the new ownership lacks in friendliness and customer service. Super rude and just want to move you down the line quickly.

Gigi J.

Yelp
Best maple bars ever. Period. Make sure to stop by earlier in the morning since they tend to run out!

Brian C.

Yelp
Went to grab some donuts from Chuck's mid morning on a weekday and the whole display case was practically empty. I can understand if this was an occasional mishap, but they seem to really limit production of their items regularly. I've been here several times in the past and this is a reoccurring issue. Customers that came in after me also commented "Is this all that's left?!?" Not completely sure what the reasoning is behind limited daily production. Don't get me wrong, their donuts are tasty, but please skip the date filled donut. If I had another choice I would have picked something else, but had a hard time picking from their remaining selection just to get a half dozen. When I was rung up, I had to confirm that the amount was right since I was charged $14.50 and not the $9.50 on their menu board. I'm suspecting some of the remaining donuts I picked were "specials" but I was essentially charged the same price for a full dozen..and they made no indication there was different pricing while I was selecting the donuts. It's also equally disturbing that in this day in age they apply a surcharge on credit card transactions. Please build that into your pricing! Final point and a big factor for me giving them just 2 stars. The service was really cold and there was no appreciation for their customers. No greeting, no thank you, and just an overall bad experience for me. Maybe their business is so good they don't think they need to appreciate their customers. As a small business there should be a much better customer experience..after all customer's don't owe you anything. I wish them well and really hope they improve their customer service.

Richard K.

Yelp
Chuck's donuts are some of the best donuts I have had in my life I know that is a stretch for some to believe but when I say those donuts are hands-down amazing I definitively mean it. The maple bars specifically are bar none the best the biggest downside is that they run out of donuts so frequently and so early, but they end up having to close Early most days which sucks for me because sometimes I can't always make it over there in a timely manner. And I don't really see myself going over there at 3 AM lol but honestly these donuts may be life-changing.!

Sitara M.

Yelp
Have tried only their maple bars and they are GOOD!!! A friend got there early in the morning to grab two dozen maple bars for my baby shower. Hadn't tried them before and not a fan of maple bars in general. But these were really good! It was light and fluffy and the whipped maple glaze was not overpowering in flavor or texture. I look forward to trying out their other flavors in the future.

Marie R.

Yelp
Happy National Doughnuts Day everyone! This place is right next to the hair salon that I frequent and every single time I go to the salon, I would check out this place and they are always, always, always sold out... except for the last time! I was able to score some maple French cruellers. I had a feeling they would be great since they're always sold out, and I was right! The light crunch of the crueller plus the mild sweetness of the maple glaze, it was just heaven in my mouth. It has the crunch but it was light and airy and not overly sweet. Fast forward to today, I preordered 7 donuts! I have been trying to eliminate my sugar intake but this place is 100% worth breaking my no-sweets diet for! And if you're gonna break your diet, might as well go all out! My favorite from the 7 items I got is the maple/nut Persian! The doughnut has a slight crunch but it's still light and airy. The maple glaze plus the peanuts add extra texture to it. Everything else was delicious, don't get me wrong! So whatever you get from here, you'll be highly satisfied. This place supposedly close at 2 every day, but they sell out early all the time! They open at 3am! 3am! I'm still dreaming at that point but if you happen to be up early one day, check out this place!

Lissie B.

Yelp
Their prices have sky rocketed here! $26+ not including tip for a dozen of regular sized donuts is a little crazy. Their maple donuts are the best maple bars I've had. Nothing fancy but their whipped frosting is what makes their donuts really good. Their maple bars are 4.5 stars but the other flavors are not as good. The glaze, sprinkles, cake donuts, fritters, donut holes are 2 stars.

John M.

Yelp
Old school donuts, fresh, great tasting. Some of the shops near me are too gourmet and sometime you just want a donut and not an adventure. Staff presents like they want you to be there, which is great. Not much seating but enough space to devoure and dunk your donut.

Carmen C.

Yelp
Picked up some donuts from Chuck's on a Saturday morning, and there was no wait! We got an assortment of donuts for $14: French cruller, Boston cream, maple bar, apple fritter, nut Persian, chocolate glazed, and blueberry scone. It was really by chance that we were there on the only day they made French crullers. These were some of the best donuts we've had. My personal favorites were the Boston cream, apple fritter and the French cruller. I especially appreciated the fact that these donuts weren't overwhelmingly sweet like that typical at other places. The blueberry scone also came with generous amounts of big, sweet blueberries, although it was a lot softer in texture and less buttery than what I expected from a scone.

Alyssa H.

Yelp
Can't beat this place. I am not a donut person but I am a chuck's donut person. I hate to brag about the maple bars because they are just going to be sold out earlier and earlier but they are phenomenal.

Tera-Rose L.

Yelp
I've been going here for years. The maple bars and the chocolate bars are simply irresistible! The donuts are always light and d fluffy, and they are not shy with the frosting.

Amanda H.

Yelp
My coworker was raving about Chuck's donuts so I decided to stop by and grab a dozen to bring into the office on Friday. I got there shortly after 7 and was surprised by how busy they were! Full parking lot and a continuously moving line. The service was quick and great, I barely waited and was out the door within 5 minutes of getting there. I got the premixed variety box for $20. The frosting on these donuts is so good, it tastes homemade and the donuts are all fresh. My coworkers were excited and also loved the donuts. The maple bars were the biggest hit. Highly recommend!!

Jeni F.

Yelp
Nothing beats your neighborhood donut shop. Fresh baked and so tasty. Apple fritters are large and the perfect crunch on the outside. Definitely a must try.

Mindy N.

Yelp
Use to come monthly but stopped in December bc twice, the batch we got had waaay too much vanilla extract in the maple frosting that it kinda threw us off and were worried they changed the recipe. Gave it a few months, came back today and am glad it's back to what we remember. As always, you wanna go early bc they do sell out quick and will close early. It's a quiet and small shop so please try to decide quick bc this is more of an "in and out" shop and not built to just hang around talking.

Ilynn Dahyun A.

Yelp
Went to this place because I saw it on instagram- said that they had the best maple bars in Seattle. I am writing this review even before I tried a bite of their donut because of their service. When we were in line to pay, one of their staff had packed our donuts and I was not paying attention to how and where she was packing them into. So when it was our turn to pay, I noticed that there was a white bag and a brown box that was side by side, I assumed that they were both ours. When the lady who looked like the owner had asked if those donuts were ours, I of course said yes. But it turned out that the white bag wasn't ours and we had already paid for both the white bag and the brown box. I could tell she was very annoyed at us for saying that they were both ours - which I don't think is our fault as it was her staff that put the donuts for her to check out. She voided our transaction and after we had paid for our correct amount, we thanked her for the donuts and she did not acknowledge that we had thanked her or that we were still there. I could tell by her demeanor that she was annoyed at us - probably because we were young and Asian. But was VERY nice to the next customers in line. Regardless of this place having the best maple bars in Seattle, I probably will not be going back to this place because of my experience with the owner. I don't believe that it was our fault that she had input the wrong amount and that it was just a simple miscommunication. But her reaction and demeanor definitely made my first experience here bad.
