"A sleek and stylized throwback to classic neighborhood diners, this Tri-Taylor gathering spot features hearty breakfast and lunch classics with gourmet touches. The Monte Cristo sandwich, for example, is made with house-cured ham, Gruyère, Texas toast, and honey, and then batter-dipped and fried. Other favorites include the six varieties of ice cream sundaes and a plethora of vegetarian and vegan options." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam

"This is an upscale diner in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood. You’ll find classics like skillets, waffles, and omelettes ranging from really great (like the skillet with eggs, fried chicken, and gravy) to average (the greasy Monte Cristo). While you shouldn’t drive across town for the food here, it’s good for a hangover breakfast or brunch in the neighborhood." - Adrian Kane

"The Claremont Diner, owned by Steven Rife, is a stylized throwback to neighborhood diners, offering dishes with locally-sourced ingredients for affordable prices. The diner evokes familiar diner style with a modern twist, serving breakfast and lunch with gourmet updates. It aims to be family-friendly, offering free coffee to local police and fire workers, and will not serve alcohol." - Naomi Waxman

Cinammon roll was delicious...smelled so good we didn't even get a photo and only realized after I inhaled my half. Coffee is more blonde and light which is nice for sitting for long periods. Seems like a lot of UIC students come to this spot to study or for Saturday/Sunday brunch. Staff is nice and helpful. Good sized seating for a big group or a bar if you're a single. They probably do need someone to seat people as when I walked in there was a single person and a couple in 2 of the 3 six to eight person booths and since it was empty other than them at the time I grabbed us the 3rd large table because it was by a window and had good light, and then suddenly a lot of big groups started showing up and they had to squeeze into the 2-4 people booths which I felt really bad about. Will definitely be more mindful next time. Food was good quality but sometimes lacking on a full flavor. We had the spicy chicken sandwich but felt the sauce was overly sweet and the meat of the skillet needed some extra omph. Overall I had a pleasant experience and will come back.

This is a new spot in the area and what a great addition it is. The service was great, and very attentive. The food came out quickly and cooked perfectly. The milk shake was delicious! I really like the look of the space too, very inviting. I highly recommend this diner. I will be going back very soon!

Upscale, retro, cool place. Thank you bad traffic on my way to the Jesse Brown VA, missed my traditional breakfast stop. In between appts and did not want to lose my space so a short walk. The waiter recommended the Woodsman Skillet; hash browns, filet mignon, bacon, mushrooms and topped with 1 egg. I opted for a 2nd egg. Was served within 6 minutes. Eggs were fluffy over easy, filet had a good flavor. Bacon was thick and not crispy, nice light apple wood. Mushroom were fresh and full size. Coffee was good too. This skillet would fit in a deep woods, rustic setting just as well in the city. A new restaurant and I wish them many years of success. Well done today.

The burger was phenomenal. The fries are just as I like them. Almost identical to McDonald fries. Thin, crispy and tasty. We were given free peach cobbler as they just opened and the owner is very welcoming. Everyone was warm & helpful. I cant wait to go back for breakfast and try their specials. I am glad there is a new spot in this location as it adds brand new appeal to the neighborhood. We wish them best of luck! We cant wait to go back tomorrow for more!

We love everything here! We've been here twice and our food selection was great each time. I recommend the cinnamon roll. It didn't look like much, but we both agreed that it was great. I've had the french toast twice also. Once again, not much to look at, but it tastes great. French toast is my breakfast go to, so for me to say it is good...then it is good! The place has a diner look and the staff is very friendly. The place is super clean. We've been able to get a seat easily at this place each time that we have visited. I am sure once enough people try this place, there will be a line to get in. The portions are not too larger that you stuff yourself, but they are enough that you are filled. This is going to be part of our regular brunch rotation. Quality food at a good price. #letsguide #brunch #breakfast #chicago #diner

I invited a friend to Claremont this morning for breakfast. It was our first visit. We both loved the ambience, especially the cleanliness of this eatery. My friend had a vegetable and American cheese omelet, and I had a ham, goat cheese and veggies omelet. They were both delicious! The sour bread toast was great. For me the coffee was slightly weak, lacked oomph, my friend had three cups. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely return.

Great food - we had the egg sandwich, the veggie garden skillet, and avocado toast. They were delicious, the perfect portions, and a good value. Plus, the staff was very friendly and attentive . We look forward to returning for the pancakes and waffles.
