The 24 Best Restaurants In Melbourne - Melbourne - The Infatuation

"The weekend breakfast plate at this clothing-factory-turned-concept-store is as understated and wholesome as everything else in the space: a hunk of grilled fish, potato salad, greens, rice, miso soup, and tamagoyaki—the rolled omelet. It’s just what you need ahead of a trawl through the cavernous warehouse filled with Japanese ceramics, kitchen tools, coffee accessories, plants, sake, hand-dyed fabrics, home ramen kits, and more. The family-run shop has been here more than fifteen years, but the tofu-making workshops and monthly markets are new." - ellen fraser

The 38 Best Restaurants in Melbourne | Eater

"Melbourne is known for its cafes thanks to places like Cibi. Almost 15 years after opening, this Japanese cafe on a Collingwood backstreet is more popular than ever. The breakfast set is a staple, with grilled salmon, tamagoyaki, rice, potato salad, miso soup, natto, and pickles. With its mismatched furniture and greenery, Cibi feels like a true neighborhood spot. The light-filled space also features a Japanese grocery section and a design store where you can find things like yuzu miso and stone sake cups." - Audrey Bourget

Spacious cafe offering a calm and creative space. I had the dish pictured with the rice. It was true to Japanese cuisine. Light flavours and filling on the palette. Good food and beverages. Would recommend for small group catch ups

Stopped by for a Japanese-style brunch and loved it! Had the salmon rice (traditional) – fresh and very healthy 🐟🍚. Paired it with a warm genmaicha tea 🍵 which was comforting and earthy. A lovely spot if you are after something light yet satisfying 😊

Came here this morning for my mum and we got a ryokucha each. I was feeling like a nice warm tea and I like how rich it was, slightly bitter but not overly bitter and it had a smooth texture. It was surprisingly busy but I guess maybe it being a Friday morning makes a difference as well as how popular this spot is. The Japanese grocery store is really cool as well as the exhibits and workshops they hold there, I think you could get great gifts here too. It’s also on the pricier side and I wouldn’t come back here again but it was cool.

Great concept & nice location. There’s a small coffee bar, open plan dining area combined with a small grocery store. When we arrived, there was no table yet. So, the server took our name and let us walk around the store while we wait. Food presentation is great, however taste is just ok in my personal opinion. First photo is the ‘Ultimate’ set with a few more side dish compared to the ‘Traditional’ (vegetarian) set shown on the 2nd photo. 3rd photo is a weekend special of chicken Karage that was on offer at the time of my visit.

I recently revisited for brunch after a few years — the place suddenly came to mind, as I’d once been here with a friend. It was heartwarming to relive those memories. The food was still beautifully prepared, light, and wholesome. There was so much to explore that I completely lost track of time. I can’t wait to return on another beautiful sunny day!

Lively, spacious café with warehouse vibes and a creative atmosphere. Great spot for a relaxed brunch or weekend catch-up. I had the scrambled eggs on toast with spinach and a ginger lemon tea — both were packed with flavour and super satisfying. There’s also a shop inside with everything from kitchenware to books and even sofas. Definitely worth a visit.

CIBI Restaurant – A Beautiful and Tasty Experience ★★★★☆ Tried the Chicken Soboro and the CIBI Lunch Plate, and both were really enjoyable. Portions were on the smaller side but definitely enough to satisfy. The presentation was absolutely beautiful, each plate looked like a piece of art. The flavours were lovely and well balanced, and the greens they used were fresh, vibrant, and delicious. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the ingredients and the plating. Would definitely come back again—great spot for a light, flavourful, and beautifully served meal. Thank you 😊

Friendly staff and good coffee, however the food I had is far away from Japanese standards and lack of flavours compared to other restaurants or cafes offering similar style of dishes. They seriously need to elevate their menu or recipes… the food I had doesn’t require much effort or cooking skills honestly. For this range of price, I’d expect something more delicious than what I could make it at home. (Plus they clearly put the better side up of the sausages to cover up the burnt 😂, this is even worse) your customers could be forgiving but not idiots, no one in Japan would serve this kind of food😂 Though I appreciate the friendly gesture from the staff by discounting my bills and willing to listen to my dining experience, hope they could improve in the future to match up with their branding
