"There are a handful of highly regarded Indian restaurants in Westchester, and our favorite is Chutney Masala in Irvington. The flavors feel brighter here, which is something you can see and taste in the vegetarian curries, like the deeply dark green pureed spinach saag that’s equally rich and distinct. There’s a suggestion on the menu to forget your fork and eat with your hands, but silverware’s provided just in case. The paapdi chaat and chicken kati rolls are excellent starters, and give way to tandooris and curries that all hit the mark." - mike wasserman
"Check out some of our favorite Bib Gourmand Indian restaurants in the city, plus one that’s just a MetroNorth train ride away. Bib Gourmands: Cardamom, Chutney Masala, Dhamaka, RaaSa." - The MICHELIN Guide

"This longstanding restaurant in idyllic Irvington is a rather special place. Tucked along Main Street and framed by windows, it is bright and welcoming, thanks to mustard-yellow walls, art and photos aplenty, as well as hand-blown glass light fixtures. A small, inlaid-tile bar out front welcomes one and all to dine on a wonderful, flavor-rich carte from Chef/co-owner Navjot Arora. Local, organic produce star in such complex, boldly spiced dishes as bhindi masala (imbued with tangy amchoor) and Punjabi eggplant curry. Chana masala reaches delicious heights when paired with a sweet and nutty Peshawari naan. Chutneys clearly shine here. Case in point—mango and tamarind. They're so luscious, they may as well be jarred and sold." - Michelin Inspector
