The Best Houston Restaurants With a View | Eater Houston

"If you’re looking for a new brunch spot with the best views, look no further. City Cellars returns in this new development in East River with an all-day menu filled with breakfast’s greatest hits and comforting dinner dishes. Houston chef Antoinette Williams-Wright prides herself on making everything fresh, including a stellar shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, a tower of challah French toast, and fresh, warm biscuits. Dinner also delights, with playful starters like Sriracha macaroni and cheese balls, followed by filling entrees like fall-of-the-bone short rib, crispy-skinned salmon, and chicken dishes you won’t regret. Pollo al Fuego is a beautiful assembly of grilled airline chicken breast with smoky chili puree and pickled red onions atop a creamy avocado verde. Here, every cheekily named cocktail has a story, but more than that, they taste good. Order the Birth Control or the Wrong Address to get the full story." - Brittany Britto Garley

Houston Restaurant Openings to Know Right Now, March 2025 | Eater Houston

"After nearly a two-year hiatus following its closure in July 2023, this bar-and-bistro reopened in a much larger spot in the East River mixed-use development as of early March. It offers all-day brunch with eight different styles of mimosas, a wine menu focused on independent wineries, and dishes like Sriracha macaroni-and-cheese balls, a 2-pound cinnamon roll, and brunch and "Cajun" boards stacked with items including fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and cornbread. Owner Daniel Wolfe, who originally opened the restaurant in the Museum District in late 2020, told the Houston Chronicle that the 2.0 version is more refined and will focus on "adult dining," meaning it’s only for ages 21 and up. The space includes a variety of seating options: indoor dining, a wrap-around patio, a patio garden, and dedicated zones for wine drinkers and live music." - Brittany Britto Garley

City Cellars is a really impressive spot in the East End, and our visit was genuinely enjoyable. The food was extremely good, fresh, flavorful, and clearly cooked to order. You can taste the difference when a restaurant isn’t relying on frozen items, and that alone set the tone for a great experience. The drinks were also excellent, and despite the busy atmosphere, the wait time for our food was surprisingly short. There happened to be a speed dating event taking place during our visit, but it wasn’t disruptive at all. Honestly, it was pretty cool to see an organized event happening right inside the restaurant, and it added a fun element to the overall vibe. If I had to give one piece of feedback, it would be about the lighting. The restaurant felt extremely bright for an evening dining experience. I’m not sure if it was due to the event at the bar or if that’s just the standard ambiance, but it didn’t create the relaxed atmosphere you’d typically expect after 6 PM. It doesn’t need to be dim or dark, but slightly lower lighting would go a long way in elevating the dinner experience. Overall, though, City Cellars lives up to its chef-driven reputation and offers great food, great drinks, and an enjoyable environment. We are definitely returning, and I recommend giving it a try!

Great surroundings and atmosphere! Drinks and food were amazing along with the violin music in the background outside. The Lamb Chops were juicy and flavorful! 21+ only was also nice! Valet parking is available for reasonable price. I definitely recommend this place!

Google
Fantastic food, cocktails, atmosphere, and service by Dom. Highly recommend this City Cellars, Chef Antoinette Wright is the real deal. Elevated Southern Comfort meets Global Cuisine. The Owner stopped by our table to check on us and is very passionate about the quality of food they put out. We can't wait to come try more. The crab cakes had an insane amount of crab meat and very little filler. The Fried Green Tomatoes, Gumbo, and Spinach Dip were all excellent. Entrées, Short Rib Grilled Cheese is not to be missed, the burger was outstanding, and the Banana French Toast was insanely great! Both Frozen Cocktails we had were top-notch. One of the best restaurants in East Downtown IMO. Something on the menu for everyone!

Came here right after church at Blueprint (if you are looking for a church home, come visit!) and and was instantly greeted by valet. It’s $10 but there is other parking nearby. The hostesses were attentive and friendly - I didn’t have to wait to be acknowledged - and sat us immediately for our 1pm resy. Our server Jordan gave her favorite recommendations and was very patient as we decided. the menu is extensive but that just means there is something for everyone. We ordered a Bellini carafe ($24) and apps - Mac & cheese calls (8/10), fried calamari (which is served with fried shrimp - a pleasant surprise!!! 9/10) and spinach artichoke dip (8/10). I also ordered a summer salad (perfection) and steak and eggs that were cooked perfectly. Id highly recommend this place! Even with the brunch rush for Sunday Funday, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Wonderful staff, good food and great vibes!

This place is average at best. Service was fast (for me). Ordered right when I was seated. Table was sticky & not properly wiped down. Mac n cheese balls were good. The turkey club sandwich wasn’t good or fresh & sadly there were visible dust hairs on the bacon. The bread smelled like it was pressed on old oil. This is a one & done place. Wouldn’t go back or recommend it. Not worth the hype. I definitely don’t recommend going when it’s busy. I was lucky enough to find street parking.

This was my first time dining here, and I was pleasantly impressed. The ambiance was inviting, the waitress was attentive, and the prices were very reasonable. Valet parking was both affordable and efficient. The mimosa was excellent, and the chicken and waffles I ordered were absolutely delicious.

On October 5, 2025, My ex-husband and I went to City Cellers for our Happy 10th Divorce Anniversary🤷🏽‍♀️😂. It was the first time visiting for the both of us. Everything was amazing. From being greeted upon arrival and leaving. We had reservations for the patio. And it did not disappoint. Found out from the owner that The Tammy Drink I had was named after his mom. We’re definitely planning to go back. 21+ and I love that part.

Google
So I heard mix reviews about this place but I was very satisfied with the service, drinks, and food! We tried the chopped and screwed and the h town hideaway and they were tasty and strong. We also tried the Mac n cheese balls and they were delicious. Sat at the bar. The restaurant is nice and the outside views are really cool. I’d definitely come again to try brunch or dinner.
